The staff is so incredible! Very knowledgeable about the products in the store and give great quality honest advice and recommendations. The staff doesn't hover or act intrusive but are available when you need them or seem stumped and are happy to stay with you as much as possible to be as helpful as possible, time willing but are never too far if you require further assistance. The staff are kind, friendly and not pushy. If you're going into Sephora, you're not going to look around, you're there for a purpose and reason. That was a wonderful shopping experience, exactly as I've come to expect when I walk through the entrance and leave with my cute stripped bag or three and I of course will be back. I'm a customer but I always feel welcomed and comfortable in the store and with the staff. They actually all seem to enjoy working there as it shows in their customer service and sales approach. Long story but helpful if you have time to read. I want to warn everyone. I have been Rouge for many years and happy with all of my purchases since until April 10, 2024. I placed an order online in total of $428 for delivery on April 7 at 1am. It said delivery by April 11. On April 7 at 6am, the very first thing I did after I woke up was I chatted with their customer to ask them hold off my package for 2 days while it's still in the warehouse or if they could switch to a pickup order because I would be on vacation with my family that I haven't met for 4 years until April 12. They said "No". They couldn't do anything to stop it. They kept suggesting me having someone to watch the package when I told them already I had no one nearby. They were absolutely a terrible listener. We lived in a townhouse by street and there is no safe spot to put the package at all. I don't know my neighbor or anyone nearby that I could ask to keep the package for me since we just moved there. They said only way I could do is to contact the carrier company myself once it's shipped to ask them to hold it. Okay, fine, once the package was shipped. Status " Awaiting for carrier pickup". It was by TForce Logistics, then I asked Sephora for TForce contact details but when I gave TForce a call, turned out it was TForce Freight which they never ever do delivery for Sephora and they said they have been called a lot from misunderstanding. I was just shocked!! Sephora doesn't know their own people! OMG!! I called again still got a wrong phone number. Anyway, I got TForce correct number eventually but this logistics company is Very bad. They don't know what they're doing. They couldn't pull up the tracking number that Sephora gave. When I asked if they would usually call receivers before delivery or not, they said they wouldn't know until they could pull up the tracking number. They have very low rate on Google. People have bad experience with them. However, Sephora choose to just use the cheapest carrier to save themselves and offer pain to their customers. I was on the phone with Sephora and TForce on my vacation back and forth for more than 4 hours and my request still didn't get done. I was very upset and worried and this matter literally ruined my good time with my family. Sephora third customer service that I called said TForce wouldn't be able to pull up the tracking number until they receive the package from Sephora. I called Sephora again and couldn't hold my tears because I was so worried that my package would get stolen while I was away. The last customer service I spoke with on that day asked me to choose if I wanted a refund or delaying they shipment. I said refund and I would return all the products to the store if it doesn't get lost because I just wanted to get done with this order. She asked me to call back when the status changes to "Delivered" and they would proceed the refund. On April 9 at 6pm, I noticed that the status had been changed to "Picked up by carrier". I thought, okay, now TForce should be able to pull up the tracking number and hold it for me. On April 10, I called Tforce again at 7am to hold it. They said they couldn't because it's already on the way. The only way they could do is to put a note for the driver to read and hold off. Sure enough, my package was delivered at my front door at 8:30am without any phone call from them. I called Sephora according to her instructions and it was picked up by a more senior customer service. I was devastated that they would not be responsible for any loss or stolen package. It's there, then it's there. And there would be no refund. She said no one would promise me that and it was just that they would try to delay the shipment. I tried to explain that I was offered for 2 solutions which was either refund or postponing the shipment. If I knew that there wouldn't be a refund, I would have picked postponing the shipment instead. I asked her if it's my fault and begged for empathy but her response was "Is there anything else I can do for you?". I was just in a Big Big shocked moment. Basically she said that I was lying. I challenge Sephora here to go listen to our conversation and tell me if that customer service used the word "try" or not. It was a FIRM solution she gave to me!! Before excusing someone or protecting your own people, look at yourself first. Everyone, there is no room from Sephora for emergencies or mistakes or changes once you place an order for delivery. I would like to tell my story to everyone at the loudest voice so that no one has to suffer like me. I will still shop at Sephora because I need Dr Dennis products otherwise i would say bye to Sephora forever. I tried my best to be responsible for my order but no help from Sephora at all. I'm really not a fan of the drastic change in service lately considering the prices are quite high. Items are listed as being in stock so I go in and look for the item, it isn't on the shelf so I ask a staff member and they just go to the shelf and tell me it isn't there. I shouldn't have to pester them to check the inventory because 9 times out of 10 the item is actually there when they check further. They don't greet you when you enter the store anymore either. No free samples most of the time. I would order online instead but a lot of the stuff freezes in shipment and sometimes I want to use cash or debit and can't do this on the app. I wish there was a competitor I could go to instead. read more

