At the very least , the girl at register should be friendly. Breanna was beyond rude, she was confrontational. When I politely said I would rather not give my phone number for their rewards program, she pushed and told me to put a friend's, aunt, family number in. What? She then rung up my 4 items, I noticed one didn't ring up correctly, despite a sticker on it stating clearance price, when I pointed out, she argued that's not what her register says. What? Ashley did an amazing job on my full face of makeup. She was super kind and has an amazing personality. The precleanse portion felt like a full facial! She massaged my face and it was so relaxing. I wish the chairs headrests were higher and offered more support but over all it was a great experience. Will absolutely be going back the next time I'm in town for an event. read more

We stopped by on a Monday afternoon to return an item and pick up a few things for my nieces. Both times Ive visited Sephora, I've received consistent help and greetings at the door. The service has been really quality! It's always so busy in the store and the aisles are a bit tight, but it's worth the visit because of the helpful employees. Even when I made the return, one of the cashiers recommended a few other eyeliners because the one I bought didn't work out for me. I'll probably go online to purchase the eye liner because I know what works for me, but I'll definitely be back to visit this Sephora! read more

This store is your typical Sephora location, but it does get pretty busy especially around the holidays. I often go here because it's one of the closer stores to me. I recently went here to return something and the cashier who rung me up had very little patience with me and it showed. It felt like she just wanted to get me out of her line instead of making sure I was properly taken care of. It didn't feel good but at the same time I've never had an issue like this before at this location. I understand how it can be working in customer service but you also need to make sure the customer that you are working with at the moment is happy before you move on to the next person. First of all, I understand you can't place a minimum age restriction on your guests but this was insane. The least you could do is have a capacity restriction. So many unaccompanied minors made it extremely difficult to shop here. And then to top it all off, the manager had the nerve to come up to me and tell me I had to delete the photo I took of the store. My recent experience at this Sephora location was absolutely horrible. I went in because I received an email inviting me to an event being held at this store. There was supposed to be an event for Replica By the Fireplace fragrance. I rsvp'd and was very excited to learn more about the fragrance. I went into the store on Saturday for the event and to my surprise there was no Replica representative in the store. I spoke to the manager and told her about the email I received. She says no one from Replica came to the store and the event was put together by corporate so she has nothing to do with it. No apology for me wasting my time. Literally dying at these reviews because i came here to see if there are any complaints about Juan. *raise your hand If you've been personally victimized by juan* I came in this week with a newborn- totally out of my element since I haven't worn makeup in months. Was looking for a concealer and needed help matching my color. I've had a very good experience at this Sephora in prior visits, however the employee that spoke to me this past week, Juan, was extremely rude and has turned me off from giving this place my business again. He was being short in his responses, and very unhelpful when I was trying to get matched for a foundation. He was rude to the person who asked a question after me as well. I ended up leaving and going to another store, and was in and out within minutes :) Happy to give anyone who had a bad day the benefit of the doubt, but his overall attitude was extremely condescending and didn't sit right with me. One star is just too much for this location. If they are willing to hire people like Juan to help customers with anything in store. He was so incredibly rude and incredibly unprofessional. I have worked as a customer service representative before and even on my bad days I was able to overcome my personal issues and help others because no one deserves to come into an establishment looking for help and get treated as though they are obscure or unimportant. The fact that this employee was able to be so short and dismissive with his responses is mind boggling. Beware of those testers, yo. The displays here are set up differently than other Sephoras and because of that I definitely ruined my "fancy" winter jacket. There's very little space between where the sample products live and where the products for purchase are, so when you reach in to grab your new product, it's very difficult to maneuver your way to said purchase-able product without your sleeve dragging through the cream bronzers and such, as I experienced. On my past several experiences there's been no lack of effort from this location's staff. They do a great job of spacing out employees so that no matter what area of the store you're in, there's someone there to help and they're usually light on their feet in offering. read more

