Don't join the wine club - they never let you leave. I really enjoyed this winery when I first joined in 2018. The wine room manager & the wine maker were very good. 2019 they changed both & the wine room manager was very opinionated & bossy. The wine went down hill as well. I was trying to still support local business so I stayed on even though I stopped bringing friends in to try it. I cancelled my wine club in January & am still getting charge every other month. You have to dispute the charges right away as the winery will not refund you. Buyer beware. read more

I get so upset every time this winery pops up. The day that was supposed to be magical to me turned into a very upsetting experience. My wedding!!! From the event manager yelling at me in front of the guests and threatening to close the event because the music was not of her liking, to where the lights on the patio not working and worst, closing the rest room because she said it wasn't working. The guest had to walk in the dark to the main tasting room to use the bathroom and then she shutting down the music at 9pm. The worst part, we file a complaint with the winery and they never got back to us with at least an apology. My guests and I felt racially targeted by the manager. Horrible experience, I want to cry every time I think about it! Even my wedding coordinator and catering personnel kept apologizing for them. read more

We had our Son's Wedding Rehearsal party at Cielo Winery and were pleased with it all. Sean and Steve were very helpful and professional and our guests loved the locale and scenery. The winery set up tables in the bar area, allowed up to decorate the whole room, and we had the run of the place. We had a good variety of wine that offered something for everyone. It was a very relaxed atmosphere which is exactly what we all needed the day before the Wedding. Would not hesitate to hold a function there again. read more

Update!!! Thursday, January 17, 2024 my sister in law was in town so I gathered a few friends and we were going to meet at Cielo for wine tasting. We checked google and the website, both said they were open Thursday through Sunday 11:am til 5:00 pm. I also had received an email stating they were having a "happy hour and trivia" from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. We drove up to Cielo from Sacramento, we were to meet Cathi, my S-I-L there because she was staying with her kids in El Dorado Hills. We pulled up to the gate at 11:30 am and the gate was closed, so I called their phone. On the answering machine message the voice said they are open Friday through Sunday. I called Cathi immediately so she didn't drive all the way there. As it turned out they were almost there but turned around to go back to El Dorado Hills. We decided to go to a restaurant and have lunch. We had a great time anyway, that worked out but cost all 5 of us about $40 each! Since Cielo sent an email about having a "happy hour" that day, I started calling their number to see if they were going to be open at 3:00. I started calling at 2:30, I called at 2:45, 3:00 and 3:15! NOBODY ANSWERED! Before we headed back towards Sacramento, I asked my friends if they would mind if I drive back to Cielo because I was curious if they were open. Sure enough the were open, but only one car in the parking lot. We walked in and I asked the older grey haired lady and the young man standing behind the counter if they knew their website states that they are open Thursday through Sunday. They said they just found that out from the couple that had just left. We were the only customers their so I asked "since your website has the wrong information and we drove all the way up here can we get our wine tastings we get with out membership? They said No, today is only open for the happy hour. I asked "what is happy hour"? They answered " you can buy a glass of wine for $7. I replied with, "I would like to cancel my membership please." They said "Ok". And went to their screen to cancel my membership! NO, "I am so sorry you drove up here for nothing, I'm sorry our website misled you, NOTHING! We were all blown away by such poor customer service. I have a feeling the winery will not last long unless somebody doesn't correct their errors! My daughter is director of operations for the Minden Mill in Minden Nevada, that would never happen in her business!!! read more

