I was pleased with the outcome besides the fact that they got confused about what time my appointment was (it did not turn out to be a big deal thankfully, but I still don't know how it happened. Hands down my favorite Sephora. I went to school in the area so I was glad there was a Sephora about 15 minutes away. The associates here are sooooo kind and helpful. I always have a million questions and I can be indecisive at times but they were always very patient with me. They are also very knowledgeable and honest. There is an associate who works in the skin care section, I can't recall her name but I always saw her when I came in. She is also very knowledgeable and patient. She really listened to mine and my friend's skin concerns and she never pushed us to buy products. I got my makeup done here for my pinning ceremony (shout out to Frances). Frances and another girl helped me and they were incredibly funny, friendly, and they taught me some things about skin care products and makeup application techniques. Frances did an amazing job on my makeup and I received a lot of compliments! :) I'm terrible at applying falsies and unfortunately she wasn't able to apply the lashes I brought from home because of sanitary reasons which was totally understandable. This Sephora has the friendliest and kind staff. If I had a question it would be answered and they would walk me to the product and demonstrate it. Smashbox, Nars and Bare Escentuals are my favorites. I rather come to Sephora to purchase Bare Escentual because the boutique workers are often snobby and busy gossiping with their co-workers. The best kept secret is the Nars body cream. If you want a warm glow year WITHOUT using fake tan sprays or tan lotions then NARS is the product. It gives you the J-Lo glow, it brings out the color of you skin without the fake sprays or tans. Perfect for Halloween since most you ladies are showing a lot of skin. My mother-in-law told me about a curling iron that she thought I might like. My sister-in-law had used it and loved it. I have very fine, straight hair that doesn't hold a curl well, unless there's a ton of spray in it, which means it becomes inflexible and is harder to style or switch styles after it's been curled. She suggested I go to Sephora and buy the Sulta Bombshell and she'd pay for it. I don't often shop in here and didn't come to browse other products so it was nice to find a store without pushy saleswomen working. The employees were helpful and friendly and I easily found the iron. Actually, I believe it's called a wand since it's the type that doesn't open and close over your hair - it's just a bar that heats and you use a glove to curl your hair around it. The item total came to $141.05 with tax - and I probably wouldn't have spent that much on myself if she hadn't generously offered it as a gift. It absolutely works great. My hair holds nice curls without a lot of hairspray, and I'm getting used to using it so it every time I do I am able to curl my hair faster than the time before. Always with good results. The employees said this curler is better for your hair than a regular iron, and even though I don't understand how it is, I liked that they took the time to tell me about it. read more

This is my neighborhood Sephora so I come here pretty often. It's ok but the customer service is not that great. I've walked around needing help for long periods of time while the sale ladies helped out other people who were wearing more make up and looked like they had more $$$. They basically ignored me. A couple of times I did get help but had to wait a few minutes for someone to come from another area of the store to help me. I'd say it's not a good idea to treat people differently just because they may buy more products from you than someone else. But, that's life, we judge books by their covers. I walked in and got greeted at the door. That was just about the only positive thing about my shopping experience here. After that, I was left to fend for myself. There were way more associates than there were customers so I naively expected a little bit of help. That did not happen. They all seemed to be "busy" talking amongst one another because no one seemed to care if I needed any help. After picking out all the products myself I stood near the unattended registers for what felt like forever. Finally an associate shows up and who does she help first? Another customer who just walked up to the register. I spent a good chunk of change there that day, but that experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Yesterday I dropped by here to try out color iq. I already own few foundations but I was willing to buy a new one if I was convinced. My sister (never owned a foundation before) was there too to try out and buy. The makeup artist came but she wasn't friendly. Didn't explain much to us about our skin shades or the products other than "this might be good." She tried on a couple of foundations on me but I wasn't so sure. Didn't buy. My sister, on the other hand, bought. Later I found the makeup artist mockingly talking loud to another employee about how I was eager to buy but didn't and the girl (my sister) who wasn't so interested ended up buying. She stopped talking because I passed her. What she doesn't know is that I didn't buy because I wasn't happy with her unfriendliness during the whole process and her being not resourceful to customers. There weren't palettes left on the shelf so I asked a girl who worked there who walked off without saying anything and came back saying they were sold out. THIS SEPHORA CALLED THE COPS ON ME FOR SIMPLY SHOPPING IN THEIR STORE FOR 3 HOURS!!! (that's what the cops told my hubby and I). I'M BOYCOTTING and so should you. Read on to see why: THE (short version) STORY: I the was there with my husband and baby while my 6 year old was in day care, and it was his Mother's Day present to me to not have to be RUSHED, and pick out pretty much what ever wanted, b/c with kids you are ALWAYS