I came across this tea shop because of a Collab pop up with Black Label Donuts. What a lovely shop indeed. Met the co-owner Chris and spoke about the teas on hand. The space is cozy and limited for seating (I noted one bench by the window) so I'm guessing it's meant for more retail use. The teas are displayed on the wall in each tin or box. Descriptions of each after labeled on the packaging as well. These are all boxed/loose tea. Notable mentions, Imperial Matcha, Fiji tea with fruit notes, rose hip, Earl Grey and fancy oolong to name a few. I am a huge fan of tea so I'm definitely coming back to get more. read more

We have been buying loose leaf teas from here for years! We had it for the first time at Artisanal. We favor the Buccaneer (a chocolate based tea) and Persian Nectar (a peach based tea), but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. We also enjoy the Congo Bongo (a coconut tea). They also sell small tins of tea so you can try flavors without breaking the bank. The customer service is great when you go to the store (we normally buy online). They make recommendations of teas to try when you tell them your preferences. They sell a lot of tea paraphernalia. Enjoy fellow tea totlers!! read more

I used to work in a place that sold Serendipitea in NY, which is where my addiction started. My first love was the "passion and envy" green tea, second was the "fjji". Their blended green teas are the best combinations that I have ever had. When I moved from NY to Portland, OR my old bosses would send me Serendipitea. Now I just order online every few months. Their sales are great too. I always find a new favorite tea by picking a sale one out that I haven't tried. read more

The only negative: minus one star for expensive prices. Everything else is positive. I discovered Serendipitea when I was at that asian place on Bleeker and Carmine (Box 45, is it)...looking at their tea list and it was fantastic. So many exotic blends, and they were perfect together. I started off with the Rose Concoction -it had a more sexy name, but it was more or less white tea with roses in it. Delicious. Smooth. Floral. Flagrant. I proceeded to buy a shit-ton of the stuff online, at a *nice* pricetag. But it's so so good. I can sit with cups of that stuff and just relaxxx. I was extremely excited when I found out their store was opening in Manhasset, a town over from where my parents live (chaching: no shipping costs). Would definitely give this place a whirl if you are a tea connaisseur (or connaiseuse) with a bit of cash in the wallet. read more

Serendipitea (NY Chocolate Show) - Out of principle, I refused to pay any add-ons when they already charge you for admission. Grant it, I got in free but still, it's the principle. I was able to smell what their teas were comprised of and liked what I smelled. They have combos such as the Buccaneer (choco & coconut), Xocalatl Chai (masala chai & choc bits), One Upon a Tea (choco w/ rooibos & mint), and Strawberry Kisses (choco & strawberry fruit blend). I was visiting my friends and we decided to go into SerendipiTea. We where ignored from the get go. I'm from Poland and speak little English. I was asking the staff a question and apparently they got frustrated with me, she sighed and walked off. My friend saw how upset I was and started to say something. I am a big fan of tea and I am always extolling its benefits. I enjoy visiting SerendipiTea (not a fan of wordplay) and exploring and experimenting with their custom made blends. I really enjoy the ritual of browsing their selection, discussing with the staff their recommendations and then taking home my purchase and preparing for myself a cup. If you're looking for a gift, I recommend the "bouquet of flowers" tea package.