Came here to check it out as a wedding venue and ended up becoming wine club members that day! The hospitality and service was amazing, not to mention the wine too! The tasting was 10$ and we got to try 10 wines that day. All of them were pretty good. Nancy was helping us that day and she was so pleasant and great at explaining the various characteristics of the different wines. I had the most BEAUTIFUL wedding ceremony here!! The staff at Cielo Estate is amazing to work with. I had a DIY budget wedding, and never in a million years did I think I could have my wedding at such a beautiful location. Rami worked with me and we were able to make the ceremony fit in my price range! The week before my wedding, rain was covering the forecast. I though for sure that we were going to have to move my ceremony indoors. Dave and I messaged/called back and forth creating a back-up plan for my wedding. It got to the point where my back-up plan sounded just as beautiful as my outdoor plan - I wasn't saddened by the thought of rain at all! It didn't end up raining, so we got to have our beautiful ceremony outdoors. Dave even saved the leftover flower arrangements from the wedding the day before us in their large refrigerator, and gifted them to us! We would have paid hundreds of dollars for arrangements like those. Not many occasions where your vendor will go out of their way to think about your special day and save/gift things to you. The extra greenery made my ceremony that much more stunning. They also let me use their GORGEOUS bridal suite for a few hours before the wedding, even though it wasn't in our original agreement. They honestly just wanted us to have an amazing day. You could tell they aren't money-driven. They just love what they do. All-in-all, I can't recommend enough. Rami and Dave made my special day more than I ever imagined, and Cielo Estate Winery is stunning. read more

I don't understand how people drink the trash wine from this place. You are doing good if you can find a variety that isn't offensive with tannins and bad aftertaste. You can buy $5 bottles from Grocery Outlet all day long that are equal or better to this poor quality wine. Don't believe wine ratings anymore, high scores here still = trash. read more

I've been to Cielo for a wedding and a few parties. Really beautiful area, picturesque with a nice lake in the back. The staff goes above and beyond to make the events special. I am not a huge wine fan but their wines are smooth. I would definitely recommend a visit to check out their facilities if you have a special event coming up. read more

I was there for a music event where the NOBS band was playing. They're a good cover band but the venue charged $15 for entry which I thought was on the high side. It was more of a free event or a small charge like $5 would be more appropriate. Cielo Estate is a fabulous wedding venue. My wedding day was perfect. We did, however, face challenges with the management and some fundamental problems during our wedding planning & the weekend of. We rented the Villa for Friday-Sunday, hosted our rehearsal dinner there Friday, and had people stay there from the wedding party both nights. The Villa is a stunning place and was extremely convenient for getting ready and for rehearsal. However, the large refrigerator stopped working on Friday and we had to remove items and use coolers with ice to keep all the drinks and left-over food for 40 guests cold. Instead of sending help, management said "it had been working fine, keep the door closed," over text with my mom. Obviously, we kept the door closed. While the fridge began to smell like something died inside, my maid of honor sat in an outdoor chair near the BBQ grill & found that it was damp and smelled like urine, forcing her to have to change clothes. The spa never got to the appropriate temperature, but we just gave up complaining at that point. If the Villa was well-maintained, it would have truly been a magical place to stay. On the day of the wedding, the girls moved from the Villa to the farmhouse next to the gazebo to change into dresses and I really regret this decision. The farmhouse was "renovated," or so we were told, however, had more problems than perks. It was hot and muggy when we entered, and the air never got down to the temp we hoped for, which resulted in a sweaty bride. The downstairs toilet was broken and left with brown water. The house was available to rent out to guests, and I am so glad we didn't choose that route. It seemed that from the first tour we got months prior, a lot had gone downhill with the farmhouse. It's understandable that the 2021 wedding season was extremely busy & the past year has been tough on most vendors in general, but that doesn't excuse the unfriendly & unprofessional impression Michelle left on us. If you decide to go with Cielo as your wedding venue, just be aware of the lack of communication with staff, and make sure your vendors are assertive & flexible! The location, gazebo, event hall & deck were perfect for us, and the wine is good. read more

Discovered this winery by going to a wine event at the El Dorado Hills town center. The tent was quite popular that day and after a few pours it was apparent a visit to the actual winery would be necessary. While my senses can appreciate the bold complexity of a nice red, my stomach chooses otherwise, which has led me to appreciate the soft acidity and vibrant fruity notes of a crisp white. Cielo Estate has a wonderful white wine selection as well as red, and even the sparkling options are quite tasty. The grounds are tranquil and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a bottle outdoors. It is a beautiful home and setting. We hosted the bridal party at the Villa for my son's wedding in late June 2021. I originally planned for the bride and groom to use the cottage, but it is a complete dump. It was a hot weekend and the A/C was not working in the cottage so no one could sleep there Friday night. Saturday night my husband and I were forced to sleep there due to space and it was horrible. The mattress should have been retired 10 years ago. It was straight out of a scary movie. We, like Sarah T., experienced less than great customer service from the villa contact. The owner did eventually come out because it was approaching 100 degrees. All it needs is some overdue maintenance and some upgrades to the cottage and it will be perfect. The wedding was not onsite so we did not use the winery side of the property. read more

