They closed. I was informed by another local business who is apparently taking over all of SEM Powers clients.

SEM installed our 32 solar panels in the fall of 2014. Since then, we have had to pay the Duke Energy surcharge that every customer pays monthly ($8-$10). That has been our only monthly cost from April to August, and sometimes March to September. For October to March, our lowest electric bill has been an additional $15, and our highest electric bill has been an additional $52 (during a cold month when we needed heat). Before solar, our energy bills averaged $100 a month. We are definitely saving money! We were pleased with SEM's installation process, and we continue to be impressed with their ability to troubleshoot minor problems over the phone or in person since the installation. They helped us get the best price on the panels, and we did receive credit on our 2014 income taxes. We are glad that we have the panels, and we are very happy that SEM was our provider. We highly recommend them! read more

I used SEM for seven years but recently had to reroof. When I purchased the project seven years ago, SEM assured me that I would only see about $2500 for them to take the panels down and put them back for a future reroofing. This must have been a sales tactic. Today, I received a quote from SEM for $15,600 to take the panels down and put them back up for my reroofing situation. Before anyone buys from SEM or any other solar company, get some contract guarantee for reroofing or do not do the project. $15,600 is outrageous. I hope the Florida legislature will pass some new consumer laws on this point. I am contacting them. read more

I recommend using this company, especially for commercial work. Some of the best engineering brains in the business.. Their installers are great to work with and are very knowledgeable as well. No job is to big for them to handle. read more

I don't know the details about what happened in the bad review, but my experience with getting a system through them was great. From beginning to end SEM was responsive, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable even though I was making a big purchase. I consider it more of an investment now because of the savings. I know I made the right choice, and I feel confident recommending them to people I know and care about. :) read more

I had a residential rooftop solar system installed by SEM Power in 2014 (10,000 watt residential solar PV system), and have had a great experience with this company for the past five years. The initial design and install were outstanding, and the system has satisfied almost all of my electrical needs since mid-2014. In my particular case, installation also included replacing an old roof using a recommended roofer that coordinated as needed with SEM. SEM also coordinated with Duke Energy to get me fully connected, and everything was flawless. After five years I've recently needed minor maintenance to keep everything running at 100 percent, and SEM took the initiative to do this before I even realized there was a issue. This amazed me, as their monitoring detected an issue and they fixed it at no cost to me before I even knew something was wrong. I personally can't say enough good things about SEM Power based on my own experience with the company, from the top executive and admin staff to the installation and then maintenance crews - - fully knowledgeable and professional throughout. read more

SEM power is a fraudulent operation. They took our deposit money four months ago and have not even delivered plans for our solar panel installation. After repeated emails and phone calls, they made no progress on our job. We are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and starting litigation. As far as I'm concerned. they will steal your money. Do not use this company. If SEM wants to resolve this situation I suggest they start treating their customers better and stop Lying and avoiding customers. read more

I rarely write reviews, and to be frank, a company needs to be very bad or they need to be extraordinary to get me to post anything. In the the case of SEM Power, the word EXTRAORDINARY is the right word. Although I installed approximately 112 solar panels about five years ago, Hurricane Irma required a new roof, and in doing so, those 112 solar panels had to come down and then reinstalled back in place. Because I was able to reconfigure my solar pool heater in a different location, it allowed me the ability to add another 12 or so panels. In doing so, my billing from FPL has gone from $650 per month five years ago to $8 today. Yes, $8!!! Hard to believe, but solar is incredible. In addition to a reinstall, the software needed to be able to see and control the daily use of power has been challenging, only because an outside vendor supplies the equipment and software. That said, SEM Power has been by my side to get this resolved multiple times due to no fault of their own. This is a tribute to a great organization that I feel was a great decision on my part. If you choose solar, give them a call. I was 110% satisfied!!! read more

I had SEM install solar panels on my house a few months ago. The process started off great. The sales process was great but after signing the contract things went down hill. They showed up to do the install and didn't have the materials to do the job. They came back the next day and completed it. It then took 5 or 6 weeks to get them turned on because the guy at SEM didn't complete the paperwork correctly with the power company and only would respond when I kept calling the the power company and showed him exactly what he was doing incorrectly on the paperwork. I finally got things turned on and they are working but they don't report as often as they should. I called several times to report the issue even though they are supposed to be monitoring and should have seen the problem themselves. Each time I called I got the impression they were annoyed that I wanted to report the issue. They didn't even try to look at it until I sent screen shots proving that on several occasions the system didn't update for more than two days. I then got a reply of bad single when I waited two days for a response from the tech. I then asked what we needed to do to correct the issue and if WiFi may work better. I've received no response and no follow up from anyone. I work from home so I know they have not come out to look either. I will not recommend this company to anyone going forward. read more

I would not recommend this SOLAR company based in Tampa, they are the contractors and install your solar panels. They are UNPROFESSINAL and do not have good customer relationship skills. They do not care about their clients and do not want to help you in case you need technical or customer support. There is no way you can reach them. They were the ones installed our solar panels, and we still pay the solar loan to, I needed a rebate paperwork from them in order to send it to TECO, and tried to reach Sonny he is the service director, took forever to reach him and he did not even want to help us to get our rebate. All I need is an itemized invoice for some items, and he couldn't provide it. So we've been waiting for months to do the rebate. What kind of business person does this, so you don't need any word of mouth or referrals ??? I do not get this at all! I am definitely not going to refer this business there are better solar contractors go with them. read more
