I found the food just ok, but I will definitely be visiting again. The truck itself is really cool and you can tell they designed it for this purpose. It is really modern with a TV menu out front and a chip reader on the counter with your own touch screen for payment. The truck is clean and looks great. The truck itself def gets 5 stars for form and function. I had the bison dog, wagyu sliders and the Parmesan tots. The bison dog itself was good but it was covered it too much other stuff. Trying it for the first time I didn't want to alter it but next time I will know to ask to hold back on some of the stuff. The sliders were good but nothing to write home about. Cook well and had a nice sauce but then they had a cheese sauce instead of actual cheese. I thought that was an odd choice. It seemed to cheapen the idea of a wagyu slider with something akin to nacho cheese sauce on top of it. The tots however...damn these were good. No idea if they made these themselves or if they came out of a bag but you couldn't tell either way. They had no frozen or stale taste to them, were fried well and you got plenty of them. They had salt & pepper, cilantro and Parmesan...all in the right amounts. For $2 there is no way I would say no to them...ever. Overall it was an ok experience, but I will definitely be returning as I can certainly see something amazing coming out of this truck.

I am not sure if they have table service on weekends but it won't stop us from going either way. The interior is dark but has a laid back vibe and I did see that they have trivia. I would definitely recommend giving Rebel Taqueria a try!

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat a little later than normal and noticed this group is open until midnight.. How convenient during the weekdays. Our server, Dirk was awesome, guiding us through the menu after realizing this was our first time. I highly recommend trying it this way liked all three loved the chili and the mac & cheese was definitely in my top five. It was the 50% off burger combo night so my dad got that, I went for the half rack rib plate, and let me tell you their half rack was 7 bones of the modt meaty and delicious ribs I've had in a restaurant. The rub was the perfect level of spice, no extra sauce needed, though all 5 on the sauce bar were fantastic. They also have an ayce pickle/pepper bar (watch out, the jalapeños are hot!) The steak fries are some of the best I can remember, the donut mega onion ring was like something from the state fair, and the brisket baked beans were great as well. (Only downside is Pepsi products, but super sweet tea relegated them to the sidelines anyways) Counter service was friendly and proficient with the building crowd as the night went on Highly recommend this BBQ establishment!

I grew up in Charleston SC, lived almost 20 yrs in Kansas City and recently moved from Austin TX,…read morewhich means my BBQ knowledge is fairly extensive. I inevitably get the question "who has the best BBQ?" to which my response is always any state can have great or poor BBQ these days. That leads me to writing a review of Melvin's BBQ in Mount Pleasant. Located in a fairly easy location to access in Mt Pleasant but depending on the time of day traffic can be horrible, Melvin's has an extremely modest exterior. I'll admin I never went inside, but through the drive-thru. The service was fast and the people were nice. I'll start off with the sides. First up, I've been craving REAL onion rings for some time. I've had it with the prefrozen, fast food garbage and wanted the real deal. Melvin's rings are a step above but I admit, they had way too much breading to onion ratio. A lot of mustard Q sauce made me forget that indiscretion. Another item I've been craving for years is hash. Well again I believe it was an average effort. I didn't detect much meat, rather a lot more filler veggies than an assortment of meats. This affects the flavor as texture tricks the mind; an example is spaghetti & macaroni noodles, same ingredients but hits the mouth different. Back to the point, the hash left me craving - hash. That said the rice was really good and if the meat volume was increased this would have been a "winner winner hash dinner." I got the spare ribs and it was above average as I was expecting less resistance when biting down and pulling away. The smoke was on point but if I'm splitting hairs could have used a wee bit more, but I'm being overly lustful. Part of my disappointment is I literally just had BBQ twice in Texas within the last two months and the ribs; spare and babyback. Sorry, Texas rules in BBQ, in this case technique as SC is the Pig Capital. As for the pulled pork sandwich - pure bliss. The pork was moist and flavorful while having the perfect amount of meat piled high on a soft bun. That and I love the Golden BBQ sauce. This sandwich is worth its weight in gold! In summary, I went to another Melvins growing up. Once a month my dad and I would stop in and get a BBQ sandwich and onion rings on the way to the lake. These memories have stuck with me and while the onion rings are a tad off, the sandwich is exactly what I remember which brought a smile to my face. I have a feeling my nitpicking might have caught them on an off day so I'll be hitting the restaurant again. The sandwich and sauce is good enough for the sins of the masses!
