I just got back from this store and I couldn't be happier. Courtney helped me and my friend pick out just the most beautiful and practical clothes. I got everything from bras to a winter jacket to sexy dresses. All of which can be used for nursing and after baby comes too. I had so much fun today and highly recommend this store. Fantastic customer service experience! I have been so frustrated trying to find maternity clothes that fit, look nice, don't feel cheap & itchy against the body, and don't fall apart after a few wears. I walked into Seraphine on Soho, was immediately greeted by friendly who helped me find tons of great items that suited my needs and style. The clothes are really well-made and feel nice to wear. I walked out with practically a whole new wardrobe! Super happy with the clothes I got, and the excellent customer service I enjoyed. The clothes are not cheap but I think the value is great - and the day I went they were having a big sale, so I was actually able to get a ton of great new pieces for a reasonable price. Excellent service and food! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. The four of us had pasta and some of the salads. Everything was super flavorful! Service was on point! If I had to find to be picky about, I would say the bathrooms should be cleaned and stocked. We had to go to the bar for napkins since no TP. read more

Three stars for cute and affordable maternity clothes that can be worn post pregnancy for nursing. Zero stars for no bathroom (everyone in here is pregnant!!) and non existent service. On a fairly slow afternoon, sales associates barely acknowledged me and all gathered near the front of the store chatting among themselves. I got no help until I literally asked someone "does anyone actually work here?" Now that I know my size, I'll shop exclusively online. I was going to buy one of their down jackets for a trip to Alaska coming up soon, where it's expected to be cold even in spring. I noticed that the only rating it gave was "warmth level 4" with no indication of the actual temp rating or fill power. I asked online customer service about this and they said it's suitable for "snowy climates". Unfortunately that didn't really narrow things down as it can snow and be 30 degrees or snow and be -30. When I pointed this out, Selihom literally left me on read and refused to give a legitimate answer. At that point I started looking for reviews and saw how terrible they were, so I took the $600 of other items out of my cart. Terrible customer service if they're not even willing to provide basic necessary information. read more

Think carefully before ordering from Seraphine! I returned an item two months ago. It took a month for the item to reach them, which was annoying but manageable. What makes me angry is that it has now been 18 working days since they received my item and not only have they not sent any additional correspondence, they have not issued me a refund or responded to my requests. Their website clearly said to expect the refund within 14 working days, which is already ridiculous and they can't even manage that low bar. read more

This is my second time at this store shopping for a dress for a special occasion. Both times I was 5+ months pregnant. The selection is great. But the assistance in finding what I needed was even better. The store manager, Gina, was super accommodating in helping me find the right outfit and size. I usually don't look for assistance in finding things but I definitely appreciated having the help and guidance. I like Seraphine. The quality of the clothes are really nice. With my petite frame, not all the clothes sit well on my body. I did manage to find one dress that fit nicely. So, if you're petite like me, you're better off going to the store to try it on rather than ordering online. The sizing is European sizing. Returns: you can return purchases for a full refund if you buy online. If you buy in the store you have 15 days and will only get store credit. This store credit only ( or exchange ) return policy is annoying. Customer service : just ok. They ask me, "So how did it fit"... I proceed to answer. Sales associate just stares at me with no response with her voice or on her face. Haha. Maybe I wasn't supposed to really answer the question? I did appreciate that when the size I needed was not on the floor, they went to find another size in the back. I like this boutique experience. You don't feel too overwhelmed with the merchandise and it's easy to look around. Price points for dresses range from 78$ to 250$ depending on the style. Tax is included in the price so, whatever price you see on the tag is how much you'll pay. read more

All the reviews on here are pretty much spot on. Went in on a weekday afternoon and there was NO ONE in the store so I had the one sales lady all to myself. After reading previous negative reviews, I thought I would at lease have an OK experience. I told her I was a pre-pregnancy size 8 and all she brought me were 6's and 2's. UMMMM. Worst part was I had a gift card from my mother in law and I couldn't even use it because it was valid ONLINE only. One good thing was that I was able to try on the jeans before I purchased but had to wait for shipping and PAY for shipping. Not worth it. read more

CANADIAN CUSTOMERS DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE!!!!! I ordered a maternity dress from the US site. It was awful, so I want to return it. On the US site it does specify that for customers outside the US, they have to pay for shipping. Which, I assumed would be to the US. However, their warehouse is in BELGIUM so Canadian customers wishing to return an item have to pay for postage to BELGIUM, not the US. Absolutely ridiculous. I ordered a sweater and leggings for my daughter - in - law as a gift. I received an email that both items were shipped. The package that arrived contained only the sweater. I checked my email again and the only email I received was Seraphine was a refund was issued for the leggings. I called customer service was told the leggings were out of stock. I even paid express shipping since I needed these items immediately. I will not order from this company again. read more

A maternity store that does not allow its pregnant customers who have just spent money there to use the bathroom should not be in business.

