Feel free to use them for drying and water mitigation. Nick and his crew were excellent at that. Nick shows you the damage, walks you through the house, gives solid suggestions. Took care of us there. (Communication was spotty as to the process of drying the house....but it got done.).
But for restoration....while inconvenient, I'd highly suggest someone else.
Quote provided for restoration. Insurance company revised the quote and sent back to Nick. Agreed to do the work as laid out in the insurance quote. ONE DAY before they were to start work......my insurance company was contacted, stating that they were refusing to do the job unless the insurance company ponied up another 20% on top of the agreed upon quote. My insurance adjuster refused. However, Nick still agreed to do the job. (Good thing, considering I'd already forked over the money for the restoration).
Drywall guy, did a good job. Baseboards and casing guy......truly awful. See pictures below. When bringing this to Nick and the restoration manager's attention, I was basically accused of causing this damage pictured. Nick then decided to bring up the 20% on top of the original quote because, "It wasn't coming out of his pocket" and that "I needed to rock the boat with my insurance company because your guy must be a rookie or something." Needless to say, that didn't go over well. After my insurance guy discussed with the owner of the company (Nick's father) again, they again agreed to perform the work at the agreed quote. Nick's father accompanied him and the baseboard/casing guy to our house, and did their best to resolve.
There were more misadventures. The painters did their work (nice work by JJ's painting)....but then began a comedy of errors with the tile grout. The first attempt at ordering didn't match, which was fine...since they didn't apply it. Three weeks later they come back. Guy starts to apply it (it's sanded caulk, not grout).....doesn't match. Starts getting it all over the baseboards. But again, he stops.....at least before doing the whole job. Another three weeks later.......they finally show up with grout that matches. After the first day of application, we thought it was fine. But it's obvious now, there's places that the grout was mixed poorly.
We gave up.......signed the completion document. It just seemed like a never ending loop. If we had them fix the grout, they'd probably mess up the baseboards further. Then we'd be back to painting baseboards. Then it would be on the grout. We gave up........and it's shame. Our home is 7 months old. It's bad enough that the mistake was mine that caused the water issue.........but this just added to the pain of a stupid mistake.
And for Servpro to expect for me to pay for THEIR mistake in not putting the 20% markup in their quote for the insurance company, was insulting.
So again, if you're ever in need of water mitigation in the Buckeye area, then yeah I'd recommend Servpro. But from a restoration perspective....I can't recommend them at all. Get an actual General Contractor....don't have this happen to you. read more
