Queen Anne

QACC is run by Seattle Parks & Recreation. I grew up on top of and still live on Queen Anne Hill a…read morefew blocks away. This is located 1 block west of Queen Anne Ave N on top of the hill and the building south of McClure Middle (Jr. High when I went) School and is easily mistaken as part of the school. I learned soccer at the play field, Little League Baseball, and basketball in the gym. I learned to swim next door at the QA Aquatic Center. There is an outdoor playground, 3 baseball diamonds, and playfields (soccer usually). Locals call the playfield "Big Howe" although there is a sign on QACC that says "West Queen Anne Field House." Anybody who lives on QA that hasn't used QACC didn't grow up here. Lots of activities for all ages from toddlers to seniors. They have art classes, exercise, dance, martial arts, serve meals, etc... My kid attends the Fresh Air Preschool here and the Director has a Montessori certificate. 1 teacher per eight students and it's very affordable. They have MWF or TuTh. If they had a hotel here the Village People would've made a song: "It's fun to play at the QACC!"

My whole family loves this place!…read more Toddler gym is Tues/Thurs with lots of toys, trikes, bouncy houses, etc for the littles to go nuts on. They also have a room full of toys, huge play kitchen, puzzles, tumble mats and more. Fresh Air Preschool is the best - you can choose 2 days/week, 3 days/week, or 5 days/week. Very affordable and the teacher is Montessori certified. Both of my kids attended and loved it there - she does a fantastic job with social, emotional, and cognitive learning. School age care is also fantastic. They always seem to pack in so many activities for the kids and make it all look so effortless. We were usually pulling our son away when it was time to go. The adult pottery class is a must try - huge room to work in, lots of wheels, tools, etc. Best part is you can use the room ANY TIME the community center is open while taking classes. The weight room is also open any time and offers drop in or a low monthly fee. This place is a must if you live near!

There's so much to do at the library. From story time to craft days and teen days. We shouldn't…read morediscourage teens from enjoying the library. They have a safe place to hang out instead of running around out in the streets. Maybe once in a while they grab a book and that's great for the youth. The library is organized. The librarians are very helpful and nice. There are cute activities for the kids to do daily, from reading, coloring, playing with the felt, blocks, and hiding out in the tree house nook. There is a used book store inside that I'm dying to check out but always forget because they open on Mondays. There's computers to use on site and you can print papers if needed. There is a small playground outside to take the kids too. Please get a library card, it's never too late to read and never too late to encourage the youth to do the same!

Not loving the new library. The old one was small but had a lot of good books to choose from. The…read morenew library has way too many teens/kids just hanging out. They're not reading. Literally occupying seats talking with someone else/messing around. The kids nook area for younger kids/preteens has too many computers and too many adults sitting at tables back there without young kids. Would be nice to have a real library not a hang out place for 12 to 18 yr olds. They need a much bigger selection of books. They also need way more copies. Everything is always checked out.
