Shrey was the project manager and Marcus was the lead engineer. They worked closely with our architect to complete the initial structural engineering and were very responsive throughout the entire process. After we submitted the plans to the city, there were several questions and comments from the city, and the team responded quickly and worked with our architect to address them. Whenever additional discussion was needed, Shrey and Marcus were readily available for video calls with us and our architect to review the issues and resolve any outstanding items. Their communication and follow-up were excellent. Their pricing was also very reasonable, and overall we were very pleased with the quality of their work, responsiveness, and professionalism. I would definitely recommend SF Bay Engineering to anyone looking for a reliable and responsive structural engineering team.

I hired SF Bay Engineering for seismic retrofit plans under the Earthquake Brace and Bolt program…read more I was told architectural drawings were required before they could proceed, so I hired and paid an architect to prepare them. After multiple back and forth and with SF Bay Engineering admitting they aren't familiar with the requirements, they terminated the contract. They refunded their engineering fee, but the architectural cost remained my responsibility. I brought the matter to small claims court, and the court ruled that because I retained the plans, reimbursement was not warranted. I recommend future clients clarify in writing how architectural costs will be handled if SF Bay Engineering terminates the contract. Happy to provide additional details upon request

Engin is prompt, responsive, and extremely knowledgeable. I found myself in a very difficult…read moresituation after my property was red-tagged by the City of Oakland due to foundation issues. After speaking with several engineers, Engin stood out as the most thorough, knowledgeable, and solution-oriented. He quickly understood the situation, provided a clear path forward, and worked effectively with the City of Oakland Planning and Building Departments to address the issues. Throughout the process, he was professional, communicative, and helped reduce a tremendous amount of stress and uncertainty. His expertise and guidance were invaluable, and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing structural engineering services. Thanks to Engin, a situation that felt overwhelming became manageable. I am very grateful for his help.

Navigating SF building codes is a nightmare, but Engin and the team made the structural side of things seamless. They provided cost-effective design solutions that saved us on construction costs without compromising safety. They were incredibly responsive to our contractor's questions and helped us get through the permitting process faster than expected. If you need a structural engineer in the city who actually understands old SF buildings, this is the firm.

After some research, I concluded I should consult a structural engineer. Framework has great reviews, so I reached out. The person who resounded to my email inquiry requested some photos, asked me some targeted questions, gave me some pointers re what to look for, looked at more photos, and responded again. The professionalism and courtesy exhibited by this company is first rate, and I am not yet even a client. These days, great customer service is rare, so I am surprised and enthusiastic when I receive it. I may or may not end up needing a structural engineer in the future, but, if I do, I know who I will hire.

I strongly recommend Framework Engineering…read more My wife and I were looking to put in an offer on a house near Rockridge Bart. Due to the condition of the home, which hadn't been lived in for a couple of years, there was significant deferred maintenance and open questions about the scope of needed structural repairs. The house sits on a down slope with a large undeveloped basement level. We have a growing family, so were excited about the possibility of expanding the square footage of the house in the future, but unsure about the risk and cost to expand. Dustin Muhn came out to the site this past Sunday on short notice. He walked the Basement level with us and compared his observations to the seller's home inspection report. He uncovered a crack in one of the retaining walls that was not covered by the report and expertly interpreted some of the more technical language for us. Most importantly, he provided us feedback on the minimum required scope of work that we should complete prior to occupying the house, while also exploring a second larger project to occur sometime later. If you're looking for someone to evaluate the structural design and existing conditions of your home, Check out Framework Engineering.
