There are several picnic tables, a port-a-potty, a splash pad (wasn't operating since it's winter), and a playground. Our four-year-old and 17-month-old both had fun playing and found plenty to do. Overall, a good place not far off the highway for a quick rest stop.

Great food at the marina, just one cook, so expect a 30-minute + wait. We rented three cabins for three nights. One cabin had two air conditioners. The other two had only one AC for two rooms. One cabin had a black glass stove top with no instructions on how to use, and an enormous microwave and all kinds of settings with no instructions. The huge microwave was sitting on a table next to the counter by the stove. No chairs for the table. Although 2 folding chairs were delivered. Nasty ceiling fans, windows, cobwebs, wasp nests and a lot of dirt; some windows were covered with blinds. They all needed a good cleaning inside and out. Each cabin had one door for entry and exit and had a one-inch gap allowing cool air to escape and hot air to enter. Which also allowed anyone to reach in and unlock the door. While the facilities were amply furnished, not everything worked. While I cannot recommend a summer stay, a late fall stay might be nice as there is a fire place in each cabin and the outdoor facilities were accommodating with a grill and a metal ring for a fire.

In winter there are several kinds of gulls, lots of pelicans and cormorants. There are fishing areas above and below the dam as well as areas down the river. Several boat ramps have been closed due to silt and them not wanting to spend money to maintain them. It is getting pretty grown up now, but you can still follow the roads to the side of the river to look for birds or fish. The closed boat ramps are secluded and there is poaching, be careful.
