Let me stay upfront, I have played 12-14 / 18 hole rounds annually at Clover Valley during the past…read more10 years. For myself and my golfing group of 8 golfers, Clover Valley has been a favorite course to play regularly. With that said, I had the opportunity to play Clover Valley on Sunday-March 29th for an 18 hole round. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed in the overall general conditions of the course. Having said that with the realization it is late March and spring weather conditions create some challenges in course condition. However the current course conditions and overall quality are the worse we have ever experienced and were very disappointing to the point of the agreement we would no longer include Clover Valley in our course rotation Due to the poor conditions of the course currently. Very disappointing to see this major decline in overall course conditions especially when you realize the many public course available in the Columbus area. What a shame. The greens are always very well-maintained.I enjoy golfing here when I get an opportunity to. It's not usually overcrowded, so that's always nice to get a teetime and not rush between holes.

I showed up today for a scheduled tee time at Willow Run Golf Course and was told the course was…read moreclosed due to wet conditions from the recent rain. While portions of the course were clearly wet, the rain and thunderstorms had already passed and the rest of the day was expected to be clear. We ultimately drove less than 10 minutes down the road and played another course without issue. I was not upset that Willow Run made the decision to close. Courses have to make judgment calls to protect playing conditions. What was unacceptable was how the situation was handled. When I walked into the pro shop, the first thing the employee behind the counter said to me was, "You think you would have called." When I asked why, he said I could have saved myself the gas. I explained that I had a reservation and that, if the course was closed, the course could have contacted golfers with tee times to let them know. Instead of acknowledging that, he continued insisting that I should have called before coming. I told him that starting the conversation by blaming a customer who had a reservation was unnecessary and unprofessional. I then asked whether the course was definitely closed even though the weather had passed, and he confirmed that the issue was standing water on the course. I left, but as the door was closing, I heard him make another comment under his breath while another customer was apparently dealing with the same situation. I went back inside and asked him to repeat what he had said. At that point, the interaction became completely unacceptable. He grabbed a golf club, came around the counter, called me a "chump," and said, "Let's go," in a manner I understood as challenging me to fight. The other customer actually began trying to calm him down. I asked the employee for his name, which he provided...it's "Dickey", which he is appropriately named. Again, I have no issue with a golf course closing because conditions are too wet. I do have an issue with a customer being blamed for arriving for a reservation, being spoken to disrespectfully, and most importantly, having an employee escalate a disagreement into what appeared to be a physical challenge while holding a golf club. That is not how any customer should be treated, and management should take this incident seriously.

However, since some irrigation problems were solved the course conditions have improved dramatically. Fairways & greens are in great shape. My only complaints about course conditions relate to 1) some of the bunkers are not playable, with standing water & heavy, muddy sand, though that is a huge issue at almost every public course, and 2) the failure of golfers to fix ball marks on greens. The 2d point isn't the course's fault, it's the lazy and inconsiderate golfers who seem to be everywhere these days.

Employees were extremely rude and even the golf carts looked like they were bought damaged at a flea market. We spent a decent amount while on the course to be treated like we didn't belong there by regulars and employees. We had a large group, split up into groups of 4 as asked and still was told we needed to hurry up golfing. Even though some of us were skipping holes or didn't even golf (even though we paid full price). The employee accused us of hitting over 20 shots a person... Most hit par and the ones who didn't never hit more than 8. Never coming here again, maybe it's cause we had minorities in our group we were treated so hostile. Would not recommend having your wedding or special event here. Sorry we're not pro golfers, but with the extremely low quality of the course you would think that wouldn't be a requirement here. Employee could have asked the group behind us that was taking 2 minutes per hole to play through us instead of asking us to skip holes or leave without playing the number of holes we paid for..... The Lakes blows this place out of the water don't even bother coming here

Here's a tip: Stretch before you play here…read more One of the longest and more challenging courses in central Ohio. Par 3's and 5's force you to play smart. Great views and you may have an occasional horse trot through from the paths through the woods. The first time you play it might help to go with someone who knows the layout of the course as there are no signs pointing you to the next hole. Some holes are a good walk through the woods and you won't find them without some sort of map or guide (which I have not found yet.) Luckily I played with my cousin who's been there before, but I would still be out there if I went my myself. I can't wait to take my sons out there and play again. In the Summer once things grow in, you'll have a hard time finding a disc if you throw in the woods. but the fairways are very wide, think like football field wide, except for the 7-9 which play in the woods. + This course is not as technical as others, but requires throwing good distances. One of my favorites by far. + They have concrete pads on all holes + The pro tees are very fun to play on for a great challenge. + The course isn't really crowded, but more and more people are going out to check it out and it's getting more popular. Cons: Not too many... - It's a drive for many people, but well worth it, for the minimal amount of time it will take to get there if you usually play around Columbus. - The Summer months are more challenging, due to the growth. - Prepare to do some hiking! - The parking lot is small, but usually not a problem, because not too many people go out there. - If you don't know the layout, going from hole 3 to 4 is kind on hidden and can be confusing. Just get the layout and you'll be fine.
