The folks that work here can be hit or miss but Most are friendly and helpful! They do try to help you with what you need. They could use more staff though. Sometimes the waits are too long. Side note; if someone uses a SEPHORA gift card to buy something and returns it and you give them a replacement gift card, you might mention that it's only good at Sephora inside of JCP!!!! read more

This is the first Sephora I have ever been into and let Me tell you the customer service in here is amazing! All the associates are all very sweet. As soon as they see you they alway come up and ask if you need anything. They always help find what you need and if they don't have it they are quick to find something similar or offer to call other stores. I have always been treated very well when shopping here and have grown somewhat of a relationship with the girls that work in there. Jennifer is the manager and she is always so sweet. She greets me and my friend every time we go in and she never makes you feel like you need to rush when talking with her or asking her questions about products. This is the type of customer service I appreciate and would gladly shop here rather than ulta any day!!! read more

I went here with my sister to get her makeup done as a birthday present. My sister and I never wear makeup so the makeup artist was very helpful in bringing her subtle but special look to life. The other artists in there were outgoing and made the process entertaining while I waited. In the end my sister looked beautiful as ever and her smile was well worth the money. This is my second visit here. I came to return the anastasia dipbrow and purchased the brow mousse. I was browsing on my own and Alma came around and asked if I needed help. I got the brow mousse I wanted and she even answered my questions about the different shades. She was very professional and helped me every step of the way. Been here multiple times, but the last experience was the best. Usually I wait for a girl to approach me to ask for help, but since no one did that (and that's fine, we should learn how to not be shy when you want something!) I asked this one woman. It was clearly busy in the store, but she did not seemed to be phased at all and treated me as though I was the only customer in the store. I came on 3/22 to purchase quiet a bit a makeup. Laura did a full face match for me and told me how it works online. So she pulled foundations and concealers for me to play with while she helped other guests... that's what customer service is all about. Being comfortable with your guests & helping more then one guest at a time! I know every girl has questions about makeup so I didn't fuss when I waited for her return to talk about my tested products. She was very up to date with the makeup trends and great advice when we were comparing my liquids trying to find what I like. Good job again Laura, thanks for great quick service. read more

Excuse my language, but unfortunately Laura was such a rude bitch. It was the worst experience we've ever had at Sephora. My friend is pregnant and unfortunately she's starting to break out, my friend said that she didn't like a certain NARS product, and Laura said "maybe you should exfoliate your face, it's not the products fault, it's yours". I'm sorry Laura, are you the brand ambassador for NARS?? No, you work at a Sephora in jc penny's, and your makeup technique was atrocious to say the least. Against our better judgment, we went to Laura instead of going to a trained professional. Sephora, please train your employees to be respectful, and educated on products. On top of all of this, the manager had no sympathy for my friend. Clearly, there's no standard for the sales representative at Sephora. I always thought Sephora was better than ulta but in terms of respect, ulta definitely takes the cake. Shame on you Sephora, we don't be back. read more

The manager at this location is an old lady! She is a fucking bitch! Treats everyone with disrespect !! I came in there with my girlfriend to try on lipsticks and no one told me I had to use the little tester sticks so she ran up out of nowhere yelling at me telling me that she had to throw away the whole tube now that I used it! Made me feel like complete trash the entire time I was in the store talking shit on us with her workers the whole time we were in there so loud everyone could hear her! Went to Sephora today for the first time since September! Figured it was time for another sephorahaul I went with a 200$ budget Knowing i needed quite a few pricey things. Several girls at the Manteca Sephora in jcpennies were rude af. & i've never had any problems with Sephora employees before Like i asked one girl where one product was (knew it by exact name) & she acted like she had no idea what i was talking about & like i was bothering her. She was putting make up on some random customer, But the funny thing was that girl didn't BUY anything. It really seems like most of the girls there just want to put make up on people & don't care to help other paying customers. Like you sell make up, you're not a fucking make up artist. Get the fuck over yourself & help me find what i'm looking for... I ended up having to find everything myself & only spending 140$ because i couldn't find all the stuff i went there wanting to buy & the two girls i asked for help were both super rude so i wasn't gonna continue trying to ask. Just makes your store look really shitty, I felt really judged & looked up & down by several employees Because i went there in my relaxed clothes with no make up on i'm not worthy of your help? Too bad i probably spent more than anyone else in that store you were trying to put make up on & i would've spent a lot more & gave you a good review if you would have just had a little class & helped me find the products i looked up on your website & drove 20 minutes to go find. On another note, the women behind the register were sweet as pie & actually helped me find something i couldn't find while i was on the floor. But they have both been working there for quite some time! Ditch the new girls & hire people that want to be there, & aren't looking for something to put on their "makeup experience portfolio" because they lack costumer service immensely! read more

I have very sensitive skin and recently had a reaction to a product that was supposed to be safe for all types of skin. I asked an associate at this store about it and she answered all my questions plus she not only showed me several products in the store to try but several to stay away from because of their ingredients. I came here on a Saturday and they were busy. I needed a foundation match and I had to wait about 10 minutes. By the time someone got around to helping me, there were only 2 employees in the store so the girl helping me quickly swatched 2 colors on my face and went to help other customers check out. I was still a little confused with what color to get so Maria came over and helped me make my final decision. She even let me borrow a mirror and go outside to see which color could look better outside which I really appreciated. I think this store is good if you're picking up something quickly but if want to be matched for foundation colors or want some advice I would go another location with more employees. read more