Lady at Cash acts like she's better than you. The last time I was in to buy something, I thought maybe she had a hard day or things going on. I went back five days later to the same attitude. Employees like that make it so I will not go back. She treated me like I was a bother when all she was doing was checking out my purchases. Though I'm still in love with the products they offer, I'm no longer dazzled by the brand name of the store itself. I seem to never get the proper professional service from the staff here. No one seems to know much about any of the products I'm ever looking for and there's either too many people who want I help me I don have a moment to really look at anything or there's never anyone when I need help. This is the worst Sephora I've ever set foot in. I've been searching for a nice tinted moisturizer for my extremely pale skin, after nothing at Mac was light enough for me I came here hoping to find something. I am pretty ignorant to all things makeup so I generally need a bit of help finding what it is I'm looking for. Especially here, in this makeup supermarket. Well that didn't happen. After asking for help from a few people who replied "oh yeah I'll get someone to look after you", I just ended up trying some tinted moisturizer on my own skin. When I still couldn't find anything that didn't make me look orange, I tried yet again to find some help. One woman said "I can help you when I'm done with this lady", 10 minutes later she was helping someone else. The only staff interaction that occurred was this extremely aloof b**ch who just told me about a promotion but didn't ask if I needed any help and didn't seem to want to help when I asked her questions. She was so rude I just decided to leave. Also didn't help she was completely orange and looked about 10 years older than she actually was due to the ridiculous amount of makeup on her skin. Who wants to accept makeup advice from someone like that? I adore the store. But the staff here are terrible and this location is lacking. Not to mention they sold a poor selection of the Philosophy and Bliss products I was interested in buying. I've been a Sephora fan for many years and have been lucky enough to visit a few stores around the world. I actually got kicked out of a Sephora in Malaga, Spain. It was siesta time and bitch don't mess with beauty sleep. But, back to the Halifax location. I am so thrilled we finally have a Sephora. It opened days before my birthday, so with a little.. um... encouragement from me, some of my friends banded together to give me a Sephora gift card. I was the proverbial kid in a candy store when I first walked in. I feared we might get short-changed on the size of the store, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty much the right size for Halifax, I think. Still one of the smaller stores I've been in, but the space is so well used. I spent two fabulous hours there and could have stayed all evening if I didn't have plans. So much to look at and try on. It was very busy, but not so much that I couldn't move around freely. I received amazing customer service the entire time - not an easy feat with so many customers requiring service at one time. Best of all, I am insanely happy with everything I picked out that evening, from facial cleanser to foundation faker. My makeup bag received a much needed jolt. read more

The "mother ship" as my beauty blogging friends and I like to call it, is full of just about all of the makeup a beauty junkie could dream of. All mid- to high-end of course. From hair to makeup, skincare and perfume, Sephora can help you out. Ever wanted a designer lipstick? Yeah, they've got it. A lipstick under $25? Probably not going to happen. This isn't the place to go if you're on a budget. But it is definitely the place to go if you want to look at beautiful makeup with well-designed packaging that smells like chocolate. The staff can be hit or miss - I honestly tend to shop online so I don't have to deal with people, but when I do go in store they can feel really snobby at times. Others are incredibly friendly, but sometimes...yeah, not the greatest. If you need help finding something it can be a challenge to find someone, but if you know exactly what you're looking for it's great. The best parts of Sephora are being able to try on makeup before you buy it. They sample just about anything if you ask so you can try that super expensive foundation before you dish out for it, and they'll match you to the right colour while they're at it. Within the last year they've also got a Benefit Brow Bar, which is very exciting for people who love a well-groomed brow. read more

