After I found out that Sephora stocks Korres products I headed over to the new store in Fairview, Pointe Claire. Apparently Sephora Quebec doesn't stock Korres but Ontario stores do, due to packaging regulations (i.e language, as Korres products are in Greek and English) Completely ridiculous and another reason consumers will always find a way to buy elsewhere if they don't get access to what they want. So I can shop online at SkinStore.com and only pay 5$ shipping from the USA for an entire order. Apart from that, Sephora did have a great selection of brands, not all girly, if you know what you are looking for. Staff were very helpful and love to to direct you to the $150 creams (sorry couldn't resist). I would recommend researching the brands first though, many may just be in there because they have compliant packaging rather than really being the best brands you can buy. Many were missing in the store from the Sephora website. The prices seemed inline with elsewhere i.e. Dr. Hauschka prices were the same as Olgivy's, but again, I would compare as some products may have a premium attached to the price simply because you can't readily get access to that brand elsewhere in Montreal. Ok now before you go thinking to yourself, "hey Andy, you wear make up?" No I do not...at least in public...I came here with my wife...she loves Sephora in Time Square, so when she saw this, she nearly had a seizure on the cold Montreal sidewalk. We went in and did the usual Sephora split...she goes to see things for her face, and I go and check out the colognes. She left with her usual items of mystery...things that I do not know how or where she uses them...but she was happy. Since, in my opinion, all Sephora stores are the same, I'm using my review of the downtown store as a basis for this review. Location: In the Fairview mall on the West Island. The place: It's quite large, but smaller than the downtown store. The layout makes me feel like I'm wandering through some kind of cosmetic labyrinth. That said, you can usually move around pretty easily unless the place is packed The stuff: Sephora is bloody well-stocked with most major cosmetic brands, as well as brands I've never heard of. You'll find make-up, fragrances, some body products and assorted tools to make yourself real purty. I give them bonus points for carrying one of my favorite brands - Fresh, straight out of NYC. Also, if you're looking for travel-sized fragrances, this is the place to get them. Service: The floor is usually well 'stocked' with clerks who will offer you bags for everything they want you to buy. However, unlike the downtown sore, I wasn't greeted or offered a bag. In fact, the service was non-existent. Guess it's a good thing I knew exactly what I needed and where to find it. Price: It will really depend on what you're buying. We all know that certain brands are overpriced so if you're going for Lancôme or YSL, you'll pay through the nose, however if you opt for something like the Sephora brand, you'll pay a little less. One thing is certain - you'll almost always find what you're looking for. Bonus: If you get the Sephora card, you'll accumulate points that can be redeemed for products. So, overall Sephora is a pretty decent store. You can usually find what you are looking for. the staff is helpful, sometimes a little too helpful, if you know what I mean. My pet peeve is that there are a lot of stuff on the website that the stores in QC don't carry.... like NARS nails polish, you can find one or two colors, if you're lucky. On the upside, if you want a sample, they give VERY genreous ones! I asked for Kinerase under eye cream and they gave me enough to last me a month! The girls in this store are incredibly friendly and the manager is always on the floor encouraging and helping everyone else out. I would def shop there rather than online as the customer service is great. read more
