I waz in Sephora 2 weeks ago and asked teixe for help finding lipstick and eyeshadow. Both times I was told that the staff were all busy yet when I was walking out there were 2 staff down one isle talking and 3 at the front door. If sephora dont bring back the excellent staff they had 2 years ago where they knew what to sell us they didnt stand around talking they knew there jobs well. Now what is going on they are running Sephora right into the ground and I found the eyeshadow and lipstick I wanted at shoppers drug mart in West zed the staff there wasnt busy talking and in the end sold me far more then I needed but I left there happy and waa excited that woman woth experience in skincare could advise me on further skincare as well. Sephora is not what it use to be and that will cost them their business unfortunately. read more

I bought shade 26 in Neutral Sand. I really like this powder foundation, as it works well with my skin type and reduces the look of pores.

Easy to find in the mall. Love the greeter who makes you feel welcome. Lots of staff about who are really friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Quinn who was most helpful in helping me purchase a powder foundation. They do push their own brand but I have Loved their products so far and soooo reasonably priced. Also if you have signed up for their program and buy something during your birthday month you get a free gift (pick from the samples near the cashier). I have a lip gloss I want in lipstick form and they were more than happy to color match and find me an appropriate substitute. Lots of products, lots of stock. I went in to buy something today at the WEM store. It took a while before someone came to me as I tried to get someone's attention. There were two employees greeting customers at the front of the store. ( around 11-11:15 am). One of the girls( the taller one) came over to help me and what I wanted was on display except that it was broken. She showed me another product that was comparable and was explaining something to me , when the shorter one came and said she was going on her break soon and she can take over from the one attending to me. No excuse me no nothing just cut in and carried a conversation with the other one as if I wasnt there. The one who butted in just kept going oblivious of the fact that the other staff and I were in a conversation. So I just had enough and I said forget it , dont have to treated that way especially I was there to shop. She was very rude . read more

This really is the best makeup place to shop in town. Sure there are some awesome boutique stores like Lux, but no one has the variety that Sephora does for departement/high end lines combined with affordable quality lines like Sephora's namesake. You can book a makeover/appointemnt at the beauty bar by purchasing a $50 gift card that you can then in turn use to purchase some of the products tried on you. You can also get spur of the moment beauty help and colour matching by finding an available make up artist. My daughter, now 6, has loved coming here since she was 4! The girls would always ooh and ahh over her and put sparkles on her and a little blush or lip gloss. It's really a fun place for a girly girl and I don't think any guy could go wrong getting a gift certificate for any girl in his life - be it a sister, mom, or girlfriend! With everything from Bobbi Brown, to Benefit, to Philosphy (my husband always steals my philosphy body products) to Clarisonic skin care - Sephora pretty much has it all or has something that will suit your needs! And don't be shy to ask for help from someone assigned to a particular department - there are loads of staff everywhere to help you find something but then there are individuals trained in particular lines of makeup that can best help you with specific questions or concerns. Sephora is like the cosmetics Superstore. It's makeup galore here, and nothing else. I find that one can have one of either two reactions to this store: sheer euphoria from being amidst a beauty haven, or total and overwhelming claustrophobia from being amidst so many beauty products. Or a gradual slide from one to the other. Mine was the third one. I felt ecstatic on my first trip to Sephora. There were all brands of beauty products left, right, and centre, some which I've never even heard of. But gradually I started to feel overwhelmed, and couldn't make up my mind. Maybe I was too excited for my own good! I still love this store though. They have everything you need for your makeup drawer, and then some. I got a nail polish corrector here once, which is one of the coolest things I ever saw. If you're like me and you're just awful at painting your own nails, this little marker thing acts like an eraser and just cleans off the excess nail polish you put on. Easy peasy. I also love that they give you free stuff for your birthday when you get membership with them. It's free to join, and they give you the best stuff, not dumb nothings that you'll never use. Last time I got a bottle of their vanilla cupcake shower gel, and it was heaven. It's so fragrant and bubbly, and the scent lingers on your skin long after the shower. So I fight my feelings of claustrophobia all for this when I come here. It's so worth it! read more