Jaz was helping me out today and was so helpful and informative. She knew so much about so many different products. I wanted a lip oil that wasn't too sticky and heavy and she swatched several for me and recommended the Fenty beauty one. I love it! Never would have known about it if she didn't direct me towards it. I also got the venmour dry shampoo (50% today only!), San de janerio body mist, kosas concealer and powder, supergoop! Glow screen and the IT cosmetics CC cream. Jaz even put together some samples of products we were looking at for me to try. I will definitely be back at this location in the future. The customer service was great and she definitely knows alot about her job!! Update: the kosas products suck. Concealer creased 2 seconds after applying even with setting powder. The powder I bought dropped on the ground and cracked. Shows how cheap the ingredients and packaging are. Supergoop was supposed to tint to my skin based on my PH levels, it was just putting on sunscreen with glowing serum in it. So dumb for $22. I do love the CC cream and dry shampoo. The body mist is something I've already had before it just doesn't last long on me. It also is very expensive for the product itself. I ended up returning 3 products and getting my $ back. I did appreciate Jaz helping me out but I definitely feel like I got too influenced by her and bought too much that didn't work for me. I spent $200 there. I won't be returning anytime soon I like ulta better. There was also a weird associate walking around on her phone and would talk to me like she didn't work there she didn't have a name tag but like would help me around the store. Kim and Sara were so awesome when we were stuck with a burned out curling wand right before my brothers wedding. We had flown all the from San Francisco and it was the day of the wedding. Kim did beautiful beach waves for me and did a volume lift for my mom before the big event. Sara custom selected lashes for us and applied them at no charge! This location does not bother answering their phone. I also tried leaving a voicemail, and had the machine hang up on me before I could finish. Thankfully Rouge hotline was able to answer my questions instead, and they gave me 200 points for the inconvenience. I have been a customer of the store a few times, and the only real noteworthy experience I had was when I brought my mom in for a makeover. We had just purchased several items for the holidays, and let her use the free makeover. The stylist did a great job, was very friendly, and seemed very experienced in her field. It's worth adding, this is unfortunately the only location in the state that hosts their Play subscription events. It's averaged sized for a Sephora chain, clean, and well staffed, but I have gotten better service otherwise at their downtown Chicago and Woodfield mall locations. read more

I went in last night just to look around, and everyone was very helpful. Many associates asked me if I needed help finding anything, and one woman in particular, Rema (I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong!), went the extra mile in showing me various Charlotte Tilbury products. I was pretty unfamiliar with the line, and she swatched many eyeshadows and lip products for me. She was very knowledgable about the products and made me feel included. She was super sweet and I hope she is getting the recognition she deserves! I haven't received such genuine customer service in a long time, and being employed in the cosmetics industry myself, she has inspired me to provide better customer service to my own clients. People like her are what made me want to work in cosmetics, along with the communal passion of makeup in and of itself. I plan on returning soon to pick up some of the Charlotte Tilbury products she showed me- I needed some time to think on what I really want to purchase. I hadn't planned on buying anything when I went in earlier, as I like to research products more at home. I hadn't set foot in this Sephora in over 4 years, which speaks volumes to how much I hate malls. However, I'm willing to endure my own personal Hell if I'm on the hunt for something specific. This was just such a day. We were shopping a few other stores at Oakbrook Center and my friend wanted to pop in for a minute. I love makeup, so I obliged. People helped us immediately and, before I knew it, we were whisked away to the Givenchy lipstick section. While patiently waiting for my friend to perfect her pout, it dawned on me that I should ask them if they had something similar to the discontinued MAC Shadesticks. They did! Christie was the floor girl who took me over to the Make Up For Ever area where their Aqua Matic (professional Paris... made in Germany. Dafuq?) color crayons are kept. I immediately fell head over heels for S-52 (described online as "Satiny Flesh-colored Pink," while others have regular names like Metallic Golden Taupe or Iridescent Electric Blue, so something's perhaps lost in translation) because it reminds me of my beloved Shadestick in "Shimmersand." We took our finds to the purchase line and my eyes fell upon travel size bottles of Urban Decay's setting spray. I just bought a big bottle not too long ago and it's always a drag to pack for trips, so I was tickled satiny flesh-colored pink to find these! read more

