Sensorio Paso Robles donated an experience to the Lumina Alliance gala -- an organization doing powerful work supporting women and families -- and I was the lucky one who won it. Sensorio is pretty at night. I got there after dark so missed all the sunset activities like the live band and getting to sit inside an exhibit to enjoy the lights changing. But the different exhibits were still fully lit and bright. I had one hour to go through the entire map and it was doable, just not a full experience as I would like. It is really pricey to take the whole family here. 2 adults and 1 kid cost $180. There were no discounts for arriving at the last hour either. Parking was really easy in the last hour, restrooms were the nicer port-a-potties, and staff were friendly. We were one of the last people to walk through so we were able to see the exhibit clearly. Many areas in the fields, the columns, and the fishing rods were down or broken. But there were so many lights that I think generally people would miss. Definitely give yourself a few hours to enjoy this place to make it worth all the money you spend and to see the exhibits at a slow pace. read more

For the uninitiated, Sensorio is a massive outdoor art display using lights. One can gain entry before sunset, walk around to see the display before it gets dark and take a second tour after sunset. They have music show on stage, an onsite food court and a Mexican taco truck in addition to various drink options at some of the displays. There were about seven displays and dimensions was my favorite. It was hypnotizingly mesmerizing to watch the interplay of light and motion. The field of lights is massive. Though the sun set and there was no moon in sight, the ambient glow from the horizon didn't allow the lights to be fully visible. I felt they were kind of dim. The photos infact looked better than what my eyes could capture, it was almost like the elusive northern lights. Our Alaskan cruise director kept telling us that our cameras can see the northern lights better than us. This was like that! I would highly recommend going on new moon night if possible. I had a great time visiting Sensorio. I arrived right before sunset and lounged in the food and music area for a bit. I got a crab patty melt and garlic fries. Both were a little pricey and delicious! Once it got dark I followed the signs to the lights. There were different sections to visit. My favorite was DIMENSIONS by HYBYCOZO with the metal sculptures. Some of them you could go inside and some you could even spin around. It was a nice and breezy night and it was great to walk around and enjoy. Definitely worth a visit. read more

While a lovely event, our experience and enjoyment was often ruined by screaming and running children. Security told us families are warned but I didn't see any staff or security in the area dealing with this. FOSO area was the worst followed by DIMENSIONS and Light Towers. We paid a lot of money to enjoy this. We are not local and felt this would make a nice addition on our trip. We went to sensorio in 2022 when it was fairly new and it was a good experience overall, loved the outdoors lights, the wine experience, the music and the outdoor games. They do charge for parking too, and the food inside is expensive but the idea is great and I hope they expand more. The cost used to be good, expensive but good, not sure how it is now. Sensorio is an immersive outdoor art installation located in Paso Robles. It spans 35 acres, was started in 2019, and is open from December to March. It's a glowing exhibit so it happens after the sun sets. We came minutes before they opened at 4:30pm and there was already a line waiting. Admission was $65 per adult and $30 per child. They also have the VIP admission if you want the terrace view and complimentary drink. There was ample parking in the parking lot. Our admission gave us access to see the seven available exhibits which were full of lights everywhere. The field of lights were mesmerizing as we saw them go from unlit before sunset to captivating once pitch black. There was also an outdoor lawn with live music, food and drinks available, and fire pits to keep warm. The multiple fire pits throughout the entire area were greatly needed because it was very cold and was a nice spot to take a break from walking. Overall we spent about 1.5 hours here. It wasn't super packed the day we went but perhaps it was expected because the live music didn't play for that long. I'd recommend bringing more layers than you think you need because it can get really chilly. read more

We were surprised by a friend who bought our tickets while we were on a motorcycle ride. We really didn't know what to expect because we had never heard of this place. Who would've known that an evening in March would be so clear and actually on the warm side. The show of lights is hard to describe in words, but it is definitely a place to experience with your kids or just on a romantic evening with your loved one. I highly recommend giving this place a visit. Might show up early and enjoy the music in the open area with some yummy food. read more

