If you are a fan of lights, you would love this experience. No matter where you stand to take pictures, you get a lovely view of colorful lights. This is definitely Instagram-worthy as you walk through the field of bright colors. They also have bottles of light towers that change colors. Flash isn't allowed so you might want to go before sunset if you want a picture with the lights. We purchased our tickets online in advance, parking was easy, and if you get hungry, you can buy food here. They have food trucks, tables, chairs, and fireplaces to sit in front of at the front before you enter the field of lights. There is a VIP section for eating, drinking, and sitting, but you have to pay extra. Honestly, we were very happy with the general admission. We came mid-March and had a great experience. We had no problem finding parking. And there was no line for the Security check. Can't take outside food and open water bottles inside. We went on a weekend. Just purchased general admission online but they do have VIP which has their own sitting area and wine tasting. They have food trucks, outdoor games and live music. Outside sitting area has the fire pits to watch the live music. Bring a sweater does get a like chilly outside. It's a field of lights. We watched the sunset and slowly the lights bulbs lit up. When I took my parents for the first time we loved every bit of our minute we spent here. It was a done deal when my in laws were visiting. We drive 3.5 hrs one way. We were told tourists have been visiting from all over the world. A hardly known town surrounded by acres and acres or farms and fields is now a world famous tourist attraction. Lovely art installation by Bruce Monroe is as theName suggests powerful experience to your senses. Our latest visit began with nature's own show of colors in the twilight. It was one of topmost beautiful sunsets I have seen. The clouds added all dramatic effects. The 58000 lights as started brightening up and hills soaked in splashes of colors it lit up our eyes too. The money:- we paid $375 for four for VIP EXPERIENCE. that includes 4 spotless fully equipped restrooms. Free drinks per ticket (one pp) in a silver van. Plus beautiful setting with heaters/ fireplaces at the top of the hill. If you opt to stay back and just enjoy the whole display from afar you can do it while enjoying your drinks and dinner. All other food trucks are accessible to both vip and non vip with same prices. They have live show outside and lot of seating area too. Huge parking lot is there so don't worry about parking. Depending upon time of the year they start letting you in an hour before sunset. Separate entry for VIP IS THERE. they check your purses and outside food or beverages are absolutely prohibited. No drones allowed as well. You can only carry sealed water bottles. It's a five minute walk inside. Actual installation is a walkable loop and wheelchair accessible. There is also amazing display at the mid of the loop made of wine bottles. Overall it is really surreal. You can be prepared to spend couple of hours. Food - we had fish and chicken tacos. They came with chips and salsa. Fish was swai. Definitely fish tacos were far better. For one free drink we tried everything they had. Red blend, Chardonnay and Firestone beer. All are pretty good. FYI. NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY! I would definitely add it in my to do list if you have foggy sea shores in summer or rainy winters. You can come here throughout the year. Field of lights, literally. I didn't think I'd have so much fun here. They have some live music, food trucks and a decent bathroom set up! For a pop up this place feels pretty permanent. I've seen the ads and IG posts for this place for awhile and just thought meh, lights..how exciting can it be? I was wrong, I came to Paso for a girl's weekend and we got this in on the last day of our trip, it was a cold windy night but we had a blast! The little offerings at the food trucks are worth checking out, we liked the pretzel fries and I'd skip the beignets. Grab some hot tea or cocoa, cause it gets chilly! Grab a down jacket, beanie, scarf and maybe gloves no joke it gets cold and windy! We came here in April. The amount of effort put into setting up the lights is incredible. Just that alone should make you wanna come see what this place is all about. It's very romantic and peaceful. Kind of imagine yourself being in a different universe for a second, magical little time. We made a trip down to SLO a couple weeks back, and Sensorio was definitely on our list of things to do while in the general area. I legit thought it was called field of lights, but Sensorio, that sounds way cooler. The ticket per adult will run you about $46. Is it worth it? Guess it depends on how much you enjoy being in a field of lights. Personally, I really enjoyed the experience here. I've seen pictures on the gram and always thought, 'damn, that looks cool'. After seeing it in-person, I learned quickly that pictures can't capture the magic of walking through the hills and pathways. Definitely bring warm clothing! As the night gets later, it starts to get windy and really cold. Comfortable walking shoes is highly recommended. Some people in our group wore flats, and they ended up with dirty feet by the end of it. The paths are dark, so be cognizant of where you are walking and the other people around you. The later you go in the night, the less people there are and quiet it is. How long it takes you to walkthrough the entire area is really dependent on yourself. We spent an hour and half walking around and soaking it all in. Once you get in, and you turn around and look at the depth and how many lights there are, it's surreal. Add a full moon to the equation, and it's magical. Parking was free, and they have a giant gathering area with fire pits, and lounge seating. We came on a Saturday and they had a reggae band playing, it it really elevated the vibe. Outside beer/wine/alcohol isn't allowed, but they do sell it on-site. Along with food trucks and other food bite options to keep you hanging out. If you plan on visiting the area, definitely hop on their website and buy tickets in advance because they do sell out. I have been to Sensorio 5 times over the years and only paid twice. The first time was the first year it opened it was closer to 30 dollars and well worth it. Now it's 70 and while they have added some nice touches, the rudeness and inconsistence messaging of the security staff was really uncalled for and ruined the whole experience. Who tells a 3 year old to put away their lantern? Seriously, if that's really a rule the security who let us in should have said something but they didn't. Ironically Visit California has an add for Sensorio featuring a toddler with a lantern and if it's really a problem maybe talk to the adults? Then they continued to tell us we couldn't spin the spinning art pieces. Which can spin for a reason. So the cost plus the harassment of the staff really ruined it for us. Don't take your children you will be harassed and treated like second class citizens. Update: the manager responded to my email and is trying to make things right. Apparently they were going through some staffing changes. Will update review if and when we go back. read more