CAUTION: WILL NEVER ISSUE REFUND. I have bought a bunch of clothes from Seraphine online and returned some for a refund within 14 days without problem. I don't live in NY but was in NY twice for work so went to the store. Bought some clothes and went to return them 13 days later when I was back in the city. They refused to issue a refund, saying the store has a different policy from online, it was printed on the receipt, and I was told about it when I bought the clothes, which was not true. I remember very clearly being asked whether I knew about the 14 day return policy, to which I replied yes, because that is their online policy. Nobody mentioned that they do not issue refunds, only store credit or exchanges. Store credit is useless to me because I don't live in NY. I also never would have bought the clothes (which I was on the fence about and wanted a 2nd opinion) if they had told me there were no refunds. Store manager was adamant that I was wrong and her employee did tell me about the policy. She seemed to think it would make me feel better to tell me that earlier this morning, someone bought a dress and came back to return it 15 minutes later and she refused to issue a refund. Just made me even less impressed by the store. Recommend avoiding on principle. read more

I had a horrible experience here yesterday. I came to try on a wedding dress, but I didn't love any of them, so I gave up on the dresses and asked the sales associate to show me the dress pants, which I needed for work. The pants didn't quite fit right because she gave me a size 6 in a style that ran small, and a size 8 in a style that ran big, so I asked her to get me the size 8 in the one that ran small, and the size 6 in the one that ran large. She went to the basement again, but I guess misunderstood what I wanted and got me a size 6 and a size 8 the same style. I apologized for the confusion and asked her to please get me the six 6 in the other style. Then she told me I should just go shop online. I was kind of taken aback so I said "Okay, I'll just leave." She nodded and then walked away. After I got dressed I confronted her and said, "I can't believe you told me to go shop online." She said she thought I was just trying them on for size and I was just going to buy them online anyways...I had never said that. I don't know why she assumed that. Maybe because I showed her a picture of a dress that I had found online? After I confronted her, she barely uttered what could amount to a half-hearted apology, and said that the store was busy. I had no problem waiting a few minutes for the next time she could go to the basement. But I felt like it was more that she wanted me out of the changing room so that the people that she assumed were going to spend money could get in there. It was really frustrating, because I wanted to buy pants that fit me, I had already confirmed that the one pair fit and I was 90 percent sure that the other style would fit me as well in the 6, and then she pretty much kicked me out of the store and told me she would no longer help me. I waited until last minute to look for a maternity dress for my baby shower. I ordered 3 dresses online from ASOS because everyone said they were amazing. They came in and I looked like a circus tent in them, and that's when I realized I didn't know how to shop for maternity clothes. I walked into Seraphine and was so happy to have been greeted like a human being and allowed to look around without being pounced on by a sales associate. I grabbed a few things and a fitting room was set up for me- after trying on a few dresses that were okaaaay and plain. Sabrina and Gina were the two ladies that helped me and when I finally admitted I needed help looking for a baby shower dress- they quickly went to work and brought me dresses I wouldn't look twice at. "Don't let maternity dresses on a hanger discourage you" Sabrina told me. And SHE WAS RIGHT!! I left with 2 other dresses and over the bump leggings that are saving my life at work!! If it wasn't for Sabrina and Ginas help and expertise on how these maternity dresses fit I would've been a circus tent at my baby shower read more

Buyer beware. Store has an incredibly inflexible return policy that does not at all cater to pregnant women who are experimenting with what to wear as their body changes shape. Exchange or store credit are the only options when you change your mind about an in-store purchase, even inside 15 days. The credit can only be used in store where there is limited inventory as compared to online. This was NOT well communicated at the time of purchase. Shopping here feels like a scam. read more

The bad reviews are true! Very rude sales person!! I wish I got her name to write it here. I went to exchange a dress and she accused me that I wore it before, and didn't allow me to exchange. I explained to her that I never wore the dress, and I'm exchanging it within the 14days policy, she's violating their own policy, but she still refused. The ticket was still on, the dress wasn't worn ever. Extremely rude!!!! Made me drive 30 minutes to the other location in uptown to make the exchange which was seamless btw, they didn't ask any questions. Don't go to this location!! read more