We came to sensorio last night, and it was absolutely amazing. Wish it lasted longer as it was more or less just 3 hours long. Going from 5pm to 830pm. We had their Terrace seating which came with an elevated view of the light fields, as well as 2 complimentary drinks. We were able to snag ourselves some high tops with a fire pit. Which was so needed because it was really cold. And the wind didnt help!! I would highly suggest you bring your thickest jackets and sweaters as well as a beanie, scarf and gloves. Because once the sun goes down it gets down right frigid!! But thats also when the magic happens. The darker it gets, the more beautiful and spectacular the lights become. The field of lights was a sight to behold. Just so many lights that changes color slowly. My other favorite light installations were the mushroom looking lights (FOSO), the dimensions as well as the light towers. They all changed lights. So together they just looked so beautiful. At some of the art installations there was a lot of people. But towards closing time most of the people were gone. So you basically had the entire art show to yourself, which was magical. And walking thru the light fields it was so dark you only so black shadows moving around. Make sure your phone is fully charged, because youll definitely be taking lots of pictures especially in dark mode. Also splurge for the terrace. Its a beautiful view there and you get 2 complimentary drinks. And their menu is a little bit better then the general admission dinner menu. We got their burger which was pretty good. As well as their chicken salad. That one was ok. But I felt healthy. Their truffle fries were amazing!! We got 2 hot chocolates. And it was much needed. The food prices here are not bad at all. They have multiple stations to buy drinks and snacks around Sensorio. As well as some fire pits around the dimensions exhibit. I wosh they would stay open longer. But its definitely extremely cold! If you're in the Paso Robles area, Sensorio is definitely worth the visit. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the beauty of the lighted exhibits is pretty spectacular. I got there about 30 min before sunset so I could watch the art installations come alive which was perfect. There's about 5 light exhibits with the field of lights being the main highlight. I just got the regular admission ticket which I thought was perfectly fine. Grabbed a glass of wine at one of the airstream bars and began my walk through the exhibits. The field of lights is honestly mesmerizing and breathtaking. They don't allow flash photography or selfie sticks/tripod stands which actually ended up being a good thing. All photos were shot on an iPhone and ended up turning out pretty awesome. The staff members here are also so nice and friendly too. It's hard to see the pathway in the dark so just be careful where you're walking and wear comfortable shoes as it's mainly just a dirt road from exhibit to exhibit. read more

I came the year that they opened. And truly enjoyed the field of light. However, that pales in comparison to what they've done with it now. The opportunity to sit and enjoy live music while waiting for the sun to set is a perfect beginning to a truly enchanting evening. I know that sounds cheesy, but it really is. To then walk through the different exhibits and experience different senses, emotions, and lights is amazing. I also like that they have tables and opportunities to sit at each of the exhibits. I don't know that I would spend the money on the terrace, unless you were on a special date or event with somebody. Highly recommend this. Go right before sunset and start walking through it. On the return walk everything will be lit up. I was really impressed. Easy parking. The entire event is Wheelchair accessible. Staff is friendly. This is a very creative art display and the pics don't do it justice. The regular ticket is all you need. We visited Sensorio for a quick, last-minute weekend trip and it was a pleasant experience. It was my 3rd time visiting and I enjoyed the views, atmosphere, and new installations. A few things to note, the opening hours may vary depending on when you go, for example: they are open until 10pm during the month of September, and the hours change later on in the year (in November and December). Ticket prices have increased since I visited last, and it was about $213 for 3 Adult GA tickets, which I thought was a bit high and overpriced. Parking is widely available, and they have paved lots, an improvement from the dirt parking lots before. The field of light is quite captivating and enjoyable to walk through. I especially enjoyed the new 'dimensions' installation which consisted of intricately detailed metal work with some interactive elements and music. The fireflies were another smaller installation and looked cool when there was a slight breeze, which added some movement. In addition, another installation (I forgot the name of it) which was simple, light towers with cascading lights that were synchronized with music was a nice touch. They have plenty of seating and benches in various areas, so you can rest or immerse yourself in the vivid environment. There's also limited food options (such as snacks and paninis) along with drinks for sale. Although, it may be best to eat beforehand as they don't allow outside food and drinks. You can bring in sealed water bottles or empty, reusable bottles to fill up once you're inside. I'd recommend showing up slightly before sunset, so you can see the transition and notice the lights as it gets darker. It was quite crowded when we arrived (after 7:45pm), but the crowds were significantly less later in the evening. We stayed until closing and were able to enjoy Sensorio and the evening at a leisurely pace. I'd likely return to Sensorio in the future, unless the ticket prices end up going up exorbitantly high. Overall, I'd highly recommend visiting Sensorio at least once, if you're near Paso Robles or heading down to SLO/Pismo Beach. It's a great and fascinating attraction for all ages and seems like a nice option for families. read more

