Skiatook isn't my normal area of operations, so when The Wife told me we were meeting some family for dinner, I got excited at the chance for a new Yelp! review. Senor Salsa was our selected venue for the evening and I'm always down for some good Mexican food, so the evening was shaping up to be a win all around. Our out of town family already had a corner booth staked out when we arrived, so seating was immediate. At 5pm on a Saturday, we were probably just ahead of the curve anyway. The interior is spacious and comfortable, nicely appointed and not overly kitschy. Booths were nice and cushy and overall, very clean and nicely kept. This is kind of a thing with me... I can handle cluttered, but not keeping a place clean doesn't speak well for the kitchen either. Drink orders were taken all around, and menus proffered up. Since I'd already checked Yelp! for some ideas, I was fully intent on the Chili Rellenos, since the photo in another Yelp! review looked most awesome. And then.... as luck would have it, on the menu, I spied the old standby... the bane and joy of my existence..... yep.... Pork Chile Verde. Chile Rellenos might have been on deck, but they got derailed because, as you know, I'm a sucker for Chile Verde. The Wife got a combo of beef and chicken enchiladas, and The Kid went with Beef Nachos. Apparently she gets her creativity from me. Also added was a large bowl of queso, since Yelp! reviewers indicated it was worth getting. Given that there eight in our party, I expected a few minutes at least to graze on chips/salsa/queso, and a few minutes was just what I had. Probably no less than 8-10 minutes later, orders were flying on the tables. Given the potential for confusion, our server nailed it. Everything was perfect and spot on. The Wife's enchiladas were, oddly enough, a combination of beef AND chicken in EACH enchilada, as opposed to one beef/one chicken. She commented that while quite good, they were noticeably lacking any sauce component in the filling. Not bad, just odd. The Kid's beef nachos were ample, well seasoned and well plated. I say well plated because they were nicely spread around and properly topped, instead of dumped on a plate and some meat and cheese plopped on. My Chile Verde was amazing. Spicy, tart, rich and deeply flavorful. Plenty of tomatillos for the freshly acid foundation, and plenty of green chilis to provide the right amount of heat. As usual, I skipped the rice to cut carbs, so I can't comment about the rice, but the beans were on par as well. Nicely cooked, appropriately seasoned and plentiful, the plate was well balanced. Service was also on point. Not to intrusive, but still there often enough to keep all 8 glasses full. Overall, I was impressed and very satisfied with our meal and dining experience. I'd probably make the trip back to Skiatook (from Owasso) if given the slightest nudge. read more

The restaurant is clean and fine. There's nothing that particularly pops out, but nothing to complain about, as far as the building goes. It was clear after a while that they were grossly understaffed. It took over half an hour to have our order taken. They kept getting our drink order wrong, and set down two straws for us (there were five of us). When the food came it was sporadic. Three of our orders came at the same time, but not all together. The fourth person got theirs about five minutes later. Then a few minutes later they brought the guacamole, that was part of another order. Then once we were all finished eating, the fifth person's food came. They did take that order off our ticket. The food was fine. There's not much to complain about except it wasn't particularly special. I got the beef chimichanga a la carte. The bathroom was actually pretty nice. There were only two stalls, but there wasn't a line. I'm not very familiar with Skiatook, so I'm not sure if this is the only Mexican restaurant, but I would probably choose another restaurant it I come back, or at least make sure there are more than two waiters. read more

Probably a pretty solid 3 type of place but I might rate this visit a 2.5. We went here for a late lunch and we took up a table for about two hours for a much needed girls' lunch. Food was the typical Mexican offerings. Food came out pretty quick. I will say that they messed up one ordered. Beef fajitas were ordered...chicken was delivered. Water glasses weren't refilled. When we were ready to pay (you pay on the way out), we stood at the checkout for about four minutes with a line former behind us before anyone appeared. (Granted it was late, around 3:30 and maybe they had let go of some staff.) I do adore their salsa. Guess that's what they're known for.... read more

I have been going to Senor Salsa in Skiatook on occasion for several years. The restaurant appears to be clean with plenty of parking with parking available for RV's. There is plenty of seating. In my opinion the chips and salsa are very good. The food has always been good. my wife and I went three weeks ago my wife had taco salad and I had beef chimichanga with rice and beans. As always the food was great, however the server was less than desirable. The server gave us a menu, took our drink order. After about ten minutes we finally got our drinks. We were ready to place our order but the waiter turned and walked away. He returned in about another five minutes to take our order. When he brought our order he sat the food in front of us without saying a word, turned and walked away. His attitude was as if he was mad at someone. Another waiter did refill our glass when he noticed they were empty. We never say our waiter again until time for our ticket. We blew it off thinking the waiter was having a bad day. However I went back by my self this Saturday 5/1/2019 about 3:00pm for lunch. I had a different waiter with the same attitude as the last. When he brought my order he hurriedly slung my plate on the table hard enough to slosh some of the refried been out of the plate. He did not say anything and walked off. I never got a refill on my drink and never say him again. After I finished my meal another waiter came with my ticket and slapped it on my table and walked away. When I paid my bill the cashier asked how everything was, I told him the food was good but the service was less than desirable. The cashier did not respond one way or the other. I really don't know what happened to cause the service to go down hill but hope they get their act together soon read more

My experience here was how it always is. My wife loves this place and so do our kiddos. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is familiar. The staff is friendly and love kids. The tables are clean and the floor is trash free. And yes we will be returning for another visit. read more

This is my favorite place to get chorizo cooked and served anyway. And the number one for charro beans. It has loads of meat in it and fresh ingredients, not tomatoey at all and so much flavor!! I absolutely love the staff. Their margaritas are amazing. Not too sweet with a little kick. The verde salsa is to die for. Our kids love to come here and don't mind if we decide to stay for a football game. Not a fan of the house chicken but the fajita chicken is great. Steak degallado is the best entree on the menu by far and you get quite a bit. read more

First time here. We are from out of town, and stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The place looks pretty nice from the outside and inside and we were greeted and sat right away. Our server wasnt very friendly and seemed to be just going through the motions. We started with chips and salsa, chips were ok, salsa was pretty mild and bland. We asked for some queso, which was a really good white queso and saved the chip and salsa appetizer. I ordered the lunch combo #3, one chicken enchilada and one taco with rice and beans. Again, nothing great.... pretty bland. My wife ordered the lunch fajitas which looked good and came out fresh and hot. She said they were pretty good and seasoned well, but mentioned the tortillas seemed cheap and store bought. Also, I don't recommend the specialty Margarita (forget what it was called) but it had a pineapple wedge and had pomegranate in it. Tasted like cough syrup. We went with someone who had been there and ordered before, she seemed to enjoy it though. Guess we are used to better margaritas.... again, this is a small town place, and I think we are used to a little better from a better market. read more
