Being an athlete all my life and bodybuilding on and off for the past 4 years, I was just looking to get a bit of extra motivation and learn a few new things I could take with me. To say the least, I have never been so sore in my entire life. Training with Autumn (the owner) is unlike anything you'll ever do! She mixes lifting with circuit/cardio training which leaves your heart rate well above 140 at all times. I would usually lift at my own pace and very heavy for 8-9 reps.. My heart rate was always low except during a lift, and after it was back to normal. I would sweat minimally until I went to go do cardio. Now my lifting and cardio are combined and it saves so much time! I'm burning 5-800 calories an hour working with Autumn, and I couldn't be any happier! Self Made Training Is THE BOMB! read more

I've worked with Junie Sunga (@changethe6ame) for about 5 months. When I first started I had a hard time running 2 laps around the building, but when I met him I let him know my goals to be a better athlete and loose body fat. 5 months later we did just that. Junie found my limits and pushed them every single session. He did not let me give up and encouraged me to keep going. He constantly reminded me how important nutrition is as well. Once I started actually taking his advice the inches and pounds came off!! I am proud to say that working with Junie has been the best training experience ever. He is very professional, encouraging and has top notch work ethic. The best part was that he was able to tailor my workouts to help me in my Roller Derby career. I explained how the sport worked and he developed drills to improve my game. I would recommend Junie to anyone who is looking to take their fitness to the next level. read more

Now, lets get to the real good stuff. I hired Joe Roman III as my personal trainer and I must say that I was very impressed with him. Joe is only 23 years old, but he has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fitness. He always kept my workouts challenging, exciting, and always was changing it up which is exactly what I was looking for in a trainer. Joe will help anyone meet their goals as long as you give him 100% day in and day out. He will provide you with all the tools you'll need to get there (meal plans, motivation, knowledge, and commitment). I still have goals to meet, and I know Joe will help me obtain my goals. I have been training at Self Made for almost 2 months. My trainer is John Hassan and he has been great to work with. I have lost 12 pounds and gained a ton of strength and I plan to keep going until I reach my goal. John has taught me how to cut weight using flexible dieting and I have never found it so easy to cut weight while still being able to eat a bunch of the foods I can't live without. I never feel deprived and I have tons of energy for my workouts. Self Made has a good thing going with their personal trainers. The vibe is awesome there and everyone around you is shooting for goals which is very motivating. My wife is also going and seeing major results. I really don't want to go back to my old routine now that I have been seeing the results I have been searching for. read more

I've been training here for a little over a year with Derek Johnson and couldn't be happier with the results. I had trained professionally before and was looking for a no nonsense experienced trainer to get me back to where I wanted to be and found a whole lot more with him! I have to say having all the tools necessary at this facility he ALWAYS thinks out of the box and pushes me to the limit and then some! He knows exactly what to target and makes sure even when I'm being a drama queen I still hold my posture and do every movement right. He can see past the threshold and encourages me to push on and "trust" him (which is amazing) The new facility is amazing and I look forward to watching it come together. Highly recommend anyone who is looking to better themselves and make a change to look this guy up!! read more

Kevin doesn't just give a great workout; he designs fitness programs that are supported by research and are specific to individual needs. His programs are effective and rewarding. Now I am able to climb to the top of the rope and swing across the monkey bars--forward, backwards and sideways. I have met several trainers over the years and Kyle Figgins is in a class of his own! But before I get into how great he is, I personally think a little backstory is important. Having known Miguel (owner SMTF) for some years, I reached out to him at the beginning of 2015 with very specific needs. I had spent the previous four years struggling with a lower back compression issue. Every time I began to make some progress in my workouts, I would injure my back and would fall out of my routine for a few months. It was discouraging to make progress, get hurt, lose my progress and then start over. At 37 years of age the last thing I wanted to do was go through a back surgery I would have to recover from. I decided to give it one more shot, and this is when I met Kyle. Kyle and myself both have a track and field background (which was appealing) but what really sold me on beginning training with Kyle was the fact that he also has worked through major back issues. Kyle did the opposite of what other trainers I had worked with had done. The very first thing we went after was my lower back and strengthening everything around it. I will admit at first I was a bit worried considering how often I injured my back, but after the first 30 days I quickly came to realize he knew exactly what he was doing! I had spent four years hardly able to move in the morning and barely able to tie my shoes. Not only did Kyle correct my lower back issue within 30 days, but he helped me go from 219 pounds down to 198 pounds while building muscle within 60 days. I went from having to buy a 36 waist to being back in a 32 waist, all while increasing muscle, endurance, strength and correcting a back issue I struggled with for years. Kyle will push you to no end, yet he keep things fun and fresh and always keeps you motivated! He is extremely knowledgeable not only when it comes to workouts but also when it comes to meal planning. Kyle is somebody that lives the example he is trying to set with his clients and I can guarantee you you will not find somebody better out there! I know this is somewhat of a long review, but in closing I will say this. If you are serious about getting on a great training regimen and a great meal plan, Kyle Figgins is your guy! Don't bother looking anywhere else, he is the absolute best you will find! read more

