First time at Sergio's today--very unassuming storefront. Sergio's has a small town pizza place feel, not fancy, but proud of their pizza! Ordered a 10" thin crust pepperoni and onion pizza, and I was pleasantly surprised--thin crust, rich tomato sauce, and understated onions. Not the best pizza in a crowded northwest suburban Chicago pizza market, but a solid offering. Recommended. You won't be disappointed. They also offer pizza by the slice if you're looking for an economical lunch stop. read more

Update: Was contacted again by a representative of the business (who has also reviewed it). I'm not OK with the weird misrepresentation that's going on, and I reported it to yelp. I'm also not OK with their refusal to follow mask guidelines lumped in with 'average' food as "not meeting my expectations." it's a pandemic, it sucks for all of us, and people in our house are high risk. We were afraid to eat the food prepared near mask-less people. It's irresponsible and unacceptable. 'Bland sauce' is not even on the same level, and having them be equated reinforces that we are never coming back here. Original: the 'owner/manager' George, contacted me yesterday and asked about specifics so he could address it. Last time we got Sergios was in July, and we did not like the pizza. We placed an order tonight to give them another chance. When we arrived to pick up our order, one of the employees in the kitchen (short/buzzed hair, facial scruff, earring) was not wearing a mask. None. Not off his ears, nothing. It looked like the other cook had his below his nose. The mask-less employee brought our order up, and definitely came within 6 feet of me when he did so. We got wings - they were average. Not overly spicy, but tasted like the sauce was just a generic bottled 'hot sauce'. They were big, which is a bonus. We also got fettucini alfredo with chicken and broccoli. The sauce was both bland, and overwhelmingly garlicky. I like garlic, I like garlic alfredo, but all I could taste was garlic, with a garlic after taste that lasts. I've order their pasta with oil and garlic and had an issue with the overwhelming amount of garlic, so I figured it was just that dish. Honestly, it's hard to eat. We also got jalapeño poppers, and they taste previously frozen - and not in a good way. Very disappointing, we will not return. read more

I used to order pizza from here regularly. I won't do that ever again. I ordered a pizza today and when I got there, it was overdone (this was from the owner, not me) so they asked if I wanted another one. I said I did, so I waited there. When I got home, I saw they made the wrong pizza--it wasn't what I ordered. After having waited for a second pizza (through no mistake of my own), I threw it away in frustration and got something to eat elsewhere. When I called the shop to tell them what happened, they asked if I wanted another pizza delivered. At this point, I'd already eaten something, so I asked for a free pizza on my next visit. They agreed to do that. That's fair. Then the owner called me and left me a message. I called him back. He wanted to know if I was sure that I had the wrong toppings on the second pizza they made me (and asked if I wanted a delivery pizza). I told him that I waited there for them to make it, I took the pizza they gave me, and when I got home it had sausage on it and I had ordered mushrooms. I also told him that I know the difference between the two. I'd already eaten something else by then and threw away the pizza in frustration. He didn't seem to understand that I threw it away because he asked me that question twice. So, either the owner thinks I was lying when I called to tell them about the mistake or he thinks that I don't know the difference between sausage and mushrooms. I'm not sure which one is worse (either I'm a cheat or a moron), but I do know that that's terrible customer service and that they've lost my business for good because of it. Lots of pizza places in the area. Think twice before you order from this one. read more

Ordered from Sergios this time instead of Pizza Factory ....and I think I am hooked ..much more substantial and tastier pizza then Pizza Factory ...great value ..about double the cheese and more high quality Fabris sausage then pizza factory....pizza factory had been going light on ingredients in the past few years despite raising prices ......I grew up in Barrington and ate at Sergio's often back then when the original owner owned it and had his wife and young son there most days..the pasta sauce Sergio's had back then was delicious and very sweet ..and great homemade meatballs I hope they still have the same recipe will try that...Definitely try Sergios .no ambiance here though just carryout ......I think I have a new favorite in Barrington for pizza..... read more

