Horrible experience overall. The first impression of the cafe was that it was very low quality and tacky. Strange art and what seemed like childrens toys overwhelmed the perimeter of the room, giving a weird vibe (but in more of an eerie way than a quirky way). The tables were folding tables were covered in plastic tablecloths, which didn't give me the clean appearance I was looking for. They also were very cluttered in appearance. On top of that, we were served water in disposable plastic water cups instead of glasses. Chips were brought out to us fairly quickly after we sat down, but they turned out to be extremely bland. We were also served garlic bread that was drenched in oil and burnt.
Although the dinner was brought out fairly quickly, the meal was cold and the size of the meal was insufficient to be identified as a full meal. The food was also presented very poorly, as if it was just quickly thrown on the plate. The food was also very, very overcooked and bland, similar to the chips served earlier on. I also found that the meal didn't work together. The foods were not of similar origin and didn't have flavors that complimented each other.
Although I appreciated the good cause that the Serenity cafe was working for and the welcoming attitude of the workers, the food was not by any means good. If the cafe really wants to bring in more customers, they will definitely have to make improvements to their menu and cooking skills. I usually do not find the need to review on yelp, but this cafe needs to realize that there is much need for improvement. read more
