I am not a fan of this particular Sephora. It seems as if there are not enough of associates to handle the steady stream of customers. It seemed as if everyone was busy yet they didn't want to be bothered with questions from new customers. One associate was rude when I asked if she was the only available associate in the area. After patiently waiting for her to finish with her current customer, I decided to leave the store because she seemed as if she was over her work day. However, I give this Sephora ONE star because a very kind lady stopped what she was doing to get an answer for me about a particular product. If you know what you need to purchase then this place is good for a quick purchase, but if you have any questions about particular products then I advise that you do not go to this Sephora. I'm really glad there is a Sephora in Brooklyn because that means I no longer have to trudge my butt up to Manhattan when I need my Sephora essentials. The store is conveniently located on the corner where you can catch the bus or train. They usually have what I need in stock and are great about taking online returns with no problems. The staff is helpful and friendly and the products they have are of good quality and in good condition. Be aware though, this place does tend to sell out quickly of popular items, I'm assuming because it is the only Sephora in Brooklyn. So when you want something, grab it quickly! The line can get long but usually goes fast. The longest I've stood waiting is 10 minutes but it does go by quicker than you'd expect. read more

This is the brand new Sephora on court and Joralemon right next to the courthouse in downtown Brooklyn! Ah thank goodness we finally have the black and white stripes in Brooklyn. This location is not as big as other Sephoras I've been in but still, it's Sephora- its' a welcomed sight no matter how small! Everything is shiny and squeaky clean and the sales assistants are chomping at the bit to kiss your ass to get you to buy products. I have changed this review a few times but there are many outstanding issues with this Sephora location. #1, inconsistency in finding someone to help , sometimes you have to go looking for someone to help and sometimes you get great help. #2 the place is a total mess. I worked at a Sephora many years ago and am always shocked at what these displays look like. We were always made to clean, fill, stock, drawers, etc if we weren't doing anything, I never see that happening, and it's very apparent. Can't try anything because there's no testers, I pull stuff out of drawers myself because it's not on the shelf and there's no one around to help. Knowing what it was like when a district manager came through my guess is this store doesn't get that many visits. But it should. This is the grand opening, so there's refreshments and snacks being serve I believe this is the first Sephora in BK. Court & Joralemon, right in the mix. Great selection of men's skin care products, compared to other sephora's that have none. THEY HAVE THE BLACK LINE which GQ always recommends. Very well staffed, associates are very helpful even when you don't need help. They have a bunch of freebies today so come down and have a brownie bite or some punch... I went to a wedding yesterday, and wanted to have my makeup professionally done. I came here yesterday, and had makeup artist Coryn do my makeup. I told her I was new to the makeup thing and wanted to look like myself, but prettier....when I tell you SHE BEAT MY FACE TO THE GODS.....even the lashes she put on me were long lasting, and I didn't blink myself to death because I never wore lashes before. Coryn was very patient with me, and understood my concerns. I will be booking another appointment with her very soon.....thank you Coryn for making me feel like the prettiest girl in the world. I'm not REALLY into makeup like a lot of people but I do enjoy a good mascara and eyeliner. I went in to find a mascara I had sampled and liked. I saw an old post (5 years old...don't judge me! lol!) that said they carried the product and I was just hoping they still did. They did not :(. Anyway, the person who greeted me at the door and offered me hand sanitizer looked at the product I wanted online and said they had a mascara with a similar brush and I would more than likely get the same results with this other brand. After that, I wandered around and marveled at all the stuff available so people can make themselves up. Y'all! It's a LOT of stuff! I then remembered a moisturizer I used before and started looking for it. I but that and left. The people are helpful when you stop them but I didn't find too many of them offering. In a setting like that where there is a mix of novices, like myself, to makeup aficionados, the staff should be better able to find the people who look clueless (again, like myself) and go help them out. Awful customer service. I tried to return something and the manager refused to accept my return even though it was within the time frame for return. I received my item 11/3 and today is 12/2. The item was ordered 10/30 and per their holiday return policy, anything purchased after 10/28 is offered extended returns- not to mention there normal return window is 60 days. After only offering me a store credit I contacted Sephora directly and was told they are not sure why the store manager would not follow the holiday return window and my only option would be to file a complaint against the store, since the store already gave me a merchandise credit. The manager was absolutely refusing to work with me. As a VIB member, extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service at this store. I would not recommend shopping here. read more

