They sold me a truck that was pre-owned certified that had a transmission issue, then refused to repair telling me its suppose to be that way. A total joke of an experience, then offered to buy it back and sell me a new one for twice as much as I paid for the one I bought from them. Took my 2016 Lacrosse in because I got a warning message about the power steering malfunctioning and a fuel control module code. They said $400 to diagnose each and that would go to the repairs. They found a few broken wires which they repaired and all the error codes went away it cost an additional $75. No big deal. Once I pick up my car the steering felt a little strange after driving home. I get about 15 miles away and I get a warning message about my power steering AGAIN! I call the dealership but their service department is closed at 6pm. So I drive it back to their shop and drop off the key. My car sat over the weekend and it took till Tuesday for them to tell me the power steering gear module needs to be replaced and that will be just under $6500!!! I declined the repair after looking up the part online and it's $650. (Idc if it's rebuilt or not). I'm not paying 6k when the car is worth maybe 8k. Then they tell me I owe them another $97. I will never again go to this dealership. It was my first time there and it will be my last time. Find a good local mechanic. What a waste of nearly $600. I could have had my car totally fixed by now. Oh let's not forget about NOT EVER BEING ABLE TO GET THE SERVICE MANAGER OR THE SERVICE AGENT TO PICK UP THEIR DAMN PHONE. Highest labor, parts and hours ornament any GMC location around. Lapeer, Troy, Roseville and Washington all matched Insruane hourly rates. This place charged 122.00/hr with insurance, insurance would only payout @115 they made me pay the differnce, they also made insurance pay 90% of MSRP pricing, they didn't want to give any military/veteran discounts then they only did after they photocopied my ID which I told them was illegal and fought about them destroying it. Had to be the most awkward, unexpected, unprofessional group of people, Kal and Marc specifically. Ladies and gents, let me tell you about my experience doing business with Serra GMC Buick of Rochester Hills. My salesman was terrific and the gentleman that handles the financing was extremely helpful. I loved my new Acadia. However, due to an accident, I chose to have my vehicle towed to Serra's body shop. Biggest mistake I ever made. My vehicle was there for almost 4 months. Now I understand the issues with parts being backordered, but the biggest problem lies with the lack of communication between the body shop manager, Nick, and myself. I would call to check on the progress of my vehicle and did he call me back? No. This went on for months. I had every right to call and inquire about the status of my vehicle. I stopped by the dealer on my way to work at 7:00am and my vehicle was sitting outside unwashed and unlocked for who knows how many days. I was furious and took pictures. Yesterday, May 26, 2023, I received a text from Nick stating that my vehicle would be ready and that he would text me when it was ready to be picked up. I thought, great! That text never came. So, I stopped at the dealer / body shop on my way home from work at 3:30. My car was still sitting in the same place and it had not been washed or moved. Nor had the paperwork been completed so that I could finally take possession of my vehicle after close to 4 months. Nick, the body shop manager, told me that in order for him to release my car I would either have to pay the entire $18,000 or that he would have to make sure my insurance company paid all the monies owed. That was incredibly unprofessional. I checked with my insurance company and they issued every check that was requested. Nick just did not want to have to process all of the paperwork. He told me to leave the dealership and come back later. The he proceeded to further insult me and ask if I was prepared to pay my deductible!!!!!! What!!??? Unprofessional and uncalled for. How dare he ask me that. Well by this time, it was 4:00pm and they were only open to 6:00. I was absolutely furious. Not only has this individual been jerking my chain around for months, he texts me to let me know my vehicle would be ready, when in reality, he would actually have to do his job before I could pick my vehicle up. I was determined to take possession of my vehicle that day and not wait one more minute. I returned my rental and was back at Serra GMC by 4:30. Low and behold my paperwork was ready. I paid my deductible (what an insulting this to say and insinuate that I could not pay it), however, my vehicle was not ready, it was not washed or prepped and Nick actually expected me to drive off the lot in a filthy dirty brand new Acadia covered in dust and dirt. What did I do? I demanded that he or someone was my darn car! With that, he was furious with me. Nick took my car behind the dealer for 25 minutes! I waited for 25 minutes for him to clean up my vehicle. I was furious. He was totally unprepared, unprofessional and there was this undercurrent of misogynism that was pervasive in his attitude with me. When Nick was finally finished, he saw me standing there, drove right