Very disappointing experience. We'd been having issues with a toilet that seemed to have low flow and had recently randomly overflowed. When you have to pay an automatic $99 service call, we expected to at least get a plumber who knew his way around a toilet. The guy they sent unfortunately was either extremely inexperienced or legitimately trying to scam us. After a hour and a half of "diagnosing the problem" we were $1,100 in the hole and told that to really see "what we're dealing with" they would have to tear out the backyard patio and schedule a backhoe. Within minutes of writing the $1,100 check for services the toilet flooded the bathroom AGAIN. In the afternoon we called Lanz plumbing and they came in, found the problem, cleared the roots in the sewer pipe, sent us the video of the inspection, solved the problem! read more

I have a few scenarios: 1) i requested a duct cleaning. they came and completed the work. I didn't feel the need to double check as they're professionals... I recently removed a return air vent and it is caked in dirt. I notified them but they can't do anything about it. 2) my split system heatpump. this was never serviced or they didn't assign the right tech and it would go months without being serviced. the fan was dirty, caused the motor bearings to go awry, and I had to replace the motor. the feedback I received from the front desk is, "we are so busy we have these types of issues." 3) my kitchen sink was clogged. I called them to help unclog it. the guy walked in, looked at the cast iron pipe and stated it needed replaced without even inspecting or investigating. I was charged for a service call. I called rotor rooter and they charged me less than the service call and resolved my issue within an hour. i contacted Leland carpenter the owner without success. My recommendation is to look elsewhere. These folks only care about revenue not service. read more

Woke up Tuesday morning to no heat! Called 3 different places to no avail - no answer or call back. Called Chief/Bauer... Dispatch was friendly and helpful and the next thing I know Scott from C/B is calling to say he is on his way! So thankful and blessed. This young man spent over two hours making sure the unit was running properly and efficient before he left. Told me what to listen/look for in case of any issues and explained how the unit runs. They have been to my house multiple times, they have canceled appointments when they were SUPPOSED to come to my house multiple times, they have wasted my time up and down the block, and I still have no heat in my house. read more

Called 352-5211 in the morning and was told they should be there about 2 PM. After 4 PM the serviceman comes in and quickly replaces my ignitor which had gone bad. (I knew it had gone bad before calling. It wasn't going on.) I watched him and noticed that his replacement ignitor had burn marks on it. I asked him about it and he said they always check them out before installing them. Sounded fishy and I promised myself I'd check that out. He charged me $238 for the ignitor. After he left I checked how much they were at Lowes and on line. None was over $30. I then checked whether there were do it yourself instructions on line on how to replace. There are, they're simple, and they did not mention it was necessary to check out the ignitor before installing. So I had had a used one installed on top of being grossly overcharged! Before finding all this out I was considering replacing our HVAC unit with them because they were offering a discount worth twice the service call, but not a chance now. read more

After purchasing a $20,000 AC unit (Lennox) 2 years ago, we have been without the use of the new AC since Friday. It is in the 90's outside and almost that warm inside. They do not house parts locally, so if your AC goes on the fritz, too bad if it's Fri-Sun. Open 24 hrs, yes. But what good is that if the technicians can not get the parts to fix it. Our AC was struggling and after calling another company that said it'd be a week till they could get to us, we called Chief Bauer and they were able to get to us that day. The technician, Buddy, was professional, very helpful, and was able to explain to us what was going on in a way we understood. We did end up getting a service plan but did not feel like we were being pushed. read more

I would just like to let everyone know that the whole process for having our entire HVAC was smooth as could be. From the initial meeting with Misti to meeting up the techs. My wife and I felt very comfortable with them. Both techs Doug and Demarco were awesome! Our furnace wasn't working and they sent a tech to look at it. He said the control panel was fried and it would be $700 to fix. But it's an old furnace so we should just consider buying a new one. Oh how convenient our salesman is nearby and can come over to try and sell a new furnace for the "low" price of $123 a month for 60 months interest free (a $7,380 furnace?!?) OR we could lease one for 10 years @ "only" $100 a month (a $12,000 furnace?!?). I feel sorry for the people who fall for either of those scams. Always get a second opinion! We did and replacing the control panel was quoted at $450. Other company came out (since I'm not make of money) and found out it wasn't even the control panel after all! Call someone else if you're having HVAC issues, I'll guarantee you'll save money! read more

Yesterday we had a heat pump installed by the experts at Chief Bauer. Doug and Dillon did a wonderful job with the installation. They cleaned up after themselves. The new unit is operating very well. We have always liked a heat pump and when we moved into our new home we knew we needed to upgrade. Freon is phasing out and we do not want to be tied to the higher black market prices that will be coming. Also love the state of the art thermostat that we can control remotely. They were nice and professional, but in my opinion I got bad advice and they attempted to sell me on equipment I did not need.