The first thing listed on the menu is "Seasonal Soup is HERE!" I called to find out what the choices were. They have no soup and the woman who answered acted like I was stupid for asking. Some years ago, we relocated from Los Angeles to this Norman Rockwellian idyllic Chicago suburb. It was for our daughter's benefit, we wanted her to have a great education in a safe environment, and grow up with midwestern values. For the most part, it was a successful move. At the time, after local exploration, (and my previous choice burning down, not my fault), my "go to" pizza became the thin crust at Sergio's. They've moved a couple times since then, and changed owners, but they are still grinding out great pies for the past thirty years. Passing through the burbs this summer, on a mission to look at some horses for sale, it was appropriate to re-sample Sergio's, and see how my memory compared to reality. While most people identify Chicago with "Deep Dish Pizza" (except Jon Stewart), the thin crust pies are really excellent, cracker crusts, mounds of real cheese, excellent sausage, and square cut. I had a 16 incher. They have larger, smaller, thick crust and stuffed - a full menu of other goodies, too, sandwiches, 'cue, pasta, salads, and small bites. Sergio's crust is flaky, the sizable hand-pulled sausage chunks are flavorful, and the pie has spectacularly high quality cheese. You'll also notice a distinctive difference with the tomato sauce; all of their sauces are made in house, and the pizza sauce is very hearty with a full tomato flavor. Another upside with Sergio's is they charge 15-20% less than local competitors. A welcome respite. read more

We are DONE with this place Sloppy food prep, CHEAP with ingredients, late with order This place is going downhill faster then an Olympic Luge Ordered 3 pizzas, one with olives, mushrooms, onion. The joke when we opened it was "Did they slice up a single mushroom?" Because that's how bad it was. The olives and onions we're much better. Really need to keep your costs down so badly you give customers 1c worth of ingredients, instead of 15c? And (this is maddening), they didn't slice the pizza all the way through. We didn't have a pizza slicer, so we used a sharp knife, which ripped the cheese and toppings off the bread. I understand how difficult this job is, but you'd think someone on staff could have a couple days' experience, so they could teach others how to take care of THE PEOPLE WHO PAY THEIR SALARIES. Sad that they're one of the only places in town. So we'll hope for a competitor to rise up and take our money soon. In the meantime, off to somewhere in Palatine or LZ. This the best pizza in the Barrington area, no question! And their menu has many other options including their homemade, fantastic eggplant parmigiana. We sometimes dine in - they have booths and tables and usually have some sports game on their televisions. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. We've been going here for years, ever since they moved to this new, larger location and finally have parking, They will also deliver. Beer and wine are available. Highly recommend this family restaurant UPDATE Sergios is better than ever. We recently dined in with two varieties of their pizza, and their beer and wine. We always enjoy their FRESH toppings, and their sauce is the best. The servers are very attentive and always offer new suggestions. Prices are very reasonable. Upon completion, I will give each restaurant a score based off a 1-10 scale and order them from best to worst. The places I will be reviewing are "Remember Charlotte's Pizza," "Pizza Factory," "Sergio's," and "Primo's Pizza." 'Sergio's' Sergio's pizza was disappointing to say the least. It's places like this that have made me lose trust in the Yelp community. With high Yelp praise, I was expecting top-notch Za. What I received however, was a slightly better Pizza Hut. There was little to no cheese and the crust was non-existent. The pie simply had no heart. As a sauce-man, I will say though, the sauce was not bad. It's a shame it came with such a soggy pie. Nonetheless, pizza's pizza. Was it still good? Yes. Did I hate it? No. Hotel? Trivago. Sergio's came through when I needed them! My sister was at good shepherd hospital ER for 8 hours and was finally admitted after dinner closed. Sergio's delivered and knew the hospital protocols to follow. This was heavenly given my sister was not even going to be able to eat! They were courteous, timely, and followed all the restrictions. My family and I have been ordering, delivery or pick up, from Sergios for 8 years. Their thin crust pizza is great and they have many topping options and the large pizzas are big enough for parties. Not to mention some pretty great wings. I don't have any negative things to say about Sergios. I hope it continues to do well because I really enjoyed their food over the years. Only note is the new point system they started isn't very clear not really sure how to use them or what they are used for. Also I'd love to see them try a double decker pizza.
