This place is like a kid paradise for ladies. I had free time on my hand and decided to stroll in. There are lots of good products and variety and as well, there are lots of people whom you can go to for help. Even the guys who works here knows their stuff. This place is awesome!

Personal Beauty Advisor station just inside the mall entrance

I came by this location three weeks ago to ask about the personal beauty advisor appointments and the pushup liner that the Starbucks barista near work recommended. The person just inside the door recommended that I use the app to book a beauty advisor appointment so I did. And wow did I learn stuff I never knew I should know. A week later I was back for the free 45 (shorter) visit held in a different area of the store for more tips, tricks and advice (always good to seek a second opinion etc). What I didnt like: -if I am in person dont tell me to go online via an app (customer service?) - take a cue from Starbucks and take the time! -if you're going to tempt me with promised samples/freebies - dont make me go and order online to get them. -if I have a question about what becoming VIB means - don't make me ask four people in store (of which most had no interest in clarifying) -if i do look at ordering via the app - make it for dummies because I only ACCIDENTALLY discovered I had to select "canada" in the settings -if I take the time to write an email to customer service - ensure they READ the concern prior to replying. Both concerns I wrote about hd completely unrelated answers given. Huh? What I do like about the app: -can scan products to note them (perhaps get more info) -its glitchy and will crash a couple times but the "try products on" is pretty cool - although could definitely use a tweaking. -videos were interesting -which location has the product I'm interested in is cool. But BEST of all is being able to return product within 30 days (so not the case anywhere else)

Entrance from inside Pacific Centre

No...I'm certainly not a beauty or make up junkie, but anyone like me who is married to one sure is aware of the madness and excitement this brings to most women out there. Not to mention the financial damage that goes with it! The newly opened Sephora at the Pacific Centre Mall is no different than the stores you've seen in the States. Rows and rows of brightly lit counters and displays, with hundreds of products and brands available. The alphabetized brands of men's fragrances - my usual spot while waiting - offered most, if not all, brands you can see across the border. One will notice this location bigger than most stores, sizing at almost 7500 square feet with two entrances - one inside the lower level of the mall and the main entrance at the corner of Dunsmuir and Howe St. Best part for me here is sampling is encouraged, and a few teasers and samples are available at the counter once you pay up. On a weekend, the store was fully staffed. You could see they're prepared and able to cope with the opening weekend chaos. They are gracious and helpful when needed, though it may take a minute to look for an available one. I suspect it should be better once the initial hype has died down a bit. A welcome addition to Vancouver.

Results of my 15-minute Mini-makeover and Daytime false lashes! I asked for a smokey eye, but a more colourful version. It lasted all day.

I came to this Sephora to get the 15-minute mini-makeover that they advertise online. You have a whole bunch of options to choose from (e.g. Smokey Eye, Essential Eyeliner, Perfect Lip). It took a while to get a sales associate's attention, as it seemed pretty busy. But as soon as I did, they were able to have an employee get started on me right away. I asked if would be possible that instead of a Smokey eye, I could get more of a bright and colourful eye. I was going to an under-the-sea themed event later and figured bright and colourful would be absolutely appropriate! The sales associate was more than thrilled to help me out. She chose a plethora of amazing sea coloured eye shadows and quickly went to work. She was also more than helpful, giving me useful tips and answering all my make-up related questions along the way. The other employees would pop by and check out the make-up job. Even offering further advice. I felt like a total VIP!! I don't shop too often at Sephora, and would consider myself not too knowledgeable in the make-up department, but this was such a fun experience. I even bought some falsies! The service I received really made me feel like a valued customer. I would definitely recommend the mini-makeover and this shop to others.

SERVICE: pretty easy to book via email and communication…read morefrom booking through to leaving the spa was wonderful MASSAGE: I'm not one to demand more pressure, I've found the average pressure that rmts use to be enough. It seems that my masseuse was having a hard time massaging me and I could feel their hands quivering. I have a normal bmi and a normal pain tolerance so maybe they're over working their rmts. FACE SCRUB: they used a foreo Luna on me... why??!!! It was ok. BODY SCRUB: The scrub itself left my skin feeling rejuvenated and moisturized which isnt common for scrubs imo. Loved the body scrub. AMBIANCE: UHMMM AMAZING. You have a room that you're massaged in and an attached shower, closet, sink, toilet. Hi, i could legitimately live in here. The black and gold is a bit gaudy imo but the ambient lighting, the plush massage/facial tables were so comfortable that I could have a zen life in that room alone. POOL/HOTTUB: wonderful! It was clean and warm. HIGH TEA: Beautiful presentation. The little salads were good. Why a 3 star rating? I give 3 stars if I wouldnt return without many incentives as I wouldnt pay out of pocket for it. It was overall a nice business day.

I went here about a month ago to get my first Brazilian. Previously, I would do my own waxing but…read morethere are some areas a gal just can't get to on her own! Anyway, I booked my appointment with the founder and owner of the shop, Annik. I chose to come here based on stellar online reviews, that Miley Cyrus came here (she has to know a good waxer, right?), that appointments are offered into the evening and that they have hard wax. Also, the location is convenient for people downtown or taking skytrain. The area is really not sketchy like some others have said. Maybe if you are not used to homeless people or people loitering, but let's be real, that's everywhere these days. I was super happy with the services here. The rooms are private and clean. There is no double dipping and Annik, as well as the woman at the front desk, were very friendly and personable. Annik was a perfectionist with her waxing and made sure everything was symmetrical and all hairs were removed. She checked her work several times during the appointment, which I appreciate. She also worked quite quickly. While waxing is not going to be painless, the pain was very momentary.