the technician didn't even know what an intake pipe was. told me the bacteria fighter, which they installed, had gone out of business so they don't make any bulbs for it anymore. WRONG! but of course i could purchase a new system, which was a better company, etc. I'm sure they said the same kind of sales pitch when they installed the original one. Anyways, my bulb is ordered from the out of business company. LOL. Then we discussed the outtake and how it was not code, which he didn't agree with me even though other furnace people and an inspector had stated so. after many phone calls to the engineer, it finally came around to yes, it was against code. the engineer had to be researching it as well. with every phone call, he kept getting closer to what i had already determined. but of course it was code back when they installed it. I beg to differ. but that's for another day. then they also said that cutting the intake pipe just above the ceiling is common practice. allowing all the crap, dust, mice, etc. to fall into the intake pipe. most furnace people tell me they have never seen it cut off above the ceiling. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS BULLCRAP. NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE! read more

I used Chief/Bauer based on recommendations by friends. However, after two visits for an install and a service call, I couldn't stand the deceitful upselling that went on. First, the technician told me my AC filter was inadequate for the system I was using. It had just been installed, and was the top of the line from the manufacturer. He also added that it was dirty. I commented that the filter was changed two weeks prior, and it was fine. I was also tricked into changing a capacitor in my AC unit. He told me it was bad. After that, I researched online to see that they don't simply go "bad," and will usually blow out. The next visit, six months later, led to the technician telling me I needed to replace the capacitor again. Obviously they want you to believe these should be replaced like the batteries in your smoke detectors. I won't use this company again. If they cannot be honest and do the job I've hired them for, rather than upselling, I'd rather go anywhere else. read more

We are so happy with the work done by Chief Bauer at a house we were trying to sell. We had a last minute emergency immediately before the closing and we were panicking that the sale would fall through. Chief Bauer came out on a holiday and while they were unable to resolve the issue that day, they took down as much information as possible so that they could quickly diagnose the problem. We were so relieved that they were able to fix our problem the following day! Just a note that Bratcher Heating and Air came out before we called Chief Bauer and not only did they not fix the issue or give us a time frame that they could come back and fix it, they charged us $300 for doing nothing. Chief Bauer charged us almost half of that, got us scheduled immediately, and actually fixed our issue. We will use Chief Bauer for all of our HVAC needs going forward. read more

I had a tune up in July 2017 after purchasing my first home and then the pushy technician (Tommy) talked me into buying a service plan that covers two more tune ups as well. I really didn't think I needed it but that was my fault for not saying "no". After using the second tune up the same pushy technician showed me a picture supposedly of my coil that had some mold and he said that I needed to have a blue UV light to clean that, which keep in mind it's not cheap. I told him no this time. Then in May 2018, I was selling my house and wanted to use my last tune up that I had paid for on the service plan. The technician Matthew Barnes came in for approximately 30 minutes and said everything was good and had asked if I wanted him to turn-off the thermostat since it was pretty cool out that morning, which I had replied "yes". Later that night when I turned on my air, it was blowing out heat, I checked to make sure the thermostat was indeed turned to cool, which it was. I also checked the breaker. I contacted Chief that next day, and they had some young new technician come out to inspect the problem. After two hours, he tells me my thermostat is bad, keep in mind that my Nest thermostat is less than one year old and it had been working perfectly up even after Matthew left the day before after he supposedly did my tuneup. I honestly don't even think he did anything for this tuneup since he knew I was selling my house and was only using up my last tuneup. I was told that the manager of Chief would contact me and guess what he never did. Please Please DO NOT HAVE CHIEF inspect, repair, or do anything with you HVAC needs. They are crooks and some of their techs don't know what the heck they are doing. read more

I have had some good experiences with this company when dealing with normal service like maintaining the furnace and AC but when attempting to spend my money with them to work on replacing duct work and installing a new thermostat I was forced to continuously keep calling after someone came to look at it to start the estimate I tried on 5 different occasions to have a call returned I left voicemails on his cell phone his work phone as well as spoke to the receptionist to leave a message before moving on to a different company, very disappointed with that kind of service. read more

We recently had both our AC and furnace replaced by Chief/Bauer. Chris, Jon and Mike were outstanding. They arrived on time and worked fro 8:30 to 3:30 to complete the job. Their professionalism was exceptional. Chris took the time to explain the operating procedures for both units including the new thermostat. Jeff, the sales rep, stopped by late in the afternoon to see how the installation was progressing. He also told me that he would stop by our home in a week to make sure that all was well and to answer questions we might have regarding the operation of the system.
