The story as I heard it is that they turned down spots at top salons in NY and Paris to open their own place where they could hire and train easy-going people, sell ultimate frisbees, and be near family and friends. For around 50$ you can get the best looking 'do in the city in a totally chill, fun environment. These are haircuts that go seamlessly from family dinners to professional environments to rock shows. I have been here when full bridal parties are getting their updo's done and everyone looks chic, romantic, unique, but unified - it really is amazing. (Also amazing was getting my hair cut downstairs where there are only 2 salon chairs and NO bridal parties. Thank you for the blessed quiet!) I asked around a lot before coming here after my last guy moved away, and all the gals with the best hair pointed me to Queen of the World. I should add - I always get my hair cut by the owner and have never had my hair coloured here. Not a pretentious spot, always a great haircut.

But it gets better, the decor is just an extension of the awesome staff. I started going to Andrea and David F. last fall and have not regretted it for a moment since. Whether you're looking for a cut, styling or total transformation, Queen of the World is an amazing choice in a really amazing neighborhood (can you say blow dry and lunch date?).

She always comes up with suggestion on how to make me look like I have more hair then I really do and always has interesting conversation. I like this place for the simple reason that I've been coming here for five years and even with the staff changes they manage to keep the experience and fun. My go-to stylist is Liliana, who is just the nicest and most attentive hairdresser a girl could ask for! Her cuts grow out beautifully and turn out exactly the way you want them to (as in she will never take liberties without asking you first/is a freakish mind-reader). The customer service is great, the ambiance is super cool, and the cappuccinos offered are a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

Everyone was very polite and welcoming. I was pleased to have found a new salon that seemed so happy to have me there! As a little background, I haven't been able to have my hair colored in a salon for years due to how expensive it is, but I have finally reached a place in my life where I am financially ok, and able to treat myself with something like this. I was very excited. They took a $75 deposit for the appointment, which I was really looking forward to. However, the next day I was called and told my appointment was cancelled because my colorist did not feel comfortable bleaching my hair and was afraid of damaging it. I understand that everyone has their own comfort levels and boundaries, but I am not sure she is in the right line of work. All bleach damages hair - I am fully aware of this! I am an adult capable of making my own decisions. It seems strange to make an appointment for a new client and then cancel on them the next day. A little unprofessional, and pretty crushing for someone who is finally able to afford these expensive services! If you don't want your new client, say so at the consultation. I really feel like my time was wasted. They refunded the deposit at least. But I won't go back.

I was very specific about what I wanted, I painted a very vivid picture - it wasn't complicated. I expected a lot more from the stylist who claimed he had many years of experience. What I got in return was a blunt and heavy cut with no style - I asked for a trim but he ended up taking off a good two inches plus. Totally butchered it. My long-flowing locks are no more. Now I have no choice but to let it grow out for the next few months to get it back to the length I had it originally. The color was good. At least. But that's the easy part, let's be serious here.
