The city of Wixom installed a pair of SemaConnect chargers in their downtown business area (great). And a charge only costs $1 (good!). However, you can't just get charged $1... you have to load your SemaConnect app account, and the minimum replenishment is $20. For someone who expects to see and use SemaConnect chargers often, this may not be a big deal, but their network is not very common in our area. So you essentially have to pre-load months/years of charging onto your app up front. I don't think this is reasonable. Other networks let you pay-as-you-go, and SemaConnect should also. read more

Sema sucks! Tried to use several SemaConnect chargers this weekend in Seattle, WA at multiple locations. None of them worked! I called customer service 2x and they basically blamed it on the EV charger owner, they were no help at all. They charged me $10 to use a free charger at the Embassy Suites that never worked! Chose one star because 0 wasn't an option. What was going to be the perfect situation to charge overnight turned into driving around looking for an available charger...so stressful. read more

Unprofessional, Horrible, and the worst company to deal with. we installed 10 charging stations in our parking lot, they sent us the wrong parts and they promised to send the replacement, never happened. we bought Series 7 Plus, but they sent us Series 7, a lot slower charger. Try to call the salesperson, no answer. Try to call customer service, but no one is there. that is what you get when dealing with an overseas company. read more

Horrible. No quality. These chargers are located at a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Roseville, CA. I have had nothing but problems trying to charge my vehicle. Stations are offline. No power. Or online but not connected? Bad experience every single time. SemaConnect needs to be replaced by a more diligent and efficient company. read more

3-4 Months ago, someone hacked one of their charging stations miles from my house. They have been trying to fix their system since. I still cannot charge my car via app and have to call it in, use my credit card, pay a fee for over the phone charging session and listen to a long list of rates every time. It has been very frustrating and each time I call them the answer is we're working on it. I believe a low budget company shouldn't be allowed to add EV charging station in residential buildings. I contacted them re their charging stations being down and how they had taken $20 as a deposit, yet I had only been able to charge my car 1 X out of 15-20 tries and multiple others had the same issue as I. We all got the same run around with them - no refund of our balance, no help & some jerk overseas who didn't know anything about what he was doing and refused to refund the balance and close the account. People buying EVs generally have no idea how much "fuel" costs, because the rates are so confusing. To compare to a gallon of gas, I multiply the price per kilowatt-hour by 15. Thus, at home it costs me about $1.80 to get a "gallon's worth" (40 miles) of range from my EV (12 cents/kWH.) If you pay 50 cents per kWH, that's the equivalent of about $7.50/gal. Some places charge even more. Until there's a standard unit of measure imposed on the industry that is comparable to per-gallon cost of gasoline, it's easy to overpay. read more

I would give ZERO if I could, worst customer service and a big rip off! Charger users avoid these chargers at all cost! Or you will pay $20 per charge regardless what your total is! Yes you heard me they automatically hold $20 per charge for up to 3 or 4 days according to the representative I spoke to who actually seemed to enjoyed the fact another suckered fell into the easy interest earning off of unsuspecting users. Apparently in the middle of the day absolutely Noone else was around to speak to no manager no supervisor etc. Rep actually told me that I have told you our company policy and I am hanging up if you don't have anything else to say! No where anywhere is listed about a $30 hold this guy said all companies do it which is bull as I use several others and I have always only been charged what I use not a extra $20 hold fee on top of that! At least now I know why these charge spots are never occupied. Use to think because everyone of these companies charge locations I have seen are near the trash dumpsters! Makes sense crappy service/app should be out by the trash! What's Ironic I went to the BBB obviously the company is not rated not surprised. But a complaint back in June 2019 of the sane thing. A company rep actually posted that they intend to have the hold charges removed by the end of that year! So yeap just a smoke screen! This company is definitely operating as a scam. As an EV owner you expect to pay a certain amount for electricity, the rate on our last charge worked out to $3 per Kwh, so a "full" tank on the Tesla Model 3 Long Range comes out to about $200. Do not use these if you are thinking they will charge similar to other charging stations or Supercharging rates! read more

I have used Semaconnect several times and would highly NOT recommend. They are misleading in the pricing and trying to connect to via the phone service is difficult. We got charged over $27 ($5 per additional hour over 3 hours) for one charge on occasion. I would not recommend due to the functionality and excessive pricing. read more

I signed up to charge my electric car with Sema Connect. It was a very frustrating process. I kept trying to sign up and it wouldn't work. I called the company a few times. The last person who answered the phone just did not seem at all concerned. She was not rude, but I felt she was very indifferent. and said she couldn't help me and that I had to call another number. I had tried the other day for 45 minutes , or maybe almost an hour, also unsuccessfully.. it was a very frustrating process to try to charge my car. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Sema Connect unless they make it easier to complete the charging process and improve training for the staff who answer Sema's phone to resolve issues. If they improve their service, I would be willing to give them another try and I can give them a higher review score. read more

I would give them a 0 if it were there. I WILL NEVER USE THIS RIP-OFF LYING SERVICE AGAIN. I was charged $35 for a electric charge that costs 55 cents at home and goes 25 miles. They said they were charging me $2 an hour to park in a space that we technically own. --My wife's 2018 Prius Prime can go 500 miles on $35 of gas. Why would I consider paying that if I were told the truth up front. We paid $202 for electricity and gas to go 4500 miles at that point. (We were given 11 gallons of gas from the dealer). --My wife and I are Worldmark/ Wyndham owners. We were told that the charging station is free. We charged on 3 previous trips to Windsor CA for free by parking in the space and leaving it overnight. The fourth time it said we need to make an account. After a frustrating 30 minutes and 2 800 calls I was finally with an account and an App on my phone. --The station has a moving digital text. It said 50 cents an hour or 50 cents a kilowatt hour. The car takes 2 hours to charge with a max of 5 Kilowatt hours so I figured it would cost $1 or $2.50. I didn't mind if they tacked on a small service fee, I just wanted to see how it worked and how much. -- I feel so sorry for these people that buy little all electric cars like a Leaf and go to Windsor for a nice wine country trip and get screwed by companies like this one. read more
