Meats: Filipino beef sisig-- I was super excited to try this (I miss Senor Sisig burritos), but the sisig was very dry and almost a bit hard to chew apart 3/5. The chicken was an acceptable level of moistness, and came as mostly small drumsticks (mmm dark meat). The carrot, peas, and onion sweet tomato sauce was interesting but not like ahhh 3.25/5. Sides: Coconut braised squash-- Smells and tastes can really take you back. In this case, I was immediately reminded of squash cooked in college dining halls. Maybe it's a New England fall thing, but we had so much squash. The tofu stir fry in soy and garlic sauce was also reminiscent of dining hall food (not in a bad way, just flavor-wise. The tofu was firm with a chewy outer edge. Slightly spicy (probably moderate spicy for American tastes). The garlic and rice was literally garlic plus rice. Amazing food delivery during SIP!! Grocery delivery was excellent! A co-worker recommended. So glad because I could find no one to deliver for weeks. Fresh, good food with a nice variety. The bacon is amazing!! This week I tried their Heat and Serve Meals which were the Pot Roast (w/mashed potatoes and carrots) and Lasagna Bolognese both meals came with Anti-pasto (marinated artichoke, olives, pepperoni, roasted pepper) and Caesar Salad. Delicious and easy to reheat. So happy with this service. I usually order on Friday and get delivery on Monday. They drop off on my doorstep and text me both when they are on their way and when they deliver. No contact delivery. Love this service! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Groceries have been a struggle since the SIP started. My wife and I are public school teachers trying to make it work from home with a very active toddler. I'm picky about things so trusting someone else with groceries is outside of my comfort zone, but I wasn't the least bit disappointed. First, everything that I ordered frozen was still solidly frozen upon delivery! Next, the sauces and soup we ordered were fully contained in their container. Not a single drip into the plastic bag the containers were carefully placed into. Last night we had burgers with the high quality beef and today we'll make bread with the easily accessible yeast! Beyond the indulgence of the chowder all of the meat came portions and labeled perfect for the refrigerator or freezer, the fresh veggies and fruit where perfect picked and wrapped. We had them come out to cater our weekly HQ lunch in RWC and they were great! The layout of the warming dishes and the table cloths were unexpected, though made everything look much more presentable! (We don't expect much for out lunch deliveries, but they definitely went over the top - in a good way - than what we're used to!) We had them cater a pasta variety (lasagna bolognese, pesto chicken lasagna, spinach feta lasagna, antipasto, caesar salad and bread) and it seemed to be a great hit! I heard nothing negative about the food itself, which is great - it means there is a good chance we will work with them again in the future! 4/18/12 So I have given them a 2nd chance to redeem their business side. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance (i think) I called last week to get their menu for the week of our event and I spoke to Carlo again. He was very polite and kind and he emailed me their menu right away, within 5 minutes actually. (Hi5 Carlo!!) I called again today to place our catering order and my phone experience was great and I received my invoice for the order right after I got off the phone. Now that is awesome customer service!!!! Reliable, Professional and Dependable. Three words that do not describe Servers Standing By. I have used these guys with success for smaller corporate events at my day job for a while and have recommended them to countless other friends. They seemed to be really good and affordable. I thought they would be a good choice for a special Saturday event I was doing for another client. Wrong. After giving me two proposals, I was able to sell my boss on the higher bid. When I wrote them back at 2pm in the afternoon to give them the good news and finalize the details, I was basically told 'Sorry, we're closed for the day - find another caterer.' They never called me to follow up on the outstanding proposals. They never advised me that there was a deadline to decide. No email. Nothing. This put me in a terrible position with my client and I had to go into a mad scramble to sort everything out. It caused me a lot of needless headache. When I wrote to Jane to see if she could at least recommend another comparable caterer she wrote (from her Blackberry): "Any of the markets like Whole Foods which is in the Castro or Mollie Stone's or Draegars. We start at 4am and we are finished for the day, I am sorry." If WHOLE FOODS and MOLLIE STONES are suitable alternatives for Servers Standing By, then going forward that's who I'll use and recommend. Why on earth would I give business to a group of people who have no regard for the fact that of ALL the caterers I could have selected, I selected them - a company who I have been loyal to for quite some time. I trusted them to come through on this event. I even upsold their menu to my new boss and raved about the quality and service. Now I just look absolutely foolish. To make it worse, now I have to run around late on a Friday afternoon trying to solve this whole mess. But hey, I guess they like to get the weekend started early at Servers Standing By. I'm so happy I found this local grocery delivery service and have been using it frequently. Super convenient. They have essential groceries and also products from other local business' (Dave's Gourmet Hot Sauce is the bomb and I now put that S**t on everything...especially the jalapeño one). They seem to consistently add more grocery items and they also have housemade heat and serve items that I recently started trying. Clam Chowder is clutch. So good! Bolognese sauce is the best I've ever had (sorry Mom) and I just tried the Cuban Pork recently and, um, yea... it's deeeelicious! I used it for dinner the past 3 days. Although I'm not the person who booked Servers Standing By my sister-in-law did the job for me. My husband passed away suddenly and we had to plan for food after the funeral. As our guest list grew (from 300 to 1,000 people) this catering firm was on top of everything. They also order the right amount of food as we had no idea what to order. The food was excellent. On top of all this, they did an excellent job cleaning up after the event. No one was there supervising them to make sure they cleaned everything, they did this all on their own.