Great makeup, RIDICULOUS customer service. Yes, the location is convenient and yes, they stock a good range of products, but none of that excuses the snooty and inattentive staff I've encountered every time I've been into this location. I find that, typically, when I need a sales associate to answer a question or something, they're nowhere to be found (unless you look towards the back of the store, where they're all standing around chatting and doing each other's makeup), and when I just want to be left to browse in peace, there'll be an employee not-so-subtly following me like I'm about to steal something, which honestly makes me really uncomfortable. I have even had an employee get visibly irate when I said I didn't need a basket for my single eyeliner pencil. This same girl then proceeded to not let me out of her sight until I left the store. Not a great way to make your customers feel welcome in your store! I also feel like I need to be wearing a full face of makeup when I walk into this store to not be looked down on by the salespeople. The flippant and occasionally abrasive attitudes of the employees have discouraged me from shopping here on more than one occasion, but sometimes convenience beats customer satisfaction! If you can, I would recommend going to the store in Southgate Mall over this location, unless you like being treated as either a thief or an ugly duckling. read more

This location is huge and always busy. I'm actually surprised I haven't reviewed it before now, as I've been shopping here for years! Shawn and I went in the other day to grab a Christmas present, and while I knew exactly where it would be in the Kingsway location, finding it here would would be a bit of a challenge. Seriously, a small tin of three Fresh Sugar balms among all the other glorious loot? Not an easy thing to spot. Luckily, because it was the holiday season, they had an extra person at the door to greet and send people in the right direction. After showing us the set she thought was correct, she said it was probably in the beauty to go section by the till, and she was right! It made things a lot easier, as the store was packed, and if I get distracted in there, it can be a bad time for anyone I'm with. We were in and out in no time. They had all the till open and running smoothly. Service here has usually been friendly and helpful. There are always exceptions, but that goes without saying at most stores. Considering how busy they are whenever I go in, I have always had help when I need it. Sephora really is a make up junkies wonderland. read more

I believe I can trust these people as long as they don't walk me towards the men's lines exclusively, considering the richness of the product lines targeted to women. Not the most extensive product range, but then this is not a major city, let alone Harrods. They do have more online, but that's not the point when shopping at a store. They are patient, helpful and attentive unless they need to rush off to another customer prematurely. Never understood why another customer is more important to tend to before walking the current one to the till; perhaps they prioritise by who needs what, but whatever it is, when in does happen, it doesn't feel good. They provide samples customised for one's needs, and do ask for samples always so you don't end up returning a product after use, though they do graciously take it back. They gave me samples to use as fixes before selling me more product and work with you to achieve results even if it entails not buying more. Let's see how far they go. read more

