I hate this sephora location!! My first experience was so bad that it took me two years to come back. I popped in a half hour before closing time to get a quick foundation match so I can purchase a new foundation and one of the workers came to me with the nastiest attitude asking me am I buying anything? So I told her yes and before I had a chance to ask if she can do a color match so I can try a new foundation she interrupted me and said "well whatever you are buying you can take it to the front because we close in 15 minutes. I just left because I was gonna slap her at her job. The second time I went was two weeks ago to find my match in the Fenty foundation so that I can buy the correct color. Of course there was noone available out of the five employees that were on the floor and when I finally got someone at the cashier to page someone, she came out and swiped two colors on my face with a cotton swab and told me whichever one looks the best when it dries is your color and if their not then your a 400 which we don't have and she walked off. I was so annoyed that I just left. I will never shop at this sephora location ever again. read more

Now that Sephora is in Brooklyn, I'll really never have to leave the borough on the weekends! I agree that while this location isn't the biggest, it has all the things you would find in any other Sephora. I mainly come in for my monthly re-up purchase of the Stella rollerball scent and it was easy to find my first time here. Since it's new everything is shiny and clean, so shop here quick before that changes! It seemed like there was only one smallish counter for check out, which might lead to long lines during busy times, but I'm sure the store will cross that bridge when they get there. Whether I walk in this location with a face full of make up (contour, highlight and all), or a face without a drop of make up, I'm always greeted and offered help by a staff member. Everyone here seems to love make up and know what they're doing. Their samples are in pretty good shape despite the amount of traffic that comes through this location, and that's a pretty big deal to me. It's always neat as well, and it's decently staffed so that there's someone there to answer your questions. read more

The customer service down to the cashiers are nasty with the exception of two ladies. When I asked a rep about a product, she told me she don't know and to buy it & if I don't like it bring it back. When Elmira approached me she was super friendly and helpful. Ayanna helped me with choosing a shade as well. I went specifically for nail polish and their entire nail bar is gone. Gone. None. As in; NONE! The area is now makeover stations. I was disappointed but kept shopping, because there's always a good sale on, right? Yes, but...the tags are all over the place and not matched up with the item that's actually on sale. Disgusting, horrible customer service. Tried to call an associate and she flat out ignored me & ran the other way. Just had a question about some Murad products, I'm sooo pissed I just didn't order online and use my coupon, I went out of my way to go to a store to get some advice and maybe a sample or two being I'm spending $200! What a turn off, I usually order online or if I'm in NYC stop by sporadically & they're always so nice & helpful & I always get a ton of amazing products. This totally ruined my day! I love Sephora, shop online with them and have been to locations around the country, and as dramatic as it may sound- this one is by far the worst I've seen. It's so hard to get help from an employee, lines are long and slow moving, plus testers are left out far past their prime. Stop in here during off hours if you know exactly what you're getting, otherwise hope on the train and go to another Sephora if you want any advice/help. read more

Best Sephora in NYC. I had a makeover by the "LEAD" makeup artist. Her background might be punjabi or hindi either way she was really great. I left the store with flawless eyebrows thanks to her. The staff all around is very fun and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Highly recommend her read more

The only Sephora in Brooklyn at the moment which is great. I always get help especially when looking for a foundation shade and always willing to help to look for anything else this Sephora does have a huge selection of products. The only two problems I have with the store is that when I first walk in and need help I usually need to wait 5-10 min but it's worth the wait cause they always match me with the right foundation shade. Anything thing Is during there sales like around April most of there popular products are out of stock overall great store read more

HORRIBLE. I just came out of the store and I experienced the worst possible customer service I've ever experienced in any beauty store. I am very long time Sephora customer and I've been buying their products for years. I never usually have issues with them in other stores but I did in this particular location. The woman who was helping me told me with an impatient tone that she couldn't help me look for my lipstick brand because she saw other potential customers who needed help! Why then did you offer to help me?? Also, isn't that your job? If you're already helping somebody, then finish helping that person before you help other people. She was rude and impatient. This location has definitely lost my business. I am never coming here again. I also never face these issues in Ulta or Mac stores. It's just Sephora that's been giving me issues lately. HORRIBLE SERVICE. First of all this is my favorite place in the world as a makeup enthusiast. Was in the area and went in to look for a new highlighter and a new fragrance. I was followed through store while I hear the employee say through her radio that I was "suspicious". I ignore it continue to look through my favorite brands and she asked me if I needed help I said no I'm okay and she proceeded to ask me in Spanish insinuating that I didn't understand her the first time. It was my first time at this location 10 minutes before closing this past weekend. Nonetheless, Alexa spent time helping me find the products I was looking for (they can look up your previous order history which was super cool). She also worked with me to find the perfect bronzer and lip gloss for the summer! My only complaint is the layout of the store has the super pungent perfume section when you walk in, which gives me headaches and makes me not want to walk in. read more

