This was another 4-hour long adventure... I think I am just going to have to give up and accept that my hairdressing trips will no longer be the 2 hours that I have grown accustomed to. Not only are the hairdressing visits twice as long but they are twice as expensive! Another Houston adjustment that will take a while for me...anyways I digress.
Serenity Hair Studio gives off a family feel, I instantly felt comfortable there, which was nice considering the length of time it took to complete my hair. Clean environment and talented hairdressers. I got a wash and set (wash, curlers, dryer and then style). I am used to the wash, followed by the curlers (placed under the dryer) and then a quick 10 minute blow-dry with style. I was told that blow-drying your hair provides more damage than ionized flat-ironing so I received that instead. Needless to say, I had a lot of volume since my roots weren't blow-dried straight - I was given a dry-wrap to try and reduce the volume. The hairdresser seemed surprised by the amount of volume that my hair had, but I wasn't.
After 7 pm they close down their card machines and don't take cards so if you are going to be there late take cash.
All in all, it wasn't bad, I just prefer my hair bone straight with as little volume as possible and a shorter turnaround time. They get 3 stars because they are good at what they do, 1 star removed for the unnecessary length of time (it should not take the same time for a wash and set as it does a perm) and 1 star removed because my hair wasn't what I really wanted, which is bone straight as I usually get it. Overall not a bad place, I would recommend it. read more
