Great place a taxi ride away from the old town center! We had a quiet dinner and the staff were so attentive and welcoming. They serve you an amuse bouche and dessert set that composed items that tasted like the five different tastes (sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and umami) which were really fun to try.

Excellent service and unbelievably sumptuous sauces! Had to take a cab to the restaurant from the main town in Salzburg, but it was worth it. Wine pairing was amazing and the care the chef put was unforgettable.

Just got done with Senns. For anyone to rate this place a 3 star is a travesty. By far one of the best restaurants in the entire country. The dishes are creative, delicious, and satisfying. 3 stars!!???? This is why we can't have nice things on the Internet. Senns is a 2 star Michelin restaurant, which means it ranks with the best in the world. Expect to pay $75-$100 per person.

Dinner here was fine, but not the 4.5 star experience Yelp led us to believe. Yelpers so…read morerecommended this place that we tried to go our first night in town, and were advised that it might be a 30 minute wait -- but the staff *also* told the 7 parties ahead of us that it might be a 30 minute wait for them, too. So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We came in around 5pm for an early dinner before our train back to Munich and was able to grab a table for 4. We got incredibly lucky because the restaurant really filled up and by the time we left, there was a long line down the block. Of course we had to have their Original Wiener Schnitzel, which was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also had a Salzburger Nockerl, which is a classic Austrian soufflé dessert that is considered a culinary symbol of Salzburg. You do have to order this about 20 minutes in advance, so we ordered it when we made our entree orders. This was really good and honestly, more than enough for our group of 4. I also highly recommend their house beer, which was one of the best beers I had during our 10 day trip.

During our first visit to Salzburg in 2009, we asked our hotelier to recommend a genuine Austrian…read morerestaurant - one that did not offer "Menus for tourists" and that prepared authentic dishes. He recommended the Bärenwirt. Returning to Salzburg with our 11 adult children and grandchildren, we wanted them to have a similar authentic experience so we made a reservation at our old haunt, which has been in operations since 1663. Things have changed over the last 16 years. On our first visit, the menu was only in German and our server spoke to us in German until we threw in the towel and admitted, "Ich spreche nicht sehr gut Deutsch. Englisch, bitte?" (I don't speak German well. English, please?) Now, 16 years later, English has become the default and today, the menu is presented in four languages. But the food is still just as authentic and delicious. Taking grandkids who range from 10 to 15 years of age, we were bracing for a few refrains of, "I don't LIKE that! It's weird!" or similar rants, but we heard none of it. All the kids (and parents, too, for that matter) dove gamely into the menu and found things that were to their liking. The menu is large and varied. Main dishes include roast pork, pasta, sausage with roasted potatoes, dumplings, goulash, schnitzel, fried chicken, boiled beef and (of course) bratwurst. The food was good, there was an excellent variety, and it was brought out quickly. Prices for main dishes were quite reasonable, with most under €20. Wiener Schnitzel was the most expensive, at €28,90 but it was an outlier. The only issue I had was the price of the soft drinks. Between our grandkids, they had 10 Cokes - at €5.90 EACH. That was €59 for sodas; more than we paid for all of our beers. My wife was determined that, for dessert, the kids and grands would all taste Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschkenröster - cut-up pancake with raisins topped with powdered sugar and served with a jam for dipping. A truly Austrian experience that everyone enjoyed, though some more than others. On the night we visited, we encountered several other parties of Americans. I have no way of knowing whether the place has become that popular with visitors or management simply corralled us into the same room. Regardless, it was a very pleasant evening and one I'm sure we will repeat the next time we're in Salzburg.

After trekking more than 10 kms today it was an obvious, and as it turned out, brilliant choice. It was fairly busy but our server, from the Netherlands originally, was great. He patiently explained the menu offerings as his English was far superior than my German will ever be. It's very nice inside with a couple of coolers housing large cuts of beef on display. Turns one of the owners is a butcher by trade, and the other a wine sommelier, nice combination. I ordered the goulash and the lovely K garnered the final cut of Dry Aged Entrecôte available for the evening and we shared a green salad. The salad sat on top of nicely boiled potatoes, which was something we have never experienced, but will surely steal as an idea. The goulash was excellent, and the steak absolutely brilliantly cooked medium rare. Finally the wine was also top drawer, and the beer excellent. What really made the experience a six stars out of five was our server. We were amongst the last cold there so we had a chance to talk with him about the restaurant, its owners and origins as well as some personal stories. We've ate well on this trip to Europe, but this meal experience will most certainly be at the top of the list.

This was my first time trying Kasnocken and it was yummy but heavy (I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but I would say it is similar to mac n cheese). I don't usually love huge chunks of meat but I really liked the pork knuckle was well - the meat was tender and the skin was crispy but not burnt. I wasn't a fan of the bread dumplings and definitely could've done without it but I think it was more of a personal preference. They also have a wide selection of beer of course. It was a bit out of the way and in a not very popping neighborhood, but the restaurant itself was BUZZING - completely full on a Thursday evening. The restaurant itself is pretty big too. Since it was busy, the service was a bit slow but our server was really nice.

We eat greek all the time back home, and here was our take on everything: Greek Country Salad - I've never had this before in the States, it's so good that im going to start making it at the house with Tzaziki for a clean light lunch. Tzaziki - Best we've ever had, no doubt about it Squid - Best we've ever had Lambchop - Best we've ever had Chicken and Gyro meat - very very good Fries - best we've had in Europe (Lets be honest, we Americans are the undefeated champs when it comes to heart clogging greasy food lol) I'd recommend the meat platter #112 for 4 people, not 2. You could probably feed 6-8 people with it if you got an extra greek country salad and extra Tzaziki VERY VERY good meal if you are trying to skip the carbs and you just want some clean veggies and meat. 10/10 meal. I can't think of another restaurant we've been to on the planet where 3 different dishes were the best we've ever tasted. If i lived here, i'd come at least 1-2x per week!
