Though a bit of a drive, I made the trip to the Tom Carters Pro shop was because it was a Sunday afternoon and while most pro shops were closed this one was open and was advertised as having a significant stock of bowling balls and equipment.. I brought with me my current bowling ball as reference because I was thinking of purchasing a new ball. For the record, this Black Web 2.0 was drilled by one "pro shop" and at the suggestion of another bowler I got my ball checked by another "pro shop". The second pro shop made some minor changes, with the hopes of improving my game. I took it to Toms the pro shop, after picking out another ball, Tom immediately noticed the ball I brought in was off by a 1/2 inch on both finger holes. After purchasing and trying out my new ball which was 30 dollars cheaper than the shop that I was going to buy it at, but it was closed on Sunday. It made a huge difference throwing a quality ball that fits properly. I drove 90 minutes to check this place out, I left my ball to be fixed and will be back next week to pick it up. read more

It was a pleasant experience. The building smells old when you enter. You can tell it's an older building and need some repairs. The ceiling in the women's bathroom has panels missing, I nervous thinking a camera was looking at me. The staff were friendly and very professional. I thought it was odd they had a young man stand on the wall and watch us the whole two hours we bowled. He wasn't present and watching anyone else until we were given our lane assignment. You asked how did I know that..... I arrived 15 minutes early before our large party arrived. I saw the young man, he was in the back and not standing around watching the other customers. Watch on sir but it did make us feel unwelcome. After we left I came back 10 minutes later to see if he had moved to another area watching customers. He wasn't present NOWHERE to be found. Interesting! !!! The kitchen staff was kind and seem to take pride with getting my large order correct, and they did get it right. I left a pretty hefty tip. The music playing is not of the 21st century. It's more of a 1970 playlist and video. Not a bad experience but could have been better. read more

Wayne Webb ranks #2 in my favorite places to go bowling. Sequoia Pro Bowl is my favorite. But everything about Wayne Webb's is awesome, it gives you that old school bowling alleu feel. The staff is always helpful and they play good music and the food is great. My wife and I like going on Thursday nights when they have unlimited bowling and they turn the lights off and fire up the lasers! read more

Still just an ok place to go. We don't go as much as we used to for reasons I am not going to go into here. One thing is there are leagues and leagues and tournaments are frequent here. That's good and bad of course. Good in that they support the sport. Next weekend is the third time they will be hosting the PBA Players Championship. So it's nice that you can get a chance to go see the pros right her in Columbus. It's bad in that you never know when you can get a lane. Plus, for whatever reason summer leagues are always down. Like ALWAYS. I never see them promoted as much as the regular season. For some reason, Columbus Square never has a problem with this and they have 20-30 lanes FULL of teens every summer for a sport shot league but the teens and youth at Wayne's are sparse. The other thing that bothers me a bit is when I see good people leave. Sometimes it's not even for a better job. They just get tired of whatever it is. Not sure why this is. Anyway, it's still an ok place to bowl but I don't feel it's as good now as it was in the past. read more

Great place on the south end to go bowling. They have a nice game area for the kiddies, food and drinks. Prices are very reasonable and they even have couches for you to sit on while you bowl. Great music. Family owned and operated. Many high school tournaments are played here as well. Great place to come for family night or on a rainy day!! It's just as you would expect... a quarter miles worth of expertly oiled lanes, tons of pin action, and the usual line up fried food and cold beverages. This place has league bowling and I was there for a bowl-a-thon which took up about 30 lines on a weekend evening. The staff were friendly but there could've been more than two people at the bar. We were several people deep and it took 30 minutes or more to get a drink. This was a problem because the scoring screen would flash, indicating it was taking the next person a long time to start bowling and was holding up the game. A few people had kids with them and the long wait was wearing thin for the kids. I'm surprised there weren't more meltdowns because of this. They provided plastic slides for parents and kids to place the ball on so kids would have a chance at hitting some pins since they aren't going to get the same power as an adult. When we left the parking lot was super full. I'd shown up about a half hour early for the event since I knew it would take time to be a confirmed attendee through the registration process. I can see this being a problem on a league night if people don't carpool. read more