My usual store to go to, but recently staff has been incredibly unhelpful and stock has been super low. Last week, I was looking to ask someone to help me match a foundation. Not only do you have to hunt someone down while the store isn't at all busy, but once I did I got a "I have an appointment right now literally anyone else on the floor can help you." Literally, no one else can cause they're nowhere to be found but thank you. Today, I arrive at 3:15 for a 3 o'clock makeover. I was at the drybar 2 blocks over and that ran late, but I figured grace period right? Wrong, apparently. By the time I asked someone and they got a manager of some sort i'm assuming cause she was in all black, she gave me a run down on how i'm late their grace period is 15 minutes and "it is now 3:17." she asked me to stand by the makeup station while she got someone "if" she possibly could and that it'll have to be a mini instead of a full makeover because of my lateness. Right. So i'm already here and might as well get whatever is offered to me. Someone walks in for their 3:30 at 3:25, i'm still standing by the station in everyone's way cause it's not spacious at all. She's invited to take a seat while she waits. No, no, no. I always order Sephora online, but since this store was in Brooklyn and it was the VIB 15% off event, I decided to go. It was so crowded on a Thursday lunch time. There was only 2 cashiers and the line was very long. There was so many people that I decided to grab the new Clinique age super defense combination skin moisturizer. Since I shop at many other Sephora store, it's a habit for me to grab the new box product that has the "sample" product sitting on the top. It was my mistake for not checking. The second I paid, I looking at the box and notified one of the sales associates on the floor, which are hard to flag now. She told me, "Too bad". Are you serious? The most unhelpful sephora i have been to. The artists here are not interested in guiding you. Note: Im a vib rouge, shopped at multiple sephora stores so i can tell when service is horrible. I stopped three different people for help: first one pranced away saying no, didnt even bother to stop walking. Another said she will be right back, never came back. After i decided on my colors myself, i couldnt find the foundation color i wanted on the rack. I stopped a third person for help, she told me to keep looking. What?! That was a 30 min ordeal. Stopped by to pick up cleanser and just wanted to compliment how poised and professional the staff was when dealing with a hostile customer during a return. I was waiting in line watching this person be incredibly abusive to a staff member (I assume she's a supervisor, she carried herself like one. I think her name was Madeline, I didn't get a good enough look at her name tag) with a full line of people waiting to check out. She never lost her temper or became short with the customer. Sometimes I have to run errands, and sometimes I don't want to go into Manhattan to do it. Having a Sephora in BK is fantastic! While this isn't my favorite Sephora* it's nice that I can pop down to Borough Hall/Court Street/Fulton Street and get a few things taken care of. If you haven't been down to the BK Sephora - here's a short list of the good & the not so good: + The staff. Super friendly and full of advise. I went in recently to kill some time and had three different staffers approach me and ask me if I needed assistance. + The location. Easy to get to, whether you're on the 2/3/4/5/F/A/C/R trains. + The products. Like all the other stores - this one has pretty much all of the brands you need/want. - The layout. Ugh, navigating this store is terrible. The front is jam packed with makeup while there is enough space in the back to do cartwheels.** The tight quarters make it really hard to move around and sample products without getting hit by another customer trying to pass. ----------------- *Much love to the SoHo Sephora - favorite location in the city. **I would only do a cartwheel if the staff told me it was ok. read more

I don't know if these employees work on commission or if the 10-15 dollars an hour they earn is enough to justify their snobby attitudes but it must account for something. I aimlessly walked around the store for about 15 minutes waiting for someone who wanted to do their job and I had hope that I would find someone. Instead I found dirty overused samples and associates who wouldn't even look at me twice. I've had better service at Sephora in Times Square where I would expect them to be a lot less attentive than I did at this location. Sorry Sephora you missed out on a big purchase today! My least favorite but most convenient location of all the Sephora's in NYC. Do you see my dilemma? This place is literally walking distance to my house but I hate coming here. There's literally no one on the floor. You literally have to search the store for someone who isn't already dealing with another customer. Another thing that truly grinds my gears. Don't advertise services that you can't provide. I stopped by here more than once to try the mini facials and the "director in charge" always says "at this time we don't have anybody certified to do the facials". Then why does the sign say that you do? Employees are not really welcoming except for about 3. (Yes, I've been counting). I scheduled an appointment for a 60 minute (9AM-10AM) makeup for my city hall wedding. I was 2 minutes late and the manager only allowed the makeup artist to do a mini makeup. It took her less than 20 minutes to do my skin (foundation and concealer). I asked if she could help me with until her next appointment was there, or until 10am, but the manager did not allow her to do that So after she finished the makeup I was looking to buy all he supplies I needed to finish the makeup, but all the makeup artists and sales persons were afraid of the manager and did not help me finding and purchasing the makeup. At one point, the girl that did my foundation felt sad for me and helped me. I told her I didn't want to get in trouble, but she was the sweetest person ever and made my day. I tried to purchase some stuff after, but no one helped. I was really disappointed with Sephora, but I noticed that only the manager was the problem and I wish that in the future Sephora could promote the people that know how to treat customers, be flexible and help in emergencies, especially when you are there to sell and the store is empty. read more

