We had a nice time! We came on a Monday at 3:30pm and bowled until 5pm when the leagues came in. This was my first time bowling in a few years. Sequoia has the vintage charm we were looking for with the patterned carpets, seating, etc! I would definitely recommend this. I read some reviews about safety - this was not a concern of ours at all, it's located in an old neighborhood next to a few other businesses. I had no idea there was a bowling alley back here, but it is a pleasant surprise! This is a combination of the best parts of nostalgic bowling experiences from childhood and new tech and options. The lanes are clean and maintained, with the option of bumpers, the classic bowling shoes are available for rental, and there is a huge collection of bowling balls to borrow in every color. The scoring system is a blast - there is an option for fun animations, which not only reflected each score, but also showed some possible ways to knock down remaining pins, when applicable. There are a number of other options that we didn't even get around to exploring yet. While the grill offers the classic pizza and pop, the smells coming out of there were amazing... all day breakfast, salads, sandwiches, and more! Staff were friendly and informative. Also available on site, accessible near the entrance, are entrances to the bowling store and the outside patio area with sand volleyball and the like. I showed up Sunday at 5 with my toddler after driving 20 mins 1 way to go here. Nobody was bowling- not a single lane occupied. I asked a worker if my son and I could bowl. He looked at me like I had 3 heads. He was all: tonight is for leagues. He then flagged down another dude who may or may not have been a manager. Possible manager guy said it was "all leagues. I asked if we could bowl for just an hour and showed them the website. He said he "didn't agree with what the website said" and turned us away! We thought we'd found a new bowling spot but our additional interactions were disappointing. I purchased my first ball from the pro shop during my first visit and the pro shop was helpful in that endeavor - but getting it in my hands was a chore. The pro shop was never open early despite posted hours saying it would be. I also left a message for the pro shop manager to arrange a time for pickup. I received no returned call. On a subsequent pickup attempt, I called around 2:30 in advance to check if it was open. I also asked when leagues would start and told not until 5:00, the implication being lanes were open until then. When we got there around 3:00 we were told there was HS bowling and no lanes were available and that the pro shop manager was running a few minutes late. 45 minutes later I did get the ball but did not get to bowl. We were disappointed as we had hoped we'd found a nearby comfortable spot to bowl. I hesitated in writing this follow up but I felt I needed to respond to the business owners reply. read more

If you are looking for a laid back place to play bowling, Sequoia Pro Bowl is a place for you. Nothing fancy and really doesn't appear to be updated at all. I went with a group of friends on a Saturday around 5 pm and it really wasn't too busy at all. We were able to get a couple lanes right away. Bowling shoes and bowling balls were expected. It was $16 for two hours per person and $2 for shoe rentals which was a little more than I expected but I also haven't been bowling in a while so may be the typical rate. Out of the way, sometimes forgotten back in this Northland neighborhood off the main streets. The actual alleys are in great shape and seem well kept. The proshop is very helpful and prices are competitive, but call for hours there. The only negative is the ashtrays right outside the door. While its great to bowl smoke free, the cancer cloud at the door in the winter can cause zero visibility. Updated to reflect new scoring system went in quite a while ago. It works perfect. Also I signed my grandson up for the youth leagues at 4 years old. He is loving it and they do a great job with the kids. I almost forgot to mention the Grill! Now it may be a decent cover charge, but its well worth the price. So we like to spend the New Year doing something that our kids can enjoy too. So there is hours of bowling with a champagne toast and for the kids a grape juice toast. They offer free shoes with the event, and party goods like; whistles, hats, and beads. For the most part they offer family friendly music with touch tunes. Play the ball drop on the many TV screens for up to date time and new years cheer. The facility in general is fairly nice, the lanes could use some updating with the bumpers for children who request them with adults who aren't so good at bowling yet want to be competitive. A group of friends and I visited on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday and had a great time!! We were informed that if we waited until 11:00 we could bowl for a cheaper price for the rest of the night. It was super sweet for the attendant to tell us this since we arrived around 10:45. While we waited, some ordered food that they said was pretty good (pepperoni pizza and a huge order of nachos). The 2 guys working that night were so nice and handled our group well. They were friendly and so much fun! We were assigned to 2 lanes but kept having technical difficulties so we were moved a couple lanes down. Not a huge deal because everything else was great! There was a small lounge inside where it sounded like some karaoke was going on. We got some drinks from there that were fairly priced. The bartender was also really sweet which is amazing!!! All in all, we had a great night and didn't have to spend too much. I'd say that's a win! read more

One of my meetup groups was forming a bowling team , I signed up as a way to meet new people and have fun bowling. The bowling league was put on by better off bowling and the bowling alley is Sequoia. My first week arrived and I thought I was lost as I didn't think a bowling alley would be in the middle of the neighborhood. The owner came over to each group and introduced himself and mentioned if we need anything to let him know. They had specials on beer while the league was going on and our team ordered pizza a few times and it was good quality pizza. They have a real nice scoring system and I believe it's the most modern in Columbus. A great place to bowl! read more

