So I'm kind of critical when it comes to judging massages. And I just knew it wouldn't live up to my expectations. First off the price in America is just ridiculously high compared to overseas. But isn't everything I ask? An hour combo at $60 buys you 30 minutes foot massage and 30 minutes body massage without moving to a new spot or 30 minutes moving to one of those face down chairs for the body massage (more like neck and shoulder in the chair). Regardless it's almost the same since you are face down either way, the main difference being they would also work on your lower half if you didn't choose the chair. First off let's make no mistake. This a Chinese establishment. Like so many places in Houston. The guy up front is actually from the same Northern province in China as my dad is from. And the workers - all Chinese. The guy working the desk will interpret for them what the customer wants. Like one customer came in and didn't want the legs or arms massaged (focus time on back and shoulder). And I can see why as they spend a whole lot of time on those areas otherwise. I'd probably say the same thing if I were to come back one day. My masseuse was an older lady. The women's hands were unfortunately weak. It was late in the day so maybe that's why. Not much pressure whatsoever. The only time I felt something was when I was face down and she was using her elbow to grind it in my back. It hurt like crazy. A few times I encountered this same thing in Thailand and I always hated it. It is really the lazy man's method for giving a massage. They soak your feet in a bucket of warm water at the start of the massage. And they cover your eyes too with a towel. No music. And it was very quiet (they don't chit chat with each other). The guy at the front was a bit standoffish at first. He seemed to not like me taking photos and asked me why I was doing that. When I explained I'd be writing a review and wanted pics he seemed ok and actually got a whole lot nicer. So we got the $60 massage combo massage. And they went the full time which I know some places (or some visits) don't always do. Credit card usage has a $3 surcharge. My daughter's masseuse was waiting by the front door as we paid upfront which is usually what they do overseas too. I think it's usually to get a tip. But my masseuse was nowhere in sight so I actually had to have someone track her down so I could give her a tip which being in America I felt was the right thing to do. Actually overseas now the Americans have spoiled the Thais to where it's expected there too now. Sad to see a beautiful art polluted like that. We did $10 each on a $60 massage. And they seemed happy with that. I've included some videos of the inside and price chart. I think their hours are shifted back from what is posted on Yelp and Google Maps, seeing as folks were just coming in as it approached 9 pm. And the door actually says 10 am - 10 pm too.

We asked for the couples massage 60 min, which is only $120, +$3 If you use a card to pay. That's a great deal to me. And I am pregnant, so I asked if they have someone who is experienced. He called his wife to come from their other location and she arrived within 15 min. And it was just what we needed! While waiting for his wife Lucy, Luke helped put pressure and did some stretches and neck work on my partner, Chinese Tuian. And immediately after my partner felt tremendous relief! I was amazed. Especially bc he thought I could just give him a massage at home to work out the kinks. This Chinese Tuian was like magic with specific pressure points. Then once his wife arrived we began our couples massage. Mine was relaxing as I'm unable to receive too much pressure at 8 months pregnant. One thing I did notice is the massage Lucy did on my face helped clear my sinuses! Now I'm able to breathe well again! My partner's massage therapist used hot stones, and stretched him, did deeper pressure points. And he too has left feeling so much better than when we walked in. We are happy we found this place. Luke told us they have two locations and have been here for 15 years. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

You start by soaking your feet in a warm water basin while your masseuse leans you back in an easy chair and massages your scalp, temples, arms, neck & shoulders. Yep- all part of the foot massage!! Then they remove the water basin and massage your lower legs, feet, and toes into heavenly bliss. A few times she went too deep for me but i simply asked for softer and she immediately adjusted. As all of this is happening you're reclining in a comfy easy chair covered by a warm blanket. When she finished with my legs & feet, she escorted me into a private room where I laid face down, fully clothed, on a massage table. She then spent another 10 minutes massaging my neck, back and calves. So relaxing! She ends with this oddly relaxing, light punching up and down my back. The entire experience was just so much more than I was expecting for a "foot massage". At check out you can pay cash or credit but prices are discounted for cash. Also, with such low service prices they have a sign recommending a greater than avg percent for tip- $10-$15 is stated avg. I happily paid $10 for the foot massage tip (assuming the higher tip is for the full body massage). That means one hour massage with tip, all in, was only $38! A great deal for sure.

