Woodville Salvos is one of the bigger Adelaide Salvos stores, and a good one for furniture. They have a large range of old style furniture at good prices, and I've found some lovely little pieces here like an (almost) antique coffee table.
Some time during the past few months they've moved the store around to include a Salvos Bed Centre, like the one way down South Road, however this one is quite a bit smaller than that, and at the moment only has single beds. Still, it's useful to know about.
Like most Salvos (and other op-shops for that matter), this shop has way more clothing than can comfortably fit on the racks, so if you're specifically looking for something, expect to waste time wading through everything. The clothes are so packed in that it's quite a task.
The quality of the clothing here isn't high, and a lot of it is quite old-fashioned. You find the occasional nice piece or nice dress. My best friend beat me to a great summer dress the other day, which she is now strutting around in. I came out with a book and a DVD instead.
Their book collection is average at best, with lots of stuff that doesn't appear to move, like dated gardening and cook books. However I have found several gems in here, some good poetry books and two great memoirs. I got one by Robert Drewe today that I'm very keen to get into.
Their book prices are a little steep, normally $3-$5, but I was happy to pay that for the ones I got. DVDs are only $2, and it's the same hit-and-miss quality with them.
Certainly a big enough store to be worth making the trip for (not to mention to also visit the Goodwill across the road...) read more
