Steve was at our door within about 60 minutes of my call to SERVPRO. He was incredibly professional and knowledgeable about the water damage and the best way to proceed. After a careful inspection, Steve said he would be happy to do the cleanup work, but said that I would likely be better off doing it myself (cutting a few holes in the drywall to allow for drying and doing a repair in a few days). I did the work the next day, and I'm very glad he recommended that I do it myself. He literally saved me hundreds of dollars! At the end of his visit, Steve refused to accept any payment for his visit. I greatly appreciate his time in evaluating our water damage and I think a positive Yelp review is the least I can do as a thank you. I would highly recommend Steve with SERVPRO!

I hired this company for mold remediation and was very disappointed. The crew on-site was polite…read moreand super nice, but the process did more damage than the work itself. I was never told my built-ins would be completely removed, I only discovered it after the fact. Had I known, I could have arranged for proper removal, but instead they were torn out in a way that left them unsalvageable, costing me thousands to replace. Afterward, the company pointed to the notes fine print rather than acknowledging the lack of communication. If you use them, insist on a clearly explained scope of work. If you rely on professionals to help you navigate confusing home repairs, like myself, these aren't your guys. Update to response: First, I want to be clear that I don't believe Adam or the company ever acted with any intent to mislead me or cause harm. I think this situation came down to a lack of communication that unfortunately left me in a difficult position. About 90% of what Adam said in his response is true, but none of it directly addresses my actual concern. The real issue is whether the company made sure I fully understood the scope of work. Perhaps Adam thought... what idiot would not see it was obvious that the entire built-ins would need to be removed? Hi... it's me, I'm the idiot and truly I had no idea. I thought only a portion of my ceiling would be affected. Given the huge difference between what I understood and what actually happened, I believe the company should have explained this much more clearly. Like many homeowners, I rely on professionals to explain the scope of work in plain terms. I think that's a reasonable expectation. Adam is correct with my quote below but he left out the part where I explained that my issue was solely that I didn't know the built-ins were being removed. This was never clearly communicated to me, nor was I given the opportunity to remove them properly myself. Because of that, I feel my ability to make informed decisions was taken away. I only reached out to Adam directly later, after another contractor told me the closet could have been saved and that the removal was "unnecessarily destructive." Whether that's true or not, I'll never know. because I wasn't given the chance to find out. To clarify, the note about the built-ins wasn't hidden in "fine print," but it was only mentioned once in the "Other Notes" section. It was never discussed verbally, by email, or over the phone, and it wasn't included in the detailed action items. I don't think a single mention buried in a notes section qualifies as meaningful disclosure, especially when no one pointed it out or explained its implications. Perhaps Adam does. Lastly, the other points raised, like the quality of the closet materials, water damage, or insurance support, are not relevant to my concern. My issue has always only been about the lack of clear communication regarding the scope of work. Thank you.

I hired Second Chance (Patrick O'Connell) for fire-damage cleanup and rebuilding at my rental…read moreproperty, and the experience was extremely disappointing. I paid two deposits -- roughly $25,000 for cleanup and another $25,000 toward rebuilding. Before signing, I specifically asked whether the tenants' belongings would be included in the cost, and was told they would not be charged to me. I have this in writing. I was also told verbally that this would be handled as a full-service job since I live out of state and couldn't manage it myself. After the second payment, I was informed certain portions of the project -- including electrical work and the kitchen rebuild -- would not be handled after all. From there, the project became increasingly hard to manage and communication broke down. Despite what I was told, I was charged over $6,000 for work involving the tenants' belongings. Several other billed items also didn't match what I found on inspection: stains still on doors, windows that hadn't been cleaned, bathrooms that didn't appear cleaned, and painting that looked incomplete or poorly finished. I had to dispute multiple charges, including one for AC cleaning that was ultimately removed -- which raised real concerns for me about the accuracy of the billing overall. Beyond the direct costs, this situation led to lost rental income, an ongoing tenant situation, and repeated trips back to the property to sort things out. I also had an interaction with Patrick that I considered threatening, which I reported to law enforcement. I have documentation, photos, messages, and billing records supporting all of this. I'm sharing my experience so other property owners can do their own due diligence -- the sales process was far better than the actual execution, communication, and billing turned out to be. I wouldn't hire this company again, and I'd strongly recommend getting scope of work, pricing, and every charge confirmed in writing before paying anything.

Giertsen Restoration Services Company is an amazing restoration company that I would highly…read morerecommend to anyone in need of restoration services. I cannot overstate how impressed I am with their business ethics, expertise, and workmanship. They are highly skilled, very knowledgeable, fair priced, and their team is clean, careful, and honest. Giertsen Restoration Services Company delivers a level of customer service reminiscent of the days when businesses cared about the customer My issue was a 40+ foot long brick wall with a severe case of efflorescence (think 99 on a 1-10 scale). This case of efflorescence was not only severe and extensive, but also very stubborn and difficult to remove. Fortunately, the Giertsen Restoration Services Company team was up to the challenge! The initial estimating visit by supervisor Krystian was thorough, efficient, and respectful of my home (carries shoe-booties in his pocket and uses them!). The most impressive aspect was Krystian's listening skills - he heard my criteria and passed them on to the rest of the Giertsen Restoration Services Company team. An estimate was emailed to me that afternoon. Then, because I was working/not working with my HOA, project scheduling was an on again/off again nightmare; yet Krystian was so kind and understanding about the project delays. I finally committed to a start date and Krystian and Team arrived on-time (early even) and eager to tackle the project: Jose - "Not going to let this efflorescence defeat us!" Jose was determined to conquer the efflorescence! He demonstrated effective problem-solving skills by investigating alternate techniques and products while keeping me informed along the way. He also brought to my attention some other issues that I might not otherwise have noticed. Manuel - (here for only the first two visits) Manuel is resourceful and observant with great attention to detail; also helpful in informing me of other potential issues. He treated my home with care and respect. Marco - "Mr. 100%" Marco does not believe in doing something half-way; only 100% will do! He treated my home and the project as if it was his own home. Every task he tackled was done thoroughly and with gusto! The Giertsen Team demonstrated skills and care that are rare in today's world. Their attention to detail, efforts to get it just right, patience and persistence, are remarkable. Thank you for such a positive customer service experience and restoring some faith in commercial enterprises. Sincerely, Molly B. After checking out the damage, he put my mind at ease and gave us the rundown of his plan of running a few fans and dehumidifiers in our utility closest and in the crawlspace. I asked him a bunch of questions I had, and he answered each one with ease and helped me understand what was going on. In the end, Mark and his team set up the fans and dehumidifiers in the spaces and left them for a few days. We were considering getting new tiling and he recommended Jose from Neza Restoration & Repair. Jose and Fernando also did a really good job.