I had a great time here. Friends took us to this, and we arrived at dark. The path is pretty long, so wear comfy shoes. We had the 70 dollar tickets- so no bougie upper deck for us- but the walk was plenty exciting. The field of lights- which we hit first- was just lovely. The light towers and the fishing thing I found less interesting. But the last installation, with some moving light sculptures, was great- my favorite. Also loved the firepits that were available and the bathrooms were really nice. And THANK YOU for having peanut butter stout! I love a good dark beer. As someone who made a visit back in 2019, I have some updates on my most recent visit: * Dress warmly and wear comfortable and closed toe shoes. You will be doing some walking and will be on dirt hills. * Arrive earlier if you want to get some beautiful sunset pictures. * If you want to expedite the entry process, buy the VIP tickets. The VIP tickets gives you access to a fire-pit and viewing terrace. You also have access to clean and convenient restrooms as opposed to using the public port-a potties. If you do purchase VIP tickets, just note that the fire pits with the best views are right in the front. In order to get great seating near a fire pit, you should arrive on time (or a little before) and head straight back to the VIP section. Depending on which VIP tickets you purchase, you are also presented with a free drink coupon and a charcuterie box. Personally, I would skip out on the charcuterie box option. The quality is on par with a cheese box you would receive on an airplane. * Walk the grounds earlier rather than later. Once the exhibition area gets full, you are stuck behind several oblivious people who have no regard for blocking the pathways. Many of those people only concentrate on getting a picture perfect shot. They will not care if you want to get by to walk onwards or if their stroller is in your way. This left me feeling annoyed and took away from my viewing experience. While social media has the ability to liberate and foster art to a certain extent, it also raises questions on whether certain people truly appreciate the creation and design of the exhibition. It's a shame because Bruce Munro's stunning exhibition is truly a sight to see, but some people are too busy taking and tagging 500 pictures to appreciate the art in its own form. It is definitely something to see while you are in Paso Robles, but I wouldn't make the drive from Orange County specifically for the exhibition. read more

Sensorio is located in paso robles which is known for its fine wine. There were 3 main light areas, the biggest and best one being the main field that you first come upon as you enter the fields... We took about 1.5 hour - 2 hours strolling around, really taking in the view. It was a chilly evening (as to be expected) so dress warm. The food area was disappointing since there was only one food vendor outside (taco/burrito truck but it was good). They also had a live performer and the outside area was fire-lit... they had an indoor bar and seating areas available with a fireplace. Customer service is great all around. If you like Lightscape, Enchanted, Carved, etc. then for sure you'll enjoy this place. It's really lovely here, a whimsical experience... great for couples, families, dates, etc. Good to experience at least once but I probably won't return just because it is quite the drive and it was a bit smaller than I had hoped... but overall wonderful experience... and since you're in wine country, I'd recommend to stop at some of the wineries around the area before you head here... it'll keep you warm as you walk around to enjoy the lights. I just realized that I never finished my review for Sensorio so this is LONG overdue. My daughter and I try to make a girls weekend in Paso at least twice a year and although day drinking at the wineries is fun, we also like to add something different to the agenda when we can. Last year (or maybe it was the year prior) I splurged and bough tickets to Sensorio and it didn't disappoint. Parking is easy, entry is quick and the sunset was spectacular. What I would have liked to see was more food options but we made due. The real show stopper of course is the lights. An absolute smorgasbord of visual eye candy. It's hard to explain how simple lights in random colors can be so jaw dropping beautiful but trust me, it is!! We LOVED it and would highly recommend it to everyone of any age. It's just stunning. Takeaway's - Kinda pricey - would love more food & beverage options - other things to do besides walking the light exhibit - take your time and soak it in - take lots of pictures to show your friends and family to entice them to come visit!! read more