past me and parked my car at the front of the dealership. This was intentional because he looked right at me while driving by. Last but least, I was getting the seat in my vehicle situated and once again, trying to get familiar with my vehicle while another body shop or service center employee, who drives a white motorcycle, walks past the front of my car shaking his head at me as if to say, "stupid woman!" This bad boy behavior in this dealership will not be tolerated. I will call every news station and newspaper and report them for treating me so badly all the while getting paid a small fortune by my insurance company. This backwards thinking that I had no right to call them to inquire about my vehicle is ridiculous. Everyone has that right and should call to check on the vehicles. I will make sure that this never happens to another woman or man. Nick and his cohorts need to be replaced or educated on how to treat customers. After all, the customer comes first and is always right now matter what. read more

I've probably been a customer of 6 or 7 dealerships in the 20 years that I have owned or leased new vehicles and I can honestly and accurately say that Shelton Buick GMC is the BEST. I used to believe that if I took my vehicle to a dealership for service regularly, that I would develop a relationship with them and they would take care of me. But after years of loyal service, "my Ford dealership" quoted me a ridiculous price to unblock a windshield washer fluid tube on my Ford Fusion. I was like, Are you SERIOUS? That was the end of my loyalty to dealership service departments. I then found out that upon turning in my lease vehicle they charge you $495 if you do not lease through them or a buy a BRAND NEW vehicle. ask questions about ANY other charges. They tricked me. My previous lease from 2 years prior did not have this charge on it. I feel seriously taken advantage of. I've taken good care of this vehicle and I'm getting punished for it. Little update. After a few days of driving the vehicle, The same issue came up again in regards to the transmission. The check engine light came on, started showing the same code, and was stuck in limp mode. I took it to the GMC dealer on van dyke. They diagnosed it and found that the issue was the actuator. Do not buy or lease a vehicle from this dealership; the salespeople know that Buick and GM have numerous complaints about the auto-stop feature on their cars but they do not tell you about this issue until after you purchase or lease the vehicle. They will tell you to override the Auto-Stop feature by increasing your air conditioning or heating fan speed. The Auto-Stop feature was not engaged when I took my test ride and I was told after I had the car for three days that the reason it did not work during the test drive was because the car had sat in the lot for a long period of time. Now I am stuck with a vehicle, for three years, that has a feature that is beyond annoying. Avoid this dealership, they are not open and honest with their customers! read more

Called in for lease pricing on a Sierra, came in and spoke with Mike Dallape. Quoted me a price, went over different terms and down payments . Ended up making a deal. The next morning after gathering required items ( insurance, GMS, down payment, etc) Mike calls me and says the price increased as he made a "mistake"with the numbers. I drove in as I was frustrated. My lease was due back the same day. Knowing I had no other options, he thought it would be ok to bait and switch to take advantage of my situation. After I voiced my thoughts, he became angry and used some vulgar language. He didn't like that I called him out. I asked for the manager and he magically was able to get the price back to what we originally discussed. He claims he made yet another "mistake". All of this could have been avoided if he had any integrity at all. I decided to not work with this dealer. Would never recommend. read more

We bought our first Terrain in 2009 from a different dealer out of town since no one in the area had any on their lots. We researched GMC dealers in our area and settled on Shelton for our service. We have never been disappointed. The first time I made an appointment for an oil change the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Unfortunately about five people showed up for oil changes right before we got there and we were delayed. One of the service staff came out and apolagized twice about our delay (only about 20 min). After that I was sold on all things Shelton! My car was hit in the parking lot where I worked. The door was damaged enough that is had to be replaced. I was very impressed with how Shelton handled everything. They dealt directly with the insurance company when they realized the insurance adjuster had missed some of the damage in his report. They kept us informed every step of the way. The work done was spotless! When we had an engine problem with the Terrain and were looking at a large price tag repair, Mike was upfront with the costs and that they probably wouldn't be covered under warranty and would need Manager approval if it was. I was bringing in the vehicle at the end of service hours and the manager had left for the day. Mike made sure I got