I am in town visiting so it was my first time at AJ Nails & Spa. Mrs Thom and the rest of the staff was very pleasant. Mrs. Thom did a great job putting a new set of acrylic white tip nails on. The salon building has a very deceptive exterior appearance. It is a humble looking building on The Avenue of the Cities with parking in the front. But upon entering, you find the appearance to be surprisingly attractive and professional. There is a good number of nail stations and another room was visible, which had 10 pedicure stations. It is very clean. However, the chemical odor is extremely strong. My migraine got very bad, and I became extremely nauseous. This would've been a deal-breaker for me, but I badly needed the service at the time, and couldn't wait. I decided to tough it out. The service was very friendly. I was offered a drink, and saw a cooler with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options. I had a full set of acrylic nails removed and replaced. The job she did was excellent. My other really big complaint is the tipping system. They automatically add a tip to the charge for the service itself. I saw no signage as to this. I had no option to choose the amount of tip I felt the tech deserved. They add the tip as a percentage, because the tip amount on my receipt was not a round number. Overall, a good experience with two large complaints. You may or may not decide the nail quality and good customer service to be worth the overwhelming odor and the inability to make your own tipping decision. read more

Massively expensive. Asked for white tip and got some weird design . It's a nice atmosphere, but it's way expensive!

It was pricey and incredibly painful; my nails look like I did them myself at home. I spent $70, and the water was scalding hot. The guy was extremely rough, and now I have inflammation on my toe because of how harsh the pedicure was. I wanted to try a new nail salon, but it ended up traumatizing me. It was just a basic pedicure for $70, and to be treated like that was awful. The guy was silent and rough, and now my toenails hurt and my skin is irritated.the vibe was if you look like you don't have money you get treated differently. read more

First I would like to say I've came here only a handful of times since they opened. Every time I've came the pedicures have been amazing. Unfortunately, I can not say the same for the gel manicures. I was just there on Wednesday and a few of my nails have already chipped. This seems to be the case anytime I get a gel manicure here. Other places usually last 2+ weeks. I will attempt to go in next week to get them fixed. Depending on the result of that I may update my review. Update: my nails were fixed at no cost without any issues. I got my nails done here for a long time. I always set up an appt with Denny (the owner) or Mike. My last visit I called for an appt with Denny. I was early, and ended up waiting 10-15 minutes after my appointment time to get told another guy was going to prep my nails. Oh Em Gee. He was cutting off my cuticles! Why?? And he was about to cut me I said something and he still cut anyway! I was bleeding, bad. When the owner noticed they spoke in their native language and the guy brought over a liquid to help stop the bleeding. He kept cleaning up my other nails and he CUT me AGAIN! Luckily at that point the owner was done with his client and came over to assist. I was so upset. I was trying to remain calm but inside I was fuming and wanted to cry from the pain. I was getting all black matte with one nail rhinestones and told it'll be $10 extra for the rhinestones, okay that's what I want. In the end the nails didn't look horrible, and they did give me....$5 off for cutting me (wtf). But I haven't been back since. I feel I deserved more than $5 off. *So this shop does make it appear clean, very updated. But they do not use new files on clients. They use the same files and other equipment from person to person and not sanitized. Ps, the one that had my chunk of skin (and probably blood) went back in the desk. read more

Really like this new nail salon, the staff is friendly and very professional. They're up-to-date on the latest techniques. I've had a hard time finding a nail salon on this side of the river that will do ombre with powder, but they do! among a lot of other things. the shop is clean nicely furnished and they have the pedicure room completely separate from the nail room. read more