I was luckily and avoided the crowds by checking out Sephora on a Monday evening, so I could fully take in the store. While it's not as large as some I've been in, it is a good size for Halifax. The store looks shiny and new, and I really enjoy the end displays which often have the best of a product like eyeliner, and have 10-20 different brands, so you don't have to travel all over the store to test out the different eyeliners. I was a bit disappointed because the product line I was looking for they don't carry, so if I want it I will have to order online. I also find that the prices are marked up higher than the US stores, which while common, still sucks. The staff are friendly and approachable. I like that they have lots of last minute picks in the line-up, but I wish I could see them without having to line up. What I like about Sephora is that they often carry different sets and gift boxes, which are great for birthdays, thank you, and hostess gifts and I see a lot of my Christmas shopping being done at this store. read more

Sephora is clearly female product heaven. I've never taking a huge liking to the stores I've been in in other cities, probably because it's a bit overwhelming for me. I'm a simple gal who loves simplicity when it comes to skin care, so I don't really buy into all of the "necessary" products that the beauty industry markets to women. Wow - rant much? Let's get back on track. I went into Sephora this weekend on a mission to find Lavanila, a natural deodorant, that had been recommended to me. The first clerk that saw me was helpful, and led me to the right area of the store, and I was asked if I needed assistance by at least two or three other clerks while I was in there. For some reason there were at least 5 people staffed in the store on a Saturday AM, but who knows? Maybe that's normal. I don't have much more to say, because I wanted and in-and-out experience and I got it. The all-black attire and heavy eye makeup that everyone was wearing was a bit much for me, but I'm happy to know that when I want specific beauty products they are within reach. read more

The few products I've tried here were alright but I probably would have purchased more throughout various mall trips if I felt like even one worker there knew anything about the products and at least offered to help.. even once. I went in looking for a certain lipstick recently and the girl behind the counter just stared at me without smiling or saying hello, let alone asking if I need help. After not finding what I was looking for I asked for some help and it seemed like I was a huge inconvenience for her even though she wasn't doing anything. My first visit to the relatively new Sephora store in Halifax Shopping Centre was just the other day. It's a huge store, which, can be kind of intimidating at first, especially if you aren't quite sure what you are looking for. The sales associates are friendly enough and even helped me find the perfect shade of lip gloss. This store has it all: Brands like NARS, Stila & YSL are in full supply. Perfume? DIOR, Marc Jacobs, PRADA and every designer name in between. They have full skin care and hair care lines there and just about any type of spa tool or accesory you could possibly need to beautify yourself. So here's the thing about make-up and me. I never wore make-up until last summer. I had moved in with girls and Lindsafarne decided to educate me that not only was mascara my friend, I also had to buy new mascara, because it turns out that eye make-up can go bad. Who knew? Not the old me, that's for sure! Life was easier before I needed five different brushes to push coloured pigment over and around my eyelids to make me super duper sparkly pretty. Easier, yes, but I do have to admit that it is kind of fun. And also expensive. Sooooo expensive. Sephora is one of the most magical of lands. Do you know they not just sell make-up (inducing a ton of vegan and animal friendly products, YAY!), they have magical machines that can scan your skin and then recommend any and all products that are the exact shade. Like, the EXACT shade. I'm sure it's secretly leading to a government conspiracy, but that could just be just because I'm flying to Denver and preparing by re-reading about their crazy-awesome airport. They have a great selection of perfume towards the back, with another computer to help you pick scents. They carry some very high-end brands and it's fun to smell the latest celeb fragrances. Sometimes they have tiny perfume sampler sets for sale, which are super fun to collect. The mini bottles are just so girly! I love them! The staff here can vary from day to day. Some days I'm accosted, but it's never a problem as the people who work here are always super entertaining and fun to be around. Well, that or they just ignore you and vanish behind the shelves. I'm a solitary shopper, so I don't mind the silent treatment, but I know it would be a turn-off for others. To be honest, I don't buy a whole lot of make-up here. Makeup is for me a necessity and an indulgence, which is why having a Sephora in Halifax is appreciated. I have been to Sephora's across Canada and the US so I feel I can compare the store here to the others. Size: Spacious and well lit. Some aisles are wide enough for browsing and others to move past. Other areas are not as generous with the space. Decor: Bright and sleek. Staff: Uneven in service. Sometimes I go in there and they are helpful. Other times I seem to be invisible. Uneven in product knowledge. Again - they are expected to be well versed in all products, some are good and others need to work at it. Pricing: It's a mixed bag. Some on par with other items of that caliber other items outrageously expensive (imo). Selection: Extensive. Cosmetics, skin care, beauty regimes, hair care products, accessories (brushes, etc) and fragrances for men and women. They carry many brands. Checkout: Generally positive, although with the headsets sometimes they are distracted from the customer while following the conversation in their ear. I have been shopping a sephora for years but not in Halifax I've been to the stores in states and Toronto but i was really excited when they came to Halifax which meant I could save of shipping and duty fees! Sephora is basically like makeup heaven I think they have close to 365 brands of makeup but only select brands in the stores I have been disappointed over the years they have discounted some really great brands and decided to keep brand they don't really need for example they got rid of tarina tarantino to keep clinique but you can get clinique down the hall at sears. The staff are really friendly and willing to help if needed, Their products can be a bit pricey but some of them do mad wonders I'm always careful in what I choose to buy as some products down give you much as for what they are asking. I love how they have a great selection to choose from but I would really appreciate it if they didn't have an item being able to order it in for the customer instead of the customer having to order online. I could spend hours upon hours in sephora it really is difficult to go out of the store empty handed but sometimes with everything they have to offer it is difficult to know where to start. But be very careful when they ask you about using your points at the checkout I was told I could get a free gift with no value taken off my points when I got home I realized I was missing 500 pts. And I couldn't get it back but they gave me a free mascara etc. to make up for it. read more

