I always get wonderful massages here, but I just left one of the BEST massages I have ever had (and I've been getting massages for over 20 years). Rachel is AMAZING. I booked a last minute massage due to a migraine and not only did she take care of my migraine, but it was so incredibly relaxing. Pressure was just right, and I could feel her working out knots in muscles I didn't even know I had lol. My little sister went to get her hair done for a wedding this past month. She asked for the style on the left, which is nothing impossible to do. The result on the right is what she got. She had spoken up multiple times to adjust the style since it was more of a bun and not a twist. Although the stylist asked if she liked it, she didn't really make much change to what my sister wanted and had insisted for. My sister was visibly upset and in tears, and my mom had to call and ask for the owner to make it right. Not only did the owner gaslight my 13 year old sister saying she should've spoken up (which she did) she also made a bold statement saying "some people like these curls." I'm not sure WHO in their right mind would be ok with these frizzy, barely there curls. The fact that the owner would even support this type of work in her salon is beyond me. But I'm also not surprised since I haven't heard good things about Serenity's customer service. My sister left there with her hair looking mediocre. Terrible work and terrible service! I'm not from the QC area but I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied with my massage at Serenity. I was visiting my sister and we decided to make a spa day. At her suggestion, we made appointments for Serenity. I'd never been but she was raving about it and I was in desperate want and need of a massage after finishing a full year of grad school. Upon entering the small (shack looking) establishment, I was pleasantly surprised by the internal aesthetics. Everyone was welcoming and nice. I completed the required questionnaire before my massage. I met with Erin, my masseuse and she was amazing. She actually reviewed my questionnaire in front of me, asked me questions about my tight spots (upper back and shoulders-of course since I'm a student), empathized with me and offered essential oils for the aromatherapy part of the massage. I selected Bergamot and Lavender, a great combo for sensuality and relaxation. I undressed while she got the oils and lay down on my back face up (that was a first I've never started face up), she came back in and wrapped my hands in clothes with hot stones and legs with hot towels! Whoaaaa! I've never had that done either. The bed was also like a cloud, a big fluffy warm cloud, with heated blankets. I was already in heaven before she even started the massage. The massage started and that was 60 minutes of bliss. She put pressure in all the right spots that I needed it. Next time I'm going to get 90. Their prices are phenomenal (I'm from Chicago, this place is better than any Chicago/Chicagoland suburb location I've ever been too). Next time I'm visiting I definitely want to go back and see Erin. Post massage, I sat in their cute little waiting area where there's tea, water and chocolates. I was able to relax while waiting for my sister to finish her facial. Being from Chicago, it took me a long time to find a place that does everything in one stop. A true hidden treasure in the QC, the building doesn't look like much on the outside but it's one of the greatest places. I got my very first wax done, and in fact ended up doing "sugaring" instead. It was my first experience and Chelsey relaxed and talked to me the entire time she was amazing. Ali was my hair girl, and she will Now forever remain my hair girl. She's so much fun to talk to, relates to you and is just all around knowledgable when it comes to hair. Love her!!! read more

My hubby treated me to their "Labor of Love" package for my 2nd pregnancy. Prenatal Massage: my massage therapist was very nice and sweet, but they did not have the prenatal massage table or pillow, so it's very limited what they can actually do. She had me either on my back or side (for the last 15 minutes), neither of which were particularly comfortable or conducive to a good massage. I also never felt like I ever smelled the aromatherapy I picked out. Facial: the aesthetician was very good, and she did a great job with my skin. She listened to my concerns and addressed them. Really, the only downfall for this part is the room faces 16th street, and there was a TON of road noise making it very difficult to relax. Mani/Pedi: the actual mani/pedi felt wonderful, and the woman doing it was great and easy to chat with. I upgraded to a gel manicure. After a week the manicure was peeling, which was very disappointing. Also, initially I thought the paint job for the pedi was pretty good, but on closer inspection (which is hard when 8 months pregnant) the paint was uneven and splotchy. Overall, the employees were wonderful, but services and atmosphere were lacking. I will probably not come back to Serenity for services. read more

Really enjoyed the massage Part of the spa! I had Matt for prenatal and he was AWESOME! I don't typically have a male Masseus and Matt made me feel completely comfortable and more importantly he was able to give me the perfect pressure!! As an athlete I like a deeper tissue and this was my first prenatal- it was so good!! Only idea for the spa would be to have the neck and eye pillow semi warm for when you transition to it. read more