I'm a hairy guy and I've had the odd girlfriend in the past raise that as an issue. It was never a…read moremake it or break it issue though but I was always a bit of a wimp when it comes to waxing. I'm terrified of doing stuff that could be painful. But, after hearing how so many do this I decided to bite the bullet in August 2019 and get my first full manzillian. I had read that if people were scared of waxing they should try say their back or upper arms but I dove right in. I read a lot online, spent hours reading about the experience of other men and women. One thing that helped me was advice online that recommended people getting waxed take a extra strength Tylenol when they get up, and another just before the procedure as it helps the system be a bit numb to the pain. But in terms of narrowing down where I was going to go, I think I visited and read reviews of several places in Vancouver that specialize in just providing waxing services, as CoalitionSkin does. And for me, what made CoalitionSkin (aka the PxssyShop) stand out was a few reviews by men and how they said that the hard wax CoalitionSkin used is easier on delicate areas like your testes, pubic bone and yes, even your face. Also, in reading the bios online, CoalitionSkin has aestheticians who have both the training and years of experience in waxing that I felt they'd be able to do a good job. Which they do. Finally, I even found and read the health inspection reports for CoalitionSkin and they've never had any major infractions - and my own experience confirms that the place has always been spotless when I've been their. Booking appointments is easy to do online, where you can select your aesthetician and times in advance. My first time in August 2019 was with Camille, who unfortunately moved on shortly thereafter but she was great at explaining things and helping to position me during the waxing. She also instructed me to breathe in just before each rip of the wax and that helped prepare me. What actually hurt more was the odd time she had to go over a spot again as not all the hair would come out during my first wax. The hot wax stung the raw skin. But not for long. The first time also took the longest. Since September 2019, I've gone to Olivia, who has been great. Each time it's been easier as the hair doesn't grow in as fast or as thick. Also in September I started getting my beard waxed. Olivia does that too. I have always had a very thick beard since I was a teenager. When I trim and shave it away, stubble grows back quick within hours and that made dating difficult as by the end of the date, kissing me would be like kissing razor blades. So waxing the beard has helped remove the hair and keep it away for a couple of weeks where the skin stays smooth. And after having it done four times now it's easier each time. My last wax only took an hour or so for both the beard and Manzillian whereas the first beard wax took a good hour and the first Manzillian over 90 minutes, maybe close to two hours. Having said this though, even though it now takes less time, nothing ever feels rushed, they take the time that's needed to do things properly. Overall I'm glad I chose CoalitionSkin. It costs a bit more, but their aestheticians are well trained, experienced and very friendly and easy going. And I don't find it that painful at all. It's partly a mindset and taking the Tylenol helps I think. The CoalitionSkin website has lots of tips to help you prepare too. And they give great advice for aftercare too, like taking it easy for 24 hours and using tea tree oil as part of your after-wax regiment. Next summer, in 2020, I might try getting my back done, and having a bit of cleanup on my upper arms and chest although I don't think I'd ever get my full chest done. I think Camille said that the men she had waxed always said the back hurt the most but we will see! Anyway I can't recommend them enough. Especially if other men are curious about this, or ladies want their men to get stuff done don't be afraid to check out CoalitionSkin!

Shifeon has a new shop! No longer a dingy little shop wedged in a crack , but a very shiny new…read moreshop! It's still on Robson, between Jervis and Bute. This is where I come for new collection nail polish. They have every possible shade of OPI available! The collections are so quick to update that I can always find the newest collections of OPI there (in stores) before anywhere else. They carry new collections in all the other brands too. Pretty much if you can't find the nail polish/product you want at your local drug store, you can almost definitely find it here! Buy more, and the price comes down per bottle. It starts off at just under $10. With each extra bottle you buy, the price comes down by a $1 per bottle! It's a pretty sweet deal for a nail polish addict - me!!! The staff... I never want to talk to them because they can be so pushy. Although I have no problem saying no, they are relentless! The trick is to tell them you already know what you want. I still browse the shop sometimes out of curiosity. The rest of the stuff are pretty pricey, so I don't buy anything from them, except nail polish!

I never knew there was a Shifeon on Robson until they moved to this bigger location. I agree that…read morethe sales in the store do follow you around but when I told them upfront "I'm just browsing" they were pretty chill with it and backed off. After looking around and I wanted some assistance, I turned around trying to catch someone, I got eye contact right away which was nice (she was standing pretty far too). I don't like pushy sales bc it turns me off and I leave the store but knowing that someone acknowledges my presence w/o feeling pressured to purchase is a gold star. I was looking for something to lighten up my break out marks and the sales, Mandy, recommended me this serum from Green Envee (1st time) and Guinot (2nd time). Both worked like a charm and I how they have lots of different products and brands! Plus a bonus Sanrio corner (my favourite)!! Whether if I make a small purchase, big purchase or even no purchase at all, they gave me lots of free samples to try out! I literally got a routine set sample for both my mom and I w/o dropping a penny down one time! What more can I ask for? Another reason why I return to this store is their buy $50 get $10 coupon (for the following quarter mths). Its a way to do business keeping ur customers but if the prices are the same for some of the brands you can find elsewhere ie. The Bay, Sephora, Murale, etc. why not get it here when u can get a $10 coupon for future purchase, gift with purchase (depending on which brands) and lots of free samples? The Bay offers 10% cosmetics and fragrances from time to time only and gift with purchases (certain times for each brands), Sephora offers points... no gift with purchase and sometimes 10-15% off Sephora days and no samples or rarely... Murale offers optimum points - that's it!