Everyone is nice, from the ticketing, to the greeters and the staff inside. I would like to give a shout out to Ms Alicia she is very helpful and accommodating. She showed us the best area where we can see the best of everything. Every area is really breathtaking, there are just some bulbs that needs attetion but overall its really pretty. The first time we attempted to visit was not successful coz there was a private event so pls check the website prior to coming. All the areas are different and equally made with precision and well thought off. The field of lights and the dimensions is one of my favorites. But you can see all of it for $72 person. The market area is fun too. The band is really good . There were couple of food trucks and Ricky's mexican food is served a very tasty tacos( i didn't take a photo coz it was dark).Im glad we tried it. You can also buy tickets at the venue but it's not any cheaper than the website, in fact it a little more by few cents. We came in just before the sunset and sat at the market place and drink wine, if you don't finish your wine nothing to worry coz you can walk around with it. Wish they had more to go with our VIP experience besides the terrace access and one glass of drink, it felt a bit underwhelming. We bought our charcuterie box separately. Absolutely fantastic experience! We booked the Terrace option and highly recommend it if you can afford the higher ticket price. We arrived shortly after opening time and we were able to get a table in the front center of the terrace. It was so peaceful watching the sun set and then the lights of the experience slowly lighting up. Once the sun sets, the exhibit is magical. We choose the Troublemaker red blend for our included drinks, and ordered some munchies from the terrace menu, and the food came fast and we loved both options we chose. Suggestion, if you tend to feel cold easily, take a sweater or light jacket. Even in summer, once the sun goes down and the breeze kicks up, some feel a bit chilly. We came to see the Sensorio installation on recommendation from family who had visited about a year or two ago. We were definitely not at all disappointed! For starters, I highly recommend coming after fourth of July but before the Mid-State Fair to benefit from low attendance. My family and I wholeheartedly appreciated being able to immerse ourselves in this exhibition, unfettered by large crowds. We arrived well before sunset and enjoyed the amenities (read as bar, drinks, chill ambiance, great staff, and live music). We decided to go to the "end" of the exhibit and walk our way back up to the main entrance. In this way, we could be surprised by the stunning display of lights nestled in the valley. The owners added various seating areas, benches, and cocktail tables throughout (and it seems that more areas will be installed for folks to sit and enjoy) the venue. In this way we were able to take in all the features of the exhibit. The weather was shorts and light sweater weather once it cooled down. This is a family friendly exhibit -- you are enveloped by sights and sounds that are complimented with drinks, and snacks along the way. What's more is we got to meet "Ghost", the cat who lives in the exhibit -- a very charming dog-like cat who also has his own instagram page. Prices were moderate -- but if you come when it's not crowded you don't have to "level up" to get fireplace seating. There was plenty cozy spots to go around the evening that we visited. read more

Whenever you are in the Paso Robles area, you have to check out this Sensorio for any kind of gathering. I went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. I believe we had a spot reserved for a group of us. There was a fire pit, there were food trucks, and there was a drink station. Once it gets dark, you are able to walk around and enjoy the light experience. It is a bonus if the moon shine is visible. There's something magical about this for all kinds of people to enjoy. The Field of Light at Sensorio in Paso Robles is a permanent immersive art installation, billed as an "intersection of art, technology and nature." It's impossible to convey in words and photos just how magical this whole sensory experience was, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paso Pro tip for this time of year: dress warmly! Although there are fire pits and heaters at various points, it was pretty chilly at night! We first enjoyed a casual dinner by a fire pit, while waiting for the sun to set and the lights to come up! We had advance tickets that granted access to all the exhibits. The first one on our walk through was the Field of Light which spans 15 acres and includes 100,000 spheres that glow like flowers on the rolling hillsides. Powered by solar panels, the fiber-optic stems slowly change color and move slightly in the breeze as you walk by - so beautiful! The Light Towers exhibit features 69 towers and 17,000 wine bottles! Each tower has 200+ illuminated wine bottles, representing the 200+ wineries/vineyards in Paso. The fiber optic colored lights in each tower shift to a mesmerizing musical score and the overall effect is like walking through a dreamy forest. The FOSO (fiber optic symphonic orchestra) exhibit just opened a few weeks ago. The vision of UK large-scale light artist Bruce Munro was that the columns of light synchronized to ethereal music would create the experience of an orchestra playing among the lights. The geometrically patterned metal structures in the Dimensions exhibit were my favorite! The merging of light, color, and a haunting musical score made for an other-worldly experience. The exhibit was also interactive in that you could spin and even enter some of the structures. This is definitely a must-see experience when visiting Paso Robles! read more

