I have been training at Self Made for almost 2 months. My trainer is John Hassan and he has been great to work with. I have lost 12 pounds and gained a ton of strength and I plan to keep going until I reach my goal. John has taught me how to cut weight using flexible dieting and I have never found it so easy to cut weight while still being able to eat a bunch of the foods I can't live without. I never feel deprived and I have tons of energy for my workouts. Self Made has a good thing going with their personal trainers. I've been training here for a little over a year with Derek Johnson and couldn't be happier with the results. I could not be more pleased with my trainer, Kevin Bratschko. I chose Kevin because he is highly experienced with obstacle courses, and I was getting ready to do Rugged Maniac. I never did anything like this before. He knew exactly how to train me. He puts a lot of thought into each training session. He pushes me hard but also makes it fun. Now I am able to climb to the top of the rope and swing across the monkey bars--forward, backwards and sideways. Can I just start off by saying that Christina Jakymiw goes above and beyond! I was a little nervous at first when I decided to train with Christina because I did have a previous trainer that I got along with before and I'm not too much of a fan of change, but deciding to train with Christina was the best decision I could have made. My goal at first was just to simply lose weight because some clothes weren't fitting as comfortably as before, but after completing her 12 Week Program, it motivated and pushed me enough to want a lifestyle change. I have met several trainers over the years and Kyle Figgins is in a class of his own! But before I get into how great he is, I personally think a little backstory is important. Having known Miguel (owner SMTF) for some years, I reached out to him at the beginning of 2015 with very specific needs. I had spent the previous four years struggling with a lower back compression issue. Every time I began to make some progress in my workouts, I would injure my back and would fall out of my routine for a few months. It was discouraging to make progress, get hurt, lose my progress and then start over. At 37 years of age the last thing I wanted to do was go through a back surgery I would have to recover from. I decided to give it one more shot, and this is when I met Kyle. Kyle and myself both have a track and field background (which was appealing) but what really sold me on beginning training with Kyle was the fact that he also has worked through major back issues. Kyle did the opposite of what other trainers I had worked with had done. The very first thing we went after was my lower back and strengthening everything around it. I will admit at first I was a bit worried considering how often I injured my back, but after the first 30 days I quickly came to realize he knew exactly what he was doing! I had spent four years hardly able to move in the morning and barely able to tie my shoes. Not only did Kyle correct my lower back issue within 30 days, but he helped me go from 219 pounds down to 198 pounds while building muscle within 60 days. I went from having to buy a 36 waist to being back in a 32 waist, all while increasing muscle, endurance, strength and correcting a back issue I struggled with for years. Kyle will push you to no end, yet he keep things fun and fresh and always keeps you motivated! He is extremely knowledgeable not only when it comes to workouts but also when it comes to meal planning. Kyle is somebody that lives the example he is trying to set with his clients and I can guarantee you you will not find somebody better out there! I have been an avid runner for most of my life. At the beginning of 2014 I met Tabby Gazipura, one of the trainers, with the goal of incorporating core training to improve my overall time. After 6 weeks of TRX and Rip Trainer training twice a week, I dropped 2" on my waste and started running ~6:45 min miles compared to ~8:00 min. Well over a year later, I am still training with her twice a week. Her training sessions are always fun and challenging. I appreciate how she moves the needle and never allows the exercises to become easy; just before I master a new TRX exercise, she adds a twist that makes it a bit more challenging (she is probably going to have me do vertical push ups now that I can do a hand stand). Along the way, she has given me great nutritional advice and tips on general health and wellness. At any rate, anyone looking for a personalized, challenging training program should give Tabby a call. I've been suffering with lower back for about three weeks due to a bad pull on my deadlift. After trying to let it heal on its own with ice and heat I decided I needed to get professional help. I train at SMTF so I already knew Jason Shirley, and knew he was an expert in the field of soft tissue therapy. Today I had my first session with him and I'm so glad I sought out his help. He's very patient and explains what he's doing, he asked me often if I was doing ok and if I was feeling pain in the areas he was treating. The oils he uses smell amazing and feel luxurious on your skin and the attention to detail Jason puts in to his work is much appreciated. I'll definitely be going back for more sessions, as Jason found I had knots and tension all over my back, arms and neck! I love Self Made Training Facility. I've belonged to every gym in the area over the years. All of them!Self Made is different. I came here around 4 months ago when I hired Omar Vargas to train me. I've known Omar for a few years and I've seen a huge transformation in his physique and in other clients of his. Omar is a great trainer. Very knowledgeable and has improved my form and quality of training. We've never done the same workout twice. Always changing. Always improving. I cannot say enough beautiful things about Ms. Christina Jakymiw. Three months ago, I returned to the states from Japan 10 pounds heavier and living a completely sedentary lifestyle. Once we met up and started the Drop 2 sizes in 12-weeks program I knew that I was with the right trainer. Christina was and continues to be extremely supportive of me throughout all my training sessions with her or when I work out independently. Only leaving one star because im fourced to. I went in thursday the 27th early am for my appointment. I used the restroom before my workout and it was DISGUSTING. The floor was sticky with god knows what, no toilet paper, the light was so dim, no soap, the trash can was over flowing causing trash on the floor and no paper towels. I drive over an hour because its more elite gym compared to a chain gym but ive experienced superior cleanliness at planet fitness. Also i find it extremely distracting from my workout because there is a trainer who blows a wishtle everytime he wants his clients attention. It breaks my concentration from gwtting a good workout. I recently havent been able to use the turf part for hitt workouts because theres always someone throwing balls around. it feel more like a rec hall and not a professional gym. Please bring back the standards that self made built their reputation on. read more

Joe Roman III is amazing dedicated and inspiring!!! He is the best trainer I have ever been around. He pushes you for results but at the same time explains what he is doing. He explains what muscles we are working and where you should feel it. When working out he makes sure your comfortable doing the workouts. He makes sure your not going to hurt yourself. He is very knowledgeable about supplements and his recommendations are top notch. I recently had Joe fly to Dallas where we first went to get the proper workout accessories and went to the supplement store where he was able to recommend several different supplements that my wife and I needed to be taking. He stayed in town 3 days to make sure he showed us all body workout. I thought I was working out hard although I have seen results my way. I started training at Self Made Training Facility with trainer Casey Corrigan. I recently had a baby and wanted to get back in shape. My husband and I met with Casey before my first training session on July 6th. Casey was very professional and expressed his passion for helping people reach their goals. Casey was very informative about the facility giving us a tour and informing us everyone is family. I have been training with Casey a little over a month and a half. I definitely couldn't be happier with the facility itself and more than anything my trainer Casey. He has helped me lose over 20 pounds in the short time I have been training with him. My conditioning has improved significantly. I eat healthier. If I ever have any questions about nutrition Casey is always available to answer any questions I may have throughout the day.
