Keep Your Sequim Up…read more The City of Sequim (pronounced "SKWIM" [swim with a "k"]) is a tiny 6.4 sq miles city, with a population of ±6,600, located in northwestern Washington state. Sequim is known for having a very unusual weather pattern and averages only sixteen inches of rain a year, which is similar to Los Angeles. Considering it's only a few miles from the only rainforest in North America--which averages 140"/year--this is very odd indeed. They are also known as "The Lavender Capitol of North America," as their lavender plant production is only rivaled by France itself. Like a lot of small cities in the US, they do have a small drug problem (mostly meth as cannabis is legal here) in the city, and one of the hallmarks is the loads of small petty burglary and car thefts that scatter their crime map. We stayed here for three nights at an AirBnB, and we loved it. Everyone we interacted with in the area was very friendly and welcoming, and we really loved driving through their charming downtown area. There's lots of parks, trails and even a few marinas located throughout the city and lots of places to eat, surprisingly.

The ladies at the PO in Sequim, though, while not the quickest, are by far the most friendly and competent postal workers I have come across in a long time. I was actually able to call and speak to an employee. Yes, ON THE PHONE. I did not wait 4 hours on hold (remember when businesses used to actually answer the phone?!). They were quick and amazing in advising me on a delivery issue I was having (long story short, someone was running a fake tracking number scam). The ladies I spoke with were so helpful, and so amazing that I wanted to make sure and leave them a good review. As someone with a home here, I have not had an issue with the postal delivery here AT ALL, which is friggin' amazing. Thank you, Sequim postal employees!

USPS is becoming a real joke, my mail is regularly deposited in my neighbors lock box, mailed a 1st…read moreclass envelope to Whidbey two (2] weeks ago and still is a no show. I have no gripe with the folks at the counter, they do their best working for a completely broken system. Lost packages, told mail was not being held when in fact it was/ for months! I will go out of my way NOT to use them for paying bills because they cannot deliver by due dates. Just another example of a government run organization. Very sad for the taxpayer and the USPS employees.

They have mailed me what I needed several times and I received it in the next day or two with nice little notes attached. They are polite, helpful and I am so grateful we have them. There is hardly ever a long wait if you go in, too! Wish I could skip PA for drivers license things (they are great, too, but wish I didn't have to go there), but you can't have everything. I'll be 80 in July and my husband, who waited in our car, is 85. We were just coming back from his cancer treatment in Sequim. My husband also has dementia. I had a lot of cash, as I shop for my neighbor who reimburses me with cash. The agent said I needed to pay $624 for tabs for my 2022 Hyundai hybrid. I counted out the exact amount and the young man recounted and put the money in the cash tray to his right. I was so anxious to get my husband home, it didn't occur to me that I had been robbed until I looked at my new title and I should have paid $163.00! I certainly hope someone will look into this matter before the agent robs another vulnerable client.