For a complete line of all the prestige makeups, skin care products and fragrances, Sephora is the Holy Grail. The store is organized by brands which are clearly labeled, so you can locate your favourites or a new product you've heard about fairly easily if you wander around. Be prepared to spend some time if it's your initial visit - the store is large and busy and very full of literally thousands of items clamouring for your attention. I like being able to comparison-shop colours and palettes and ingredients between the brands, not something you get much chance of elsewhere. Getting help can be frustrating unless you are a bit assertive. The newest employees are the ones wandering around and may approach you, but they are not expert at answering your questions. Recently I wanted to get an exfoliant with specific properties, and I was handed off to four different employees before getting to the one who knew that department well, and she was excellent at her area of expertise, listening to my needs, trying different products on my hands, and sending me home with customized samples, enough to try for a full week. Ditto with the makeup - work your way upline to one of their MUA and you'll get excellent attention. One terrific lady ran all over the store collecting different blushes for my hard-to-please skin tone. A+ for their patience and they never, never, NEVER have made me feel I "had" to buy anything. Sephora has increased their own product line significantly and offer most items at less than the prestige brands - their eyeliner pencil selection is phenomenal, wears well, and is decently priced. Eyeshadows tend to all be aimed at the younger demographic - lots of glittery choices, very little matte, but that seems to be true all over in the last couple of years. Well, I was wondering around West Edmonton Mall the other day, actually I was lost, but I came across this interesting make-up store. I don't know about you but I really don't wear too much make-up, I really don't own too many pieces of make-up. Anyways, I decided to check out what they had. On the display right when you walked in I noticed a box set of lip-gloss (something I actually wear) for like $25 (I think there were 6 different colors). I looked around the store; the place was actually busy! I noticed that you could pick up some natural type lipstick that some of the celebrities wear (if you are into looking like the stars) for about $20. I saw some eye shadow starting at $23 and some blush starting at $20. I'm not sure how good some of the make-up is but they had more then one brand. If you are a make-up fan then I suggest you check it out. They have girls on staff that can help you out with shades and even show you how to apply the stuff if you are helpless like me when it comes to putting make-up on. I found the prices to be a little steep but that's because I'm a starving student. If I had a well paying job and hand money to invest on make-up I would totally pick up a few things. This location is super busy. Two weeks ago I went in and asked which makeup companies besides Urban Decay and Kat Von D didn't do animal testing. The makeup rep I spoke to had no idea and told me to do my own research. I have had better service there before that's why I didn't give Sephora West Ed Mall one star. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I browsed this store. All I knew was that they sold makeup because my sister had purchased some from there. I didn't realize that they carried a bunch of different brands of makeup. Interesting. I had no idea that they also sold facial care products like moisturizers, cleansers, masks from a whole bunch of worldwide companies. I realized pretty quickly that they had a fragrance section because one of the employees was spraying seemingly at random and it was making me sneeze. This store had the largest selection of makeup brushes and professional nail and esthetic implements. My absolute favourite part of the entire experience was finding Kat VonD's makeup line! Awesome! Sadly some of the limited edition eyeshadow kits were sold out - the ones with the best colours. I was also disappointed that the cover up won't be available until spring 2009! I was really looking forward to that. I saw on her show when she was using the cover up to hide the tattoos on her wrist. Damn! If that stuff is good enough to cover black tattoos it'll cover pretty much anything! I was thinking about it mainly for my face but I also have a giant tattoo on my forearm that some employers frown upon. It would be nice to have the option to just rub some makeup on it so I could wear a t-shirt without worrying about dress code violations. I ended up purchasing some Kat VonD liquid eyeliner and an impulse purchase while in line I found a roll on version of my favourite fragrance, Stella by Stella McCartney. It was only $12! Hell, I signed up for a membership (which is free) so that I can find out in advance when Kat's stuff is released and of upcoming sales. I guess you earn points or something. I don't know. The first time I walked into Sephora, I was overwhelmed by the craziness of the store. Music was pounding, people were everywhere, and workers were zooming around relaying messages on their headsets. I didn't look at much, because I had to get out of there! Even though Sephora is full of insanity, I still came back here, because they do sell brands that are unavailable at other stores in Edmonton. I went back during a weekday in the afternoon, and it was a much better experience, because the place was empty. I do like Sephora, because they have some great products. There's a Clinique moisturizer I like, and Sephora is the only place I've ever seen it available in a smaller size. They also sell brands like Urban Decay (love the eye potion), Stila, and Benefit. I have mixed feelings about the staff. Some of them are really nice and knowledgeable and others are not. I asked someone which was the best dry shampoo. The lady told me all of them are good. So I bought the Ojon, and it's crap. It does nothing for my hair. But the good thing is that I can return it. Sephora has a great return policy. You can return anything within 30 days, even if you've open it and used it! I also like how you get free samples with their points card. Personally, I think Sephora is a better option than a department store like The Bay or Sears. read more