I went to this location yesterday to receive my free birthday gift, upon receiving the gift this location had no miniature bags left. So, the male cashier asked, "would you like a bigger bag?" and I said, "sure." As the item was being placed in the bag, another co-worker interjects and says (in a nasty tone), "just wrap it in tissue paper." Initially, I paid her no mind, until I turned my back to leave and the women gruntled something to the male cashier and he said, "I'm going to tell her you said that." Rather than confront the woman or a manager about the situation (because I did not hear verbatim what the female co-worker had said), I decided to I write a review. *This is my first Yelp review.* Due to this incident, I will not be returning to the Joralemon St. Sephora location. The customer service was not good and in no way should an employee talk about a customer to their face, nor behind their back. As I am a frequent shopper and love traveling to different Sephora's, this is the first location that has propelled me to write a review. This is hands down my least favorite Sephora location. The check out line is always insanely long, there aren't enough cash registers, it's super small and there are sharp corners everywhere making it impossible to navigate the store. Stay away!! read more

Sephora has finally come to Brooklyn! I went to the grand opening and it was a mad house, but yet the staff was pleasant and the customer service did not suffer. The staff here is really helpful without being overbearing. The store is a little smaller than some of the stores in Manhattan but they stock as many products as the bigger stores. read more

I made an appointment to get a makeover and I was very happy with my choice. I was assigned Kerry-Ann who was extremely knowlegable and very professional. My appointment was for 5:45 and I got their a few minutes early. The associates were all busy and buzzing around with various clients. After about a minute of waiting, one asked me if I was being helped, and my wonderful experience started there. Kerry-Ann did a wonderful job applying and explaining the steps she was taking. I always have had trouble with foundation and getting the correct one for my face. Kerry-Ann did the IQ test and I got an amazing foundation that is perfect for me. I ended up purchasing almost everything she applied on my face because I looked fabulous! I tried to replicate the look this morning and I must say that I did a great job and that is because Kerry-Ann took the time to show me exactly what she did. Although her application was better than mine, I am very happy with the results. I am very happy with the Brooklyn location which is perfect and better for me than going into the city! read more

It's the second time I come in here and I get half ass customer service ... this time because the store was closing in 20 mins .. one of the staff members I asked to help me out pick three things and usually , when I go to sephora, I am given ample choices of the 3 items I wanted .. she grabbed 3 products .. and was brushing me away because she's the only one on the floor and we are closing in 20 mins .. so instead of helping me she rushed me and sent me to look for myself .. i completely understand because I work in a place of business that people come in last minute and we employers do want to go home .... but really ...Its not what u do it's how u do it know what I mean ..just feel like to have a better shopping experience overall don't shop no retail in Brooklyn .. becuz if I walk into sephora to shop for 3-5 items that each cost about 30 dollars , I shouldn't have to smell attitude or be rushed off read more

Running low on foundation is never a good thing and I was pretty nervous with staff, only because no one could really nail the right foundation for my skin type. I've encountered one of the best customer service yesterday at this location. Sammie was AMAZING, super insightful and attentive to my needs. Okay, On Saturday May 18th I walked in with my two cousins for out 3PM make up appointments, the occasion was my cousins surprise baby shower. My pregnant cousin arrived first and asked for a bathroom (she is due In a month and VERY pregnant) She was told there wasn't a customer bathroom, by an associate named Ophelia. Once my other cousin and I arrived we sat down at the make up chairs and the make up did not begin until 20 minutes or so later, so our original 3PM appointment began at 3:20 or so. While getting our faces done so I asked for a bathroom and one of our make up artists happily took my pregnant cousin to their bathroom :). Back to the make up, I had one of the worst make up artists. My eyebrows looked horrible ( I tried to fix them but couldn't) he was literally coloring them in like he was using a crayon on a coloring book. it was bad. The end result was bad, I was not happy at all. He did not do what I asked him to do and was really about to let me walk out of there with horrible eyebrows, I actually do a much better job. SO if you're looking to get your make up done DO NO BOOK WITH BRANDON. Actually all of our make up artists were bad, there was one that was the best of 3 but I do not recall her name. She worked on my other cousins face. MAC does a much better job honestly, I have been using them for years but wanted to try something new. I learned my lesson that day. read more

I grew up in a house full of boys and I decided to embrace my femininity by getting some perfume and makeup. Knowing very little about this kind of stuff, I chose Sephora because I thought they'd be able to give me guidance. (Ie. "Help! I don't know what I'm doing!") The last two times I went in there there was a distasteful sales-centric atmosphere. It seems that specific brands have their own salespeople on the floor but fail to identify themselves as such. For instance, I went to check out Acqua di Gio's new women's fragrances and was swiftly steered toward a different brand and ONLY that brand. I then overheard a salesperson mention to another something about something not being her brand so she didn't know the answer to another customer's question. I later went in for my free annual VIB makeover to look for new products. I took care to schedule it on a day that no specific brand was having a store event. By the time I went in, however, a brand was now having an in-store event. Instead of having a specialist pick out the best products for me based off of the massive selection Sephora is esteemed for, I was only offered things from that brand. If I wanted to explore a single company's repertoire, I'd schedule a makeover directly at its cosmetics counter -- the whole reason I go to Sephora is for the vast array of options! Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to have a Sephora in BK, but something seems to have changed for the worse about the Sephora experience. read more