rushed. I DID notice I was being tailed by the staff, but I swear, I wasn't rude about it AT ALL, I felt like I had my own shopping assistant, I asked lots of questions had some conversations NOBODY in the store complained about ANYTHING to me- NOTHING! And out of the blue, excuse the pun, here come the cops pulling us outside, totally making a scene. Thank GAWD my husband was there b/c to add insult to injury, one of the f'n cops proceeds to explain to me that "NORMAL PEOPLE DON'T SPEND 3 HOURS IN A STORE AND THEY FOUND IT ODD," ahem?! I demanded that one of the cops play back the recorder he had on his suit to prove he said something totally offensive that he turned RIGHT AROUND and denied he said, and HE REFUSED!!! UNBEEEEELiEEEEABLE! Cop Watch anyone? BACK TO SEPHORA: So, maybe between the stuff I had to exchange, and myself like a kid in a candy store, I completely lost track of time. Being able to lose track of time like that was all in the nature of the gift from my husband. I always liked cops but I am INCREDULOUS at the discrimination, and that IS what it is called b/c we drive an old car, we weren't pushing a Bugaboo, and my husband is VERY blue collar. Then there is me... well I'm an overweight mother of two with like 5 inches of grown out bleached hair with half one kind of makeup on one side of my face and a different on the other. So, is illegal in anyway for a mother of two to let herself go a bit? Or even A LOT? And here I am trying to feel prettier, my husband is trying to lavish me in nice things and make me feel better about the extra weight I gained with my second baby, WOW, just....WOW. As a little side note, I had JUST figured out that I was gunna buy and I was JUST about to pay and leave when these cops showed up. So needless to say, the cops finish talking to us, we offer to dump everything out, they say, "no, no that's not necessary," then after they are done saying all kinds of weird offensive stuff they proclaim, "you are welcome to go back in and continue shopping," I'm like "OK,"and I go in and i DUMP OUT every thing onto their counter that it took me those THREE HOURS to pick out, uuurrg. Then I asked for the store managers name, one of my tails gives me a card. I call the # on the card right when we hit the freeway and I get the same bitch who gave me the card, and I ask when this store manager will be in, get a load of this: she says: "We aren't allowed to give out that information." So I went online and got the corporate #, made a complaint and they said they would get back to me soon, its been 2 days, no word yet from the store manager and no word from HQ. Ho-Hum. I think this is what people refer to as THE RUN AROUND, no? Let me put this in perspective; My husband is mellow and calm and doesn't challenge cops or anyone, really, whereas I'm the polar opposite. I'll take something head-on if I don't feel it's just or right, but I've rarely ever had a REASON to challenge a cop!!! Surprisingly, it was actually my husband who called SEPHORA HQ and made the complaint b/c this was his gift to me and they f'd it all up and he's PISSED about it! But I just got to give a shout out to the wonderful people at the Santa Rosa store who've seen me in there for 3 hours and more, days upon days in a row, (back when I was first discovering makeup), they all know me there. Let me paint the picture for you yelpers: My sister works as a nurse at convalescent close to this sephora so she usually comes to this store after work is over but I, on the other hand, had never been before since I always went to fairfield, WC, or SF. So tonight I begged my sister to come here instead of going to The one in WC. Though she immediately forewarned me that the S.A.s here are all rude and are usually not very helpful, I didn't care too much about it since i knew i wasnt going to need help with anything at all! We were there for one reason, which was to take advantage of the VIB sale and so we just wanted to go and buy whatever cool stuff we could find. I came with just my wallet and phone, which I placed inside a Mac bag that also contained 2 items that I wanted to exchange for other things. My go back items consisted of a Mac MSF from nordstrom with it's receipt and an origins eye cream from a different sephora without a receipt (Mind you i didnt try hard looking for my receipt at home since I just bought the cream on 10/24/12 and because i know sephora usually has great exchange policy that if they needed to look it up, they could easily access my account and see when I purchased it). Because i was taking forever to decide on which items to purchase, my sister wanted to quickly run to a store next door! She then placed a few brushes in my shopping basket next to my Mac bag, which I placed inside the basket as well! As my sister was leaving the store, the security guards stopped her in front of many other costumers only to tell her that they actually "saw" her steal a few items which she stashed in her scarf (I had no idea what's going on at this moment). Then they rudely demanded she take off her scarf, which she did! Afterwards, they went on and on about how they seriously have proof that she was stealing and so they kept on asking her where she stashed the stolen items! My sister was then already upset at this point because they just kept insisting she stole stuff even after they couldnt find anything on her. So later on, she demanded to talk to a manager because she didn't like how they treated her. As I walked towards the front of the store, I saw the manager sounding all rude, speaking in a loud voice and giving my sister attitude. I immediately found out that she was being accused of stealing and that she supposedly "placed" the items in her scarf or she gave them to me. So then I opened up my Mac bag to show this one tall, blonde manager that we didn't steal anything! and as this manager saw my origins cream, she then turned around and told me that they ALSO saw me in the cam go to the origins section and actually