Always an awesome experience when the pressure is hard enough where anymore you would need an ambulance. Much better to have hard pressure than not enough pressure. Highly recommend. Updated 28 May 2016 Before leaving to Japan a week ago I scheduled another wonderful 90 minutes with June, and then met with Fah on my return for another combo, the perfect preparation and treatment for long haul flights and jet lag. Every visit, including the couples massage this morning, reinforces my conviction that Serenity Thai Massage and Spa is the best staffed and managed establishment of its kind. While I haven't met everyone here yet: June, Ploy, Nat, Da, Gan, and Fah are all professional, and the best massage therapists I've ever met. Any one of them would be a star at another establishment; finding all of them together is extraordinary. Don ================== Updated 28 April 2016 I would not have thought it possible for a massage at Serenity Thai Massage & Spa to get any better, but the 90 minute combination I received earlier this evening from Gan raised the bar once again. Gan, thank you. A very large percentage of the session with any of these ladies will be similar (I always book a 90 minute combination, and all the ladies are trained in Thailand). However, each lady has a slightly different style, will spend a different proportion of time focusing on the areas needing attention, and vary the time using different techniques. Every therapist checks regularly to make sure the pressure and focus of the session is meeting your needs. When I go back and read my previous reviews, I see a trend: the last massage is always the best. I've received massages from June, Ploy, Nat, Da, and now Gan. Each one has been the best. I'll happily go back to anyone of them (I have and plan to again); but I will continue to pursue the goal of meeting all the therapists at Serenity Thai Massage & Spa, and experiencing a massage from each. This strategy has worked well for the ten massages I've had over the past 18 weeks. Don ============================== Updated 27 April 2016 I'm currently in Japan and after the long flights over I had a massage through the hotel fitness center. The style here is shiatsu, which is helpful, and I had a better night afterwards, but it didn't provide the same relaxation I get from the combo Thai-Swedish massage I get from Serenity Thai Massage & Spa. I will return from Japan tomorrow evening getting back to The Woodlands on Thursday evening and hope to get home in time for a another session to help me recover from the nearly 18 hours of travel. Since my last update, I've had two sessions at Serenity Thai Massage & Spa, both with Nat. What can I say, Nat has been wonderful. The last massage I had from Nat was after my trip to Perth in Western Australia - an almost 30 hour trip each way. My hands and feet tend to get cold, but Nat knowing this used hot towels to keep my feet warm and place warm stones in my hands to keep them warm. It's this attention to small details that really separates these wonderful ladies from your franchise establishments. The combination of deep tissue massage, hot stone treatment, and use of hot moist towels resulted in possibly the best massage I have ever had. Thank you Nat. I'm flying back from Japan tomorrow and hope to recover from the trip with the help from the hands and feet of the talented ladies of Serenity Thai Massage & Spa. When I called Serenity Thai Massage and Spa to see who was available I learned the four of you were all working that evening. I decided to go with June again, and was not disappointed. I'll have to wait until my next visit to continue meeting the rest of the talented massage therapists. On that Saturday, my youngest son joined a gym and overdid his first day and was very sore the next morning. I called and set him up for his first visit to Serenity for a 90 minute combo with Nat. I figured Nat's extra focus on stretching would be good for his aches. He is now looking forward to his next visit. Thank you ladies! Update 19 February I returned to Serenity Thai Massage & Spa today as a Birthday treat for myself, and the lovely ladies had prepared a special celebration for me including a Birthday cake complete with candles! Today's 90 minute combo was delivered by Da, she was wonderful! I'm glad I decided to try each of the therapists here. If I had stayed with my first therapists, June, who probably gave me the best massage last December that I had ever experienced, I would still be receiving the best massages I have ever had! That was not even a Thai massage, and on top of that she's going to try to argue with me about the tip? She threw her hands up and said "go!"