I just went to this store today to get full face makeup done, all I can say is that im amazed. At first I was scared to death about the negative yelp reviews for this store with the staff "stalking" you, (etc.) but all I can say is that those are completely untrue from what ive seen. The store was pretty warm as the staff had to fan themselves off continuously. As I walked into the store it was quite busy but me being extremely patient, I didnt care. I had an appointment booked but had to wait for 20 minutes since there were only 3 seats to get makeup done. I had a very nice lady named catherine help me, she was amazing at doing my makeup and I was shocked at how well she did. I definetly will go back again as I had a wonderful experience at this location. read more

I was really excited to finally get to this brand new store this week (I wanted to avoid the opening weekend mobs so went on a Tuesday night and the crowds weren't bad at all. The store is just like every other Sephora - very sleek and shiny with miles and miles of cosmetics. It is actually a bit overwhelming when you first enter and it is hard to know where to start but everything looks really appealing and it's organized well. There is so much to look at you could easily spend hours in there and still not get to everything! One of the things I love about this chain is their displays - all the products are clearly labeled (although sometimes it's hard to find a price as it's often embedded amongst other graphics or not labeled at all), and you can sample everything which I love. You don't want to spend $50 on something only to discover it's not really the colour or texture you thought. Unfortunately there were a lot of products that did NOT have testers available when I went though and that was a little frustrating. There were also things that I was interested in but they were out of. However, since they just opened and have been insanely busy, they can be forgiven for a little bit of disorganization. I was happy to see lots of staff wandering the floors - if you had a question it definitely would not take long to find someone to help you out. I had one associate offer me a basket, which was really helpful bc my full hands were making it hard to browse. This is a small thing but it shows they are paying attention to customers and their experience. When we asked one girl on the floor for a recommendation for an acne spot treatment, she showed us to one that she swears by, told us a bit about the product, and then offered to give me a small sample to take home and try to see if I liked it! I was really impressed with her help and giving out a sample is smart because if I like it I will definitely go back and buy the full size. Her help really added to my positive experience. The line-up area is not the greatest - it's quite small and sort of mashed into the middle side of the store, and I don't even know where the line would go once it got too long for the bank-style ropes! However, the cashiers were fairly fast and friendly and we were offered more samples at that point, so can't complain too much (I would just hate to see it at Christmas-time *shudder*). I'm excited to have a high-end retailer added to the Halifax shopping landscape, and one that offers products you can't get anywhere else but online. I will definitely be back often (probably far too often for the good of my wallet)! read more