Let me start off by saying that when I walked in it was my second visit to the store since I started my pregnancy. I have become pretty desperate to try items on before purchasing and many of the maternity options in Manhattan have disappeared recently. I didn't have the best experience my first time, but I figured I would give the store another shot. I am sorry I did. The sales people were less than helpful. They spent the entire time chatting back and forth and didn't even acknowledge me until I went to the fitting room. This is when things went from slightly annoying to just rude. I tried on a couple of dresses. When I came out one of the sales people asked me how far along I was, I replied 12 weeks to go. She had a bit of shock on her face. My bump is not that big and I'm carrying very low so I look "less pregnant" than I am. She then thought it would be cute to comment "Oh looks like the baby is all your behind". Hmmmmmm, that's an interesting comment to make to a pregnant woman. Last time I checked pregnant women expand to support the HUMAN BEING WE ARE MAKING. I really didn't know how to respond, so I just changed into my clothes and left the store. As I walked out I did think of a witty response "I'm 7 months pregnant, what's your excuse for a fat ass?" Needless to say I will not be back ever again. Serpahine Soho needs to train their staff to actually help pregnant women (THEIR ONLY CLIENTS) select flattering clothing and not insultstheir ever changing bodies-especially given the price point of lycra dresses that should be $40.... Today I went to purchase a dress. I have to say, Natasha, --the sales associate-- was so very helpful and pleasant. The store did not carry my size on the floor yet Natasha in the midst of it being busy went out of her way to see if they had it in stock elsewhere in the store. She could have easily dismissed my request and said "sorry , no other sizes at this time". Natasha went way out of her way to accommodate me. Really, a very nice person. And this was at the end of a very long day of work. I manage a boutique, and if I were looking to hire, she would be my first choice. Thank You to Natasha and to the manager as well. She was also very tired and explained to me that the day did not start out well but she was still very nice. Everyone at this store was very human. It's nice not to have to buy all my maternity clothes online BUT beware that the store hours are NOT ACCURATE. They typically lock the doors about ten minutes before the actual closing time which is INFURIATING, especially when you're slow and pregnant and don't have too many alternatives. If you say your store is open until 6 o'clock, that doesn't mean 5:50 pm. Some people can just shop quickly in ten minutes. If this wasn't one of the ONLY maternity stores in downtown Manhattan, I would boycott based on their unknown "early close" policy. read more

I got bunch of things at the store including 2 seamless maternity bras - $59 each. After ONE wash, one of the bras started to fall apart (hooks on back of the bra fell off). I called the store and told them about the situation. The lady was very rude to me - she pretty much told "I don't know how you wash your clothes but this store has been around forever so it's your fault because you don't wash your bra properly". She told me I can bring the second bra back (I never removed the tags) but only for store credit as they don't accept returns EVER. I was never communicated their return policy when buying clothes at their soho location. Bottom line: they have rude unhelpful staff, poor quality product and are not willing to work with you when you are simply upset about the fact that the bra you paid $59 for is falling apart after one week of use/one wash. And I'm not the first customer with the same problem - if you look at yelp, you'll see negative reviews about their bras and customer service. Do not buy their bras. Do not go there as they will treat you poorly. read more

Sold my wife a damaged dress. The clerk refused to admit it was damaged and refused to refund the dress, despite buying hundreds of dollars worth of other clothing. Would only give store credit. I like Seraphine for maternity clothes. I was hesitant about the store given the reviews about customer service but I was pleasantly surprised. I found everyone to be very helpful and kind - near perfect customer service. One star off for their bizarre return policy (which is different from their online policy). Not a fan and I usually just brush these kinds of issues off because I never have time to deal. But I was not happy with how my situation was handled so I want to warn other people before purchasing from this store. There were defects in the silk of a very pretty $229 dress that I did not realize were there until I wore the dress for a wedding. It was in the same garment bag they gave me and I never took it out until the day of the wedding. (Sorry that I don't wash my dresses before I wear them but what pregnant lady has time?) They were really nice on the phone when I called and said to please come in so the manager can look at it. When I went to the store, the manager first told me right away that it was a steaming issue. I work in fashion and I knew that wasn't the case but I was patient and let her take it back to steam it more and look at it carefully. She came back out to say that I was probably holding my child or I was holding my purse or something that made the defects. She was basically saying it was my fault that I didn't see it in the store and she didn't know if I being honest. So since she didn't know if I was being honest she could discount the dress 20%. I think the dress is really pretty and I just wanted one without any pulls in the silk because who wants to buy a new dress that already has defects? The manager said that it was the only one they had in the store. Well no wonder they wouldn't help me out except for a 20% discount. They were trying to see if they could sneak sell this dress without the customer knowing and because of their horrible return policy they got away with it. I'm never going back there and definitely not recommending this store to any of my future pregnant friends. I should have looked at rent the runway first for a nice formal dress. That part was my fault and I'll own up to that. read more