Sequoia is my favorite bowling alley in Columbus. I've been to several of them, but this one is the most comfortable. I appreciate the traditional bowling alley feel of it. They have some great leagues to choose from and I've been in a league there twice. The lanes and other areas are well maintained. The place is clean and welcoming. I would not hesitate to take friends or my family here. It seems like whenever I have a question for the front desk, they are very helpful and responsive. I have the sense that they genuinely enjoy their jobs and helping customers to have a nice time. The drink prices are great and the pizza is pretty good. My only complaint is the wait staff. They're not nearly as responsive or helpful as the service desk staff. It's something I can live with. Additionally, their bar has karaoke on Thursday and Friday nights. Bonus! I've been to the karaoke nights twice - the DJ is great and it's not too busy so you can sing as much as you want. I'll be back soon! read more

This location hosts my weekly league. Every time I come in here, it's still filthy and disgusting. Just look at the bathrooms. They don't genuinely clean their restrooms and haven't for a very long time. I went in for my league and discovered they hadn't restocked their bathrooms for the upcoming league. There was not any toilet paper or soap at 1 of the 2 bathrooms. The 2nd bath is still filthy and several of the toilet paper rolls hadn't been replaced. This isn't the first time this has happened. You'd think they treat their league bowlers better. read more

Took my siblings here on 6-7-18. It was super fun. The customer service in my opinion was awesome. We used a Groupon for the bowling and shoes. Got two hours. It was plenty of time. We ordered 2 14 inch pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda. The pizza was soooo good. The people are so nice all the time - at a freaking bowling alley no less. It kind of irks/amazes me in a weird way that some of the best customer service I have received in the last year was at a bowling alley. Groupon time, again!! Yet another fabulous place I never would have found if I weren't such a cheap ass and used Groupon. First and foremost, EVERY employee here was EXTREMELY nice and more than willing to go above and beyond to answer any questions and fix any problem. My daughter rolled the ball so slow that it actually stopped in the middle of the lane (yes seriously that slow). I go up to the front desk and tell them, they laugh and immediately come down and fix the issue. My son threw the ball in-between the bumper and the gutter lane and it got stuck. No problem. Immediately came down to fix. No eye rolling when I handed them my Groupon (you'd be surprised who doesn't like to honor their own coupons). The only reason I knocked them down a star is the 1st lane they put us on (lane 19) stopped working twice. After the 2nd time they switched us right over to lane 20 (took less than 1 minute to do so). And the 2nd reason was the pizza wasn't as good as I thought it should be. Game on! Sequoia is odd, settled in the middle of a neighborhood off of 161, in what looks to not be your traditional type of bowling alley in any shape. No rounded roof, bright color schemes, or flashy neon lights. It's essentially, a hole in the wall type of bowling alley, but the weirdest part is that it's a very legit bowling alley where tournaments are taken seriously, and cash prizes are large during some of the leagues. You'll see the wannabe amateurs, and possibly even better professionals in here with their rolling bowling ball bags, specialized towels to shine and un grease their "balls" (Okay, I couldn't resist!), and specialized shoes. It can feel somewhat intimidating, but rest assured some of their leagues are essentially harmless, and for bums like myself who enjoy making opposing team's scores and averages, much more solidified for victory. They have a nice range of balls here when it comes to weight and hole size. (Get your mind out of the gutter.) Overall, it's a nice little alley, with a clean, low key bar attached, it's own personal bowling gear store, and even more recreation once the summertime hits... including outdoor volley ball, and outdoor bar. I can see why the Yuppies take this place so seriously. It's not your typical run of the mill alley that's run down and defunct, and overran with bratty kids. It's a nice place for adults to stop in and get their game on. I will comment, the bathrooms are pretty hideous, but I have yet to go to a bowling alley where I don't cringe at the bathrooms, so it's the norm apparently. I keep Capri lanes closer to my heart for the hole in the wall, no judgements held factor, but if I'm feeling deadly serious, then Sequoia Pro Bowl will do the job in sending me back to bad bowling reality. read more

I hosted a party for my staff at Sequoia and my experience was stellar from start to finish. Ryan helped me to coordinate everything and was an absolute joy to work with. He was extremely responsive and helpful in choosing our package. When we arrived, he and the staff greeted us with a smile and had us all ready to go. The bar staff was extremely pleasant and we had zero issues during bowling and our time in the game room. Worst bowling alley I've ever visited. Facilities are old and are in need of upgrading. Much of the food offered is fried, cheap quality and unhealthy. The bowling shoes they offer are old and smelly. What made the experience the worst was how a volunteer there was trying to tell me how to bowl and that I was "distracting" her mentee by going on the "wrong side" of the bowling ball return machine when no one was even playing on the left side!!! The reason why I did this was because on my right, there were several people playing who were very plump and my size 2 self could barely get through! And the volunteer needs to teach her mentee to handle "distractions." I will not be returning to this bowling alley again. Very disappointing experience! I've had much better times at the bowling alley in Polaris, with more options and better customer service! read more