The scene: Yes, I was actually one of the (many) crazed Sephora fans who braved opening day at Halifax Shopping Centre. Sure, I had the day marked on my calendar and yes, I had been counting down the days in eager anticipation, but I wasn't THAT fanatic as to be there first thing in the morning. I waited a whole hour after the doors opened...and a good thing I did because I only had to wait 5 minutes in line to enter. Now the full hour I had to wait in line to pay for my two small purchases was another story. Talk about hype! Still, I was content to wait as there was much to fondle, smell, test while waiting in line. The store is definitely all that: bright, shiny, filled to the brim with every kind of (high end) beauty product your little heart can dream of. Eager (freshly trained) sales staff, armed in bright red lipstick and yellow scarves, ready to download all their newly acquired product knowledge on you. I must admit I felt kind of ambushed that first day, but upon subsequent visits (oh yes, I've been back), the staff seem to have chilled out a wee bit...and the line-ups are not as outrageous. As for products, I'm not into skin care lines or fragrances so I can't really comment on those other than they seem to carry everything. My thing is make-up and frankly, the selection is almost too overwhelming. You kind of need to find out what line(s) you like best and then stick to those. For value (well, relatively speaking) and stay power (as in highly pigmented lipsticks and shadows) I recommend the Make Up Forever line. The lipstick is pretty awesome. For concealing and highlighting products, I am totally into Benefit...fav products: Lemon-Aid, Boing! Concealer and High Beam. For teens and young twenty-somethings, the Tokidoki line is super cute - great packaging, adorable characters and "stories", and pretty decent eyeshadows (if used with a good primer). All in all, if you want selection, friendly helpful staff (albeit a bit overzealous), and a chance to feel fabulous and twerk your inner girlie-girl, definitely check out Sephora at HSC. But bring your credit card...and some self-control. It's definitely a trap. And close your eyes when you pass all the impulse items at the cash line-up. Not worth it. read more

I love coming to sephora! I always love looking and trying the fregrences, the employees are always so helpful. But no employee has been as good as Vee today!! I have to say I've never felt such positive vibes off a person in my life!!! She was so helpful, and she was so much fun to talk to about fregrences and just everyday things! I was first introduced to Sephora a few years ago when I was living in Orlando, Florida. It wasn't hard to fall hard and fast for this high-end make-up boutique that now has locations around the world. I was lucky enough to be invited to their private grand opening last night (it was packed!). I would be lying if I didn't say that I was completely overwhelmed. I felt like a kid in a candy store! Somehow I managed to spend over two hours wandering around, admiring all of the pretty things and chatting with the unbelievable staff. They were so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about their products (which is probably why I ended up spending what I did). While I was shopping I also signed-up for their 'Beauty Insiders Club' which is their free rewards programs. For every dollar you spend you earn a point. Points can be traded in at any time for beauty perks. As an insider you also receive free gifts at different times of year, including your birthday! I'm not a makeup snob, I swear. Well... Maybe a little. Since the store has been open for roughly two years now, I've been wearing more makeup. I still never perfected the whole foundation routine but that's because I still haven't been matched properly and I pretty much gave up. The lighting in the store is atrocious if you want to get matched for foundation. I recommend that you take foundation samples home to try out on the chance that you may come walking out a little yellow. Don't get me wrong the staff are still lovely, when you can find them. Maybe the times I've gone in have been a bit understaffed, but the girls are usually helpful and maybe someday when the lighting isn't so poor I'll find my foundation match. read more