1/14/2022 Our first mini roadtrip of 2022 brought us to Sensorio for MLK weekend. We tried buying tickets online a couple days ago but it was only selling children tickets. I read through a few reviews and online that they do accept walk-ins to buy tickets but keep in mind the ticket booth opens at 6pm. Adult tickets are $47/ea and kids under 12 are $25/ea. assume if you're over 13, you're paying that higher price. They check bags and you walk through a metal detector. They advise no flash photography, no selfie sticks. I was enjoying the moment, sensorio creativeness and trying to take it all in as much as I could but it got dark quick and I had my boys with me so I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked. it was pretty cold so dress appropriately. You can definitely walk the entire path in 30 minutes. I was bummed we missed the 2nd exhibit of the wine bottle/light towers. We couldn't find any signs or anything leading to it and my boys were cold so we decided to move on for the night. They have clean restroom stalls with warm running water to wash your hands which was super appreciative. Food trucks selling an array of food along with alcohol beverages with picnic tables and heat lamps for you to sit and chill if you like. I would opt to come in the warmer months and maybe when my boys are just a tad older where they may enjoy it more with me! It is indeed a place you should come check out at least by once! read more

I don't think words or pictures can properly describe just how cool this display really is. It was so amazing in fact, that I actually went twice on two different trips down to Paso. The first time I went was before covid, on a freezing January night. Even though it as almost miserably cold, you couldn't help but want to stand there forever looking at the vast field of lights. There was a band this night and heaters up around the tables. They were selling local wines for you to enjoy while waling around the field or listing to the music. I opted for bubbly because I was all wined out for the day. It was a great way to end my first day ever in Paso. The second time I went was this past May. After having to reschedule my tickets multiple times due to the lockdowns and the expansion project, I was so happy when the day to return finally came. I thought it would be cool to see again, but with the expansion added, it was more than that. way better than expected. The new area of the exhibit with the wine glass towers almost felt like an out of body experience. To get to walk around these towers as the lights changed color with the music playing in the background was truly magical. I honestly could've spent the whole evening just here and been completely content. If you're uncertain if you should go because art may not be your thing....do it!!! read more

There is beauty in the ambiguity of intent, execution and how it resonates with each person who visits in a completely different way. Thus; Bruce Munro and team deliver a stunning installment that simultaneously deliver you to another place while also making you fell like it's been there for eternity. Perfectly blending in with the rolling meadows, dotted with trees and bushes, and of course the sky providing a complimentary accent that further enhances its brilliance. The evening breeze plays a role in helping you bridge this reality of nature and human artistic-nurture in ways that I'm certain change with each unique evening, allowing nature to add its handiwork to each experience. Pictures don't quite do it justice. But that doesn't stop everyone trying in earnest to capture it all from various locations with the limited capabilities of smart phones. Even expensive cameras fail to capture the vast brilliance of the spectacle. One piece of advice: Make sure to bring a jacket - the night air and wind chill is no joke for those that get cold easily. At $47 per general admission ticket, it is a bit steep in price but fun to experience at least once. We arrived 15 minutes before opening and there was hardly a line to get in. We quickly learned why as the magical lights were not visible until the sun went down. We waited over an hour for the field of lights to do its magic and awe us with a sea of beautiful colors. They have benches located throughout the fields at different vantage points. To keep yourself warm, be sure to take a walk towards the back past the fields and check out the light towers. It's about a half mile loop to enjoy the entire installation. If you decide to head in early before sunset, you can grab a bit to eat at the food truck with Mexican cuisine or Sensorio's kitchen stand serving burgers, hot dogs, and sides. They also have an Airstream serving cocktails, wine, beer and hot chocolate. They have live music which you can enjoy while soaking up the warmth from the fire pits. This is a very cool light display in Paso Robles. A must see! We scheduled the all access experience with a charcuterie board and drinks. We got there at around 7:30 pm. It was still an hour before sunset. The lights I think are solar powered and they come on slowly as it gets darker, so it's a gradual thing. We got the charcuterie which was a plastic salad type container with some cheese, and other snacks, a little underwhelming. I ordered Troublemaker wine from Austin Hope which I know I like, but it was terrible. Like vinegar. Threw it out. As the lights come in it is very cool. Having all access gets you entrance to their latest display which is called Dimensions, which are very cool metal sculptures laser cut into mandala type art with lights. It makes for an amazing display. It awesome. I would recommend. Never seen anything like this before. Skip the food and wine, come for the lights. read more