This winery has changed hands a few times over the past years. The tasting room overlooks the surrounding vineyards. They offer a wide range of whites and reds. The white stand outs were the 09 Marsanne and Sparkling. The red stand outs were the 09 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 07 Syrah and 08 Reserve Zinfandel. There is an event center and ample picnic grounds onsite as well. The new folks are very friendly and unpretentious. I bet with time their wines will only get better! read more

Today would have been my wedding day at Cielo Estates winery. But it isn't. The first time I set foot on this property I knew it was the one I wanted to marry my future husband at. I only fell more and more in love each time I visited. From the stunning vineyard to the delicious wines, the beautiful reception hall and patio, the echo of the cellar cave the sweet soft touches of the Victorian home of the bridal suite I was in love. The staff was so warm, kind and inviting every step of the way. I came back to sign a date not knowing what the next year would hold for me. June 21st was the date we chose. It hadn't crossed our minds that the date was the 3rd Sunday of June, Fathers day, until we had already booked our date. When we did finally realize what we had done I had embraced it. It was fate. After all, I was born on fathers day and a true daddy's girl at heart. Unfortunately, on November 14th last year my happiness ended. My father lost his battle with 3 failing organs and he left this world behind. I was distraught, scared and grief stricken. My wedding day which had held so much joy and promise was now a reminder that my father was gone and I couldn't bear it. Two days after he passed I received a phone call from Wendell telling me that the winery had changed ownership. I knew I wouldn't be able to go through with the wedding any longer and I told him what had happened. Later that week my fiance and I made an appointment to speak with the new wedding coordinator. A month after that we received a check in the mail for our full deposit, even though we had signed a contract when we had booked the date that said it was non refundable. I didn't expect anything back. I didn't expect the kindness I was granted and I didn't expect something beautiful to come out of something so sad. But it did. So to the kind owners and staff at the vineyard thank you from the bottom of my heart. Although this date holds a tragic reminder for me of the death of a man I loved so dearly it also holds hope and faith and love. Cielo Estates truly is heaven. From the Angels that work there, the ethereal grounds and the spirit of love that you feel immediately upon arrival, this is a wonderful place. Whatever your need is, spend your day here, say your vows under the expanse of the old tree in the meadow, hold your event in the stunning reception hall, bathe in the sunset that falls so warmly over this sweet venue. Went today for our first visit. Such a beautiful day and such a beautiful visit! We were greeted by Tom who was hospitable and welcoming. Fun to chat with as we tasted the delicious wines. He gave us a "walking pour" and sent us on our way to check out the old house and wedding facilities. We had been to the winery when it was Sogno and had never been directed to the old house or gazebo for that matter. It is so very nice! I wish I could get married there but already did that elsewhere... anyway, we bought a glass of wine and took in the gorgeous views of the winery estate. Perfect! We had our wedding at Cielo Estate winery a few weeks ago. We were very very disappointed in the conduct of the event manager with all of us. We were hounded from the moment we arrived. Don't do this don't do that. Michelle the manager was very rude to our guests, the DJ, our wedding coordinator and us. Everything we did was not to her liking from the music we had to the volume of the music. The lights at patio where we were dancing were out, The bathrooms were closed because they stopped working forcing my elderly guests to have to walk over 200 feet to the upper tasting room bathrooms in the dark. I do not recommend this place at all. I feel we were badgered because we are Latino. Many of our guests complained to us that the manager was very rude to them and made them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am very upset at the way we were treated. read more