Amazing store, products, and staff. Everyone is friendly and knowledgable and I always have to stop in at sephora every time I'm at the mall. It's actually dangerous for my wallet. There's a great beauty insider/VIB/VIB rouge points program you can sign up for and you can redeem the points you earn for little sample products! It's perfect if you love beauty supplies and spend way too much on make up. I find that they generally carry a lot of stock and even if they don't, you can order it online. Don't be afraid to ask consultants questions if you have any on any of their products. They are more than happy to find out answers for you even if they don't know it off the top of their head!! They also have testers for almost everything they carry so it's a lot of fun trying out make up/skin/hair products. This way, you know when something fits your skin tone or type without having to commit and drop money on the product. Definitely stop in and try everything out! Sephora altogether seems to be a great place. I love the variety of makeup and the way the sales floor is decorated and organized. However, the sales associates seriously need to organize the testers. The names and makeup are thrown all over the place and you can't find the appropriate name with the colour. I've noticed this when the store has just opened, everything is still a mess. The greeters at the door are awfully quiet and don't say much. Also, the customer service is absolute crap here. If you want knowledge on makeup, do your own research, you might as well because they'll avoid you like the plague here. Find makeup on your own because the associates never approach customers or ask them anything. Countless times I've wandered aimlessly and looked for help and nobody comes, even when clearly seeing customers. The customer service is practically non existent here but sometimes the cashier is nice. Also, pro tip, you can get the brand name makeup for much cheaper online. I was wandering West Ed the other day and I walked past Sephora. It clicked in my head, the Clinique Almost Lipstick I've heard about might be inside this store! (the big Clinique display might have helped me realize this) So in I went. I wasn't greeted, in fact, I was ignored. I was standing right next to one of the employees, trying to figure out what I wanted, and she full out ignored me. No offer of help, no hi how's it going, nothing. She even went so far as to avoid looking at me. I figured out which one I wanted, and went to the cashier. Now, I'm not a make up person, really, so their "Beauty Insider" or whatever program doesn't really appeal to me. When asked if I was a member and if I was interested in joining, I obviously declined. From that point on, the cashier acted like I was a nuisance. Frowning and exuding an attitude that I was wasting her time by buying something. Based on this experience, I won't be back. The store wasn't busy, so I really don't think it's much to ask that I be greeted, and have some assistance offered. read more

Discovering Sephora was both a blessing and a curse. I learned about the luxuries of good makeup, and in return my bank account will forever be depleted since it's impossible to go back. Sephora is constantly buzzing with women and teenage girls in absolute heaven, blowing hundreds of dollars on items that collectively fit in a bag the size of a DVD. Makeup brands hard to find elsewhere in the city sit in colourful displays, with little stations at the ends of shelves stocked with clean disposable makeup brushes, Q-tips, tissues and mirrors that make it easy to try any item. And most of the time, the salespeople are extremely helpful, happy to sit you down to match foundation colours and ensure you're well taken care of. I've had one bad experience, searching for a facial sunscreen with a high SPF that's both non-greasy and good for sensitive skin; they directed me to a product that subsequently gave me a hideous blotchy rash, and when I mentioned it to a Shoppers Drug Mart cosmetician, I was told, "A lot of people have that reaction to that brand." Yikes! But besides that one black mark on my Sephora report card, I go back often for a few staple items: Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in Krystal, Benefit's Benetint, Dior Diorshow mascara, and Urban Decay eyeshadows. Unless you've got cash to burn, stay focused because it's easy to get carried away. read more

Great products and great staff await you at the Sephora location at WEM! I came in looking like a deer in headlights (I do not wear alot of makeup) and was promptly greeted by a very friendly staff member. She made some recommendations for colors she thought would work with my skin tone and let me try some samples. When I found some things I liked she wrote down the names of the brands and shades I liked as well as the stores phone number in case I wanted to phone ahead to make sure what I wanted was in stock before making the trip down. Best of all even though I had some friends with me who were pressuring me to update my look and use more make up she encouraged me to only buy what I felt comfortable wearing. I almost had to get her to repeat herself I was so surprised this girl was willing to lose out on a possible upsell to instead ensure her customer was happy. It is a busy store like all the other locations but appears to be better managed and definitely has some high quality staff. As we walked around the store we passed many ladies holding the little carry bags and still were not offered one or even asked if we needed help. Horrible place to shop. Every time I walk in I'm ignored by the workers, and when I do ask one for help, they act abrupt and rude. Testers are usually missing throughout 1/3 of the store. It seems like they don't properly stock their supplies either, because they're frequently out of dozens of items. The two times i asked for help with applying a shade of eyebrow pomade, I looked like a drag queen at the end. I'd much rather shop online from Sephora, or just go to Mac. read more