This is a nice little oasis in the middle of a well-established residential neighborhood. You drive down some streets lined with family homes, turn a corner and ... there it is. A bowling alley and several sand volleyball courts. The courts are nice, well maintained. Parking is ample. The bar is reasonably priced, and offers pitchers of both low-end and high-end beers. The whole place is very low key... there's plenty of space for the players to mingle while they wait for games, although the bar can get a little crowded due to its small size. This spot is the counter to Flannagan's hugeness. It's small, approachable, manageable, and doesn't appear to be teeming with airborne STDs. read more

I live right around the corner from this place, so I had to try it. I went with my roommates. It was a pretty fun time. Its usually packed during the week and especially friday and Saturday, so we waited until late Sunday. The prices are decent but the equipment seems a bit old. We had a pizza and beer. I've only been to the VolleyPark side, but here goes: I'm playing in a volleyball league that meets here. It sort of feels like this place is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Did this used to be a school or something? Aesthetics aside, the VolleyPark is pretty much everything it needs to be. Three courts. Single restrooms. Bar, with beers by the bucket or pitcher. Nothing super awesome, nothing horrible. The courts are clean, and there's plenty of seating. Bar service leaves something to be desired... on my last visit the barkeep didn't seem to know what she was doing and had no idea how to prepare any drinks (not even "Summer Ale" out of the tap. "Can you remind me what that is, again?"). We usually just play our games and leave, nothing really to stick around for after you're done. The Northeast location is pretty easy for me to get to from downtown, just off 71 N. I've never played in a Flannigan's league, so I can't compare it to that from first-hand experience, but I'd venture to say The VolleyPark is probably more family-friendly. read more

I had a good time here attending a CYP event (Columbus young professionals). The price of the event was only $15 dollars and we bowled for three hours, it included shoes. It's a yearly event so check it out :) The appetizers on the menu were well priced I don't think I saw anything over $10. Someone ordered pizza and I got to have a few slices it was pretty good. I liked that the pepperoni was small little peps that curled up when cooked to create slightly crispy yummy filled pepperoni pockets of greasy pizza heaven. It was very cheesy. love me a cheesy pizza! We had no problems with the lanes and the score system boards were pretty neat you could chat with other lanes. They do have natty light on tap for two dollar beers and free popcorn at the bar. After we were done bowling we did a karaoke song in the bar. They also had cornhole and ping-pong at the bar. The reviews on here are correct it's a great place for a large party and I saw several besides our own. It is in a weird location but worth the trip if you have a big enough party. Because of the location I'm not sure how often I'd come here but I will keep it in mind for the future. Considering bowling is so expensive on Sawmill close to where I live. Also will keep in mind for any parties I might plan in the future. read more

I was recently disappointed with a group birthday party we had at Sequoia lanes. I had called about 5 times to try to reserve a lane, but was told to just show up and it should not be a problem. Open bowl was from 12-5pm and I had told them that we wanted to bowl from 3-5pm. On Saturday, I showed up at 2:20pm to make sure that we could have two lanes at 3pm. The person behind the counter was really mean about it and said that he isn't sure that he can make that happen. I argued that he had told me that it shouldn't be a problem and that I had ten people coming to bowl and he just said that he didn't make any promises. I asked when the large group who was currently bowling would be over and he said 3pm, but wasn't sure if he could clean up the lanes in time for us. We ended up waiting and was able to get 2 lanes by 3:15pm. (We asked for some ping pong paddles to play in the bar while we wait, but the guy snapped that he didn't have time to get them for us.) Overall, was a very upsetting experience on what was supposed to be a fun day with friends. Definitely wouldn't recommend this bowling alley to others after the way we were treated. I really like this bowling alley. I'm a casual bowler, not in a league or anything. This place is priced right and is usually not too crowded. The people who work there are generally nice and I've never really had any issues with the place. It's a little hard to find (tucked in a neighborhood off of Karl Rd), which might be why it's not as crowded as Capri or the Palace. I've only ever bowled after 9pm on Wednesdays, which is "Color Pin" night. They add 3 pins painted different colors into your rack and if the head pin or the 7 AND 10 pin are color pins, you can win $ if you get a strike. The only catch is that you have to get the desk's attention before you bowl. It sometimes takes a minute or two. Also, the deal on Wednesday is $8 for 2 hours of bowling. 2 hours is a small window of bowling. I would prefer 3 hours for sure. All in all, I enjoy my Wednesday nights here. They have Keno in the bar and so far I've won more than I've lost. I suppose it's just dumb luck, but that's my luckiest Keno establishment. read more

I was here a few weeks ago strictly for drinking and karaoke (well, mostly to heckle my friends while they did karaoke). I find it interesting how hidden this place is, but it still seemed to be quite popular. When my group first arrived, the bar was almost entirely packed. It was honestly a really entertaining evening & I think the karaoke set up here is much better than a lot of other places I've been to.
