There have been several near death experiences and several people have died. I developed a vision of floating star shaped candles, white for those who have died and blue for those who have survived their brush w/ death. I searched for these candles in several stores w/o success, although I did find round floating candles in white at Jo~Ann. I found some star shaped candles on Amazon, white ones, blue and red. I held out hope that I could buy the blue ones. When I attempted to buy them I couldn't find a way to specify color on the Amazon site. I asked Customer Service and they referred me to Crafted Candles, the seller. I called their 800 number (1-800-635-0274) and spoke w/ a very helpful, friendly woman. I decided to buy 5 white and 4 blue. They come in 2" and 3" diameter. I chose the larger. They arrived today and look perfect. It's nice to know the vision I had was not confined to my imagination. They have candles in many different shapes. They have no brick and mortar store, just sell online. I recommend them if you need candles that are out of the ordinary. If, like me, you are mistrustful of products made in China, you will be pleased to know that the ones I bought, at least, are American made. They're a little spendy at $2.25 apiece, but I think they were worth it. Their website address is www.craftedcandles.com.

This gem of a store has been so clutch over the years for picking up gifts. Some of the people in my life are, um, a little hard to shop for, but when I come in here, I always come away with something great. It's all so well-curated; some gifts are classy, some funny, and many are versatile. It beats the socks off of going into a big box store in a million ways. Being in a charming stretch of a walkable area adds to its appeal, and the staff is always friendly. They also have Pickwick candles which are some of the best in town. These soy candles will last multiple seasons and almost all of them smell amazing. Cheers to this shop, they're doing it right and have saved my bacon every December since they've opened.

Board books every where. While I went there for a Trapp candle leather/tobacco for my son (which smells like leather and tobacco and is really nice) the amount of board books for children is phenomenal. I could easily spend $100 on board books there. And not just regular board books, but interesting topics like the Kansas City board book I bought. 3. Haha the cluster eff towels, cluster eff pencils, Get the eff to sleep book (which I bought). The unique gifts and trinkets are bountiful and wonderful. I laughed out loud plenty of times, including at the Dog in Chairs gift cards. There's plenty of things to see and buy. Thanks to Adam and the Yelp shop local event, The General Store is a must see. Oh I forgot pictures, sorry.

Their sales are the best, when they have a good sale it's so worth it to check it out. Without a sale the prices are a little higher, but they have enough sales to make up for it. And best of all, if you (or your "giftee") try them for a short time, and you don't love them, you can exchange them! Their newest Valentine-themed/scented products (like Chocolate Covered Cherry or Strawberry Pound Cake) are yummy, and gift packages for men and women are ready for quick pickup! Another plus is BB&BW's always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable employees. Their 3-wicks are my favorites. If you catch one of their frequent $10-off-3-wick sales, OR their once-a-year-$9.95-each sale, and/or get coupons via mail or email, you can't beat their price, the "throw" of their candles (how long the aroma lasts and how far into the area the scent is apparent), or the ever-changing multitude of delightful fragrances and packaging. Their products are also a visual treat, perfectly suited for the fragrance, the seasons, or the holidays. And after using up your 3-wicks, the glass containers and lids can be cleaned up for use as pretty canisters! (You can also remove the labels on many of them with a little help from hot water and Goo Gone!) I'm also a fan of their liquid and foaming hand soaps, moisturizing shower creams, and body lotions and creams, also often offered at special sale prices. They have greatly expanded their men's line with truly pleasant masculine fragrances and strikingly attractive packaging. Start your Valentine's Day shopping here, and you won't need to go any place else!

Once I got to the register I was completely ignored by the cashier who acted as if it was an inconvenience to check out my two items because she was gossiping with another co worker about the people in their neighborhood. I tried to ask several times if I could get two fives in exchange for a 10. Completely ignored that I existed. Just pointed to the pinpad when it was time to pay. The only time she looked at me or said anything to me was giving me my receipt which I then finally got her attention/eye contact and asked for the final time to exchange the bills and she told me that it was too late. Working in retail myself I know she could have easily opened her drawer and exchanged them, completely rude and lazy. Won't be returning to this location. I hope a conversation about customer service is had with this employee. Cashier 340618

My boyfriend had points on his credit card for spending so much money on it. So with the points we got $200 in gift cards so that I could go shopping for hand soaps with it. I was only there for the necessities that I need for the house, and a couple things that I am really wanting I live in Paola and work 6am to 6pm I'm not there to make grief, I'm wanting to get in and out so I can go too bed by 9pm. I go in there I pick everything out, this lady swiped my 4 gift cards 4-5 times each. But, anytime they were swiping the gift cards it was taking the money off the total. They tell me that there machines must be down. I understood that, so they tell me to come back the next day and they were gonna call customer service and figure it out. So I do, I'm waiting behind 2 other customers, the girls at the register had gift cards! They used them no questions, didn't tell them to come back tomorrow. They went through just fine. It's my turn to do the whole checking out my items for the second time. They start swiping away trying to "figure out what's wrong with these specific gift cards." They end up calling customer service again to figure out why it's not working. Now this same lady I had the previous day (she was the one who swiped my card 4-5 times) is telling me that there's no money on these cards and to come back on Friday to go through the same trouble. This lady was pretty much telling me to ask around and make sure they were activated thinking I might've stole them if I'm having this much issues. I confront this lady and tell them, "that's funny, I just came in here yesterday with $200 on these cards ready to purchase my items I chose, I checked them. I come back in and conveniently there's now no money on my cards. Your machine took the money." Of course she's telling me that they'd never do that, questioning me if I was sure that these were activated cards, she ends up calling customer service AGAIN. She ends up telling me to write my email and they're giving me my money back with e-gift cards. Perfect situation, right? You'd be asking yourself why I only gave them 1 star and not 5 because they "took care of the situation" I only got partial money back. They lost 3 loyal customers to this Bath and Body we will not be shopping at this location again. We'll make the effort to drive the extra 10 minutes to get to the Oak Park Mall location. They at least know how to use gift cards, but they did know how because they literally had customers IN FRONT OF ME that used their gift cards without ANY ISSUES. Please take my advice and learn how to look back at transactions so you don't have to call customer service 4 times. Saves ya'll the trouble and hassle. Funny part is, is this lady claimed to be an assistant manager. You'd think somebody in that store would know how to look back at months even years of transactions, just to make sure that the machine didn't take the money. Hope people never have to live through the anxiety and very stressful experience I had to experience with you guys all because no one was willing to look at transactions just to at least make sure somebody is making a mistake in the situation. Might've saved some time.