It's even more impressive here because the show is presented in a valley (where Uluru is flat), and he has added colorful towers. I highly recommend it. read more

Bruce Munro is a British/Australian artist who created light art installations all over the world. From the UK, Mexico City/Mexico, South Korea, Australia and all over the USA (PA, TN, OH, VA, TX, AZ, GA, TX, CA) his light installations came to life. I was fortunate to get walk-on, last minute tickets to the Sensorio installation at Paso Robles, CA. At $40 per person, I made the most of my visit with taking in some of the live music, had a glass of wine, grabbed a bite to eat at the food trucks before I head into the light garden and the glass bottle towers. It's a fairytale to walk through and be surrounded in a field of magical, "light flowers". The moonlight and silhouette of trees made absolutely gorgeous, memorable photos (see my pics). Being in Paso Robles, it was fitting to have an installation of 17,000 locally sourced glass wine bottles all lit up in different colors, making 69 towers. Walking through the installation was certainly immersive and stimulating visually as well as auditory, with music lightly playing too. I was entertained! Wear comfortable shoes to walk. Parking is on dirt, but free. You can prepay for tickets by purchasing them online. It's a one and done kind of experience and I'm glad I was able to experience it. Buying tickets on line ahead of time is cheaper. You'll get a reminder email in the morning with the sunset hour, dusk hour, and temperature. We came on Friday 5/13 with sunset at 7:58 and dusk at 8:26. The day before the eclipse blood moon. We came at 7:30 and left at 9. We didn't drink or eat. I wanted to catch the sun set behind the mountains but that's all you can really get until it gets dark. (Which never got dark because of the moon) We made our way from the entrance to the Light Towers and just stayed there. At about 8:15, the towers started to light up and change colors. It's a tiny area and had seating with music through the speakers. I wouldn't lean on the seats because I saw a bunch of spiders and insects coming out of the rocks. After getting photos of the Light Towers, we started to walk towards the field of lights. The sun was still displaying a faint layer of orange in the background so it wasn't totally dark. On the opposite side, you have the moon that's rising and about to be full the next day casting a bright sky. Staying another minute seemed like a decade so we left. If I could do it all over again, I would come during dusk hours. If you drank and ate then it's possible to stay until it got dark. They close at 10:30. From the parking lot, you first walked through the security check point with metal detectors and they search your bags. Only unopened water bottles are allowed. No selfie sticks or tri pod. It can get pitch black inside so this is to prevent accidents. The lot is close so you can easily bring it back to the car. After security, you walk towards a booth for ticket scans. Then you see mass lawn area with corn holes, connect four, fire pits for you to listen to live music. I saw two food trucks and one beverage truck. Also a VIP area with another food truck. The restrooms are here then portable restrooms at the Light Towers. When you open the door, there are motion sensor lights that will turn on. I saw people bring blankets to sit on the lawn or when it gets chilly. It does get chilly at night even on a hot day. I would like to come back on a day that is not a full moon. read more

I couldn't display my tickets from my phone but they have the name on hand which is convenient. As soon as you go through the entrance, they have a few food trucks and music. The art exhibit is so great! There is nothing comparable to the field of lights and the tower of lights. You can buy tickets online or buy them there. It literally is in the middle of nowhere. They have food trucks, snacks, food and drinks available for purchase. If you bought VIP tickets you can hang out at the VIP area with a view of the field of lights the entire night and wine. Once you enter you see lights everywhere!!! The light bulbs change colors. My favorite part of the lights is in the middle because it is like you are surrounded with the lights everywhere! They also added the tower of lights exhibit which is cool. There are bottles with mini lights that change colors as well. If you're taking pictures here wait until there are bright colors like yellow to brighten up your face. Try to avoid blues and reds as they blur our your face. You're not allowed to use flash while at the exhibit. If you continue through the towers there's another small area of lights again. They remind me of a sea of jellyfish lights. Did a day trip here from sf Bay Area and we had a great time! Like many reviewers mentioned, try to arrive before sunset to catch the amazing sunset view over the light field. Also make sure you bring along a thick jacket or layers as it gets pretty chilly once the sun sets. There's a couple of food trucks around that serve pretty decent food. Come early so you avoid the long lines/ wait. The entire walk is probably less than an hour, but could be longer if you spend time appreciating the lights and taking pictures. The vip area at the terrace gives you the best view of the sunset along w access to a fire pit for warmth. But honestly I don't think it is worth it unless you were planning a special occasion or a date night. read more