an update as soon as possible the next day. Turns out the engine issue had to do with a recall that was coming out within the next month and the cost was completely covered. I really appreciated that they were honest about the potential costs and didn't try to feed me some bs. Mike even stayed late when I came to pick up my car when it was done when I got stuck in Rochester road traffic due to an accident. In Aug 2013 we were t-boned by a woman who went through a red light and our Terrain was totaled - I know we had some bad luck with this vehicle! We went to Shelton and they worked with us to find exactly what we wanted and had it delivered to their lot within two days. They weren't pushy and our salesman listened to exactly what we wanted. I've been a customer since 2010 and have never had a bad experience with Shelton. They've been honest and forthcoming every time I've been in there for service. I highly recommend them! read more

I was lied to straight to my face on every level while dealing with these jokers. The service department to over a year to fix a defect in a seat cover. After spending over seven hours waiting to get my car back for a simple repair I find out they damaged my vehicle and lied about it when it was in service. Oh yeah and to top it off I paid my Lisa or year early and they lost my payment and tried to tell me because they lost my payment that I still owed all the money. I have had numerous poor experiences with this location, specifically the service department and employees Jared and Kal. The service department at this location is dishonest, incompetent, and will take advantage of anyone they can based on my last 6 experiences. The start of my problems with the service department of this dealership started in May 2018 when I called for a price estimate on replacing an oil pressure sensor in my 2009 Yukon XL, I spoke to Jared and he told me that I was looking at $400 to replace an oil pressure sensor with labor and parts and I scheduled an appointment for the service to be performed on May 16th 2018 at 10:30 AM. When I arrived for my appointment I met Marc and I tried to confirm the price quote by Jared, when Marc told me the repair was closer to $525 and that Jared forgot to include a gasket in the price he gave me. On the website it says your business offered "competitive upfront pricing" I asked Jared if he remembered quoting me $400 a few days prior and he told me that he didn't remember what he had for breakfast let alone what he quoted me on the phone, however he agreed in the end to perform the service for the quoted $400 on the account it was his error, I was pleased with the resolution and inquired about the "free multi point inspection" to see if I needed any other repairs while my vehicle was in the shop. Jared told me my vehicle would be looked over front to back, top to bottom and an assessment would be made available with recommendations by the afternoon. Jared called around 1 PM and he recommended that I have the 100,000 mile maintenance service package completed , as well as: 1) Transmission line replaced. 2) L Front axle seal replaced. 3) Front pinion seal replaced. I agreed to have everything recommended to be fixed or replaced to be completed and was quoted $2,850 for everything. Jared said he could have everything done by the next morning on May 17th, when I made the appointment I was told there would be a loaner vehicle for me to use while my vehicle was being fixed, that loaner ended up not being available forcing me to rent a car to get myself and my family around at an additional expense to myself, not 100% their fault but if they had the vehicle they said was available I wouldn't have had to go through this extra expense and step. I call May 17th to see if my vehicle was ready, and Marc told me the power went out and there's no way my car will be done until May 18th, I understand extend my rental and wait for Marc's call. I wait until 5:10 PM on May 18th and Jared finally calls and tells me GREAT NEWS my repairs were complete and only $2,649.13 more than $200 less than quoted! I finally picked up my car on May 19th in the morning and go over my itemized receipt, my original $400 repair ended up costing me $665.24 not the $400 quoted and then confirmed on May 16th, 3 days prior. As I'm driving my "good as new" vehicle I notice that there is an audible grind and whine coming from my breaks, no mention of break issues at all during my top to bottom inspection. I head back and Kel informs me after an inspection that I need new rear pads and rotors at an expense of $362.69 and they could have it done the next day, I agree to have the work completed and waited to hear from Kel the next day. Next trip I'm told after Kel said everything had been inspected that I now need new pads and rotors on the front, Kel did give me free pads for the inconvenience and grinded my rotors "to get a few miles out of them" but at this point I do not trust or think anyone should trust their vehicles to this location. The replaced oil pressure sensor went out within the first month it was in the vehicle which was replaced for free under warranty but after all the problems I've had this entire experience has been nothing short of regrettable. read more
