They have a museum, and the displays are good but they only concern the Trail of Tears. That's something that I do feel everyone should know about but it would have been nice to broaden the museum to other aspects of the Cherokee life. Outside there are two different areas. One is set up as a rustic town, much like the Cherokees would have been living in after the white people moved in. The other is set up to be an authentic Cherokee village pre-invasion period. The town is nice and quite interesting. We had a good time going through it. The village, however, was a huge disappointment. The tours were only being conducted on the hour and we had just missed the last one. Rather than wait for the next tour (a 50 minute wait in 90+ degrees), we decided to just walk around on our own. We were stopped and told that we could not do that. I paid my money to visit the museum and village but did not get to experience all of it. We were not told that we could ONLY visit the village as part of the tour. I don't see any reason why it's okay to wander on your own through the town but not through the village. Whoever is in charge of this place needs to pull their head out of their butt and get with it. I probably won't return to this place. It's a fairly long drive from Tulsa and I could spend my time doing better things. If they ever fix it up to where I can view it at my own pace, then maybe. As it stands, it's just not worth the effort.

It's such a special treat to see so much authentic Cherokee art for sale, with beautiful works at every price range. There's truly something for everyone. The gift shop is really pretty too, with prints, stained glass, and even supplies like reed for basket making. Bonus: There's a café on-site as well (I hope to try those Indian taco sliders next time!). The Spider Gallery is a highlight of the Cherokee art walk experience in downtown Tahlequah. It's part of the Cherokee Cultural Pathway, a free outdoor walkway featuring large-scale art by Cherokee Nation artist Keli Gonzales, on display through October 4, 2026. The Pathway connects to other must-see stops like the Cherokee National History Museum and the Cherokee National Prison Museum. There was a wide variety of quality artwork available that really showcased the culture of Tahlequah as well as their Cherokee heritage. The Spider Gallery has a perfect location of being in central downtown on Muskogee, or as Tahlequaians say, Main Street. You can also find tools and supplies for many traditional art making mediums including basket weaving and pottery. The gallery opens up to a long corridor with bistro tables and two meeting rooms next door. You'll definitely want to visit the Cherokee Art Center which is right around! The name "Spider Gallery" is taken from traditional Cherokee folklore.

There are actually two bridges here - the highway bridge that has two lanes of traffic in each direction and the parallel Harmony bridge that is a pedestrian and bicycle route also known as the Riverwalk Trail. I'm not sure if it's Tulsa, Bixby or the State that did the work here, but the bridge is almost a park all by itself, with shaded dining areas, plastic lounge seats looking out of the river and even a love lock structure where you can add your padlock with your significant other's initials to leave your mark. The remodeling was completed this past summer and it looks terrific. There is a small parking lot at the south end or the much larger parking lot in the Washington Irving Park. They host tons of events, and when I'm less busy in summer, I enjoy attending the adult craft events. Last summer I even went to the children's exotic animal exhibit because I'm a kid at heart who loves animals. Staff are very kind. And I use my library card most for the Libby app and hoopla app to rent books and audiobooks electronically. There is always something going on and a great selection of books. Take your kids! And ignite a passion for reading!

No one can enjoy themselves with the Karen working, and it honestly ruins the entire experience of a library. Secondly, no where in the policy or guidelines does it state that people can't sit at the back of the library, but yet today while I was sitting there, a police officer pulled up and told me that a librarian had called the police and said I needed to move. A very Karen-like move for a certain librarian to pull off. I had to grab my things and move to the front of the library, just because a librarian woke up this morning and decided she wants to be a Karen today.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. It didn't take long at all to do what I needed. All amazing places and it's nice to see all the improvements! They have some great memorials.