It is with sadness that I write such a poor review because I do like their clothing. I cannot speak for the stores; this is a review of their online service. I had placed an order with them and listed my work address as my shipping address. However, I went on maternity leave afterwards, and for my next two orders, I put my home address as the place to which to ship the orders. The confirmation emails I received confirmed that the orders would indeed be shipped to my home. However, the DHL shipping notifications that I received afterwards said that the orders would be delivered to my work address regardless. The first time, I did not check the address on the DHL shipping notification because I assumed it would be the same as in the confirmation email. However, the second time, when I received the shipping notification and saw that my work address was again listed, I called them during their business hours in order to try to get the shipment delivered to my home as I had requested. But no one picked up the phone and no one returned my voice message. Considering this is a company that caters to pregnant women and women who are nursing, it's extremely frustrating that I had to travel to the wrong address twice - the first time when I was 39 weeks pregnant, and the second time with my one month old baby. read more

I love Seraphine clothes, but this store location doesn't have great customer service - something that's very important for a store like this. I usually shop at the Upper East Side Seraphine location. I shopped at the SOHO location once, and I noticed a world of difference in the customer service between the two locations. I arrived about 40 minutes before closing on a Saturday and the two women working kept talking loudly to each other about closing time, how long their day was, and how excited they were to close - it was as if they were trying to send me a clue to hurry up and get out. They were helpful in that they got me extra sizes or colors of items I asked for - but I was just put off by their less than subtle "hinting". I checked out at 6:55...yes I was the last customer, but no, I didn't stay later than their hours! read more

To begin with, this Seraphine location has no bathroom. A maternity store without a bathroom? Shocking! Does not make for a pleasant shopping experience when you have to trek down the corner in the rain to wait 20 minutes in line at Starbucks to use the restroom. Secondly, I came shopping with my friend and neither one of us were asked if we needed assistance during the hour that we spent there. While there were 3 people working the floor that could openly see me walking around with clothing in hand, no one asked me if they could start a fitting room for me. My friend had to eventually ask someone to start one for me. There is an experienced woman who works there that has helped me in the past and she, as usual, was helping customers in the fitting area, but the other 2 sales assistants either walked the floor aimlessly or chatted about what to order for dinner. At a type of store such as Seraphine, you would expect a much better level of customer service, especially in a maternity store where assistance is often needed with sizing. I had been very much looking forward to visiting as I needed quite a few maternity additions for my wardrobe, but only left with a few things and great disappointment. Quite the turn-off and will make sure to spend my money elsewhere in the future. read more

I figured out there is an upper Eastside location! I called in the morning and spoke to Maria, who very nicely put a couple of dresses on hold for me. When I arrived later in the day, she was super friendly and was most helpful in finding dresses that would look good and she knew exactly what size I would be in every style she gave me. They even have pajamas, pantyhose and bras, just ask and she will get you what you want! There is definitely something for everyone in the store. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the prices, nothing was outrageous compared to some of the other stores I have seen. Jeans were no more than $85 and they had excellent dresses and sweaters for all occasions. There were several customers in the store and Maria was dealing with every one of them in a professional and sweet matter. I am almost 8 months pregnant and my only regret is that I did not know that the store and Maria were here a few months ago when I could have used a little pizzazz in my wardrobe. read more