What terrible customer service they have at this location. I bought some Philip Thomas Roth eye masks here at the 50 Fulton store back around Christmas time and never thought for a second that they would "expire". I understand now that this makes sense, but there is not clear marking on the package, and this is something I never considered before. So of course, I wasn't going anywhere and didn't really use the masks over the whole covid19 shut down period and still had plenty left. Well, to my horror, they made me break out in severe dermatitis around my eyes. I thought sephora should offer me a store credit given the fact that there are no dates or clear markings on the package - and the associate I consulted with before making the purchase never once mentioned they would expire and that using them past the 6 month expiration could cause severe dermatitis. I called the 1800 number and the nice lady on the phone offered me 200 points but said I should go to the location for store credit - that they would be able to help me better. Instead of being kind, the associate manning the front of the store was not only unkind; not only did she decline to give me any consideration for a store credit, but she also suggested I should know (because it's common industry knowledge) that eye masks expire. The only help she offered was to sell me products that MIGHT help with the rash... she offered me medical advice because Sephora apparently now has dermatologists? Why would I trust a sephora salesperson to help me with a situation that merits seeing a dermatologist? This girl didnt even show compassion for my rash, forget about the fact that she was willing to direct me to someone who might try to sell me something that would probably just exacerbate the rash. The thing is that this location is already mostly unpleasant. The dont have the same cheerful disposition other sephora locations have. The line is ALWAYS out of control, even when the store is slow. A lot of the staff normally seem preoccupied with gossiping about one another and their customers, and complaining about the store. Sure, there are a couple of nice associates here, and the security guard is a doll, but the overall feeling one where maybe a few bad apples have spoiled the bunch. I wont be going back to this location ever again, and I may just purchase things elsewhere altogether. All I know is that store sephora associates have no business prescribing cures for rashes around your eyes. It's ridiculous that this was their solution to my dilemma. read more

Let me start off by saying I LOVE Sephora, as a whole & It gives me so much life because Makeup is one of the things in life that makes me super duper happy. BUT this location doesn't..... Beware. If you are coming here and don't know your skin tone, or exactly what you need I'd suggest you go to the other locations in the city. Lets be real here. The makeup consultants who work here have NO idea on what they're doing. Every time I come here looking for a perfect color match they offer me wrong shades of foundations,concealers, etc. I end up having to come back to the store, (waste time) JUST to find a correct shade MYSELF. This isn't the greatest Sephora I've been too and I've been to a bunch of them. I have a couple of reasons for it I came with a friend and she asked for help with the foundation and one of the girls that helped her was extremely rude. She told my friend she "had some dry as skin" and does she put any cream on her face. There are other ways to go about saying her skin is dry. It also took us a while to get help and that was the help we got. Another thing is almost everything I went in for they were out of and I even had them check in the draws and it was all out. I've come here twice and it has happened both times. I understand things run out but they just have so much out of stocks. I wouldn't come here again. This is absolutely the worst Sephora. The workers are not "happy to be here" especially in the fragrance department. Traveling around the country I see the difference with all the stores. This one is definitely on the bottom of the totem pole. They always claim the mobile payment devices aren't working. Then randomly they come to the line to ask if you are paying with a card but select certain people to pull off the line. When you say fragrances can only be done at the register and I've purchased them with the little iPhone at other locations you look suspect. I feel there might be forms of discrimination lurking but that's a discussion for another day. Also, there is a gentleman who should definitely be removed from the fragrance department. (Won't say his name but synonyms for opulent come to mind) Not sure how he's survived working there for so long but let's just say if you are not a potential Friday night conquest, he's not interested in paying you any attention. On another note the nicest people are the cashiers and they offer everything they should and always ask if you need any additional help. Cashier must be a promotional step up from floor assistant. One star for existing in Brooklyn and a second star because most times they have stock...if you can get someone to genuinely assist. read more

Ok I love Sephora because I love trying out beauty products. I'm always happy whenever I go to Sephora. I'm a VIB Rouge member. The people who work there are friendly, and they know their products and their return policy is amazing. I've never left unsatisfied when I go to Sephora. Now let me tell you all these good things only apply to the Sephora in Manhattan. The one is Brooklyn is so so so bad. Granted it gets busy when they are so uncoordinated. I've been so busy for over a month that I couldn't go to any of the Sephora in Manhattan so I decided to visit the Sephora here in Brooklyn. I needed to try out a concealer and had to find my right shade. I came here 4 different times, FOUR! No-one was willing to help me. The women who work here decided not to pay attention to me. So I had to leave disappointed. The last time I went was on a Saturday (March 16th) at around 4pm. I asked one the Sephora women if there was any one who could help me. She was so rude to me, she said "I'm busy go ask someone else". All I asked her was if she knows if anyone can help me, I didn't ask her to assist me. Usually in the city, if I ask a Sephora assistant for some assistance they help me or tell me to wait for a few minutes or they find another person to help me. Thats how it has worked for as many years as I know. Anyway, after a while I got hold of another rep to help me and she told me she's helping another client and will come back to me once she's done. I waited 45 min she never came back to me, I went to see her and she ended up helping another person. I had to wait in the perfume spot for so long so that she'll come back she never did. I really felt so disappointed. Im never coming back to this store. NEVER! I just have to go the Sephora in Manhattan or I may start going to the company brand stores where the people are nicer and pay more attention to you. read more