Here is what i didn't like It took forever for someone to come and assist.. it's not they were understaffed coz at some point i noticed that two assistants were swarming around a client for over 15 minutes.. half of which the associates were giggling and talking to each other.. but hey.. i was rewarded with Chelsea so that made me feel a "LITTLE" better! Let me preface this by saying I am what you would call at least a little Sephora obsessed, if not majorly Sephora obsessed. Yes, they are most definitely on the pricier side of things but as a makeup artist, I don't mind spending the extra dollars to make my clients feel that they're getting a more prestige experience with my product selection. I am constantly browsing online to see what's new and check out customer and beauty expert reviews. This being said, I was beyond excited to find out that Halifax was getting a Sephora of its own. Unfortunately, out of all the times I've visited this store, only a few rendered a positive experience. At best, the girls seem generally unhelpful and bored, this is when they aren't busy following you around the store or being outright rude. The first visit there was around Christmas time, it was quite busy so I didn't have high expectations in the way of help, which is fine. I also work retail so I understand it can be tough. One girl did, however, find the time to follow me around the store, eyeing the $100+ worth of products in my hand without once offering me help. Even if she legitimately thought I was there to steal, her best course of action would have still been to offer me help or offer to hold the products at the cash for me. Another instance of bad service was when I went to buy a gift for a nail obsessed co-worker. The store was incredibly quiet, with about two or three other women shopping around. As I have no nails and am completely useless in that department, I wandered around their nail bar looking for some help, even commenting near two of the girls chatting with each other that I really wish I could get some direction as I was totally lost. Still, nothing. Finally, a girl that was working further away by the skin care came over and offered me assistance, directing me to a new product quite popular with manicure gurus. The absolute worst I would have to say is the occasion when one of the girls followed me for over half an hour without offering assistance before finally walking over, shoving a basket at me and asking if I was looking for something. I told her what I'd really like to find, she looked me up and down, paused, gave me a snotty look and said "We have something like that, but it's expensive, I don't think you could afford it." No, I don't always look the best when I'm out picking up makeup, as 9 times out of 10 I'm doing it to restock my kit and viewing it as a chore on a long list of errands I need to run on that day. But it is certainly not up to the sales girl to decide what I can and can't afford, especially when I'm already carrying literal handfuls of pricey makeup. The positive thing about this was the manager's reaction, when I sent an email to the company regarding my disappointment with this particular experience, the manager sent me a personal email within hours apologizing and offering to rectify the actions of her employee. That, I was impressed with. Unfortunately, as excited as I was about Sephora coming here, I now do most of my shopping online (the samples online are some extra incentive there, as you never get them in the store itself), unless I really need to go in and see a particular colour or texture in person. Despite all that, there is one especially helpful younger Asian girl that works there, she's helped me twice now and both times greeted me within 5 minutes of walking in the store, informed me about current promotions and offered to help me find what I was looking for. So Sephora isn't all bad, but the majority of the girls need a serious overhaul in customer service before I'll become a regular at this location. read more

I LOVE Sephora, I love all the products there, but the customer service side is seriously lacking. I get ignored usually when I am there, or the people dont seem to know what they are talking about. I went in there once and someone tried to do my makeup with a DIRTY makeup brush, then got really mad when I told her to clean it. Usually I love Sephora. Being teenagers (16-18), my friends and I love to go in and swatch lipsticks and such, and sometimes buy things we fall in love with. Usually the people working there are helpful and nice, fake-nice as anyone in customer service has to be, but nice nonetheless. Unfortunately, yesterday, someone forgot their fake-nice attitude. One of my friends decided she wanted to buy the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, but when we looked to where they are usually stocked they were out. That was fine. We had seen in other, larger stores people opening the drawers beneath the displays for stock of items, so we went to open the drawer, without knowing customers weren't supposed to. A woman working came up behind us and quite rudely said, "Um, excuse me? Clients are not allowed to open the drawers? So...don't?" The way she said this made it seem as if we knew this rule and then proceeded to open every single drawer we possibly could, when in reality we closed it as soon as she said it was not allowed. I am not sure why the sass and attitude felt necessary to her, it was incredibly condescending. Then, we walked away feeling humiliated, and waited for someone else to help us. We asked another girl who opened the drawer, and as we all stared at about 10 ABH Glow Kits, let us know that they were completely out of stock. I'm not sure if the products in the drawers are reserved for something else, but it would be nice if someone could explain why we felt blatantly lied to. In the past, when I was trying to buy something seemingly out of stock, at larger stores the drawers were for more stock and I was able to buy the products that were there. Bottom line is, if you want to sell products to young adults, which you clearly do as you try to be 'hip' and advanced, you should not talk down to customers or treat them like idiots or children. I am hoping the one woman who acted like this was just having a bad day and does not treat everyone this way on a regular basis! And please explain the drawers!! read more