Our experience was wonderful at Sensorio. We had tickets on the terrace overlooking the field of lights. It was a beautiful experience and I recommend it. My only negative experience which mad me only give 4 stars, as due to entrance staff. I have worked as a correctional deputy in a jail for 22 years and would say they would fit in well in charge of inmates but not customers to your venue. They spoke very rude, barking out orders of what to do as far as lining up and going through the entrance. I would suggest working on how to make the customer service experience better and have them soften their attitude. Everyone else were very nice. read more

Hubby surprised me with a trip to Paso after a long work week. To end the night we went to Sensorio. I was really disappointed with the live music. The band spent more time talking than performing. The lead member of the band told the most lame jokes and couldn't read the room... no one was laughing. We all wanted to relax with some music while we ate our dinner waiting for the sun to set. It would have been much better if they had Christmas music playing considering its holiday season. Alexa would have done a better job! The QR codes placed on the tables for ordering food provided limited items so make sure to order your food yourself at the main building for better options as listed online. The portion size of my chicken sandwich was so big I couldn't finish it, taste was decent (7/10) however, they were extremely stingy on the portion size for a side of fries, which was sad. The light show was nice (8/10). Unfortunately there was a lot of flash photography going on which was really annoying. Security stood around on their phones with their heads down. Didn't look like the rules were followed at all. There were a number of dogs running around which was sad to see too bc we left our poor pup at the hotel since the website said no dogs. The dogs that were present were not service animals, it was very obvious. The beignets were disguising and we were charged more than listed on the menu. They were dense semi raw and not chocolate as listed on the website. It's really sad to admit but a coworker brought beignets from Popeyes fastfood and those were 100xs better than the overpriced so call beignets Sensorio was selling. I was so excited to order them and regretted it immediately (avoid ordering food from air streamers in light the exhibit). I would recommend to solely go for the light exhibition (it's worth checking out ONCE) and avoid the desserts and cocktails! You'll regret wasting your money. read more

So after seeing some other families review the experience with toddlers and others review the security staff demeanor, I thought I would share the feedback I emailed to Sensorio after our visit last night. Unfortunately, I did not read Yelp before visiting so hope others will so they can be aware before deciding to go: We visited Sensorio tonight, my husband and I and our 21-month-old daughter. The exhibit was impressive overall. My daughter loved the live music. I have some feedback though, regarding the no outside food or drinks. This actually was very upsetting to me, as we just packed a few things for my daughter like a small container of fruit, string cheese, an applesauce pouch, and some crackers. In the "Know Before You Glow" email, there isn't anything said about no outside food so I wasn't aware there would be such strict restrictions for toddlers. When we arrived at 5pm, the security person standing in front of the gates eyed our daughter and said directly that there is no outside food, including "puffs, snacks, anything that 2 and 4 year olds like to eat, I know as I have kids myself so if you have anything, leave it in your car." This was said in a rude tone and was very uncompassionate, but regardless, we left everything in the car, and I had my daughter eat the applesauce pouch right beforehand so at least she got some sustenance, as I wasn't sure what options would be available for her for dinner. (The kids menu did not have foods she can eat due to allergies). We get inside and I didn't see any toddler friendly foods at all - there were no small snacks we could purchase, no granola bars, and the fruit being sold is not something she can eat (melon is too hard for the few teeth she has so far) On TOP of this, I then see a 3 year old eating puffs from a plastic baggie, and another child in another family eating snacks from a container from home! If a place is going to "strictly enforce" a rule - then do it for everyone. And also have options to purchase for toddlers - My husband and I would have bought food at Sensorio regardless if our toddler had snacks or not, I don't know why we couldn't bring in a few small things for our baby. If it's a trash or litter issue, I had nothing "crumbly" and everything I packed was in a reusable container I would take home - but either way, two other children I saw were eating outside food in Sensorio that they told me I could not bring? This whole aspect was upsetting - fortunately I was able to get my daughter to eat some chicken from my dish - but throughout the night, as most people know, toddlers like to have small snacks and she was on and off asking for something and becoming upset, and this put a damper on the experience for me and to be honest, some other patrons I'm sure did not like to hear her crying when they were trying to enjoy the night. I 100% understand the rule as an overarching rule; like you don't want people bringing in their own food, yes - but for a baby/toddler, this seems unnecessarily strict. If you don't want a certain age coming to view the experience that's one thing, but that doesn't seem like the case, and kids under 2 have certain needs and dietary restrictions that you currently don't have accommodations for. I write this just in hopes you can grant a little compassion to those who come with toddlers, add some accommodations, and also make sure **everyone** is following the "rule" if you're going to enforce it. read more