Friendly, casual - the lady serving us was weird and crazy - but in a good way! Felt welcome and the tasting was free. A good selection of wines, some AWESOME dessert wines (it was hard to resist not buying, but I will be back when I'm not broke!) Our daughter was married at Cielo Estate Winery this last Saturday. During our very first meeting with Rami (one of the owners) I knew we had a great find! After months of gorgeous weather, we were handed the first winter storm of the season. This turned out to be a blessing. We moved the ceremony from the beautiful gazebo area to the estates wine cave, it was beyond amazing! Our wedding coordinator transformed that wine cave into the most beautiful, memorable ceremony site ever!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about all that Rami and Philip did for us. Because of the rain, we completely changed our plan for everything. We were always met with full cooperation from Cielo! We utilized most of what the Cielo property has to offer. The girls in the wedding party all got dressed in the beautiful Victorian house. Our guests started in the tasting room and took their choice of wine down to the cave to enjoy during the ceremony. We moved the dancing and the photo booth into the event center after dinner. (Did I mention it was raining!) The event center was plenty big enough to handle our many guests. I went to a private party at Cielo Estate Winery last night, in the wine tasting room. Not only was Wendell and the staff terrific hosts, and everyone enjoyed the no-host wine tasting, but they also catered the appetizers for us. I am vegetarian, and so we asked for some veg food. WOW! The salad was crisp and fresh, and was not just lettuce - there were lots of wonderful fresh chopped veggies in there including asparagus, fresh mushroom, carrot, etc. The raspberry dressing was divine! There was a delicious and nicely presented melon salad, and cheese cubes. For the hot foods, there was food for carnivores there (which they all enjoyed) - but also - veg enchiladas. And not cheese enchiladas, but a gourmet veggie filling. Wendell told me that one of the chefs is veg, and so really understands veg food! We also used this venue for a "hoedown" western-theme party in the event center. It was wonderful as well! We ordered bbq hamburgers (and veg burgers) and hot dogs, green salad, and potato salad. Again, wonderful service and food. Lovely room with a lovely bar area, and deck. We had wonderful food and service both times, great wine, great rooms, great view. They even have a cave/cellar room for a smaller event, and they have a gazebo for weddings. I highly recommend them, and I am in the destination wedding business (concierge/planning, flowers, officiant) and will be recommending them to my clients. read more

We went here on a Friday night for the dinner/drinks/dancing/music. Our group ended up drinking 2 bottles of their Zinfandel, which was pretty yummy. They host weddings on the wedding grounds which looks like they would be absolutely gorgeous. I would like to go back at some point to do a proper tasting. Our whole group would recommend bringing food instead of purchasing and a couple folding chairs, but other than that, the idea is great and they pull it off pretty well, it's a beautiful setting! We went here for Mother's Day and they were very short staff and told us they were not doing wine tasting. From the moment we walked in Ronella was very rude. We were understanding bought our wine and took it outside. We went back in the main winery and seen that there were people wine tasting so we asked if we could wine taste. Again every time we spoke to Ronella she was rude and disrespectful. I'm a 52 year old female veteran and have experienced many people in my life time but never someone so rude especially at a winery. There was about 12 of us and a couple of us wanted to join the wine club but after the way we were treated by Ronella we decided not to and will never visit this winery again. I could only take so much of her behavior and told Ronella Infront of the staff that she was the rudest person I have ever came across. Completely unacceptable. This winery needs to educate their staff on customer service. read more

Love this place. I am "persnickity" about my wine & food. Their Syrah 2015 was big & bold, beautiful with your choice of red meat. The Sangiovese 2014 was showing nice earthy flavors with good acids & the Vermentino was very mineraly with cleansing acidity. A beautiful place to visit. Be sure to check out the cooler with a great cheese selection. The Peach Sparkling wine was a delight! Keep up the great work at this vineyard, looking forward to more! Wow! read more

We rented the event center for a wedding reception and it was perfect. Everyone we encountered from the owner to the wait staff, were friendly, and courteous. We hired the wait staff through Cielo, and they were a great help. They were courteous, attentive, and wonderful to work with. Our situation was that we needed a place that could accommodate 85 people, and it had to be affordable. The event center met those requirements, plus it was clean, and the surrounding grounds provided some great pictures. Don't misunderstand, the event center probably won't compete with a hall at a 5 star hotel, but it exceeded our expectations for our budget. And did I mention we were able to afford to hire the wait staff! Finally, everybody from the bride and groom, to our guests loved the place. No we just need to go back to do some serious wine tasting! read more