Frist day the store opened. I was not given a welcome package store card. I had the feeling it was becuase I looked like the rest of the husbands getting dragged around but in fact I was interested in the brand, store and products etc... On other visits without the hype and angry looking husband crowd. I had great service. You can try every product in the store. If you want a sample. The staff will get one for you in the sent department. I am glad I gave this place a second chance. A sent I really fell in love with L'EAUPARKENZO HOMME EDT or just simply ask for Kenzo for men. It was the reg one not the one that cost more. So fresh and nice smelling. read more

I really like this store. I've been in ones in Toronto and across the U.S. before this one opened and I'm glad to finally have one here! It's sometimes hard to get someone to help you, but once they do they're really good. They have given me free samples of products I have been interested in to try out, or to hold me over if they were out of stock. I love all the purse sized ones they have for the perfumes. Very handy not only for my purse but for travelling too! read more

I have been a long time customer of Sephora. Long before the store opened in the Halifax Shopping centre I ordered online. Every time I am in the store I have at least one or two employees come up and ask if I need help, have questions, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful. I feel like a valued customer here and will continue to be a faithful shopper! read more

Okay, so what do you say about Sephora? I like Sephora, Yelp might say "Yay! I'm a fan" of the place. It's where I get most of, if not all of, my makeup. They have better deals online, if you're into free samples. I'm into free samples. I like going in because I'm one of those people that I couldn't match my skin tone with a foundation if I tired. My mind is too preoccupied by how tan and dark skinned I'd like to be, that it can't see how white and pasty I really am. Therefor, I need professional help, or at least Sephora employee help. So far, everyone who has helped me out has steered me in the right direction. I love almost everything they sell in Sephora, including the skin care and hair products. I also like the Sephora branded products, I really like their liquid and pressed powder foundations. I'm usually a MAC snob when it comes to liquid foundation, but the Sephora brand is on par, plus the price is a ton better. Now that I think about it, you know what else I like about this Sephora? It doesn't feel like a watered down, Nova Scotia version of the store. Big props for that. read more

I LOVE Sephora, I order from they're online site all the time. So imagine my excitement that they opened up a store in Halifax! No more shipping fees! Then I went in.... The store itself was beautiful well lit, great product placements, clear labeling. Perfect. But the staff...Oh the staff, I spent a 1/2hr in the store with not one person acknowledging I was there. Then once an employee approached me not only did they not ask if i needed any help, they didn't bother excusing themselves as they stepped infront of my view of the product display but then called another person infront of me as well, who then hit my stroller containing my 5mth old daughter. Promptly followed by a heavy sigh and eye roll directly toward me. If you know hat you want perfect go and get it but if you need help or have a small child who has a stroller expect to be ignored/treated unwelcomed and to literally have your stroller bumped then sighed at like you hit them. read more

I have been to sephora in Vancouver and also this one, I visited this one about 2 weeks ago and will NEVER return. I was in this store for 4 minutes and approached by 5 different reps. Yes approached 5 times in 4 minutes!!! I didn't end up doing any shopping as I was so annoyed after #5 I walked out and went and bought my clinique supplies at Sears. Do these people make commission? I have enjoyed Sephora for quite a few years now, so I was really excited when they finally came to Halifax. Whenever I'm at the mall I always like to go in and look around at all the products they have. I'm quite impressed with the products and how they have them set up. My problem is the people that work there. There are some good ones that are friendly and helpful, but the most of them need to work on their customer service. I've seen them give dirty looks and talk about how costumers look in this store. It's disgusting. I always go in there knowing no one is going to help, so I usually do my research online. And whatever you do, do not go in with a MAC bag because they will not help you at all. I did this once and got a lot of stares. I always know going into this Sephora that I'm being judged on my looks, and it really makes me not want to go in there...but I still do cause I love looking at all the products. read more