steal the damn cream! I was like "let's pull out the footage, show me where I got near the origins section because I never even went there". I was actually trying to get rid off it so why would I go to that section again, let alone steal another one. I also asked for them to pull up my account so that they could resolve the issue and see that I actually just purchased the cream recently. The manger kept on saying she didn't want to do that and so I don't understand what she wanted from us. I clearly didn't steal it so there's no way ill admit to it. Then, another S.A. tried to diffuse the situation by helping us check out. So as the new girl scanned the cream, she saw how it was purchased from WC and then afterwards, we saw/heard her talk on her earpiece to tell the manager that it was indeed paid for! After all that craziness, no apology...no nothing! We understand that people make mistakes and we're actually not even upset that they questioned us because it was their job to Check if they think we really stole something! My issue is the way they went about the situation! The fact that they were rude to us and when we demanded that they show us proof, there was no resolution! They didn't want to show us anything so how were we to fix the problem! They were clearly stuck up and rude, and perhaps racist? I hate to say this but seriously, why falsely accuse us without a solid proof that we stole something?? Was it because we were the only brown people there? Also no apologies were given to us afterwards! Moral of the story: this sephora is not the place to go! The S.A.s here are all tactless and they lack costumer service! Please don't waste your time coming here as we will never ever set foot to this store ever again! Too bad because they wont make any commission off us and we're actually makeup junkies. I shop at Sephora on occasion and very pleased with the treatment and service in Novato. Friday afternoon, fairly busy, and did notice the extra holiday help. Five differently sales associates asked if I needed assistance which is awesome! Although the palette I wanted was out of stock, she should have at least showed the others that were similar and available. I didn't feel rushed, no pressure to buy, and really enjoyed my shopping experience at Sephora. I stopped in today from Santa Rosa. I had recently ordered a palette online from Sephora and loved it. It unfortunately was burned in my home in the Santa Rosa fires. Neither Sephora in Santa Rosa carried the new Huda Beauty palette. When I asked an employee if they had it she said they only had the sample/tester. Another employee mentioned that there may be a few in the back. She went back to check and came back with a palette for me. I appreciated her going the extra mile and being so kind. I will definitely return here instead of going to the local Sephora in Santa Rosa. They also have a lot of make up I usually can only get from offline. i am in LOVE with their benefit eye kits. i got my friend/sister the "smokey eye kit" and the "V-eye kit". they are perfect. if anyone hates thinking about getting ready or doing their makeup.. these kits are PERFECT. the brush selection is pretty great too. i am hooked, again, on the bourjois paris line. great mascara. great liner. and great cheek shimmer. not-so-much with the eye shadow.. i would stick with the bare escentuals. make sure to get the eye primer. the eye shadow doesn't stick well, or stay long with out it. don't forget about organic line, juice beauty! i can't mention them enough. read more

I had a bomb experience with Thayer! He was so awesoms!! Definitely WILL help you out step by step! I came in because ive bin using Neutrogena Night and Morning face exfoliater and left my skin so dried after a 2 and a half months. We did this cool thing on their computer ive never seen before and took my expectations so much more higher. Lots of amazing options step by step on what goins on your face from step 1, cleaning/tone 2. 3. too step 4 protect SPF! Amazing!!! I learned so mucn about why my faces patches up and dries and does certain things. He Helped me sign up for a beauty card and gave me a Happy Birthday Caudalie for birthday present. Said this is a really amazing moisturizer and explained why, whats it maid of and how it works. Perfect on spot. Without me asking and it was so quick. Every time I go in there I'm followed like I'm going to steal something. I notice they do this with most girls my age, 20, and it's really insulting. Especially when I was wearing shorts, a tee shirt, and was holding a wallet. Where would I even put a stolen item? Anyways. I went in there the other day and told the greeting woman I was looking to get matched for foundation and she said it would be a few minutes.. well that few minutes turned into a half hour. And the whole time nobody approached me. When someone finally did she was very helpful, except she grabbed the wrong shade and acted like I was stupid for saying it didn't match my face. A ten minute shopping trip turned into an hour long shithole experience but I NEEDED the makeup and couldn't leave. I'd go to an Ulta or a stand in the mall instead. read more