A must see if you are in the area. We couldn't go on our earlier visits because dogs are not allowed (other than service dogs), but this time we were in Paso without our pooch. It's a short drive from downtown Paso or the 101 freeway. Its open from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. Plenty of parking. Buy in advance to save around $10 pp. $65 pp for all access pass. Friendly staff. There is a large seating area with comfortable seats as soon as you enter, with a bar/food counter, live music and a taco truck. The area with the light displays is huge - around 10+ acres. The walkways are smoothly paved and wheelchair accessible. There are multiple places to sit, many small bars/snack counters and bathrooms. Plan to arrive before sunset to see the place gradually light up and transform into a wonderland, and plan to spend at least 2 hours. Guys...you really have to see this with your own eyes! It's amazing! After going I am really so sad to see any negative reviews. All access tickets are where it's at so you can see all the installations. There are tons of ticket types that were a tiny bit confusing if you've never been but it makes sense after you go. If in doubt about what types good for you there's an option to buy onsite but you do risk selling out. Large parking lot with plenty of room...security check with bags and no open beverage containers. Merch booth right at the entrance with cute blankets, gloves, hats and t-shirts with a cat! I laughed but then found out ghost is the adopted sensario kitty that lives on the property. A cute venue/bar with food trucks and live music, fire pits and grassy area made me wish we came earlier during our time slot, not realizing we'd be able to fill the four hours although two was *just* enough. Recommend walking allllll the way to the end first before it gets dark out and then working your way back during closing. Esp if you have a little human with you who will take their time looking at everything! Don't want to spoil it but it's pretty magical. Staff is very kind and attentive warning us about some of the installations for our little. On the pricier side but priceless to see my one year old walk into the interactive exhibit and say "wow" and proceed to run around for an hour fully entertained. Best playground! Now to figure out how to install something similar in my backyard! Can't wait to go again. Will try the bites next time as a lot of the downtown restaurants are closed for a late night bite when the exhibit closes at 9 and you're gunna wanna stay. read more

This place has been on my bucket list for awhile. It is beautiful and my toddler loved it. We got there before sunset and we were wondering when the lights turn on but they are already on. It's just you can't see the exhibit until it turns back on. There are maps but I wish they had a map printout for you to follow along while you are walking. I also wish I brought a warmer jacket since it got cold at night. There were more exhibits than I expected! I thought it was just the one you generally see photos of with the field of lights but there were many others. I do wish they sold hot cocoa since it got cold and I went on a hot summer day. The selling point was that you could sit and watch the lights come on in the field as the sun set, but we were able to do that anyway without having done it. We actually ate beforehand in downtown Paso Robles, so we didn't really need to grab dinner there. It does look like they have a good selection of food, and they have some live music. We got there a little before sunset. It did seem like we were all lined up, and entry went in a little bit slowly, but then it was fine once we got past security. They do examine your purse contents and have you walk through a metal detector. The exhibits were pretty amazing, particularly if you like light shows. There was plenty of walking, but also plenty of places to sit and admire things. I liked how they had some comfortable areas with fire pits, and you could purchase snacks or drinks at additional locations. They do ask you not to take any flash photographs, but I found my iPhone did a good job of taking photos (though the ones on their website are better than any I took)! read more

