When I asked where this law was written so I could review it -- a standard, reasonable request -- she reacted as though the very idea of a patient wanting clarity was somehow inappropriate. For the record, I had no issue completing the paperwork, and I did so. The issue was the manner in which a simple inquiry was met with unnecessary defensiveness, lack of transparency, and a level of hostility that was entirely unprovoked. Going forward, clearer communication and a basic level of respect toward patients asking straightforward questions would go a long way. At the very least, it would prevent encounters like this -- where the paperwork wasn't the problem, but the treatment was. This is also not the first interaction I've had with Susan that felt unnecessarily abrasive. I can't recall the exact date, but the tone and dismissiveness were nearly identical.
