I have an extremely flushed face, along with dryness and she pointed me to a line of foundation that would work best with my skin. She took the time to color match me, recommend products for my skin type, and have a great conversation along the way. Emily really made my experience a positive one, shopping for makeup products can be challenging for me at times but I am so glad there are employees like Emily who genuinely care for people and making them feel beautiful! I have shopped at Sephora almost exclusively since I first saw on 20 years ago in Strasburg, France. Always lovely service, but the last two times I came in (last week) it was to replace defective packaging, and I was treated like filth. I still feel I am due a refund on my Laura Mercier eye shadow. Had I not been on an overseas call on my cell, I wouldn't have allowed the clerk to railroad me. The second time - also last week, was to return (for the SECOND TIME) a defective Anastasia eye pencil. The clerk - should have got her name - all I can say was that she was brunette and chubby - was so rude - very unlike Sephora usually treats their customers - she didn't even give me a bag when she exchanged it and almost growled at me! Is this the new way customers are treated when they RETURN things? I am one of their best customers, so someone needs to speak to these rude cashiers! Hopefully Sephora sees this review! read more

Usually I'm super reluctant walking into makeup shops, especially Sephora because I always feel like I'm being judged lol. I've never been approached at Sephora before and usually have to search high & low for someone to help me, but Becca came up to me & was more than willing to answer all the questions I had. She did not once make me feel like I was asking for too much or like I was a burden to her. She made this visit feel quick, easy, & comfortable. Products selection: extraordinary. Customer service: totally hit or miss. The first woman that helped me acted very nice, but was not very helpful. I told her I wanted to try Kat Von D Lock It but required assistance color matching, as I had already ordered online and received 2 shades of the formula, but that I needed to exchange them because they were both too light. She first selected for me to try the exact two colors that I already tried then selected a color in the middle, I don't know why because I told her both of the others were too light. Within our first few minutes together, she said very quietly into her headset to another employee- I will be done in 2 minutes. When she put the new shade she selected on me, I told her I looked dead because it was too light. She suggested I do the return of the two other items first, basically so that she could get rid of me. Then she kindly got me a sample to take home of the color we tried that was too light -_- and a Kat Von d primer. She then disappeared. I stared walking around and helping myself in trying on samples of different brands that have full coverage long wear formulas. During my search, I was approached and helped by 3 different women, all of whom were very busy and still very helpful to me. This is the reason for my rating of three stars, my initial helper was not so helpful within the 3 minutes that I was wasting her time and did not see to it that I got what I needed, however the other women were a complete delight which has allowed me to give a higher rating. Also, the product selection here is astounding. I really could be in this store for 10 hours straight just sampling product after product. If I had a product expert assisting me thoroughly, I could spend $500 easily here in one day. There are just so many options and fun products to play with. A downfall was couple of the more popular shades in new brands like Fenty were out of stock, and I was told they have been for a while. Why? I will stick to online for ordering make up from Sephora, unfortunately when you trade brands this is a difficult route to find your new shade. It is great (and completely necessary) that they have a very liberal return and exchange policy, so after trial & error, some patience and lots of back and forth shipping, you will eventually figure out what works for you. Their app is amazingly helpful and user friendly. It even allows you try "try on" shades of products such as blush, lipstick, eyeshadow, etc. it is a pretty unbelievable feature because it works quite well. I can play on it for hours. I will continue getting my cosmetics at Sephora, there is no location I have found that is even similar to this in quality product selection. read more