I went to Sephora in HSC to have a makeover for my birthday. A little pampering is required on one's 25th celebrations! We were heading out to the club (surprise) that night so I wanted a bolder look than I can normally achieve myself without the raccoon eye thing happening. I originally opted to call MAC for this but they were booked so I called Sephora. The call was good, had a very helpful scottish (?) girl who let me know all the steps. First, show up a few minutes early and buy a $50 gift card to earn the 'free' makeover. I think this is a great idea, especially if you planned to go buy makeup anyway because then you get a free makeover! This was my first time at Sephora, I read some reviews so I was expecting it to be busy. Sure enough it was, but the store is soo pretty and has a LOT to look at. Yes the girls who work there are a bit on the makeup heavy side but everyone I saw still looked great. I was helped as soon as I walked in the door by a girl named Sarah who also happened to be the girl doing my makeup. I said I was here for a makeup session so she walkie-talkied another girl and said I was here. Pointed me in the direction of the cashiers to get my gift card, where I also got an awesome free gift cause it was my birthday month (2 NARS lip pencils, full size). I was then led by the cashier to the beauty studio which was a bar style center island with stools and mirrors. Sarah came over and introduced herself and asked what look I was going for. I told her what the evenings plans were, and that I wanted something bold but not bright colors. She opted for a very nice bronzy/gold/shimmery burgandy smokey eye with a bold winged eyeliner, pink/nude lips with a gold shimmery lip gloss, and very defined cheek bones. Loved it! She told me all the products as she used them and what she was doing with them, my friend also came by and asked some questions which she was happy to answer. It was a full hour and she didn't rush. Afterwards she got me some samples of some of the products and I also bought a concealer and a highlighter (with the $50 gift card I bought prior to) and at the cash they gave me tons more free samples of stuff! Now: Yes the store was busy. All the girls were out on the floor, none of them were hiding behind displays or any of that. Everyone I overheard sounded very knowledgeable, as was my girl Sarah. The products are more expensive than drugstore brands because they are better quality and you will use less of them! I wasn't thrilled with the mascara she used, not sure what it was, but it turned out slightly clumpy which I'm not keen on, so I would have preferred to do my own (a full separated fan is what I normally go for). The Beauty Studio is smack dap in the middle of the store, so everyone is constantly walking behind you to look at the products. Which would be fine, but the aisles are not super big so anyone with a big purse would bump into my back while I was sitting and I was afraid that would mess up my application (especially of the gel eyeliner - eek) but it turned out fine. Overall I had a fantastic experience and will go back. Next time I'm in the market for makeup I will buy the gift card and get the free makeup session! You don't even have to use the GC on yourself, you could give it to a friend. Perfect treat you don't have to feel guilty about :) You do need to book the makeup sessions though and although I called the day before they only had 2 spots open (12-1 or 3-4, I chose the latter) so I guess that means they book up quick. read more

I cannot live without Sephora! I love looking at new makeup. The only bad part is that we don't have all of the brands in store like they do online. But then I just order online and if I don't like the product I just return in store. The staff has gotten much better or maybe they are better trained then before. One of these cashiers was unbelievably rude. She literally refused to answer typical questions about the total and almost became argumentative in trying to force me to pay before responding to me. I just cancelled the transaction and requested to take a couple of items out to which she replied to that with "what" in an extremely spiteful tone and didn't offer to assist me, or even pass the bag to me for that matter. I removed anything beyond the "necessities" I came for and then she said "it's going to take me a few minutes because now I have to find your gift card," in a tone that implied I was somehow at fault. Yes, finding the card I JUST gave you is going to be soooo time consuming in your busy schedule of standing there doing nothing. When I finally tried to make my purchase, my debit card was declined and I was told that the machine won't work with BMO cards, but offered no apology or alternative other than "you can go get cash out or come back tomorrow" which was conveyed in a way that she might as well have just said "get out." Of course, as most adults would have, I paid with a credit card, which apparently didn't occur to her as an option. Following this abhorrent 15 minute check-out, she offered me a sample "for dry hair" which sounded more like a thinly masked jab than a genuine offer. I emailed customer service who directed me to the store director and she sent me some generic e-mail with no follow-up when I responded. I'm not entirely surprised I had the experience I did given that management here doesn't seem to care either. read more

Went to this store on Saturday to buy a gift. The first associate was helpful. Then waited inline to check out for 20 minutes. The cash associate was so busy getting email addresses for the loyalty program each transaction took ages. Then someone in line requested that another cash open. Eventually a guy turned up with the portable credit card machine. I went to him and asked him to send the manager. He turned to the manager and said she wants to talk to you and trounced off. So rude. I told the manager politely we have been waiting for such a long time. She said it was lunch- but there were many staff on the floor selling products but only one checking people out. Told her that people expect a quicker checkout and as manager she should have planned that and had the second checkout set up before lunch. She apologized but was obviously out of her depth.
