Was there last week, the service was ok, I had to ask for everything, no one came to ask if we needed anything? The older person that sat us, was not welcoming at all. The place was not busy, it was like, 4:30 pm. The food was mediocre, will I go back? absolutely not! I don't mind paying good money for quality food, this was a 3 out of 5 for me. Yum!! What a great family run spot. We went in on a Thursday night and had a wonderful dinner. This is one of my cousin's favorite spots and I had been hearing about it for so long. It did not disappoint! Service was friendly and I'm pretty sure it was the owner who was basically doing everything that evening. I love that they give you pap sec's to start off, those rolls are so tasty. We got little necks in the wine and butter sauce. Yum! A pretty large portion to for the price. For dinner my husband and I split the larger portuguese steak. It was awesome! I'm picky with steak and this one was super flavorful, tender, and just all around delicious. The family was in the mood for Portuguese food one night, so we decided to grab some takeout here. I have to say, our initial experience with the staff was horrible. The person taking our order was extremely rude and actually hung up on my husband. When he called back, he offered no explanation as to why he hung up on us and proceeded to be very rude while taking the our order. Definitely wasn't a language barrier issue as my husband is Portuguese speaking. Luckily, the person he encountered when he picked up the food was more appropriate. However, they did not seem terribly concerned...or surprised...when he told them of his experience. Hubby was only in the establishment briefly to pick up the food, so I can't really speak to atmosphere or cleanliness. We all got the bitoque. The steak was a little overcooked, but that could have been from it sitting in the takeout containers while transporting home. The flavor was really good though. There's a lot on the menu that we'd like to try, but I have some hesitation based on our experience. We will likely give it another shot, this time in person. I found this Portuguese place in Cumberland, RI. Loved it ! It's in an old Dunkin building so they have a drive thru, drive thru Portuguese food is an absolute awesome concept. I love it. The food was amazing so good I forgot to take pictures almost better than little Portugal Fall River. The service was amazing. Will be returning soon. So pictures to follow. read more

This was our first time here! It was my birthday, so it was my choice and of course I'm going to choose Portuguese food!! We went on a Wednesday night at 7 PM so there wasn't a lot of people there, so that was good! There was one waiter. I got what I always get when I go out to eat for Portuguese food and that is the Bitoque, which is steak, french fries, rice, and a fried egg, and it was so delicious. The steak was tender cooked to perfection. my husband got shrimp, rice, and french fries and tea. Enjoyed it and my son got carne alentejana which is pork with potatoes little necks and he loved it! I'm almost hesitant to write this review because I want to keep this wonderful spot to myself. But alas I cannot stop singing their praises and talking about how amazing this restaurant is. It is hands down our favorite Portuguese restaurant in the area. In fact, we turned our Lisbon born friend onto this place and it is now one of his favorite spots as well! I first discovered this family run business at the Day of Portugal festival in downtown Providence a few years ago and at the time they were running a food truck. Of all the food options at the festival we chose them for one reason. . . they had pica pau on the menu! Pica pau is my favorite Portuguese dish and I have yet to find another place nearby that serves this. Seriously, if you know of another please let me know because I have researched many menus looking for this. So fast forward a few years when I was really craving pica pau I discovered they had opened a restaurant and off I went to give it a try. The owner and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant isn't very large but it's never empty, hence why I don't want the word to get out too much so I can't snag a table. There are always plenty of Portuguese families there which is another good sign that the food is legit. We always start with some sangria or a Super Bock, some bread and olives, and sometimes we get the pica pau (mixed grilled meats, chourico, pickled veggies, in a yummy broth) as an appetizer. But they also serve it as a dinner with rice and french fries! That's my go to. You'll want to keep some bread to soak up all that delicious both too! Everything we've had here has been delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the quantity you get. We always leave stuffed. Oh but you're going to want to try and save room for their desserts and an espresso at the end. This little gem nestled in the SE corner of Cumberland in the Valley serves extraordinarily authentic Portuguese cuisine. To start we had delicious "caldo verde" a kale and potato soup a traditional peasant soup. For entrees we ordered sea bass with boiled potatoes and greens as well as a special mixed grill with pork steaks, pork sausage and pork belly accompanied by fresh green salad and golden fries. Our choice of wine was a great red table wine from Penalva do Castelo (a wine region in NE Portugal)! All the food here is to die for! Mr. Marques serves up the best authentic Portuguese cuisine that one can find in RI and SE New England! read more

FIVE Stars!! I have been here a lot. With my wife for a date night, with the family for dinner, with friends, extended family etc. This is a nice casual neighborhood restaurant. Very nicely appointed but nothing overly fancy. Amazing food, reminded me of home cooked meals. Always a nice group of customers everyone is friendly. I hate to say one negative thing about this place. If I had to say one thing is that from time to time they are short staffed and the wait for a check might take a bit longer. Which isn't really a bad thing considering I just told you now you can ask for the check earlier in your meal. LOL. The stuff is always friendly, the food is always fantastic! I've recently moved to the area and have been missing frango do churrasco (New Bedford and Fall River staple) and let me say this place has satisfied my needs. Super juicy and tender grilled rotisserie chicken and hand cut fries and heaven. The sandwiches are also great. I will be working my way through the menu with every visit. As I'm new to the area I'm not sure on how popular they are but it seems that they had a food truck before this brick and mortar. It's a scary time for the food industry and I've been getting takeout whenever I can to keep these great places open. read more