I went here looking for some guidance on wedding makeup. After a frustrating experience at Sephora in Philly, the Brooklyn location changed my perception of the company. I think this is mostly owed to Maria, who was really helpful and patient. I had asked for bright and natural makeup in Philly, and got more of a dark and brown tone look. The stylist was irritated when I didn't love it. But, Maria listened to my concern and helped me to pick out what I was actually looking for - she showed me how to apply and was patient despite a number of customers needing help. Pros: location near subway. Excellent customer service. Not too busy midday on a Tuesday. Sephora brand option available for cheaper for many of the products. Cons: the line to check out took longer than expected. When I got home, I saw that one of the eyeshadow packages had a different color inside than what was on the label. I called the location to see if they had what I needed - after being on hold and talking to various people, I was told they didn't have the color. I asked them to check again and they found one in the storage inventory. That portion of the experience was frustrating. read more

I feel like a schoolgirl playing dress up here as I'm powdered, rouged and perfumed by staff who are very made-up and nice to look at. NARS, Clinique, Yves Saint Laurent and SEPHORA brand are just a few of a number of products that will help you transition from ugly duckling into beautiful swan. My favorite make-up artist/sales clerk is Josh. Josh is very patient and pretty and after 36 years, I finally know how to properly apply blush to my cheeks because of him. read more

Sephora is in Brooklyn--and it's about time! Today is the opening day and the store was buzzing with activity. It was quite crowded, but since it's the grand opening that's understandable. For those interested, like all new Sephora stores, there are events scheduled today and tomorrow (Saturday, November 2) to celebrate the opening. If you're the type to participate in Black Friday without fail (no matter what time it is in the morning or how long the line), then you may choose to venture out tomorrow for a free gift certificate (I'll be asleep; there's no better product for dark circles than a good snooze!). I'm excited about this new location; it'll be so convenient now to pick up my must-haves. And with many holiday gift sets too, Sephora's opening is perfectly timed! Went to Sephora on Joralemon to find a Christmas present for my wife. The store was clean and very open. There are a wide range of products and may of them used to achieve similar results, in my case was something to clean out pores and hydrate my wifes skin. I walked around for about 20 minutes looking at all the products and was not exactly sure what to get. The came the Sales Rep Camellini. She asked me if I needed help and I explained my dilemma. She really took her time, asked what my wife was looking for in a product and my price range. She showed my about 4 or five gift sets in different price ranges. In October of 2013, Sephora has opened its first store in Brooklyn! I live in Brooklyn. Man, gentrification is truly hitting us Brooklynites hard. Right on Court and Joralemon streets. I walked into this Sephora I believe in January. I remember on the first day, they were giving out a free item to those who were waiting on line for the store to finally open. All Sephora stores are basically the same. Young teenagers who are finally ready to grow out of their ugly duckling phase by trying on makeup. Young and old women putting on a full face before heading to work or school...perhaps a date. Then you have everyone else, including myself, who wants to try on makeup for the hell of it! I stopped in to buy a new foundation. I tried on the Makeup Forever HD foundation in 173. Fit me to a tee, but I believe that in order to find tour match, you might need to mix two different shades together. Most foundations contain titanium dioxide, which is a mineral used to whiten cosmetics. When I tried the foundation on two years ago at a different Sephora, I hate a glowing white masque on my face! I went to MAC last year and bought their Match master foundation. It's very thick and cakey and when it oxidizes, it darkens your skin tone. Still, I do very much so like MUFE's foundation. My favorite mascara is the Dior extase which costs $28.50. I prefer quality over quantity and I am very willing to pay. My favorite exfoliating scrub is by Clinique. The price rose to $19.50! It works so good BTW. The nail polishes are pretty nice and expensive, from Deborah Lippmann to Illamasqua to Marc Jacobs. Everyone working there is very nice. They make sure to check on you so that you know what you're doing. The lines aren't very long. Once you have a certain number of points, you are able to get a free item (for your birthday also). If you eant a makeover, your purchase has to be over $50. The roaming MUA will help you with individual things such as shaping your brows, contouring, applying highlights or concealers etc. This store receives five stars from me. They're even building Neiman Marcus right next door. read more