I have to say I was thoroughly unimpressed or satisfied for that matter. I went in for a 90 min deep tissue massage and I considered it to be an utter waste of money. If it wasn't for my boyfriend working with his hands all day and having arthritis, he could do a better job. He actually does, but he can only massage me for a few minutes at a time. I have been to my fair share of massage therapists throughout the years and this massage was not deep tissue or therapeutic by any means. It was more a fru fru, shiatsu, just gently rub me, which is not what I paid or specifically asked for. If what you are looking for is a gentle rub and just pampering with scented lotions and a couple hot stones on your hands then this is the massage for you. However, all the areas that I asked to be addressed were merely just massaged as any other part and not focused on. The pressure was nowhere near deep, even when I asked for more pressure. I know everyone gets to client requests in different manners and timing, but I am not looking at the clock nor do I know what your rhythm is, so when I ask you to address my neck and the front area of the neck, I would expect that to be done at some point. I kept waiting for her to get to it, but It was not. It was just the same ol, same ol that she most likely does on everyone and the front of the neck was not even touched. Also, when I stated that my lat muscle near and going into my armpit needed attention, I expect and KNOW it can be done. Again, I have had many a massage therapist be able to address these issues (front of neck, shoulder blade, and convergence of muscles and nerves in armpit area) and having the masseuse here state, "Oh, well, it's hard to get to that." Ummmm, no it's not. You just use your fingers and dig into the muscle. You do not just ball up your hand and try around the area and say, I can't really get at it. Overall, I wrote this review so others looking for a deep and therapeutic massage go elsewhere. Also, if anyone knows of someone that can do just that, please let me know. When I moved to the Quad Cities in 2011, I looked for a day spa that was inclusive of all the services I typically enjoy. I found it at Serenity Salon & Day Spa in Moline. For the past 7 1/2 years I have received excellent service from the salon team. They are professional, skilled, and very personable. The environment is so relaxing. The front desk staff know me by name and always ask if I would like a beverage. I recommend Serenity to my friends and receive positive feedback from them about their experience. My husband purchased a gift card for me which was sweet, but not something we can afford unfortunately due to him being permanently retired due to serious health problems, an me being the only provider, I seen the purchase the night he got it, and went it and asked if they could do a refund and was told yes but that I would need the card I said no problem I will get it and come back, came back a couple days later , and a very rude women told me they don't do refunds ever! But took my name and number for the manager, didn't get called so after a few days I went back in, and talked to this manager, Casey, and she said the owner has to authorize the refund and that she would talk to her and get back to me, a week went by, no call from the owner or resolution to this, I called today and again got the very rude women, who says they don't do refunds, which I know they can, I worked In Retail a service, and you absolutely can. She kept talking over me, and when I asked for the owners name she refused to give it to me. I will continue to call and hopefully be able to get a refund, I definitely would not recommend this place for the shear lace of customer service! I have had a knot in my lower back for months. I have tried creams, hot &/or cold packs, rolled on tennis balls & got sick on OTC meds. I went for a massage to see if I could get relief. My next step was going to be a dr office for pills or a shot. I met with Amber. I explained where and how bad it was hurting. She took the time to explain what she could do. She listened and understood what I needed. When she hit that spot... for a brief second I thought I was going to pass out! She was as gentle as she could be but very forceful on that knot. Within the hour of leaving I could already tell a huge difference. I slept through the night for the first time since Thanksgiving when it started My lower back is a little stiff but the shooting pain is gone!!! I know I let it go for way too long and it will take another session or two to get it completely gone. Once it's gone I will come back for just a relaxing massage. They do offer a full pampered spa day treatment that I do want to try once my back is fixed. The price was on average for a massage but I honestly thought I was going to be charged a lot more. I've been coming to Serenity for many years when I am in town and I've always received top notch care, attention to detail and amazing customer service. I've never had a bad experience here. My most recent visits included a prenatal massage in March by Rachel and a deep tissue massage in May by Kim. From the moment I was taken back to the spa waiting area, I immediately felt relaxed and at ease. Both massage therapists listened to my problem areas and addressed my concerns. I chose the citrus aromatherapy scent and it was wonderful. The massage rooms were very quiet, had soft spa music, perfect temperature and the room was dimly lit. Throughout both massages, my problem areas were addressed and the therapists always checked with me on how the pressure was. For my prenatal massage, I was laid on the table which has pillows that are strategically placed to support your belly, legs, and arms at a very comfortable level. It was so relaxing and my problem areas felt so much better afterward that I even forgot I was pregnant for a minute! It was truly the best experience! Both massages were a great combination of strength, knowledge and technique that made for a truly unique, and most importantly, therapeutic experience for me. I've had many massages over the years, both at day spas and resorts and Serenity always places number one in my book. I look forward to my next visit to Serenity! read more