Ok, I'm frustrated and disappointed. Confirming the issue with a bathroom (I asked to use one while shopping there the other day and yes, they won't let you use it). Today I came in looking for a basic leggings. I asked a girl (possibly Ana, that's how the other girl called her, but not sure, she never introduced herself) to show me the options available, she offered me to try 2 pairs. After I decided to go with one of them, I bought it and before leaving the store I checked online, where I found another pair looking almost the same, but less expensive. I asked her if they had those and yes, they did. I don't understand why she didn't show them at a first place when I asked about the options, I was the only customer in the store for this whole time, so not that she was very busy. So I had to go to the fitting room and go through this dressing-undressing process again on my third trimester. The new pair looked better and felt a bit thicker which I liked so I went for exchange immediately. She offered a store credit for the price difference as the new leggings were cheaper. I refused since I specifically asked to show me all available options when I entered the store, and she just showed me 2 more experience ones. Luckily there was the other girl who called a manager and was able to void the transaction and make an exchange, thanks for that. That first girl never apologized for the inconvenience. After all this she just came upon me to let me know that the store was closed while I was sitting on their chair after this complicated transaction and waiting for my uber to arrive (it was freezing outside). So she just let me out at 6pm sharp. This whole time the music in the store was on and off which felt weird. The price tag on a new leggings was wrong... Horrible and very disappointing experience. they delivered a $1,000+ order to an area in my neighborhood marked treated with rat poison and not to my home. nobody from online customer service replied i brought the clothes to the store the ladies flat out refused to help me. i sat there over an hour refusing to leave till i was refunded and then they made me carry rat poison covered clothes back with me and didnt give me a refund. the ladies were so catty and nasty and made me delete my recording of their disgusting behavior regardless going to share with pregnant moms dont go here. read more

Seraphine's clothes are nice but you better hope they fit because they have a terrible refund policy. I got a voucher for my birthday and when I got the clothes I ordered, all items were one size too big, even though I ordered the size I usually wear. Since direct returns don't work with Seraphine, I had to send the clothes back and reorder. Since I am almost at the end of my pregnancy I couldn't wait until they had processed the return of the items that didn't fit and ordered the SAME clothes but one size smaller, assuming that this would be a normal return process. Only after I received the new clothes (which fit and are good quality) did I realize that I won't get back the money from my returned clothes, but a voucher, which means I spent the money twice. Customer service was extremely unhelpful, repeating in identical emails that it is not possible to get money back from a voucher and ignoring my argument that I had simply returned items that were too large. Instead they wanted me to send back the clothes that fit me and wait to get the money back, not caring at all that a) I won't be pregnant forever and b) what a total waste of energy and resources it is to constantly send packages back a forth just for the heck of it. I was forced instead to order more clothes from them - which I REALLY hope fit. Because I certainly won't try to send them back again. What a total waste of time, energy and money. The customer service at this location leaves a lot to be desired. On my first visit I was not asked if I needed help finding anything and so I helped myself, looking through the merchandise and selecting items to try on. Most of the stock is brightly colored separates suitable for office wear, something akin to Ann Taylor Loft with room for a baby bump. Not my cup of tea really, but I figured I can't go wrong with black, so I selected two items, a black maternity dress and black over the bump leggings. As the sales associate rang me up I mentioned that I was in the market for basic layering pieces like these ones and she offhandedly mentioned that they sell a lot of these, that actually both items are part of Seraphine's signature "Bump Kit". Wait a second, I said, should I be buying the kit instead? It turned out that the two items I was about to purchase came to $114, and the "kit" is four items for $149. So I quickly asked if I could purchase the kit since it was a better deal, and the sales associate found it in my size--I asked her to help me make sure that I was buying the same two items that I had tried on. When I got home I put everything on and discovered that the leggings and the skirt were different shades of black. I went back to the store and talked to another sales associate, explaining that two items in my kit didn't match as intended. She informed me that "This is the kit" and they can't make changes to the kit and acted as if I was being unreasonable. I calmly explained that how I had tried on the dress and leggings and intended to buy them separately, then learned about the kit, etc. etc. and she agreed to "make a big exception for me" and "bend the rules" to let me return the leggings and buy the leggings I had originally tried on. She found a new pair of leggings and I tried to take them out of the bag to verify that they were the ones I was looking for but she stopped me, saying "They're the same ones. I'm making a big exception for you." She seemed to be a difficult person and so I checked that the shade of black was correct, thanked her profusely for her help and suggested that perhaps they might bring some feedback to their company that selling kits of basics that don't match doesn't make a lot of sense. When I got home I pulled all the tags off my purchased items, relieved that this experience was over, only to discover that the sales associate had given me the WRONG PAIR OF LEGGINGS. The ones I ended up with are indeed the right shade of black, but go under the bump, not over the bump. Because I refuse to ever go back to this store I will make them work. But bottom line, I'd do your maternity shopping elsewhere, or shop online. read more

They are bit pricey but you get what you pay for. There is a nice selection of good quality maternity clothing. The saleswoman that helped me was helpful as well making suggestions for me and a few trips downstairs to get me sizes. read more