Apparently this store is under new management because when I tried to return something the policies changed? The girl said they changed last June? So beware if you want to return anything it has to only be "lightly used" or unopened and before the 60 day deadline-the manager declined to return my items. Mind you my purchase was under the 60 day deadline and there was more than half the product still left. And I'm left with product that irritates my skin that will have to be tossed. As a guy, you immediately realize that Sephora is a store that isn't meant for you. However, if you're a metro guy, then you know that Sephora sells products that can help make you look like a heart throb. While I won't give away any secrets, I will say that their facial scrubs and applicators are top notch. Good skin doesn't come naturally. It takes hard work for my face to look like this, but you wouldn't know that...well unless you work at this Sephora. One thing that does amaze me is the fact that the associates apply makeup on customers for tips. There is no standard fee. I don't understand this. I come in here to check out the Jack Black which a grooming line for men. Jack Black is a great line to use if you like sage, eucalyptus, rosemary and so on. They have some other lines like Anthony which has been out for a while but I haven't tried it yet. This Sephora has a nice selection of cologne with some nice brands like Ralph, Versace and so on. So glad they added this stand alone Sephora location to Temecula Promenade. It's located outside the main building next to Yardhouse and other fun shopping. All the ladies (and guys!) here are TOTALLY FAB! Super helpful and they all do so well at making me feel comfortable and not pressured. I'm kind of picky about the make up I wear, but was so happy to find a couple new things here at this store. Everything is clean, organized and well lit, which is important when you're trying to find the perfect colors to compliment your skin. She was so easy to talk to and had a positive attitude. She made us some samples and let us know about the services they offer. I tried the samples and loved the way they made my skin feel. I came in on a Tuesday mid-day. It was not busy, but there were other patrons in the store. I was never greeted nor asked if I needed assistance ---which I did. I will say that this store is much cleaner and bigger than other Sephora locations I've been too. I usually go to the La Jolla location or others throughout the OC. I almost always get greeted and helped instantly there, despite those locations having heavier traffic. And no matter how bum-y I look. haha... But back to this location, I've noticed that if I look done up, I still don't get helped. haha... so kudos for consistency?? I actually asked a gal, who was already clocked out, for help. I only come to this Sephora when I shop around the mall, but I just went to it yesterday because the 10 percent sale is going on and I was looking for this contour from the brand merit. and I was with my boyfriend just showing him all the different products and I notice this lady going back and forth and I thought she was just looking for someone and so I carry on and browsing and I only had one product in my hand and I notice this lady like starting to follow us and I felt very uncomfortable and I felt like I couldn't shop like I wanted to, and so I just decided to get in line and I see that this lady, in fact, works there because she was helping a person, she seems like she was one of the managers she had a black coat with a white shirt and a silver necklace, the whole time we were in line she just kept looking at us, I hope this manger reads this but we didn't have any bad intentions and were never planning to steal because I'm pretty sure that's what she was thinking, yes were two young teens but we know better than that, so to that manger don't profile or making your customers uncomfortable by following them, but otherwise the staff there is really sweet, do better as a manager. read more

My wife has been to this Sephora at the mall many times all, of the staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable about there products. Associate Carmen is one of my wife and daughters favorite go to's people at the store. We happen to be in the store when the women complaining about Carmen taking back the bags. The lady was very rude to associate Carmen. Associate Carmen was only recovering bags need for purchases made in-store that women had taken (why would she think she could be taking a hand full of these bags). I've been to other sephora stores and whenever I asked for help, the staff are friendly and help me look for what I need. I understand it can get busy with customers but after helping your customer, you should help the customer that is waiting for your assistance. I continued browsing other make up products and decided I really liked the nail polish color and wanted the staff to check if it's in stock. I asked another lady near the front of the store and she was readily walking with me towards the nail polish section but suddenly stopped and told me she will ask another staff to help me over there. I walked over there and nobody was there to assist me. The lady who was busy with a customer was not busy anymore but apparently forgot about me. It frustrates me to see this kind of customer service, pushing customers around and not able to help when customers approach for help. You lose a customer because you forget or because you can't walk over there to see if there's more inventory left in which the customer could've bought? I'm thinking maybe sephora should reevaluate their customer service and provide better training. I love to shop at sephora and will continue to do so but maybe at JCpenny sephora because their customer service was excellent. The staff were professional and personable and they check with you occasionally if you need assistance. Every staff approached me with a great attitude and good