I love Sephora's. Great location with accessible parking. The store is always vibrant and so clean. I love the variety of brands they carry in-store. The staff are always friendly and eager to help. They are very good about accepting returns, even without receipts. The last time I was there, this girl Nadia stopped what she was doing (cleaning or restocking or something) and went out of her way to help me find the products that were best for me/my skin/my color/etc. She spent upwards of 20 minutes helping me review the different products/options. I come here a lot, probably too much. I wish I could give them a better rating. My biggest problem is that the customer service isn't consistently good. I'm always greeted which is nice, but sometimes the ladies in there are nice and so helpful and just awesome. However on other days they seem like they don't want to be bothered and I feel rushed to decide, buy and leave. The last time I went was in the evening and that was when I got the best service ever! So I have been back to the store a few more times since the last review (I am kind of a makeup junkie lately). I have to say that, even though it still does not compare to other Sephoras in terms of availability of customer service, things have been improving. As in, the last few salespeople who helped me find a product did not disappear after handing me what they think will work. They applied it and made sure that it worked out for me. I used to laugh at the notion of pets that were extremely treat motivated. The simple shake of a bag o'treats or the basic usage of the word "walk" would provoke a dog into an uncontrollable excited frenzy that I could never comprehend. I'd think to myself, these animals are way too gullible. Don't they see that they are allowing their self to be enslaved by something so trivial? It wasn't until I realized that I too am a creature that is strictly driven by "treats." The simple words "free gift" would induce that same aforementioned uncontrollable excitement pets would manifest at the sight of a treat. Now these motives that I once had were strictly driven by the past cosmetic brand I used to invest a majority of my time and money into. Their clever recycling tactic of bringing in six used containers to redeem a free eyeshadow or lipstick induced this similar treat motivated mindset that made it hard for me to realize that there were other cosmetic brands that provide far better products of quality than what I was investing my money into for the last nine years. But I didn't realize that such a company existed until a few weeks ago. After waiting for one of my buddies to finish their grocery shopping at Costco, I found myself venturing off to the Sephora a couple stores down. I had recently ran out of my usual foundation and was looking into trying something new. I had been using the same foundation since 2009 and although I've built a long term relationship with that certain product, I never found satisfaction from the finishing touch of my foundation. By the end of the day I would always find my foundation to be runny, my face looking extremely oily and shiny, and my skin tone to be far from ever matching the exaggerated yellow liquid that incongruously lined my face. Despite the many times I tried to find a different color to match my true tone at that previous cosmetic company, I would always be given the same color option. There was never an in between color that would compliment my true skin tone. However, at Sephora, they have a sensational tech savvy device (Color IQ) that allows the MUAs to get a precise match of one's true skin tone. This isn't simply done by testing out several hues of foundation on one's face until the closest color is achieved. No. This device acquires one's true skin tone by taking three different up close photos of one's actual skin color from different facial regions (and including your neck if requested), averaging out all colors that were collected, and then generating a custom ID for your specific skin tone that will pull up every single color in the store database to accurately match your ID with products that strictly fit that specific color category. If that isn't some high-tech ingenuity, then please let me know what else is out there so I can stop living under this rock, otherwise Sephora's Color IQ is spot on when it comes to figuring out the truth to your skin tone. Unfortunately, as much as I want to brag and boast about the MUA who was sweet enough to help me, I cannot remember her name for the life of me. However, she was the sweetest! (Likewise with the rest of the ladies that greeted me at the store and were very attentive once entering. There was never a moment of neglect.) The MUA who specifically helped me with my Color IQ was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different products that were recommended for my skin tone and what products would best compliment my skin type. She also helped apply the BECCA Ever-Matte Shine Proof foundation onto my skin and showed me different techniques to get a softer and more natural finish. And lastly, she gave me a sample of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, which indeed is so lightweight on your skin and doesn't give you that heavy, runny, foundation finish that I seemed to constantly get from the other cosmetic brand I used to use. ...although I might have switched over to Sephora... it seems that they too have a rewards program that once again stimulates my inner treat motivated pet mindset and not to mention, their products are just a tad bit more expensive than what I used to invest money into, however the quality of their cosmetics do make every penny spent worthwhile. read more

They made me a perfume sample in its own little spray bottle to take a scent home and try it! Despite the high prices they are never snooty or pretentious. I love Sephora and this location is great because it isn't overrun by tourists, nor messy and pretentious like the shop in Union Square. I feel like the staff in Novato are really trying to help and not one up their co-workers. Super helpful! The ONLY complaint I have (and it is so small) is that they shouldn't keep the doors propped open while the AC is on. If it's an air-handling situation with the entire mall, they really should get on their leaseholders about fixing it. read more

This Sephora is by far one of the best I've been too ever. Always has what I'm looking for and good customer service. Stopped by tonight to get matched for a foundation and Christina assisted me. She gave me great advice and was very friendly. She even went the extra mile by applying it on my entire face for me and even added some blush and bronzer making my skin look flawless. This location is definitely worth the 40 minute drive from Fairfield. Highly recommend! read more