After a big publicity blitz in the Dispatch, I went down to check out the revamped Rainbow Lanes, now known as "Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl." Since they're making a big deal about the place being run by a hall of fame bowler, I was curious to see how the place would be set up. What I found was...a mixed bag. On the positive side, the lanes feature a camera that watches you bowl, and will actually replay your shot for you so you can look at your delivery. It also has a screen showing you suggestions for where to deliver to pick up spares, which is something I haven't seen at some of the other bowling centers around town. It's a pretty big place, with a good bit of space for people to come in and use it, and the open bowling prices are decent - between $4-5 a game when they aren't running specials. On the negative, there were a LOT of equipment problems - way more than I'd expect, especially for a place that just got done remodelng? Our lane's pinsetter broke down three times, and the lanes on either side of us had problems with their ball returns and pin setters as well. It was bad enough that several groups using the lanes had to be shuffled to different lanes two or three times while we were there bowling. I also noticed a bit of a hard sell for "packages" that weren't actually any savings. A friend and I bowling three games was $27. They tried to convince me to buy a "package" that would have been those games, a 1 topping pizza, and a pitcher of beer for $60. I had to insist several times that all I wanted was the bowling before the staff finally said OK. They also pushed their bar and grill quite a bit, but when we gave in and tried some hot wings, they came out really, really bland. No flavor in the sauce at all. If the lanes had matched the pedigree of their sponsor, I'd probably consider going more often, despite being a 20 minute drive. As it is, I think I'll stick to going bowling closer to home. read more

As far as bowling alleys go, this one is top notch. I've been to most around Columbus like Capri, Sequoia, and even HP Lanes. I had never ventured to the South Side until I joined a bowling league with my boss. And I just moved to Merion Village so that definitely has opened my eyes up to the area. But, I digress. We are in a league on Mondays and I gotta say, I absolutely love it. The crowd here is your run-of-the-mill bowling crowd but everyone is super nice. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and they seem to have all of the new bowling technology gadgets and gizmos. Their restaurant sells decent bowling alley food. Their pizza is cheap but pretty tasty and their drink prices are reasonable. We usually get a bucket of beer and it's around $12 for five beers. They also have a pro shop and I ended up buying a ball and shoes. The pro, Tom, knows his stuff and they fit me up and drilled the ball as I was standing there! He gave me a free game to try out the ball too. Great deal. Obviously, you're not going to go to a bowling alley for a fancy time. You shouldn't expect it. But, if you're a bowler and have not been to Wayne Webb's, you should go. Five stars man. read more

Went down to the bowling to watch friends bowling in leagues and shock by prices in snack bar!!! I put purchased a Groupon listed as a "$40 For A Bowling Package For Up To 5 People" for $15. When we walked in the older gentlemen was on the computer and nodded at us. We went up to him and I told him that we had a Groupon. He asked if we had called earlier in the week to which I said no that I just bought it a few hours ago. To which he asked again in an annoyed tone: "I asked if you called earlier this week!..." I was startled, but again I answered no I did not. He then began to ramble on on how he did not know what it was for or how to use it and made the four of us very uncomfortable as it made it seem as if we were taking advantage of the system in some way. The four of us then decided to leave and politely said it was fine and that we would just leave. He then yelled: "No! You come back here!" and took the phone from my hand to see the Groupon once again. At this point we were pretty uncomfortable and wanted to leave but he called this older women over the speaker phone and after a few minutes she came over. After both of them looking at the phone for a few minutes I told them that we would leave and get a refund and they were like "okay, bye." It was a pretty uncomfortable situation and the fact that they didn't honor a written agreement and offered excuses shows how the do business. read more

We went bowling here and it was terrible. The lanes were only ok and the service was awful. We had a problem with our lane and the only person we could talk to didn't want to help us and became angry that we had a problem. And when the pins didn't all go back properly, I accidentally hit one into the ball return because it was laying in the gutter. So we had to wait for help to come and remove it. Then instead of apologizing, the man handed us the pin and left. Not great experience. Would give it less stars if I could. read more

Had our Christmas party here and it far exceeded my expectations! Everything was set up when we arrived, plenty of room and tables, staff very friendly and helpful, pizza was great, and we didn't feel rushed out the door when our time was up. Very affordable! Nice lanes and great staff. We love the bartender here she is amazing. Cosmic is a good price, 2 hours $12 a person. The issues however are that they have a lot of leagues and they don't have much cosmic available currently due to the legues. Another thing is their pro shop seems to close early. read more

We attended the District 2 Girls and Boys tournament. I am in a wheelchair and from the minute I arrived I was treated wonderful. They found a place for me to watch. The food I got was horrible. The wings were overcooked and overpiced. I had better wings at other bowling centers that I bowl at. I didn't care much for Wayne and his wife Elaine neither one was receptive of me because their lanes gauged my bowling ball. Their proshop is a joke. Their night open bowling specials were way overpriced! The staff was ok and the lanes were terrible which kept breaking down a lot. It didn't matter how many times they moved me around still had breakdown issues. During open bowling you can't even put your name on the scoreboard they do it for you which is really stupid! I had much better treatment at the Palace, Sequoia, Holiday, and HP. Even their food at those houses were way much better than WWCB! Definitely taking my business somewhere else! read more