I had a negative experience at Sephora and was actually shocked at how badly they treat a customer. When I asked for the manager the manager clearly came out from the back of the store with an attitude of superiority. Her and her staff member were laughing at my complaint. The manager was misusing her authority to bully me using policy as a solution to the problem. I have been using Sephora products for the last 15 years usually shop at Southgate and is the first time at West Edmonton Mall. I would have walked out of this store without dropping 500 dollars on make up but the stores were closing and I'm from out of town and was too late to go to another Sephora store. I think the sales staff and the manager need training on treating people with courtesy and a good attitude so people like myself will have a pleasant experience. read more

Sephora is a dream makeup playground!! It carries a huge range of mid to high end brands, and there are testers for everything so you can try before you buy! Here are some tips on navigating the Sephora experience: 1) Ask for help! The makeup artists aren't on commission to any brand, so ask them for advice! There are makeup artists that specialize in different areas too, like makeup vs skincare because there are so many products to keep tabs on. If they don't know, then they'll get the appropriate person for you. 2) Be sanitary. There are little stations with one time use applicators. Don't double dip!! There's also makeup and nail polish remover to clean up with too. You can also take an item (like lipstick) to a makeup artist and they will sanitize it with alcohol for you. I appreciate getting to try shared lipstick and not come home with herpes, thanks. 3) Learn about how to best use each product. Ask the makeup artists to apply the product on you! I've learned great tips about how to prolong staying power, what type of brushes are ideal for what products, how products can be used double or triple duty. 4) Try at home! The makeup artists will make samples of products for you to try at home. Things that are easy to get out of a tube, like foundation, moisturizer, primer, concealer. Just ask! They are always nice about it. 5) Try not to go on a weekend or holiday season if you have no clue what you want, or are expecting attention. It's swamped, and you have to chase down makeup artists and get to them before everyone else that's waiting. 6) Join the Beauty Insider program. It's free, and at the very least, you'll get a free product on your birthday. It's usually a mini item of a popular high end product. This year it's NARS lip pencils. In past years they have been Benefit mascara and highlighter, Fresh lip balm, Philosophy body wash to name a few. Also, you earn points for each purchase (1 point per dollar), and after 100 points, you can redeem for sample sized goodies. After $350 in a calendar year, you become VIB, and after $1000 you become VIB rouge (each with its own set of increasing perks). 7) Save money. Sephora isn't cheap, and I try to limit my spending there to times when they're having sales. In April, there is a 10-15% discount for beauty insiders ("chic week") and in December they usually email a coupon for $15 or 20 off $50. This Sephora is completely awful! I went in there this past week and I had zero makeup on, hair up and sweats. I literally only came to the mall because I was out of a product and had been offered a free makeup session and facial. So why would I put makeup on? Not only did they not have the product, but nobody said hello to me. One of the girls actually turned around and walked away from me when she noticed I was trying to approach her. I'm no crypt keeper with no makeup on so I can't imagine that being the reason. I had to stand in line and tell them I was there for an appointment. Got seated. The makeup session was supposed to be 45mins long... She was done in 15 minutes. The makeup looked terrible. The foundation was too dark for my skin. I looked like Trump straight out of the tanning bed. The eyeshadow was boring. No contour, highlight or anything fun. She didn't tell me anything about the products or take my suggestions. Some lady who also worked there came over to us and told me she was the best artist in the store... Umm what? I'm a makeup artist. I could have done a better job using my fingers. Then she tried to charge me $50.00. I wouldn't have paid that for the little amount of work she did or the final result. People at this location only care about you if they see you with a basket full of products. Otherwise they stand in groups talking to one another. I would 10/10 NOT recommend this Sephora. Spend your money elsewhere. I would recommend spending it on clothes or food. Buy your makeup from the company's who produce the products themselves online or travel to a different location. read more