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway. One evening I was poking around Yelp (thanks guys and gals!) and we decided to maybe go down south to Hearst Castle or the surrounding area. I was looking on the map and randomly saw "Sensorio" and for whatever reason it caught my eye. I swipped through the photographs people posted on Yelp and was fascinated by the idea of this place. My wife took a liking to it too, so we planned a day trip revolving around this. We drove down from San Jose, which is roughly 3 hours. It can get very hot during the daytime. We went in mid September and it was 104F. So pack light and bring water! We bought the tickets online and found a day, Memorial Day to be exact! The time it shows on your tickets is a time you can check in, not a time you have to be there by. The installation is a self-guided walk tour. Parked in the dirt lot and walked over to the check in area. There were some older people checking us in and I had a tripod and my camera. The lady at the front very rudely yelled at me from quite a distance "Take that tripod back to your car, they aren't allowed in!". We walked back to our car and then walked back to the gate to check in. They do look for drones and tripods so don't bother bringing those in. As you walk past the check in, there is a little opening area with live music and food trucks. It's pretty neat. The washrooms are located in this area as well (to the right of check in). We entered the area at around 7pm, and the sun was just setting. The lights weren't completely on just yet, but they were dancing all with the wind. Even with the lights not on, they look really pretty. As the sun set, the lights slowly come on and the magic begins. It really is pretty! Roughly a mile maybe half a mile of path to walk around through this mini valley-field of lights. Overall; My wife and i genuinely had a blast! I would totally recommend this for anyone who needs something to do in the evening time in Paso Robles. Depending on the time of year, bring a coat or dress light! (pun intended) read more

When in Paso Robles, it's obligatory to spend an hour here, simply because there is no other such light art anywhere. I would not come back repeatedly though, because $43 is steep for a ticket. I suppose you can enjoy the food trucks and order some drinks as well, and make an evening out of it. The field of lights is beautiful, no doubt. If you look closely, each light actually changes color in a subtle way. In addition to the field of lights, there is also a display of "light towers" made from empty wine glasses. My only feedback to the venue is to have better marked exit signs. The paths are dimly lit, so it's easy to get disoriented (1 star off). FYI The venue is kid-friendly, stroller-friendly, but not tripod-friendly. read more

Sensorio, Sensorio! What a feast of the senses. Sensorio has been on my list for a while to check out. And it didn't disappoint. We went around dusk and first hung around the lawn area playing Jenga and cornhole. They had live music, on-site restaurant, and food trucks. I was impressed by the bathrooms and how nice they were. The price does seem a bit steep for the installation but once the sun set, the lights continue to brighten. We enjoyed the Light towers along with the music. It was worth it, as you look upon the dark fields with the different colors of lights and hear the crickets chirping. It's nature & art melding together into an indescribable masterpiece. read more

This is a neat place to visit. I took several photos but you gotta experience this place in person. They have food trucks so there's nothing spectacular. I'd eat prior to attending. They have some local beer so that's bueno. The security lighting is terrible. The walkways are so damn dark that you can't see where you're going. They need to do a better job of illuminating these paths without taking attention away from the main attraction. read more

Highly recommend ordering tickets online to avoid waiting in long lines to purchase tickets at door. There is a separate line for those who have tickets - you go through metal detectors and bag checks as well. They don't really pay attention to the allotted time you purchased - it's mainly to control traffic. I suggest checking when the sun sets and arrive about 30-45mins prior. Make sure to account for time on parking, entering in, purchasing any snacks/food and drinks before walking the fields. They do not allow camera flashes so make sure to get pictures in before it gets dark - otherwise if you take selfies or group photos they are really dark. Once you are in, there is no limit on how long your stay is, it takes about 1.5-2 hours to walk the entire field of lights - make sure to walk all the way to the back for the towers! Is definitely worth a visit - you should take a walk to the field of lights it's quite illuminating! It is an experience like no other. Be prepared to pay for wine, drinks, and food like any other venue. If you are in the area, or couple with some other activities, you will have a good time. The terrace entry comes with an overpriced price drink, but the big plus is the gas heaters will keep your really warm so you can sit and enjoy the show. But do you make the time to take a walk through the fields. read more