I stopped into Sephora on 11/19/17 . It was right before closing but I already knew what i needed and only asked for assistance in finding the right shade for me. A young lady who seemed very nice, told me she would help me out with that. She just needed to finish another task real quick and then would be back to help. A few minutes later, she takes me over to the makeup chair, tells me to have a seat, she would go get the makeup I wanted to test the shade on my skin. I sat in that makeup chair and patiently waited for several minutes. The lights in the store started to turn off because it was closing time. Another few minutes pass and the young lady still has not returned. I happened to look over at the cash register and I see her just standing there laughing with another associate. It seems I had been forgotten by an employee who initially was happy to help. just as I was about to get up and walk out, a very nice girl who I think was named Nasima, asked if I was being helped and I explained to her that I was seated at the makeup counter by another associate but was forgotten. Nasima was very apologetic and so very sweet, she helped me find the right shade of foundation, which took all of about 1 minute of her time. Was wanting to try some liquid foundation for the first time. Went into Sephora and was helped almost immediately. The ladies there helped me with a color match and helped me choose a foundation. They were so patient with me and showed me how to apply the makeup correctly. I'm so happy with what I purchased and super thankful for the help I was given. read more

So I suggest you change your attitude and wipe the bitterness off your faces. I try to avoid this location as much as possible due to their customer service. Small selection, as with all Sephora stores inside JC Pennys. I was in here for 20 minutes and the 3 employess in there were all chatting and laughing. If there was ever a store that could make me never step foot in a Sephora ever again it would be the one inside JcPennys in Manteca. First off...instantly I felt judged...and it was clear no one really wanted to help me. I was dressed nice and was with my hubby and 2 kids...so I'm not sure why I was judged from the get go. Four stars due to the limited selection and not having what I was initially looking for in stock. I came to this Sephora after a bad experience at Ulta. I was interested in getting the Urban Decay concealer. The salesperson greeted me, when I asked if they had anymore in the color I wanted, she looked. When she said they were out, she showed me the Sephora brand of concealer and briefly talked about the benefits of it. She was not pushy or overstayed her welcome to make me feel pressured. It was simple and helpful. I completed a review on the jcpenny's survey. The concealer works great so far. read more

Disappointment as well. Arrived when Sephora opened in the morning. Asked for some suggestions on new makeup and lady told me to come back around 2-230pm. Told the lady I didnt think you take appointments and she said we dont, but today she was. She went on to say how busy she was and others called in sick. By the time she finished telling me all of this she could have suggested a few items for me to try. This is the first Sephora I've ever been to it totally changed my life lol I used to just shop at Mac until my friend invited me here. All the girls are nice very informative about current and future products. Jennifer the manager is the only one I know by name she always ends up finding me my holy Grail products like my tarte creaseless concealer. I would def recommend this location as a one stop shop for beauty needs not only do they have cosmetics they sell skincare and frangrance as well :) oh and one of the girls told me their getting Marc Jacobs cosmetics line next week so keep an eye out their coconut primer is amazing!! read more

I've been to this Sephora MANY times and find myself constantly making up excuses as to why their service hasn't been the best, but after today I don't want to step foot in this store again. I went in to get color matched to a concealer I've been dying to try (I'm a makeup collector and want to try everything that's new). I came in with no makeup on and the girl I finally got to help me proceeded to tell me that I didn't really want to try that concealer because I'd have to put powder over it. I always use powder to set my concealer so this isn't a problem for me but she made me try other concealers anyway. When she finally put concealer on my face, she put enough on for two whole faces and I had to use a tissue to remove the excess. I then asked her to match a concealer to the rest of my face (not just for under my eyes) and she told me that concealer ONLY goes under your eyes and refused to match a concealer to the rest of my face. I consider myself to be well versed in the art of putting on makeup. It is one of my favorite hobbies. I use concealer to spot conceal because I prefer not to use foundation and for someone to tell me that I'm putting makeup on my face the wrong way is very offensive. I don't think there is a right and wrong way to use makeup and as a customer, I feel that a makeup professional working in a store like Sephora should support what their customer wants to do with their own face. read more

I like many other woman that go there, was there to spend some money.. I needed quite a few things and drove appox. 20 mins to this Sephora. I usually go to ulta ( which I love ) but decided to try going somewhere new this time.. anyways.. I walked in and a lady was putting makeup on another young lady and she i asked if i needed help ( as if I shouldn't have been in this store ) i politely told her to go ahead and finish with the lady she was with.. i would just look around until She was finished. I had plenty of time to shop and needed a lot of help had a lot of questions cause i was buying a lot of stuff. so I'd rather her be able to give me her full attention. Right? well i hear her tell the lady she was with " Ugh. Go ahead and play around with this ill be back in just a moment" So she then approached me and asked again if she could help me. I had questions about the glamglow masks and she answered them as short as possible. it wasn't genuine. she was rude ! i then asked if she would be able to help me find a foundation and some other things and told her i could wait until you finished up with your quest and she told me NO !!!!!!!! It was too busy ! There was three girls working and only TWO customers in there ! TWO !! I was SO embarrassed ! I have never been so disrespected ! I don't care if its the only Sephora ever I will not ever return ! read more
