I am very critical about everything and Carly put my mind & soul at ease with such an important issue as home care for Mom. We are starting care immediately without reservation. Home Instead is not the corporate machine that I have reservations about. Important issues to me are they are a local, long-established family business that will provide flexible care for the dynamic situation. It's very hard on dementia patients to move them and also hard to find a place so when you're paying almost $90,000 a year for Care you would think that would be enough. Be careful putting your loved one here because they were very nice when we joined and it's just gotten worse and worse since the new owners took over

For sure, that good Reputation attracts and it looks good on the first impression. At the tour and contract signing Earnest assurances are given that set expectations for a high level of service and safety. Once moved in, the day to day is not always up to the same "high" standard. Virtually any resident can give examples on a daily basis. They may also say " it does no good to complain cause nothing ever changes" Maybe these issues are organizational and baked into senior residential homes. Some things are great, some are ok, others are sub-par and a few are just terrible and unsafe. It's a buyer beware deal. & On the upside, there are many staff who are committed to giving residents respectful, responsive caring service. These folks do their best in a demanding and understaffed environment.