I hate to say it but when you look a certain way and you go in Sephora you most likely wont get help. I once walked out of the Orland location without anything when I had over 300 dollars worth of product in my basket because of such poor customer service. However at this store that is not the case. They have a full, very helpful staff that if always willing to find something perfect for their customers. Also Maria, an artist, is by far the best at brows and lashes. I love Sephora-- with their massive array of makeup brands, their more than generous refund policy, and the fact that they let you try on all their products (ok, I do sort of fear getting eye herpes that way, but still, it's nice that you can...) However, the Oak Brook Sephora may be the best Sephora around. 1) It's less crowded than the downtown location. 2) They have no problem doing makeovers-- once I stopped in on my way to a wedding reception and they gave me a whole new look! 3) The last time I was there I was looking for eye cream. Instead of just pointing me to the ultra-expensive brand I was looking for, the girl took the time to find out why I was buying it, and actually recommended a less expensive brand! 4) They give out great samples-- you do have to sign up for their frequent buyer program, but the samples that they have are really nice, like 3/4 the size of actual products! (ok, this is true at all Sephoras, but still great!) read more

My experience at this Sephora almost cost the company a very loyal customer. I spend $1000s with Sephora (and usually shop at this location). Yesterday, I purchased a Clairsonic from this location, only to find that it didn't have a charger in the box. So today, I went back with my receipt to try to get a charger and was informed that I would have to RETURN the product and all the bonus products that came with it and buy a new one. No, I could not just get a charger out of another box because "then they would have to use that one as a floor model". And no, I couldn't buy a new one, return it and keep the charger (rather than go home, pack the other one up and go BACK to Sephora for the THIRD time). But they would be happy to hold a new one for me at the store... Are you kidding me!? Fortunately, the people in the Water Tower location were super nice and fixed the problem in about 1 min flat. The solution? Just take a charger out of a different box and give it to me! So big shout out to the great staff at Water Tower! Thank You! And the Oakbrook Location? I will NEVER go there again. If it wasn't for the Water Tower store, I would be switching to Ulta. read more

I am conflicted on this Sephora. I love Sephora, I shop there regularly, I know the layouts of all 3 in reasonable driving distance from me. This location usually has some really helpful staff members, they are always willing to grab a sample for me, but they're not that great at recommendations. None of that bothers me, I research online and find out for myself for the most part. However. The manager here or shift leader or whatever she is, is a total jerk if you're trying to return something. She doesn't disguise how annoyed she is that you're returning something, she has actually rolled her eyes at me before. Like, really? I can't return blush without getting a snotty attitude? Give me a break. I stop in if I happen to be at Oakbrook mall but otherwise I save my Sephora trips for the Geneva location. read more

I have a serious love/hate relationship with this place. Invariably I go in with a very specific list of items that need replenishing and walk out with twice as much shit than I went in for. Of course they plan it this way: Their displays kick ass and their encouragement to try all the products from dozens of lines at your leisure, without the annoyance of a snotty, pushy counter-lady in your face, like in department stores (remember that scene where Jeanine Garafalo goes to the cosmetic counter in "The Truth About Cats and Dogs"?), make it REALLY easy to nickel-and-dime yourself to the poor house. I especially like this location. EVERY time I've gone in here the salespeople have been really helpful and friendly. I also seem to walk out of this location with a TON of free samples...unlike at the Northbridge location where you have to ASK for them and when you do you're treated like a complete loser. read more

I haven't been to OBC in quite some time and I popped in with a friend because she needed a product. I walk in and browsing around the makeup section and I wasn't even there 2 minutes and I tried a color on my hand. I always smell makeup and for a brief second I pulled down my mask to smell and one of the employees was just abruptly rude and said testers are for display only and you have to put your mask back on. #1 I just pulled down my mask to smell the product so I was intending to put it back up. #2 there were NOT any signs that say testers are for display only. It pissed me off because I am a pretty loyal makeup consumer. This boy made me so angry and I heard him say under his breath "just doing my job". Well there is a way you do your job and it's not making a customer feel like crap. Approach somebody nicely like most other stores out there. I'm not an idiot, I know we are a mask wearing society right now. Nobody was in the aisle with me, hell there wasn't anyone in the next aisles either. I will never go back there and the fact that this boy was "doing his job" was a joke. There was no appreciation of customers on his part and lack of customer service too.
