I wish there were negative stars. I had a pedicure and when the tech started my nails, the color was different (pink vs orange). She asked me if I liked the color and I replied that I did but that it didn't match my toes. I wanted to match colors after one nail was polished and she started a second color which also was a mismatch. The manager can over and became very irate, accusing me of taking too much of their time. When I tried to tone down the discussion, he got even angrier. Made a huge scene in a crowded establishment. The tech's attitude was poor as well as she mislead the manager about what actually transpired. Terrible experience. read more

By far the worst experience I have ever had in a nail salon. I actually just walked out! From the time I walked in the door the experience was terrible! The woman sitting at the front asked me if I had an appointment and I said that I did not and she acted as if me being there was an inconvenience. She told me to sign in and wash my hands. It was a struggle signing In on the tablet and there was a delay. Then a male tech approached and told me that when I finished washing my hands go pick a polish, and then spun the tablet around like I was inconveniencing him and taking to long. Then pointed to the back and said wash your hands and pick a polish. I haven't been to this salon In many years and had no idea what I was doing or where to go. He sat down to do my nails and my fingers were a little tense and he said "Stop pulling away" I apologized and said that I am just a little tense. He said You can't do that" ( I never actually pulled away, my hand was very tense)he looked away to speak to another person and filed my skin, which made me continue to be tense. He took off my polish, put on the acrylic to fill in my nails in the growth areas. He then he got to the hand file. He filed my left hand and started my right hand. He got to my middle finger and cut me with the file. I jerked my hand and He looked at me and said in a very nasty manner "You can't do that!" I told him that it hurt and he cut me. He said this is not sharp I did not cut you. Do you want me to finish or not! I got up and said I'm done! I have never been treated so disrespectful and rude! He said "you need to pay" I took 20.00 out and tossed it to him. That's about all you did. He followed me out the door yelling, take your money and threw it outside at me! A customer that was walking in picked.it up and put it in her pocket. I have never been treated so terribly in a nail salon. I am so upset after being treated like this. I am a business professional and I could not imagine one of my team members treating a patient in this manner. I wish it would allow me to post a photo. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I walked in at 2:30 and they said they have nothing the entire day and night! i'm new to the area but I guess I won't ever go back to them because they were not only unavailable they were sort of rude! not sure why they keep their door open and their lights on if they're not really offering their services. I usually go to a place in owings Mills but since I live in bel air and didn't have enough time to make down there, I gave serene nails a chance and I severely regret it. The nails are chipping and lifting and it hasn't even been 24 hours. The acrylics the tech put down on my nails is extremely thick. He didn't have me wash my hands with water after trimming and smoothing out the acrylics so there are bumps that are visible because he painted over the dust. I do not recommend this place. Paid $38 for a crappy fill in and gave an $8 tip because I'm too nice but he didn't deserve it. read more

Philip is bipolar and rude. He does a good job but you never know when you'll be yelled at or made to feel like they don't want your business. If you are new and walk in, be prepared to basically get thrown out without an appointment. If you break a nail it's your fault and you have to be more careful. Go to Nail Design in Bel Air, better manis and they care about their customers read more

I've been getting my nails done for the last few years with Philip at Serene Nails and I always felt that he did a wonderful job. I have three young sons at home so I don't get to go often, but I haven't been to another salon in about three years. Yesterday I called from work at 4:30 pm and verified my appointment with Philip for 5:30. I got on the road and hit traffic, which made me 10 minutes late. As I parked I saw Phillip walking in with another woman. I called his name to greet him as I approached the door and he turned to look at me and immediately said "Why didn't you pick up your phone?? I called you like 10 times." I was shocked and looked at my watch. Again, I was 10 minutes late, but I'd even confirmed that I was on my way before leaving work. I've never been a no show and I've never cancelled an appointment last minute, so I'm not sure why he would assume I wasn't going to show up especially after only a few minutes. I asked Philip if he wanted me to leave, still shocked since I know Philip and have been seeing him for years. That's when the girl working the front counter, who I've never seen before, said in the most condescending tone and in an exaggerated slow pace as if I perhaps have a cognitive delay and couldn't quite grasp what she was saying "And that's why we should pick up our phones when people call us, ma'am." I said again, I was driving and using GPS. I'm 10 minutes late." Philip said NOTHING and just stood there staring at me. The youngish white woman with long brown hair at the counter again looked at me and in her same condescending tone said "Yes, but when people call we need to answer." In shock because I couldn't believe her attitude or that Philip would allow this employee to be so rude, I simply explained to the young, rude girl that phones have a safety feature built in so that drivers are not disturbed while using GPS. It's like she didn't know how cell phones work or about driving safety! She said again in her nasty, dismissive tone "Yep! Thanks for the tip, ma'am! Good to know!" I just said "Never again" and walked away. I always get the extra nice spa pedicure either dip or gel nails. I tip well, and I try to be considerate and patient. I was treated so badly, and in front of SO MANY patrons and other workers. I will NEVER go there again. I've attached my call log from while I was driving. You can see Philip started calling me every minute starting at 5:37 until I arrived at 5:40. Ten minutes late and he decided to cancel my appointment and take the lady from the parking lot. So very disappointing. Absolutely no customer loyalty even for customers who have been loyal to them. read more

Jen is awesome! Fixed my botched dip powder manicure that I had. Great conversation as well. She was gentle with the drill unlike most salons where they like to dig into your skin while rushing. Plus they use liners for their pedicure stations! I'll definitely be returning. read more

I feel compelled to write a review for an olive chrome mani I got a couple of weeks ago, mostly because it was exceptionally better than my last few I had in different salons around town. I won't name them specifically because I know business is hard enough during Covid but do want to recognize the gentleman manicurist at Serene who did this one. I pay attention to detail in my manicures (as I wish all manicurists did), and this guy absolutely did. I didn't get his name but at the time he was the only gentleman in the shop. The specific details I am talking about are that he wrapped the tips of each nail with polish, the clear topcoat covered the entire area of the fingernail and he got the polish all the way down to the base of my nail *just shy* of touching the cuticle. Perfect really. Not having these three things done is a pet peeve of mine and usually what keeps me just painting my nails myself but I decided to switch to gel recently so to the salon I have had to go! He nailed all three, wonderful. read more

Enjoyed my experience at Serene. The technician was careful, focused, and fast. My nails turned out great. No excessive small talk, and a TV right in view. I would give it 5 stars but their prices are significantly higher than other salons for the same service. I might keep going here because it is so close to my house, but saving $10 to drive 5 mins further might outweigh the geographical bonus. read more

Went there on September 28Th was talked into the "dip" nails so I tried. It is now October 9Th and I have one broken off nail and atleast 3 cracked. Called to have them replace with gel as these nails are not good they will not replace with different product without charge. I already paid $45 for these a week ago $50 with tip. Will not stand behind product and make right for customer so I will take my business elsewhere. read more