I have been an avid runner for most of my life. At the beginning of 2014 I met Tabby Gazipura, one of the trainers, with the goal of incorporating core training to improve my overall time. After 6 weeks of TRX and Rip Trainer training twice a week, I dropped 2" on my waste and started running ~6:45 min miles compared to ~8:00 min. Well over a year later, I am still training with her twice a week. Her training sessions are always fun and challenging. I appreciate how she moves the needle and never allows the exercises to become easy; just before I master a new TRX exercise, she adds a twist that makes it a bit more challenging (she is probably going to have me do vertical push ups now that I can do a hand stand). Along the way, she has given me great nutritional advice and tips on general health and wellness. At any rate, anyone looking for a personalized, challenging training program should give Tabby a call. Also, if you're a workaholic like myself, Tabby has great hours that work with my hectic schedule. read more

Can I just start off by saying that Christina Jakymiw goes above and beyond! I was a little nervous at first when I decided to train with Christina because I did have a previous trainer that I got along with before and I'm not too much of a fan of change, but deciding to train with Christina was the best decision I could have made. My goal at first was just to simply lose weight because some clothes weren't fitting as comfortably as before, but after completing her 12 Week Program, it motivated and pushed me enough to want a lifestyle change. I learned so much about nutrition and how the body reacts to certain foods through Christina. She's encouraging and motivating and knows how to push you just enough when it comes to the workouts. She's also incredibly patient and such a positive person to be around with. She's a lovely and inspiring person and thanks to Christina's training and guidance, I was able to achieve my first goal, and have decided to continue training with her to achieve my next goal. Thank you so much for everything Christina! And the Self Made Training Facility is such a great space to workout at as well! It's very inspiring to see and workout alongside other people who are motivated and committed to their fitness goals. read more

I've been suffering with lower back for about three weeks due to a bad pull on my deadlift. After trying to let it heal on its own with ice and heat I decided I needed to get professional help. I train at SMTF so I already knew Jason Shirley, and knew he was an expert in the field of soft tissue therapy. Today I had my first session with him and I'm so glad I sought out his help. He's very patient and explains what he's doing, he asked me often if I was doing ok and if I was feeling pain in the areas he was treating. The oils he uses smell amazing and feel luxurious on your skin and the attention to detail Jason puts in to his work is much appreciated. I'll definitely be going back for more sessions, as Jason found I had knots and tension all over my back, arms and neck! I never knew that my lower back pain could be linked to so many other areas on my body. I would highly recommend him. read more

I love Self Made Training Facility. I've belonged to every gym in the area over the years. All of them!Self Made is different. I came here around 4 months ago when I hired Omar Vargas to train me. I've known Omar for a few years and I've seen a huge transformation in his physique and in other clients of his. Omar is a great trainer. Very knowledgeable and has improved my form and quality of training. We've never done the same workout twice. Always changing. Always improving. My size, strength and conditioning have improved immensely under his guidance. I've made more gains with Omar in 4 months than the preceding 4 years on my own. All the trainers at Self Made are the best in the business. Everyone is serious about what they do, yet have fun doing it. It's a very positive and upbeat facility. Miguel the owner is an inspiration. He's always gracious, friendly and serious about improving his business. I don't think he ever stops or sleeps. I've told both Miguel and Omar that Self Made is my " happy place ". I go in dragging butt from the work day and leave feeling invigorated and inspired to improve. Don't think twice if anyone out there is considering a New Year fitness objective. Go to Self Made. Find a trainer you click with and get started. It's the best fitness decision I've made. read more

