Me and my favorite fellah had to deliver some Succys up to Cumberland this evening. Luckily the client also owns the restaurant we delivered to We enjoyed an amazing Portuguese feast and the BEST red sangria. Andrew had the octopus dish and I did the bisteco with a hard fried egg on top. Not pictured was the delicious shrimp Mozambique for the appetizer. Real talk, if you're up north and want some good home cooked Potuguese dishes, hit up Restaurante Serra Da Estrela and see Paulinha Figueiredo Neves. Her mom and husband also hold it down with her in the kitchen and behind the bar. Her father is watching from heaven and he's so proud she's keeping the legacy going. This is a well established restaurant that's been around for close to 40 years. It's my 1st time visiting. Stopped in for lunch since I'm in the area and check this place out. Entrance will put you right into the dining room which was setup for dinner service I assume. But the dining room was empty, so I strolled past the the dining room towards the rear which was their small lounge area. I was then greeted by the chef/owner and I asked If lunch was being served since it was 12:15 He answered yes and asked if I wanted to sit in the dining room. I really didn't want to disturb the settings for just myself so I opted to sit at a high top in the lounge. So I was offered 2 specials which consisted of a sirloin steak or a fish filet. I opted for the steak and I asked for a menu also Just to see the offerings (I posted them) So talking to the customers at another table they were very nice to offer dining recommendations on future visits. They're regulars as 1 might have guessed. My steak was pan seared and topped with a garlic sauce and a fried egg along with rice and fresh fried potatoes. Steak was cooked to medium as I requested It was a 6 to 8oz portion tender for the most part and I found the garlic sauce a bit salty. May try to come back to check out their buffet on weekends. Went here on a Saturday. Only 2 other tables in the dining area w/2 people at each tab& maybe 2 others at the bar. Our server was a lovely girl; very friendly. She was prompt & checked on us frequently. However, the food took forever to come out...almost 45 minutes. And, it didn't all come out at the same time. It was quite frustrating. Hubby & I were really excited to try this place. Being of Portuguese descent, we are tough critics as you can imagine. Most of the food was good. Steaks were cooked well. My codfish was great. The soup & the sauce on the streaks, though, both needed more seasoning; they lacked any type of depth, which was disappointing. We're definitely willing to give it another shot as they could have just had an off day. Heard they have a buffet on the weekends: sounds like a great opportunity to sample other dishes on the menu. ---------------------------------------- Updated review: Redemption! Went here a couple of days ago. Food was fantastic! I had the beef a Portuguesa & a calde verde, both awesome. Service improved as well. Didn't wait nearly as long as before. Calamari was disgusting no even edible. No sauce no banana peppers. To expensive for what it is. Forget one of our entree we had to drive back for it. Gas is over priced for this type of things to happen. Do yourself a favor and order elsewhere read more

Don't let the outside of this restaurant deceive you, it's the real deal! Truly authentic Portuguese food, great portions at reasonable prices! It was roomy, clean and simple inside, no frills but excellent food and service. Mike our server/ bartender was awesome and made killer white sangria (thanks Mike)! For the sake of time and effort, I cannot spell (or pronounce) these foods, I will just describe them. We went with family and had a smorgasbord of food; all were equally as good as the next! My daughters future in laws (who are Portuguese) were there and helped us make our choices. We had the shrimp mozambique as an appetizer, it was so good that I was tempted to drink the sauce (I opted to sop it up with the bread instead), it wasn't a pretty site but who cares when you're eating great food! For dinner I had the traditional pork with littlenecks and potatoes. It was seasoned perfectly and absolutely delicious! My husband had the same but made with chicken, that was just as good. My daughter had a chicken dish made with curry, spicier that ours with just the right amount of heat (I'm getting that the next time). We also had the fried cod sautéed with onions and peppers..wow, like fried fish isn't bad enough, let's just smother it with some more butter and goodness! We will definitely be back for more! Today being Father's Day I wasn't sure what I wanted for dinner, we decided to pick up some Portuguese food so I called Serra da Estrela. I picked up Bife a Serra (Portuguese steak) and shrimp and Pork with little necks and I have to say this was the best new we have had in years. I eat at a lot of good restaurants working in NY but by far this was the best food I had in a long time. Thank you Mr. Figueiredo and Chef Miguel the food was outstanding. read more

I used to come here last year for their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. Not sure if they still do that. I forgot to ask when we went the other night. The food here is just mediocre Portuguese food. And they're kinda pricey! One side of the restaurant(front) is fine dining and quieter, while the other smaller side (back) is the bar with television if you feel like watching sports or the Portuguese channel. Our server that night, though friendly he was, wore heavy perfume! I almost got sick. I couldn't smell or taste the food right. My bf, who is Portuguese, ordered the regular steak with eggs and fries. Cooked medium but the sirloin was just really tough. I had stewed octopus with rice. Eh, not very fantastic. There are two more good Portuguese restaurants on the same street. I should've gone to the other ones instead! read more

I had my sons first communion lunch here which Included forty five family members. When I meant with the owner to discuss the details after what was a very awkward situation. He finally came up with a price and included in that price was 2 bottles of wine... pitchers of sida .... for which I had to ask for as my guests were practically done eating and some already had bought drinks themselves. He then cleared all the food in the buffet.. which he had told me I could take home any leftovers... I paid for that food.. he had no right. It was a buffet... perhaps my guests were not done eating. He is liar and a cheat.... he treated me with no respect. I would not suggest this place to anyone. When I asked him about leftovers... he told me there were none.. which I know was a lie. read more