customer service. The staff called to check if the item was still in stock in the back. She even asked another employee for assistance to get to the bottom of it. I was very satisfied with their help to get what I was looking for. That day also happened to be my birthday and the staff gave me a few samples to make my day happier (in addition to my bday present from sephora). This is top customer service! A sales associate greeted me as soon as I walked in, I told her whaa I wanted and she wisped me away like a skin fairy. Got me started on a concealer that hid what i thought was impossible and hopeless. She asked me to wipe off some of my makeup and I was close to tears from the shame of what has taken over my face. The level of service one receives depends on the day. There are times when I am at least greeted when I walk in. However, the last few stops I make, I only get brief eye contact from sales associates. They look away immediately (almost like I didn't mean to give you false hope that I wanted to talk to you), before I have a chance to ask them questions. I am more the type of shopper that likes to get in and out of a place, so I suppose I am not really their target customer... I am VIB Rouge and have been for many years. I guess I got spoiled by SAs at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus and can get irritated when I have to spend energy to hunt down SAs when they are apparently not actively working on anything and/or helping other customers. Cashiers are usually friendly at this location (probably because I am apparently making a purchase when I go up to pay), but not the last two times I go in. With that said, I do appreciate the service provided by management at this location EVERY time I go. They are always pleasant to talk to. I would love this location more if they will put more resources on training up their staff on customer service. Compared to other Sephora's that I have been to, this location definitely has room for improvement on both customer service and product selection. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm not much of a makeup person, I don't often go to stores like Sephora or Ulta unless I have something specific I need (browsing those stores makes a makeup newbie like me so overwhelmed!). But then I needed my makeup done for a formal wedding in Temecula and I knew I needed some help. I made an appointment at the Sephora at the Temecula Promenade and was so impressed with the customer service at this store! I showed up 10 minutes after my appointment time in a complete panic because my GPS showed this store's location across the street by the Men's Warehouse (word to the wise, it's near the Sephora in the JCPenny, thanks to the associates there as well for guiding me!). They were still able to accommodate me and I had the best beauty adviser to boot! Her name was Becca and she did such a fabulous job that I got complimented all night. She was very sweet and definitely took into account my preferences for my look, as well as recommending products that would fit my quick makeup routine and my skin's specific needs. This was my first visit to this location. I normally go to south coast, brea, or downtown Disney. I needed to get matched for foundation and wanted to try make up forever. Much of my negative experience is in contrast to the other locations I have visited. If this was my first experience, I would not return to sephora if I needed help finding a new product. Pros: once I asked for help I only had to wait a few minutes and was checked in on. Stephanie gave me her honest opinion and had me check the color in natural light. She tried several shades on me.She did not pressure me. The line moved fast. Cons: I was not greeted, by anyone at anytime. I saw several sale associates standing around. I finally asked one to color matched me. She said she had to find someone and it will be a few minutes. Why isn't everyone trained? Stephanie didn't ask what formula I wanted. When I asked her opinion, she said she was the wrong person to ask. What?! But she assured me this was her " holy grail" product. Honestly, I don't care. I want MY holy grail product. At other locations, sales associates often suggest other products and complementary products and try them on me. I appreciate that and usually purchase what they suggest. I know she wasn't too busy to do this because as I was leaving she was chatting with 2 other sales people. read more

I love coming to this (stand-alone) place because when I'm stressed it calms me down to look around at the skin care products and get some new samples and when I'm bored it's exciting to come in and try fun makeup looks, but the customer service isn't very good. There is one very kind girl with dark hair and tattoos that assisted me the other day and was very helpful even whilst helping someone else at the same time and she's the reason for the 4th star. Every time I come in here though, a lot of the workers are standing around and talking to each other. It's a little frustrating that I'll be walking around eyeing certain things and no one will ask if I need help, even if they've passed by me multiple times. To summarize: if you have little to no patience, just go to the one in JC Penny; they're more attentive. read more
