Even if there's only one street to go to in the Port, it's Lipson Street. One street scape with so much impact, imagine what the rest can be like!! Yeah I want it and I want it NOWWWW...sorry couldn't help myself. So ho inspiring with so many unique gift ideas and not only that but in your own home, spend some moolha on yourself too! Superb facade with super high ceiling reminiscent of the era, tastefully decorated, easy to view all the stock and reasonable prices. One piece in particular caught my attention and there's a photo of it with this review, the daintiest hand painted liquor glasses hanging off a wire like baubles on a Xmas tree. Placed on a stool next to the window sill with sunlight glistening off the glass, hmmm a melancholy moment. Not just homewares but a few pieces of jewellery also, a bamboo ladder with kitchen hand towels in dare I say retro theme and I almost bought one too, definitely a next time. Or even better my other half can buy it for me, will have to give subliminal messages through his Ipad. I was so excited when I heard that a farmer's market will be opening down my side of town…read more This little market has only been open a month and so it's not huge, but it has some pretty fantastic little stalls available. It's an outdoor market and due to some new re-development next to the Hart Mill, there is a fantastic playground for the kids and a lovely seating area. The market starts at 9am to 1pm and with food stalls, I highly recommend coming for a delicious breakfast. They have pop-up cafe serving fairtrade Campos coffee, there are also many food stalls with the emphasis on local. From Bakerhus pies and sweet pastries, raw bliss balls and of course a stall from the famous Port Adelaidean cafe, Red Lime Shack, who sell delicious smoothies and vegetarian delights. Stick around and listen to the buskers, then wander around and pick up some organic fruit and vegetables, grab a freshly pressed organic apple juice, perhaps purchase some seedlings to grow your own herbs and vegetables. Then back to one of the other food stalls for an early lunch! You can take the girl out of Port Adelaide, but you can't take Port Adelaide out of the girl! I am proud of the area and proud of how its evolving. I love the alternative funky vibe and how passionate our local community and businesses are ensuring a bright future for the area and supporting locals. Here is a list of the stalls that are currently at the markets. Fingers crossed the list gets bigger soon! Rawsome Blissballs The Good Box Organics Fakery Bakery Red Lime Shack Taste It By Tash Haddo's Hotdogs Elevate Natural Pet Food Bakerhus Dig In It Fresh Forest Orchard Bulgarian Connection Pop Up Cafe for coffee Sorells Olives and Oils Seed Sisters (seedlings, seeds, etc)

I had to stop myself from patting all of the doggies who had come along with their owners. Great coffee. Lots of breakfast & lunch options if you are heading down for food. Unique organic options and fresh produce. It seems a new stall opens every week. The council have put a lot of money towards making this a unique and viable little spot with toilet facilities, a sparkly new playground and lots of free parking. Wild at Hart also had organised a small circus tent with a child friendly show playing the sunday I was there. It really is a gorgeous little part of Adelaide on the waterfront and I'm so glad that it's getting the attention and praise it deserves.

The Fisherman's Wharf Market and the Brickworks Market have alot in common, they both started off…read morereally well having a good variety of non trashy items and hand made goods but for some reason have slowly sunk into the genre of second hand stores and smokemart type shops. It can be so much better, 'potential lost Port Adelaide' it's loud and clear, the perfect location to improve and hopefully it can and will get better. But at the moment once you've seen it, it'll be the same next week and the weeks and years after that which is the case to date. Ok, so what has it got to offer (besides a great location)...a fantastic donut vendor out the front, good coffee next door, a terrific hotdog and sausage stand - you can bet your bottom dollar they earn the most from these places as there's nothing else worth buying! Ok, I'll carry on...inside is a treasure trove of pirate like booty, stall after stall of 'antiques', a pet shop (no animals), sweets stall, smallgoods, memorabilia, jewellery and more. Located on two levels packed with masses of oldy worldy relics, but there are a few newer things to take your fancy, if you look hard enough. On a lazy Sunday why not go for a drive down to the Port and have a look around the market, grab a bit to eat before venturing out to the surrounding streets steeped in history and with plenty to offer. As a final word, it really is a case of 'can't see the forest from the trees' it's a Salamanca Market in waiting and the modernisation progress needs to be properly assessed as it's obstructing the view!

Good old Fishermans Wharf hasn't changed in the 15 odd years that I've been coming here!…read moreMaybe that could be the reason that it's never 'overly' busy. Maybe. The myriad of stalls are still filled with almost anything you could ever need, and plenty of things that you probably don't! And yet I keep going back. Maybe one day I'll find a genuine Van Gogh hidden underneath the tacky painting of that castanet-laden Spanish lady with her own enigmatic smile. Maybe that faded-blue vase with the plastic flowers in really is from the Ming Dynasty. Maybe. Or maybe I just enjoy mingling with the amazing range of people who frequent this Adelaide icon of tackiness; or the delicious freshly cooked mini jam doughnuts with a hot Latte; maybe I want to have my lunch with my feet dangling over the edge of the docks and watch the dolphins play; or maybe I just want to continue to support local cottage industries who open their stalls week in, week out because they're the true salt of the earth. Maybe. But if you've always been "meaning to go there" - do it. Then you'll know why you did.

I'm kinda afraid to write about Hosanna op shop, as it might lure more people here. I want them all…read morefor myself! Can't I? Must I share this with you? Oh well, here we go. An absolute gold mine. Everything here is cheap with a capital 'C' and the stock is amazingly good and varied. Last winter, they had a stunning collection of faux fur jackets, absolutely fashionable and just short of a magazine shoot. The leather shoes are plentiful here and at such incredible prices. The shop layout is huge and divided with clothing, bric a brac, bevy of hats and scarves, bling accessories and so much more! For someone who thrives on handbags, I found so many collections here. Some in leather, some canvas and delightful totes. Oh, I could just stare at them for hours! It's definitely worth a trip here, as you'll find many op shops in this area. Meet neighbour Salvos who's just next door, and you'll also find another Salvos branch and Goodwill just down the road in Findon. So know that I've told you about the best op shop in town, you have my permission to visit Hosanna, as long as I'm allowed to tag along! :p

I went to a Salvos the other day looking for a dress up outfit and a disgusting 70's dress was priced at $59.95!! Excuse me?! Did you know you're an OP SHOP??!! I have to say I'm with Kamini here... a little loathe to share it but since I'm so nice I can't help myself! Hosanna Op Shop is one of the best op shops I have ever been to. They are still run by little old ladies who price things as op shop items should be priced. There was a plethora of brown and black school shoes (should you ever need a thousand pairs of them), great vintage items, loads of hats, scarves and bags and some very good near new clothing and homewares stuff. As well as that there's a great selection of preowned books and I have managed to pick up a few gems there :) I'm finding lately that it's better to find those little church run op shops than go to the big chains, as they tend to have the bargains as well as volunteer staff who are always friendly! You won't regret visiting this humble little shop.