I love shopping at Sephora. I am not a make-up maniac but I know and love make-up, and Sephora sells an array of well-known brands to allow any girl to put her best face forward. Unfortunately, not all the make-up brands sold at Sephora(s) in the US make it to Sephora in Edmonton, but we are presented with the nice selection of the brands nonetheless. Same goes for skin care brands: not THAT many are sold at our Sephora, but the selection is ample enough. There are B. Kamins, Bliss, Boscia, Clinique, MD Skincare, Ole Henriksen, Juicy Beauty, Lancome, Dr Hauschka, Caudalie, etc. Skin care section for men is limited, and consists of products by Jack Black and Clinique for Men. At Sephora it is possible to find fragrances that are unavailable at other Edmonton stores. For example, only here will you be able to find fragrances by CLEAN and Philosophy. Customer service is either great or nonexistent depending on how busy the store is. The last time I went to Sephora, which was two days ago, the store was so busy that it felt suffocating. Since there aren't actually that many customer service representatives working in the store, getting any kind of assistance may be impossible. On slower days, Sephora is a pleasure to shop at. read more

I love Sephora. They have a wide range of products which I enjoy. I go to the west ed location because it's very convenient for me. Yesterday I stopped by to ask a few questions about a product I was considering buying. The sales associate that was assigned to help me had to be the most rude person I have ever encountered at the store. She treated me as if I was asking stupid questions and I was wasting her time. Excuse me, I'd like to know info about a product I'm going to buy before I drop 50+ dollars. I've never had a problem at this store before yesterday. Maybe this store should hire some staff that doesn't treat the customers like they are a burden. It is their job to assist customers anyways. Just a horrible experience overall. read more

If there is anything I love it is make-up! M.A.C, Sephora and MiCabella are by far my most favourite brands. I had a Sephora gift card left over from my birthday so I decided to stop over at West Ed and spend it. Sometimes it takes me awhile to make up my mind on what exactly I want. For me, no problem but for some of their employees, it didn't seem like they thought it was normal for me to be taking my time shopping instead of speeding in and out. As soon as I walked in, I had a lady greet me and tell me of some of the new products they where featuring. That is great, good customer service. As soon as she was done, the security guy by the eyeshadows followed me around like he was hot on my tail about to catch me lifting stuff. Every time I picked something up to look at it, he came and stood right behind me. I tried manoeuvring away from him as I found it uncomfortable to try and shop with him hovering over me, and as soon as I went to the other side of the store to look at the displays on the walls, the girl that had greeted me started doing the same thing, with the security guard now hovering by the door and watching me. She watched me like a hawk and followed me around. I finally turned around and stared her down, and she then asked if I needed any help with products, trying to sound upbeat like she was doing me a favour. It's not like it was a slow day and they had nothing better to do, we are talking midday on a Saturday, it was pretty busy in the store. I was dressed neatly and had my hair and makeup done so it's not like I was dressed like a bum or anything that would draw attention to myself. Plus I am older, I am not a teenager. I finally just grabbed two of the smoky eye and natural eye kits off the wall and went and purchased that just to get the whole experience over and done with. When I walked out I saw the security guard go over and talk to the girl who followed me and point in my direction. Nice way to make your customers feel victimized. I would definately buy Sephora products again, but not at this location. read more

I love sephora! Especially WEM store. I live closer to south gate mall but at south gate sephora they have the most awful staff. So rude and not helpful at all. I drive out of my way to go to WEM sephora. read more

The staff at the sephora In West Edmonton Mall are rude, and completely ignore you. Every time I've been in there and asked where a certain item was, they told me to turn around as it was close around me, and then continued to make fun of me for not knowing where it was. They would rather talk to each other than help customers and I've never experienced such bad customer service at a location before . It's like night and day in comparison to the Southgate location, where they at least ask you if you need anything. read more