I had heard people talking about SMTF for over a year and when I made the decision to look for a personal trainer I checked out the Selfmade website. It was so easy to navigate and I loved that every trainer had what they specialize in and their social media pages. I met with Brittney Reyna (IG @ reignandgain ) and was so nervous as I'm not gym savvy, and the space made me feel intimidated. Brittney instantly reassured me and made me feel at home. You can tell she takes so much pride in her work space and knowledge as she's always picking up after her and her clients and always making every workout fun. Every day I walk into the gym and no matter what time it is Brittney is always so happy and ready to work! Shes constantly watching me to correct my form, and letting me know that I am killing it..(even if I couldn't figure out to form for the first set, haha) Shes always available to all of her clients and never makes us feel judged, or a burned to her. Even if we don't make it to the gym she checks in on us and is making sure we are okay. She makes every workout educational and fun, and I always leave feeling so confident. I would recommend Brittney Reyna to everyone and anyone and I promise you won't be disappointed with what she offers and her work ethic! read more

I cannot say enough beautiful things about Ms. Christina Jakymiw. Three months ago, I returned to the states from Japan 10 pounds heavier and living a completely sedentary lifestyle. I knew that I needed to take action in changing for the better. With that said, I started looking for personal trainers and found Christina through the Self-Made training facility website. Once we met up and started the Drop 2 sizes in 12-weeks program I knew that I was with the right trainer. Christina was and continues to be extremely supportive of me throughout all my training sessions with her or when I work out independently. In addition to that, she helps me keep track with nutrition not by making me feel bad for having intermittent cheats but by reminding me that we are human and mistakes are inevitable; she has inspired to believe that regardless of those obstacles what's important is to continue and remaining persistent in hoping to achieve my goal. I am still working towards my health goals and I continue to work out daily with Christina's assistance through the online training program. Thanks Christina!!! You da BEST! read more

I started as most of us ladies would, in the hopes of getting the perfect body. My trainer is Jose Lopez, I've been training with him for about a year now. Like I said before I started at the lowest not knowing anything about machines, how to work out or even eat properly. The first sessions were about learning my body and what I wanted to enhance or lose inches on. For me personally I am naturally very slim but I wanted to get a more define body structure, meaning my arms, back, legs, and abs pretty much my whole body. Jose was and still is very attentive in my wants and i feel like that is very important in a trainer, he explains thoroughly everything before we move forward to anything else. Such as why switching our work out routines and meal plans will benefit me. The work outs are an hour long, it may seem like it's not much time but it's more than enough! He will kill you! (Not literally) in a work out sense. So make sure you are eating properly throughout the day so you have energy for your work out. I always leave with a feeling of accomplishment because the trainings are so intense it makes me feel like I'm getting stronger each time and I have! I started with the 20lb bar with my squats and now I can squat 50lb it's a slow transition but it's best doing it slowly and the right way. I cannot stress enough how important it is to do workouts the right way, I see people wobbling through their squats not properly doing them and I fear they'll get hurt. I'm thankful I seeked a trainer to teach me how to properly do work outs so that I don't hurt myself. My sessions are twice a week for an hour. The rest of the days I go to the gym by myself and do the homework he gives me. Thanks again Jose I'm seeing the results that I've wanted for so long! I highly recommend him for anyone that is barely starting to want to get fit or that wants to learn more about fitness. read more

Only leaving one star because im fourced to. I went in thursday the 27th early am for my appointment. I used the restroom before my workout and it was DISGUSTING. The floor was sticky with god knows what, no toilet paper, the light was so dim, no soap, the trash can was over flowing causing trash on the floor and no paper towels. I drive over an hour because its more elite gym compared to a chain gym but ive experienced superior cleanliness at planet fitness. Also i find it extremely distracting from my workout because there is a trainer who blows a wishtle everytime he wants his clients attention. It breaks my concentration from gwtting a good workout. I recently havent been able to use the turf part for hitt workouts because theres always someone throwing balls around. it feel more like a rec hall and not a professional gym. Please bring back the standards that self made built their reputation on. read more