Stunning! Great location and absolutely beautiful throughout the night. I'm not quite sure if it's worth the price. I do feel it's a bit overpriced, that's why I did 4 stars. I think it's well maintained and ample spots to stop. It was quite breezy and cold, even on a warmer April day. Would be nice to have heaters throughout. We did the terrace, it was very ample seating with heated fire walls. I think it's a nice touch to get a complimentary drink although we paid $117. The restrooms are clean and enough to not have to wait. Nice having a airstream bar. The only food option is pizza but you can go back to the other taco truck or restaurant. The light displays were amazing. We loved the dimensions the best. It was wide paths to walk around. Well light pathways. There are restrooms along the way so that was nice for my small bladder. I did also appreciate the $2 water bottles especially since they don't allow outside food/ drinks. read more

Went here with my 79 yr old mom this past March 2025. Parking was free and lots of space. Disabled parking near the entrance and RVs/buses have a designated area. We arrived 5-10 minutes before it opened and purchased our tickets there. Maybe in summer it would be good to purchase in advance and online. Also saw some local hotels provided drop off/pick up service for guests. Some of these hotels may provide lodging/event packages. Something to think for next visit. We purchased the VIP access because my mom wanted to be able to sit in a seating area that views the field. For this visit it was worth it to watch the sunset, then see the field transform. Mom has mobility issues but was able to walk the field of lights upper walker no path and Dimensions section. She was ok to walk on gravel walkways, just not the sloping parts. It was still cold and the VIP seating area had reserved seats and heaters. This was a huge plus for my mom. VIP access provided access to all other areas, which I didn't get to really spend time at. My mom only viewed the field of lights and Dimensions. We also were able to order 2 drinks at the VIP area (wine, beer, cocktail, non-alcoholic beverages) part of the VIP package. Original plan was to hang out til sundown and then head out. We ended staying til almost closing. We enjoyed it and actually wished it were open just a little later - I think April through summer the hours are later. Read other reviews suggesting to explore other areas before dark. This is what I did and would recommend it. Enjoyed the Dimensions exhibit both daylight and at night. There's a separate seating area there with fire pits and place to purchase drinks. Overall, enjoyed the experience more than I imagined. If visiting with younger group, I would not do VIP. There are areas in the light field where seating can be enjoyed just as well. The stage area with live music is a good place to wait until sundown. As is the firepit area near Dimensions. Tips: *wheelchair rental available at the entrance *bring layers, it gets cold once sun is down. *they are strict on no outside food or drink. read more

Sensorio is worth a visit, if you're into the aesthetics & like taking photos. But once is enough, and I wonder if soon it won't be. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I was visiting SLO for the weekend and just happened to see Sensorio recommended as a unique attraction. The price for General Admission was steep at nearly $70, which is nearly 50% than 3 years ago.. (but I didn't know that then). I decided to go for it and ignore the VIP perks. I had some free time so decided to enter a bit after opening. There was one main performer on the Market Stage, and while he was talented, I don't think I needed to be there for over an hour. I could have just eaten outside first instead of entertaining the high food prices inside the Mercado. Finally, once the sun set, everyone started exploring the actual attraction. Funnily, the highlight is at the very beginning, with the Field of Light. Honestly I really loved walking through the paths and admiring the lights. I'd suggest waiting for the initial rush of people to pass, so you can enjoy with a bit more peace. After the expectations were set so high, the rest of the exhibits didn't quite live up. Dimensions was probably second-best, while both Gone Fishing and Fireflies were the most underwhelming. I managed to spend ~45 minutes seeing everything I wanted. To wrap up, you're spending $70 for under 1 hour of pretty light exhibits of varying spectacle. It was fun to immerse myself in the unique experience and capture some special pics, but I wouldn't go again. And I would only recommend this to particular folks that found the above interesting. If the prices continue to rise.. it will become harder to justify. read more
