coupons and customers! I arrived, coupon in hand, (paid $40.00) and requested what was on print; haircut, wash, blow-dry, conditioning treatment, and six foils. Although it was written on my coupon that additional charges will be incurred for hair longer than shoulder length, I thought it was absurd that she should charge me the full price for 6 foils ($36) - nickle and diming me to death, she then states that I need a toner for another $15 to $20 and that my blow dry will cost me an additional $10.00. Seriously? Yes, my hair is long, there isn't that much of it to charge me that additional $10 blow dry. I was willing to negotiate the cost of the foils but it was a no-go for her. Ultimately I ended up with 3 foils at no additional cost and I refused the toner. I did speak with the owner how these coupons are meant to draw in new clientele. It most definitely would have been a more welcoming experience if she didn't try to gouge me every which way. I am reasonable and would have been happy to pay the difference on the foils, from short to long hair. Thankfully, my very nice coiffure, Lisa, did a fine job and dried some of my hair which I was grateful for since it is 15 degrees below. I did not get a full blow dry and did the rest 'chez moi'. I would give a 0 if possible... I had purchased a deal for one year of IPL hair removal at Spa Monespace - absolute worst conscious decision I've ever made. First warning signal should have been that even though my contract was for IPL (which is more expensive and takes a little longer to administer), they made excuses that a regular diode sheer laser (which is cheaper and faster) is more beneficial for my hair type. I stated multiple times that's not what I'm paying for, but to no avail. THEN - hold for the punchline - the esthetician BURNED me. 6 months later I have large brown burn marks all over my stomach that will likely never go away. I'm still going to dermatologists and buying all kinds of creams to fade the marks. Instead of taking responsibility for what happened, she blames my skin that I had "hidden pigmentation." Oh, and as consolation for the burn, I got one extra session of laser. Yippee for me. This business claims to have all sorts of credentials and qualified staff, but I highly doubt this. They're out to make a buck. To anyone reading this, please tread with caution if dealing with this spa. read more

not recommended for massage...very unprofessional. Therapist hardly spoke to me before massage to see what my needs and concerns were, and then made unsollicited comments on my fitness level and weight during massage. I felt very uncomfortable and asked her to stop massaging me. When I confronted her, she did not apologize and made me feel like I should appreciate her unwanted advice. Same reaction from manager/receptionist. Will never go back. Going through some very stressful times in my personal life and expected this to help. It did not. Ruined my day. read more

I had very poor customer service by both an employee and management. I went to have hair removal done and after a year did not see a difference. Every 5 weeks I would mention to the employee (and receptionist multiple times) that I had not seen a change in my hair grown and she said she was not sure why. When I approached the Manager non-aggressively and diplomatically at the last treatment to tell her that I was disappointment both with with the treatment and the service provided. She was confrontational, and unapologetic. She made it clear that it was my problem because I had not spoken to the management earlier and there was nothing that she could do. I also went in once and had someone else's hair all over the end of the treatment table. I will not go back to this business again after seeing the lack of professionalism from the management. read more

Came to this salonfor haircut, blowdry and 6 highlights. I should mention that I also had a voucher for this deal. After I arrived 15 mins earlier than my appointment the receptionist told me to go and "shop around" in the nearby stores and come back later. After I showed up 15 mins later I had to wait for a FULL HOUR. The hairdresser (named Lisa) was really unprofessional, she kept pulling my hair like there is no tomorrow and kept asking me personal questions about my relationship. Seriously?! The girl doing the highlights kept asking for help from other people, she clearly didn't know what she was going. All in all a horrible experience. I wasn't particularly happy with the haircut either, the hairdresser kept saying that my hair is too dense and she kept cutting threads out so I ended up having a "hat" of hair on my head and little bits of hair extending to my shoulders. :( I wanted to try this salon because I live nearby, but clearly it's worth to drive downtown for a professional service and respectful treatment. I recently had my hair done at this salon for a wedding. I was told the hairdresser (Lindsay) had over 9 years experience. I provided her with a picture as an example of how I would like my hair to look (hair down with curls). Once she completed my hair it looked nothing like the picture. My hair looked like it had been done by someone with zero hair styling skills. At the cash the price tag for this mediocre job was $45, extremely expensive in my opinion for a something that was not an up-do. Within an hour of leaving the salon my hair had completely fallen, there was no curl or style remaining. My hair has always held curls extremely well, and this has never been an issue. It was clear that the hair dresser had barely used any product to ensure that my hair would last the entire evening. I called the salon to tell the hairdresser what had happened and that my hair was no longer styled; she told me to return. Upon my return to the salon, she was extremely rude and blamed the weather for the reason my hair had fallen and not remained styled. She told me she could do the same hair-do but that it would fall again and there was nothing else she could do. Clearly this hairdresser was not looking for a new customer based on how she was treating me. She dried my hair straight, as this seemed to be her only solution. I left the salon, after paying $45 for my hair to look the same as when I do it myself. The following week I called to speak with the owner because I felt it was important she be informed about how the hairdresser had treated me and the fact that I was charged $45 basically to have nothing done to my hair. I have still not been able to speak to the owner, she never returned my call. Clearly the owner nor the hairdresser have any interest in gaining new customers or providing customer service. I would not recommend this salon or the hairdresser (Lindsay), the customer service was terrible and I wasted my hard earned money. read more

I had long brown hair and wanted to go medium brown with blond streaks. A type of balayage. I was nervous because I felt my hair would probably go red so I made a consultation appointment with Romina. She told me that she could at first give me a medium brown with dark blond mixed in, but that lighter blond would need to come later. Reassured I made the appointment. Long (5 hour) story short, my hair was orange. She kept adding treatments to change it, finally it got a little darker but it's still a weird orange, strawberry blond. Nothing like the brown and dark blond samples she showed me during the consultation. She was in denial about the colour and kept calling it golden. She ended up charging me a fortune for all the failed treatments and toners (over $330 w/tax and tip-don't ask me why I tipped, I was in shock). When I complained the next day they told me she had actually given me a big discount!?? and that considering all the things she did to my hair (and failed miserably) I should understand the cost. Oh, and there was still grey hair at my temples, after all that. I'm shocked that this place is still in business and will get the damage repaired somewhere else once my poor hair recovers. As a side note, a friend of mine went from long brown hair to short and platinum at Aveda in the U.S., she had so much more done to her hair, it turned out beautifully AND she paid less than I did. read more