Today my mother and sisters were supposed to come to Serenity for a spa treatment. My sister had purchased a gift certificate for my mom. My mom misplaced her certificate but my sister HAD THE RECEIPT. Serenity would NOT HONOR the receipt!!! Clearly the customer service is pathetic. A simple check of the records could have avoided a lot of trouble and loss of business. I hope the owner takes this review to heart and realizes this is no way to run a salon. I will be sure to tell EVERYONE about how my family was treated today. May your business decline and your doors close forever, Serenity Salon!! I have been to Serenity a few times. I went again today, and it was fabulous. If I was rating on today's experience only, I would give 5 stars. Today I went for a full spa experience, a birthday gift from my mom. I had a 90 min deep tissue massage, sinus relief facial, manicure, pedicure, and haircut. I started with the massage, and it was excellent. I had some tightness in my shoulders and upper back, and she worked it all out. She used her forearms a lot to put good pressure on my back and legs, and all in all, it was excellent. Whenever you get a massage there they also use aromatherapy in the massage lotion, and you have your choice of many scents. Today I used a rose/orange blossom blend, and it was my favorite so far. The facial was great, it hydrated my skin the way a traditional facial does, but was also designed to help with sinus relief, and halfway through I could start to feel everything loosening up in my sinuses. Then I had my pedicure, manicure, and finally hair cut and style. Everything I received today was A++, I just used 4 stars due to more mediocre experiences in the past. My total today for all services was $242, but I don't think that's overly expensive considering all the services that I had. And the esthetician gave me a $20 coupon for my next service with her. Also, I had one stylist for my mani, pedi and haircut, the haircut portion was $32, but I heard her tell the cashier that if my gift certificate didn't cover it, to mark the haircut down to whatever the certificate would cover. It did cover it, but I thought that was nice that she was willing to lower her fee to make sure I was taken care of. read more

I wouldn't even give them one star after the call I just had with my injector (Cassie).I had lip injections here and spent 950.00 with them and had bumps all over my lips and small pimple like things on my lips with juvederm underneath. They offered to fix their mistake with the juvederm that I had left which was suppose to be for a touch up but before she fixed the issue she made a comment "we have to remember lip injections are temporary". When you spend 950.00 with a company and you have bumps on your lips this is what they say to you!! After all my juvederm was placed in my lips I had another big bump on the bottom and another pimple on my lips. I made an appointment with a plastic surgeon to get his opinion which isn't for another 5 weeks.. today serenity called me to see how I was and after all my concerns they didn't say "let us fix it" or " come in and let's see what we can do". She said she wishes me luck going forward. Please do not go here for lip injections. It was a huge waste of money. If I can get another doctors opinion I will be pursuing getting some of my money back. After they had my money and all of my product was gone they didn't want to help me anymore. To make it worse this was my first time getting lip injections after years of contemplating. Worse experience ever!! read more

I'm not in Moline often, but if I lived here, I'd love to come to Serenity more often. I've had several full-body massages here, and they really can't be beat. The atmosphere is so relaxing, with the fireplaces and soft music, and I love the mint aromatherapy oil. I had Rachel this last time, and she was masterful. My mom swears by Svetlana and the 90-minute stone massage. I think the prices are reasonable as well. read more

I was also having sinus issues and felt off balance. I felt better the next day and have for a two weeks now. It was like a cleanse for my ears. Horrible experience with this place! Bought a spa package for my mother's 80th birthday and made an appointment 2 months out to get her ready for her grand daughter's wedding. On the day of the appointment she could not find the actual certificate. I have the receipt but they would not honor it. I just moved to the area and needed someone to maintain a fairly edgy haircut and color I have been evolving for years. I first came in and had a mani/pedi to get a feel for the place. Kayli did a great job on my pedi and gel nails. It was such a good experience I came back the next day for a haircut. Since then she has proved to understand what I am looking for and has the talent to make it happen. I will be seeing her regularly and am so glad I found someone local that I can trust to take care of my style - which isn't easy...I went to another local salon thinking that maybe anyone can do it, and it's been months and multiple trips for Kayli to fix that disasterous cut it as it grows out.
